For about a month now my WiFi breaks on every Gee ROM 4.4.4. I've read that drivers have changed and some kernels work others don't.
What I've found is this: The WiFi works at the beginning but stops after I turn off and change location. When I try to bring up WiFi settings, blank screen, unresponsive unless I reboot phone.
What I've tried: Flashing a 4.4.3 WiFi revert fix. Doesn't work. Flashing 4.4.3 kernel right now is my only solution.
Right now: newest Liquid smooth ROM, newest PA Gapps full modular and Philz Touch recovery.

Wifi does not toggle on anymore. I need advice on how to get it working again. Advice doesn't have to be specific to the ROMs below - I can switch to whichever ROM will make the wifi on. Thank you very much!
What I did:
I was on JellyBam 9.2
Tried to get to Jellybam 10.0 and 10.1 . As per the jellybam instructions, before flashing 10.0 or 10.1 jellybam, I did factory reset, then erased /system, flashed the 10.2 CM.
For achieving this I tried various recovery images -> CWM recovery 6.0.3.1, then philz touch 5.11.2 (6.0.3.7), then CWM touch recovery 6.0.3.6.
In the middle of all this, I lost the ability to toggle wifi ON.
I'd like advice on how to get back the ability to toggle Wifi.
Am on Android_Revolution_HD-Note2_17.0 (4.1.2) but still no love with the wifi
Solved it....
It had Android_Revolution_HD-Note2_17.0
flashed recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.6-n7100.tar.md5
flashed cm-10.2-20130829-NIGHTLY-n7100
let the battery die overnight
charge and boot from cold
wifi was now working
no idea why this worked
flashed jellybam-v10.1.0_n7100
wifi is still working
In the future I would post in the forum for your device. From what I read in your post you have an n7100. Thats the international version. Gsm version. We have the l900 which is a sprint cdma version. Flashing roms or modems from here may brick your device. Please be careful.

my device is e980, I flash some roms (carbon, beanstalk BS_homony)and found that the wiif doesn't work except on the stock rom and the slimbean rom, the mac address is 00:00:00:00:00:00. I google it and changed the /data/misc/wifi/config file with modify the cur_etheraddr=23:dd:88:99:c2:e4. When I reboot, the wifi still doesn't work and the cur_etheraddr=00:00:00:00:00:00. I don't konw how to fix it, anyone who can help me, thanks a lot!!!!

First try to flash the stock rom
And then try again with custom roms.

I ran into this same problem and after many attempts at after market ROMs, C10.1 and 11, I had to go back to stock. Was never able to figure this out and it seems like not too many people ran into it.
Hey, I was able to get it working with the latest nightly CM build. The way I did it was to do a dirty flash on top of the LG stock Rom and then do a Data/Cache Reset. Now I'm not sure if it's been fixed in the CM build itself or if it was the dirty flash, but it's been running great so far.
I did not have the 0.0..... mac address problem in the latest CM11 nighlies but the wifi would not work.
After many reflashes I found that if in settings>wifi>advanced>region code I checked any country, the wifi would start working immediately.
Although the setting did not stick on reboot.
Hi,
- Stock (or custom) rom 4.4.2 works fine. Wifi turns on and connects.
- Stock (or custom) roms 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 hang on "Turning Wifi on..." and stay that way. (The rest seems to work normally).
I have the exact same issue with my Nexus 4, but my Nexus 7 (2012/grouper/nakasi) doesn't have any wifi issues.
Things I tried:
Complete factory resets, factory images flashed (KTU84L/P), flashed Carbon nightly (20140621).
Flashed the radio from and KOT49H factory image (there isn't one in KTU84L or KUT84P), flashed the bootloader(s) from the 4.4.2, 4.4.3 and 4.4.4.
I even tried deleting (or rather renaming) the /data/misc/wifi and /data/misc/dhcp just in case.
Router is not the problem, I already tried resetting it, despite all my other wifi enabled devices having no problems.
Nothing turns on the wifi on my Nexus 7 (flo/razor) or 4 (mako/occam) when on 4.4.3 or 4.4.4...
I am suspecting Google of screwing up, but if that was the case, why don't I see a whole bunch of posts with this problem?
I'm running out of ideas. The weirdest thing is that on 4.4.2 (stock and carbon last 4.4.2 nightly) it works like a charm! And even weirder, it happens on 2 or my 3 different Nexuses.
Which roms have you tried? I'm running Pac-Man 4.4.3 (6/19 nightly) w/elementix kernel and WiFi works just fine.

That helped, sort of... ElementalX 2.13 doesn't work for me either, but 2.12 does!
I will test some more, but I'm considering staying on this combo for now until 4.4.4 (or maybe higher) matures a bit.
I still find it highly suspicious that Stock is giving problems too. I found a few comments on 4.4.3/4 release news posts on the net with this issue too.
I'm on 4.4.3 on Nexus 7 2013 (LTE) and mine does "Turning Wifi on..." hang every day. I reboot and the problem is sometimes fixed. If I reset my AP and then reboot the Wifi always works.
This is relatively new. I associated it with a newly installed App, Wifi Scheduler, but maybe its not the App.
Interesting.
Thanks for posting your question.
PS: I'm on AT&T prepaid SIM card, FYI.
PSS: I just had a problem with my PC network access, seems my DHCP router issued a duplicate IP address. Unsure if related.
Whatever the guys over at Carbon Rom did, it fixed my WiFi problems! Thread is Here.
They put some special fix in their rom. Nightly of the 24th has the fix. Those on a deb/lte will be fixed in tomorrow's nightly.
Hello. I've been flashing/installing customs roms all day..
I can't seem to solve my problem. Wi-fi wont connect in any of 4.4.x custom roms(slimkat,paranoid..etc)
however it works fine on 4.2.2, 4.4.2 stock and LRS rom
full packaged rom seems to be only solution for me.
heres what i did
My device came with 4.4.2.
I downgraded to 4.2.2
rooted
used loki/twrp package to install twrp 2.6.3.2
wiped data/cache/dalvik
installed custom rom
boots device fine but wifi wont connect(i do see list of wifi network)
tried following
higher version of twrp(s)
tried 4.2.2/4.4.2 flashable bootstacks
tried different type of roms from infected website
tried flashing custom roms after flashing 4.2.2 + 4.4.2 flashable stock roms
none seems to be working.
=( are there any other steps i need to do?
perhaps missing correct kernels?
thanks in advance.
What model gpad do you have? It looks like a v500. Sometimes a factory reset after ROM install helps. Does android settings show the WiFi MAC address?
If it does the kernel at least detects the WiFi hardware on a basic level.
I do know that slimkat after installing seems to require a reboot for things to settle. However as i recall that was for some of the sensors not wifi. Did you reboot after install?
Also did you set the WiFi region in the advanced part of the WiFi settings?

i did notice that there is no bluetooth address however i did install many other custom rom.
this isn't the only rom with the problem.
What did you use to downgrade to 4.2.2?

no i tried to fix but no go.
wifi problem remains.
I am using a newer version of recovery than you are. I will have to look around and see what I did differently if I get a chance...
Hello,
My Note 2 was stock, and I decided to root it because I was having issues with the screen turning on and wifi sometimes not connecting. I used Odin to flash TWRP, installed a number of ROMs including Cyanogen and Liquidsmooth (currently on Liquidsmooth 3.2), and everything works fine now except that Wifi won't turn on.
I read that Kit Kat has caused wifi issues for some people, so I even downgraded to Jelly Bean (CM 10.2), but that did not seem to help. Does anyone know of any fixes for this or alternatively, any Lollipop ROMs that wouldn't have this problem?
[One thing I just noticed when I was double checking that I was on 4.4.4 was that the "About" menu shows my model number as GT-N7105 even though I downloaded the ROM for the SGH-t889. If that means I installed the wrong ROM, I can restore my backup of my stock ROM and start again if needed]
Thanks in advance.
Solved!
Just wanted to post that I figured out that if I install Liquidsmooth alone first, without adding google apps, the wifi worked. In fact, I may have just been stupid to install google apps since it appears that Liquidsmooth already had google apps...
But in any case, the wifi stopped working after I rebooted, so I installed Jedi ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-tmobile/development/rom-jedi-source-project-4-4-4-t2895948, booted up, then went to recovery and installed the google apps for Jedi from the same link, and everything has been working great since then.
Hope this info is helpful.
