[Q] Possibly hard bricked my phone?

After flashing a nightly of CM10.2, my phone never booted and instead got stuck in fastboot. My power button has also been broken for months, so it's impossible to navigate the menus in the fastboot ui. When I take my battery out, it automatically boots into fastboot on its own.
Additionally, I found a way to boot into recovery without a power button, but the device is not being recognized as plugged in by my computer.
Any help??? It'd be greatly appreciated, I'm without a phone until I can find a way to fix this.
Its simple, you need to setup the drivers for your computer to connect via fastboot. Then you can simply flash the stock images by google.

Flashed TWRP 2.7 - Pad is now dead!

I tried to flash the new ver of TWRP 2.7 - it appeared to be ok after flashing. I then tried to reboot and my Nexus 7 is DEAD!
It had appox 70 charge so I am pretty sure that is not the problem. I have tried to manually boot into recovery - same result nothing.
Anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix the problem?
Thanks much!

How were you flashing it? Manually or toolkit? Can you get to the bootloader? If so, fastboot flash the factory image.

Volume up + power= recovery.
Volume down + power=bootloader.
Neither of those work?

That is correct - Neither work, I have tried both many times.
I, also have connected it to my computer using the Nexus Tool Kit by Wugfresh. When I plug the usb cable into the Nexus there is a sound as if the computer sees the pad - but nothing works on the toolkit - it comes back saying it does no detect the ADB connection. it was working a couple of days ago when I used it.
STILL STUMPTED!

This is a stumper indeed.
How did you flash the new TWRP? Recovery, toolkit, or bootloader?
Are you using Windows? What shows up in the Windows Device Manager when you plug it into your computer?
This is a long shot, but sometimes you have to hold the power button down for more than a minute to get it to boot.

Hi -
I tried holding the power button down for over three minutes - no luck.
I downloaded the latest TRWP zip file from their website and then flashed it with the older version of TWRP - I thought I had done this before. Was that a bad move?
I am using Windows and the Device Manager shows the Yellow ! followed by "QHSUSB_Dload". I have no clue what that means - I hope it helps and someone recognizes it.
Thanks for the reply!

The TWRP site only has img files available for download, so I'm not sure which file you flashed.
I don't have any experience with qhusb_dload. Searching through the forums here didn't reveal much except to say that holding volume down and power eventually got to the bootloader.
Hopefully somebody else reading this has some ideas...

This is not true there is a flashable version too, that's how I flashed mine. Silly question have you plugged your pad into the mains charger for at least half an hour, and try again =hold down -volume and power botton. hope it works mate!

Bootloader is corrupt, no way one can bring it back on. I think you must have flashed recovery of some other device.
Send it back to asus or find someone who can jtag it.
Btw where are flashable zips of recovery on official twrp website? I have only seen img files

I cant boot my oneplus 3 at all

i installed cm14.1 today from the cyanogenmod website i had everything running fine until i reboot into recovery. i got a black screen and it didnt bot into recovery at all so i held my power button and volume down and nothing happens. i cant even boot up into fast boot or anything. nothing is turning my phone on. when i connect it to my pc nothing happens. is there anything i can do?
There's a mega unbrick guide for the OnePlus 3, use that then install the correct firmware and install the custom TWRP and re flash the ROM
i tried that method but the device doesnt even show up on my pc

Get this sorted yet? You'll need a modified TWRP recovery for the newest CM based builds. I went through the same thing yesterday or the day before. Try holding volume down and power for like 30 seconds until you feel it vibrate that it is rebooting. Then hold volume *UP* while it reboots or if you see the "your device is not safe..." flash screen hurry and press volume down and go into fastboot. From there you can fastboot flash a new recovery.
I had the same problem as well, in device manager go to ports (com & LPT) and it will show up there under qualcum device. Don't forget to go and turn off certificate verification
Thanks guys I'll try this after work. Hopefully it works. If not sure oneplus are hopefully releasing a new phone soon
No it didn't work. I have a feeling I deleted something I shouldn't have because I was clearing out my files before I restarted and that was that.
you gotta use special twrp recovery for cm14.1...
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=385035244224394867
Just use the recovery rahditzz provided you with a link, if your phone is stuck on black screen with white led hold your power button until it turns off, then boot to fastboot and flash the recovery and you will boot...

Are you pushing volume up while plugging in cable?
I am. To be honest its very complex too me. I'm new to android and all this is so hard. I follow steps but I'm not 100% sure what I doing. Also my computer isn't great. Do these methods work on vista? Is there a video tutorial or anything? Sorry for annoying you and you don't understand how thankful i am for your help.
I jeep getting the sahara communication failed error

Your running vista???? Good god update your OS!!
Maybe your fastboot drivers got updated? There were some reports around this. You could try reinstalling the drivers and following the unbrick guide without an internet connection.

Stuck in recovery

Hi,
My phone got a message about a virus which I assumed was a devious add, it wouldn't go away so I rebooted. It has gone into Mi-Recovery 3.0 and I cant get out. I've tried to connect to PC suite but it won't connect to my laptop
without debugging, which I can't do. I've wiped data but no good. Any ideas?
Flash full rom img via EDL mode and MiFlash software. Check out the official forums how to do it all.
For me the command fastboot oem edl works to get into edl mode.

Thank you for answering. I have downloaded a full rom and the MiFlash software. I have made an EDL cable but nothing happens. From what I read it says turn the phone off and connect the modified cable and it will enter EDL mode however it just stays on the Mi-Recovery 3.0 page. I've tried the command line you suggest but that can't find the phone. I've also tried the test point method and still can't get into edl mode. What am I doing wrong?
Sorry, I'm new to this so don't really know what I'm doing. Would you be able to give me some easy to follow advise or some links please.

You need your normal USB C cable. When you are in fastboot you need to type "fastboot oem edl" your screen will go to black and you are now in EDL mode. Now flash full img via miflash software.

I cant get to fastboot as I'm stuck in Recovery. My only choices are Reboot to System and Back to Main Menu. When I'm in Main Menu my choices are Reboot, Wipe Data or Connect with MIAssistant.

When you turn off the phone and press vol down + power what does that do?
It shows the Mi start screen then boots strait into recovery Main Menu. I can't turn the phone off without it rebooting.
Does anyone know how I can get around this? I've run out of things to try.
Did you try reflashing the recovery maybe that fixes it?

Can you explain how I do that? I can't connect to my computer so not sure what you mean. I'm new at this so unsure of the options.

Is there no way of getting out of stock recovery?
Maybe your volume rocker buttons are faulty .
Happened with one of my friend his device was only booting into recovery mode on reboot because vol+ button was permanently stuck ?
Try to lift up the button if it is stuck or
press button repeatedly for sometime .
Ashish 289, you are right, it was a faulty volume rocker. Once disconnected it booted. Thanks.

Can't access recovery mode after flashing LineageOS 14.1

Hello. I can't seem to access recovery mode after I flashed LineageOS 14.1 on my Asus Zenpad 8 Z380KL. I've tried to access the recovery mode by pressing volume up + power button together when restarting my device and by trying via command prompt to no avail. Both methods can give me access to recovery mode when I'm still using the stock Android. Because of this, I can't access TWRP. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for replying. I'm sorry it took me such a long time to respond, clinical rounds really do take your time and overall life away

I've tried that method but it does not work. All it does was a normal reboot even after I choose the recovery reboot option.

Assuming you have root access, install the "Flashify" app and if it will not let you reboot into recovery, you likely need to re-flash the recovery image. :fingers-crossed: You may have already tried this approach, but if not, it has worked for me in the past when all else has failed.
And yes, clinical rounds do get in the way, but it is not as if you can tell them to wait.

@knightofzealot, I know that this doesn't answer your question specifically but, I just wanted to let you know that the following is the Enhanced Tag link that's specific to your device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/asus-zenpad-8
It's just the first step for this device to get its own Device Dedicated area on the forum.
Good Luck!
