Hi,
I got my new G3 yesterday, and today noticed something kind of peculiar.
The notifications from WhatsApp don't appear in the notification scroll down screen.
I do feel a vibration, yet unless I get into WhatsApp, I'm unable to know if I got any new texts.
*Am using G3 TweakBox and Nova Launcher*
Any help?
Thanks.
P. S
is there a way to show notifications right on the lock screen? (like iOS)

Intresting issue. I never got any notification issue on my G3. Also if you want to see notifications on lock screen 3rd party apps will helps you. Here is lockscreen as you requested https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slidelock.
I greenified WhatsApp once.
Although now de-greenified, maybe this has something to do with the issues?
I just don't get it, I am getting old messages when I open the app, yet I do not get notifications for them when they are actually sent.
Anyone?

Hey guys i noticed 2 days ago that when i receive an sms i get two notifications (previously i had only one). The first one says that i have # new messages and when you click on it it takes you to the messages app where you see all the threads you have. And the second notification is the default one which has the sender and a preview of the sms message.
I didn't find the first notification anywhere neither in the guide or online but i only want the default notification with the sender and the preview...
In addition even if you click on the first notification it stays there but it says no new messages!!!
How do i disable this ???
edit: i uploaded screenshots that show this notification
edit2: i even disabled the notifications in the messages app and i don't get the sms preview notification but this one still comes up!!!
ok please a mod close this thread......it was from the beautifull widgets 2...i didn't have the sms widget on my home screens but it still was getting notifications.UNINSTALLED and everything ok
No No No - Dont close this
This has annoyed me for 4 days now and if this fixes it, then it needs to be left there....
Testing to see if it works now.......
Yup it works, Uninstalled the same app and we have lift off..
Thank you. this has dont my nut in all weekend.....
I have also had this problem for the last few days, but didn't connect Beautiful Widgets with it. Problem solved when BW uninstalled.

Only way to disable this is to install xposed with g3 tweakbox

Screen doesn't turn on for me when I get texts using stock messaging app. It's been that way out of the box, I never had to disable anything.
What model you have?

Yes, it's an annoying feature but unfortunately cannot be turned off if you use the stock messaging app. One option is to use 3rd party messaging like go message
I have just tested. Seems that hangouts doesn't turn on the screen

I have the D851 US T-Mobile variant. I use the stock SMS app and my screen does not turn on when I get a text or MMS. It was that way out of the box, I'm not using Hangouts, so I don't know how that works there.
I think I might have found the issue in message settings.

yes you have to uncheck notifications - display message notifications if you don't want the screen to turn when you receive an sms BUT you won't be notified with a message tone but only through the LED (color green).
new message pop-up - little popup box upper left corner on homescreen. only shows from whom and not some of the message if preview is unchecked.
preview - shows a preview of message.
if you only disable any of these two but still checked notifications, screen will still light up and you still get to hear message tone but no popup window on upper left of homescreen.
LG should fix these as some people still want the option hear the message tone when a text arrives but don't want the screen to turn on and also retain the option to turning the screen on for those who want it this way. not like this one wherein the only option you have if you want screen off when receiving message is the message tone is also disabled.
for now, tweaks from mods like tweaksbox perhaps will do.
confirmed tweak new message screen off from g3 tweaksbox works the way it should for those who want screen off when receiving new message but still want the message tone. just remember to restart phone when setting this option.

Hi All,
I've an S4 mini with stock rom 4.2.2 without any special app to manage notification
Since the first day of usage I'm very disappointed on how the phone manage the notification
Example, If I receive an useless msg from whatsapp I want to delete the notification permanently without read the messagge
So I swipe down the get the notification panel and I press delete button or I swipe right the whatsapp notification
The notification disappear but few hours later the notification is still present
I don't like this friendly unsless reminder!
It's me, the phone or android wrong?
Thanks you a lot
Stefano

its from the app not the phone mate ... if you have Facebook messenger you will see if you dismiss the message it wont reappear
that's a pain, the notification behaviour it's managed by the app not by the os!
that's mean that I haven't control how how the notification are manged
There is any app to give more control to the user? anyway to fix without root?
Thanks you?

Hello!
My wife has a LG G3 S (D772) and lately she has been receiving these weird notifications in black boxes on her home screen. She is running stock Lollipop ROM.
It's from a trusted retailer that we have bought from before but neither of us have seen these kind of notifications before. The button on the left says Save and the one on the right says Cancel. Here's what it looks like.
Anyone seen this before? What are these exactly?
Thanks!

Look in settings and permissions and see what can draw over the screen and notifications
Hi all,
I've been using Lineage OS 17.1 on my Galaxy Note 4 for a couple of weeks, and it's working almost perfectly, like having a new phone. The one thing I don't seem to be able to do is mute SMS notifications. In the Messaging app, under Settings, there is a button saying "Show notifications", but it's greyed out and I can't slide it off. Can anyone tell me how to enable this switch?
(I note that even when I set the phone to Total Silence, SMS notifications still come up on the lock screen, which I really don't want - I get way too many texts and I don't want them cluttering up the notifications area.)
Thanks

Thanks, that's an interesting idea. I'm curious to know why the default app has a slider though - it seems like someone designed it to be an option, so presumably there is a way to slide it off. Anyone know?

The default aosp apps have not really been updated for many years now. In the meantime much has changed in permission and notification handling of android.
