[Q] Smart Notice / weather widget lagging - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Since my G3 became very laggy in a week or so, lots of redraws when returning to the home screen, I decided to just get rid of the Smart Notice / Weather widget on the home screen. This pretty much fixed the issue with redrawing. Unfortunately I'd like to have this stock widget.. Does anyone know what's actually causing the problem with the widget? Also I prefer using the stock launcher..

Hello , LG's widget "Smart Notice" is using a lot of power from the device . It is using a lot of pixels and it is designed for 2K display so that's why you can see a few flashes from the widget or redrawing .
You can download the stock widget from 3rd party developers which has the same looks but it is more power efficient and it will not use so many pixels !

[Q] Couple questions: Android Weather Widget and Widget Spacing

ICS is driving me a little nuts... First the normal weather and news app cannot seem to find my location. It won't even find me if I manually put it in, city or zip code. Is this because I'm in the US or is this broken?
Second, is there any way I can fix the widget spacing? I put the news, a calendar widget and weather widget on my main page. No matter if they are HTC or Android, the spacing between the widgets is huge and looks terrible. Even adjusting the widget size leaves a huge amount of unusable space.
Appreciate any help!

I noticed the huge gap also in the widgets. I kept trying to move the Google Search widget under the clock and weather but wouldn't go close.
I am guessing this is how it is in ICS?
Anyone find a solution, or are we just the minor few that care?
Unfortunately, between this and the battery life I'm considering returning mine and sticking with my Note.
EDIT: The weather widget is still funky, but I went under settings and even though it wouldn't accept a manual location I used automatic then forced a refresh and it sometimes works.

Unfortunately, despite the large real estate the screen provides, the homescreens are still laid out in a 4x4 grid. So, no matter where you put it, it will still show a gap. Makes no sense, I know. They could've laid everything out in a 5x5 grid. Kinda wastin space. They coulda laid the Vivid out in. 5x4 grid, but they didn't. Sux to have wasted space like that.
You can use Nova or Apex launchers and go to as much as a 7 x 7 grid.

[Q] Widget locker on non-rooted phone

Hello there,
I tried using Widget Locker on my non-rooted HOX, but I find it a bit slow, and the original screen lock often comes in the background.
Are there any tips for having Widget Locker running smoothly on non-rooted phones?
Are there any other lock screen replacement doing a good job?
Cheers,
JP.

News and Weather Widghet(GenieWidget) cause lags

I noticed that the News and Weather Widget cause lags, on the HTC Launcher when the headlines on the widget changes.
I noticed that very much in the ics rom. On JB it's much more improved but still some lags. you can see it by sliding the homescreens when the heeadline changes you should feel some lags. on some lwp you can see it too. the animation stops or get slowly for a short moment when the headline change
can someone confirm this?
on any replacment launcher it's working as usually.
i always liked htc and htc sense. but the new launcher is a pain in the ass. just remember problems with livewallpaper and scrolling at the beginning.

[Q] Missing widgets with Nova Launcher

Hi guys,
I've brought a couple of days ago this fantastic HTC device! However, after 2 complete recharges, I've noticed that Blinkfeed launcher drains battery more then usuals launchers.
Considering that I don't use Blinkfeed homepage, i've decided to switch to a more customizable and light Nova Launcher... but to my disappointment I've noticed the lack of a great number of HTC widgets, like the weather widget, music app widget and all the quick settings shortcuts. Is it normal?? Is there a way to use them with Nova Launcher too??
Please help
No, you can only use the HTC widgets with the stock launcher.
You can browse the play store for copycat widgets, but that's about it.

You can get rid of blinkfeed page you know...
Pinch at the home screen to get to the panels option then drag the blinkfeed panel up and delete it.
Best of both worlds...

Oh thx for the answers guys.
However Nova launcher is also lighter, and much more customizable, so I will try to check in the play store to see what can I do.
Thank you again guys

lost my clock and weather!

I recently upgraded to the 20V firmware on my H11. Here is the problem. I was on 20R. I had a clock and weather widget on my homescreen that was there by default but now it is gone. Does anyone know how I can get the stock 20R clock/weather widget back? I tried long pressing my home screen and flipping through widgets in hopes of getting it back, but it looks like it has been removed. Does anyone know if I can extract from the old firmware? I tried the apps in the app store and they are just not the same. My old firmware had the clock and weather where if it were raining my home screen have rain drops. I loved it. The new widgets are just not the same and they look awful and non familiar to me.
Please help...........
