T2 Ultra Dual with Chinese firmware - Sony Xperia T2 Ultra

Hi. Recently purchased T2 from China. It is a China Unicom phone with their firmware. I wanted to know if there was a way to remove this firmware (and chinese apps) without rooting my phone?
Would just unlocking bootloader do the trick? Thanks in advance

Anyone willing to reflash the firmware on my phones? Apparently thats what needs to be done along with unlocking bootloader. I own a Mac and not comfortable with this procedure. Would obviously pay for your time. Thanks

You have the XM50h model right?
Well I think you can just simply flash the 4.4.3 firmware for T2 Ultra dual model
First, download the flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php for mac here
Install the required drivers in the folder flashtool/drivers for your model & fastboot/flash mode after the flashtool have been installed
For downloading the firmware, download from XperiFirm here http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142

Thank you will give it a whirl

Yea, but I have this OTA update that came to the phone recently and it has not been able to install via the OS. I am guess one of those three is blocking the update from installing. Can't sell the phone like that!

Can not update

Hey guys, I've been facing this issue for a while now and haven't been able to figure it out. On one screen, under diagnostics I find a meagre which tells me I have an update available for my device, where as on the other it tells me I'm up to date. Currently I'm running 5.0.2 My device is rooted and bootloader is unlocked. Have I in the process of trying to unlock my boot loader messed something up? Is there a place where I can get the latest firmware for my Indian Compact to flash using the software??
Thanks in advance

Sony updates won't work with unlocked bl. You'll have to use Flashtool/Xperifirm, or relock bl, then update.
Flashtool homepage here - http://www.flashtool.net/ Xperifirm is integrated in newer versions. Download fw with Xperifirm, then flash with Flashtool

XT1635-02 Rom on XT1635-03

I intend to buy the chinese variant XT1635-03 at Gearbest. Is it possible to flash the XT1635-02 rom on it or will I be stuck with the chinese rom? If that is possible, would I receive the OTA updates?
You can flash the every rom you like i have the Chinese version and i flashed the Russian rom on it you just need to unlock your bootloader

Thank you very much. Your answer was decisive for my decision on buying the device, and I think the chinese version comes already with the bootloader unlocked.

You won't receive OTAs.

It's not a big deal, as long as I can flash the latest roms.

Sorry to bother again, but did you flash the entire rom? I read at other thread that it is dangerous to flash modem, fsg and bootloader from another variant.

I read on another thread that he flashed a -02 firmware without the modem files and no partition wipe (64 vs 32 GB).
Is there a full "HowTo" to go from XT1635-03 Dual-SIM to a XT1635-02 Firmware? Of course, Dual-SIM should still work afterwards. OTA will not work in any way, right?
Are there custom Roms which can be used on the XT1635-03 ?
Thanks
i have a problem

Any progress to what can be done with the chinese moto z play?
Hi,
I got Moto Z from gearbest too and it also comes with ADDISON_CHINA_CUST image.
I was able to unlock bootloader with 'fastboot flashing unlock' and then I flashed it to retail 7.0 (via fastboot), then updated successfully to 7.1 (via adb sideload).
Unfortunately it still shows retcn channel and ADDISON_CHINA_CUST as baseband.
Is there any way to change it too?
Thanks!

To be short: no, there is no pracical way to change the software channel and modem version (they are tightened to hardware)
I do no think you receive any OTA but if so do not install them

Thanks for your reply! Sounds like buying a phone from gearbest is not a good idea if you want to receive OTAs and stay with official ROM.
One more thing: after I updated the phone to 7.1 it shows during startup 'ID: bad key' (apart from 'Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted'.).
When being flashed, it also returned:
writing 'boot'...
(bootloader) Image signed with key bad key
and
writing 'recovery...
(bootloader) Image signed with key bad key
Btw, maybe it's a stupid question, but is it justified to consider retcn channel and modem version (ADDISON_CHINA_CUST) as kind of backdoor? It still not official software (or at least the latter)...
hi
Hi,
I received a Moto Z Play from Banggood as exchange for another phone under warranty.
I unlocked the bootloader, and via fastboot with RSD lite I updated to nougat 7.1.1
but the chineese version fot XT1635-03. I got it from here :https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/addison_cn/RETCN/
This rom is much worse than the original one, it's a chineese rom with only chineese and english language, no play store, no googleapps, no chrome...
At this time, I don't find the way to flash another Rom.
edit: repaired flashing another 7.1.1 custom rom

If you install the Verizon version your device will update automatically
My bootloader was already unlocked when I got it from banggood, which is similar to gearbest.
Install this via rsd lite and you will have updates via ota:

Anyone know if it's possible to lock the bootloader of -03 using -01/-02 ROM?

No WiFI. No Imei - XT 1789-05

Hi guys,
I recently got a Moto Z2 Force XT1789-05 variant from Brazil which apparently tried to force an update to the pie but it must have been the wrong firmware so it lost imei and wifi. And it seems to relock the boot loader and have returned to oreo. Then I can not activate the OEM unlock, I even tried to use the internet from the PC via USB but still does not enable the option. I'm not sure what else to do does anyone know what to do ??? Help
Sorry my bad english

Its here
Since it's an -05 variant, with retbr, and has had pie flashed in some form I'd try flashing retbr pie firmware.
Firmware - https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmwar...ubsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
Flashall - https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4812854&d=1567089696
adb and fasboot files - https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4781024&d=1561215357
General guide on how to flash. Use the firmware and flashall I posted. - https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/how-to-return-to-stock-sprint-t3694783
It might not correct your problem, not sure how much of a mess is going on there, but this will be a good starting point. Just pay attention to what is going on and what (if any) errors you receive.

Nothing yet, I tried what you sent but as it has the bootloader locked I believe it is preventing.
Will I have to stay connected 7 days to enable OEM unlock?

No. You just need to sign into google on your phone to enable oem unlocking. Might try pairing bluetooth to get a connection if possible. Might try using the lenovo moto smart tool to see if it'll do a rescue on it. With a locked bootloader typically you can only flash official signed firmware that is either the version or newer. Again, depending on what kind of mess you've got there you might not get anything to flash.

I logged into my google account, but it doesn't enable OEM unlock yet, so the mess was big on it.

no once your boot loader is unlocked you will not be able to do firmware upgrades. while it is possible to trick the phone into thinking everything is normal it will always fail while trying to install the update. i have tried and it never worked. Although once you relock the boot loader even with knox tripped you will start recieving updates normally again.

yes you can downgrade your firmware as long as the bit number is the same. e.g. there is a number ln each firmware's name like U1, U2
these may be found in the middle of the firmware's name. if the firmware you are downgrading to has a lower bit than of the firmware currently installed it will not work. you will have to choose a firmware with the same bit version. thats why always be on the lookout when upgrading to newer firmwares. for me with SM-A325F the highest bit js U2 and most of the resources are for that firmware so im fine.
