Anyone know whats going to come with this update I searched everywhere to no avail.

I am searching and searching for this problem but no one really has an asnwer... Why cant anyone help us out?
I have a stock unrooted Droid Incredible and have installed about 20-30 free apps from the market and I am getting this low memory error.
I go into "settings/sd & phone storage" and it says:
SD card
Total space
7.39GB
Available space
4.83GB
Internal phone storage
Total space
6.46GB
Available space
6.41GB
Phone Memory
Total space
748MB
Available space
572MB
The only way to correct the problem is to uninstall some programs.
I have moved all the apps that I can to the SD card.
As it is right now, if I install an app, I will get the "low on memory" error and I will have to uninstall something in order to try something new.
I dont want to start a new thread so I figured this one was the closest to my problem.
SO PLEASE help me with this.
I dont really want to use anything other than stock rom, been there done that and had too many probs with little things not working(on a different phone).. I would like to keep it stock..... For now anyway... lol
Thanks for any comments...

Open up a terminal and type "df -h" - post the output if it isn't self explanatory.
This assumes you've rooted the device.
Nope, I haven't rooted it. I guess I should start reading about rooting.
Any links you might want to share for an Android noob? For rooting of coarse.
I come from windows mobile and I never had to deal with "rooting". We just had to "unlock" our phones.
Thanks

Go to the development forum and check the sticky threads. Particularly, the thread with links to other helpful threads should be useful. Pretty sure you just need to run unrevoked forever, flash a custom recovery, then the rom of your choice.
Currently 35% downloaded. Is there any way to cancel the install phase? I was not prompted and cannot stop the download. I hope others aren't next, I tried various tricks when I first rooted to break my communication with the OTA update but obviously that didn't work.

Probably too late now 20 minutes later, but you could always pull the battery. That will buy you a little time. Then you could fastboot boot the recovery from the dev forum, access your phone with adb, and delete the update application apks from the system.
Quick uodate, I was able to postpone the update with the remind me later option I was given. Luckily it asked me at some point but my issue is still there, how do I get rid of this uodate pest? Renamint the ota-certs.zip file isn't enough because I did that a while ago.
I will try that when I get home. Is this system updates apk something I can get to from root explorer? I would love to end while I'm still at work.
Thanks Mills! I used Titanium backup to back the system-update.apk to my SD and then removed it from internal. The option to update disappeared in Settings. I out it back just to make sure I fixed it, the update option reappeared so I removed it again and now it's over. Thanks so much for helping me in the clutch. Felt like my phone had a bomb strapped to it. Oh and in Titanium I deleted the app data just to be safe and remove that update. Hopefully this info gets around so no one else is surprised.

Looks like I was wrong, the phone updated while I was busy at work and is now not turning on. With my lady at home expecting anytime I was in a catch 22, do I turn the phone off and try and help it's safety or do I do what apears to have worked. Well I had faith in what I did and now have to revert back to a crapberry. I'm calling Verizon out on this one, there is no good excuse for me to HAVE to had updated and it shouldn't be a complex procedure to say no to any updates.
Mobile Care is the app to delete or freeze on a R800x to prevent ota updating.
Thanks a MILLION for that tip markcyst. I unbricked my phone so now I will be deleting "mobile care".
how did you unbrick your phone !!! please help
This worked for me.

ok i uninstalled superuser and busybox and some how lost all permissions to install or update anything.im lost
I guess the obvious question is why did you do this? Can you try installing superuser from the market again to see if you can undo the damage? Any time you mess with the system files you risk messing something up...

Somehow I can't install newer version of ROM manager from Google play store...
Check the screenshots, what's the problem...? :/
Thanks if you can help..

EDIT: PLEASE don't keep my old threads alive!
Screenshot isn't showing up for me.
Is it saying you're out of storage space?
Try clearing your market data.
Settings>Apps>Play Store>Clear Data
This will change your market settings back to stock and remove your recent market searches...
But other than that you won't lose anything and it might remedy the situation.

I uploaded the screenshots via my Galaxy Nexus and just noticed it's not showing them.. in market it said: ERROR: "Insufficient storage available", i can install other apps but not the ROM Manager!
I should clear market data and cache but I'm not sure does it help because it just can't install this one application and I have 6 GB free memory, I gonna clear market data and then I try to install it again.
But Thanks anyway for the reply!..
Edit: now I see the screenshots, sometimes it takes time to show them, I don't know why..
and still it doesn't install it.. little bit weird..
People who get this specific error don't deserve the answer.

i have 1Gb free phone space + 9Gb free sd space and still get the same error
Hi!!
I just wanna to tell you that my HTC just updated its firmware to 1030.54. 20002 .401 (previously 1030.54. 10,403 .401). It also Updated it's Radio software version to 1.13b.3054.31_10.18.30.54 and the Bootloader Version to 0.0.1030.54 (164172).
I'm from Portugal, and I've an unbranded phone. The update was available just after I Hard-reseted the phone due to the lack of free space. After that, it started to Update. The update is about 420 MB, therefore most probably only possible by deleting numerous files / apps.
For now the only improvement is that the device now runs a little smoother. May it be a pre-Apollo Plus?
P.S.: I have screen captures of the process.

You can make free space after you "check for updates". I checked , it say new update was found, but when i tried to download it said it needed extra free space. I made the extra free space (420mb) , and it updated nicely the only bothering thing is that it didn't say on its own that an update was available.
After i read this - i cheched for updates also and it did find something
updating right now
This update has been long available. I have a HTC 8S three weeks and at the beginning of this update has downloaded.
One thing I noticed with this Update is that the problem with the "other" storage is much better managed by the OS. Not entirely solved, but way better though...
Cheers
I got the update and it is downloaded. Then it got stuck at Preparing to install at 100% can help me?

I've also install the update and except the SMS length problem I don't find any differences. I also try to find something like a change log but without any luck. Does somebody know what else got fixed ?
I have also updated my phone, but I haven't noticed anything different.
On one Czech forum guy mentioned about resolved issue with intergrated messeger. No idea what has been fixed.

What's the 'other stuff' there is in the phone storage? Not system, not pictures, not music, not apps but something else?
There is a lot of it and the phone needs 406 megabytes free space for update whereas I only can get 330 megas after removing apps. Is it possible to remove this 'other stuff' somehow?

This folder is for system, some applications cache and other stuff. There is no way to manually flush this folder. System manages this itself.

Thanks. Really? There is something worth more than 1 GB. Factory reset is probably the only way to reach the 400+ MB target of free space?

Hi. Unfortunately, it is the only way how to get some free space. This is well known bug. Hopefully, Microsoft will solve it soon.
