change bootanimation
if i have chosen stock bootanimation during the installation, will i still be able to change the bootanimation? i have tried to place a new bootanimation into system/media, move original bootanimation to root folder, wipe dalvik cache, but it still loaded the stock bootanimation.
Hi guys,
I've flashed the KK bootloader via ODIN and tried to install this ROM for 5100 via Philz.
My device keeps rebooting into recovery mode.
Any ideas?

@civato
I'm having the same issue.
5100 with Philz
Which modem and bootloader for my note? Pure stock 4.2.2. In the US.

Which version of PhilZ recovery are you using? If you are on 5, you need to upgrade to 6.

What do you mean by choose stock boot animation during install? In the aroma installer you have 2 options at the end and they are : to install factory Samsung kernel or Civato's custom kernel with custom boot animation support. The custom kernel is the one that will allow install of different boot animations.
A good app that will help you to install custom boot animation is: "Boot Animations" in the play store. There are also others that you can flash in recovery, just be careful when flashing to install, make sure the boot animation is for your device.
With Boot Animations, from the play store, it is much safer and it will allow you to pick from tons of downloadable animations. You must have the custom kernel installed in the aroma install though for this to work.
Enjoy. And I hope this helped.

This is all I found in his post #2 Q&A:
Miracast/Allshare support
If it doesn't work install Triangle away from the playstore and reset your counter and select the reset at reboot.
The custom kernel support it, I tested it and I have no problems.
Black screen with miracast= ask your miracast device (TV or player) manufactor to solve it, this is not a kernel rom problem.

I was excited to see an Allshare Cast Fix, but alas after trying various options all day, I just could not get my Samsung Home Theater or Allshare Hub to get past the loading screen. This would be the perfect rom if I could figure this out. ...An ideas guys?
Has anyone been able to get allshare cast with samsung dongle to work. I was excited and i love the rom, but it wont seem to connect even after i followed civato instructions to reset flash counter at boot. It says connecting, then it says failed to connect. Any help would this as it is one of the main features i would use daily. Donation in order for any help to get this working.

Admin Note: this thread has a dedicated questions and answers section which you can access here -->.
I tried two devices. EZCast doesnt work, got black screen with sound. Assume device/tv is wrong as civato mentioned. Chromecast doesnt work neither (with Mirror Enabler v6) it kept disconnecting from the dongle. I never experience screen casting before, please advise if i miss something.

I know this has been asked hundreds of times, and i searched the forums for days for a way to fix it, but with no use.
I have a rooted AT&T Galaxy SIII with JB 4.1.1. I am trying to install the CM 10.1(4.2.2) Nightly version, but i always get the infamous "Status 7 Installation Aborted" error.
Yes i am sure im downloading the correct ROM zip file for my phone and carrier.
I have CWM 6.0.2.1, and i followed the steps correctly. (Clear data -> Clear Cache Partition -> Clear Dalvik Cache -> install ROM)
I have tried so many times, i also re-rooted my phone, reinstalled CWM, and redownloaded different nightly versions of the ROM, as well as other ROMS like JellyBam.
I also tried to delete the assert lines in the update-script file, but that also wouldnt work.
Thank you. :good:
And please dont hate on me, im new to rooting and flashing. :crying:

if you can boot into the phone, download ROM manager and update your cwm recovery. latest version is 6.0.2.8.
CM10 and 10.1 are picky about you having the most recent version. cheers

Hi guys, I'm having same issue but on N7000 international version. I'm able to go in the recovery mode and download mode but phone won't boot normally. It's stuck on Samsung logo so can you please advise something? How can I update CWM if that's the issue. I was on ICS 4.0.4 XXLRK before trying to install CM10.1 on Note.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would be doing my research in an N7000 forum, friend.
Also, your post seems confusing as you seem to be saying you also got a status 7 error but then you appear to have installed abroad and are stuck at the boot logo. If you successfully flashed the correct rom for your device without any errors, pull battery, replace and wipe data in recovery. Reboot

If the phone itself is functioning fine but you simply cannot flash a new rom or rom update, you need to update your recovery. Go to clockworkmods website and download version 6.0.1.2.

I would take up this situation in the correct forum. The more we discuss your device issues the more likey you are to download the wrong file or use a procedure not designed for your device software.
If you came from stock, flashed a rom and are stuck at the samsung logo, boot into recovery, wipe data and cache. Reboot to see if that helped. If not, seek advice in the N7000 forum. Cheers
Thanks for the guidance.
Hey guys,
I noticed no one talked about this issue on forums or in an article, so I decided to post my solution that it worked for me. I will try to explain as much as I can. I also wanna say that I am not a developer. Before I start.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE ON YOUR DEVICE OR ANYTHING HAPPEN TO IT WHAT SO EVER. IF ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOUR DEVICE, ITS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY
Read all the way to the end
This is for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 T-Mobile (SGH-T889). I didnt try it on other variants but I believe it should work. Anyway, this method is for stock ROM only. I no longer support custom ROMs. If you wanna try it with a custom ROM then good luck. I hope it works for you.
Here is what I did:
1. Make sure you have Stock ROM 4.1.2 (UVBMD1). If you dont then go here http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-tutorials/how-to-unrootunbrick-galaxy-note-2-with-stock-firmware/
2. Root your device. I used ChainFire method. Here is a "How to" http://honai-android.blogspot.com/2013/06/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-t-mobile-sgh.html
3. Try to connect. If it didnt work then download Triangle Away from "Play Store".
4. Go into Triangle Away to reset the flash counter.
5. Try to connect now. It should work for sure ^_^
Optional:
If you want Custom Recovery then:
6. Install the Custom Recovery you want. I tried TWRP
7. Use Triangle Away to reset the flash counter.
8. Try to connect. It should work
If anyone have a question please let me know. I will be more than glad to help you guys.
If I helped you please Press Thanks and Good Luck :fingers-crossed:
Note: I noticed when I go to TWRP. The dongle don't work again. So, I use Triangle Away one more time and things works back perfectly.
Did this work with a custom kernel? In my experience it must be stock. I'd ve happy to find out I am wrong.

I didnt think about it previously. It seems you were right. It is the stock kernel. So right now i am wandering if I can flash a custom kernel. So my phone will be like this:
Custom ROM (Jedi Master 13)
Custom Kernel
Stock boot img
Is it possible?
By the way, what can you do with a custom kernel beside increasing the cpu from 1600 to 1920? btw I am just asking because I really didnt do that much research on kernel yet. Plus, Note 2 is my first android phone :cyclops:

In my experience no, the syscope service verifies the kernel, lack of superuser access, the sysscope binary itself, among other things. I tried a stock kernel with only init.d support added and that failed.
I have custom recovery (TWRP) and SuperSU. Triangle Away works wonders with flashing and SuperSU. There is a "sysscope blaster" module for the xposed framework that can help with more heavily modded custom ROMs. Both didn't help when I ran a custom kernel on an otherwise stock ROM.
I wanted a custom kernel primarily for init.d support to plug the data leak in my firewall app. I was also interested in overclocking and undervolting. Init.d support I manage through a workaround, so in my case I am only without OC/UV. SetCPU even on the stock kernel is a fair alternative here.
Same here I had an iPhone 3GS before this.

I've also been looking for a way to do all of this and will try your steps. But last time I checked, Jedi Master rom does not have the AllShare Cast utility in it. How did you get the Allshare connection utility into Jedi Master?

Hey guys,
Here is what I did:
1. Rooted my stock ROM 4.1.2 using Galaxy note 2 Toolkit 4.1.0 "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923956".
2. Installed Custom Recovery "TWRP"
3. Flashed Custom ROM "Jedi Master 13"
4. Did a Back-up using TWRP to my external SD card (Very Recommended)
5. Download and flashed "Stock boot img" for T-mobile note 2 SGH-T889. To flash the stock boot img, you can use the Toolkit:
a. Enter your phone# (My phone was #72)
b. Enter Root/Unroot option (# 2)
c. Enter #6 to flash the stock ROM related to your phone model#
d. Then follow instructions...
6. Now download and use "Triangle Away" to do its magic. I checked my flash counter and it was "1". Its alright

Maybe (probably!) I'm confused, but if you flash JM in step 3, then later flash the stock rom in step c, won't that overwrite your JM installation?

Edit: Never mind on this, just opened toolkit (which I haven't used in a long time) and I see it's right there. Still wondering about Allshare Cast in JM.
No worries, we got it! But one more question, if you don't mind. Where are you getting the stock boot img? Is this a flashable zip from somewhere, or is this done in Odin in the toolkit? Really appreciate all your work!
Success!
Hey, just wanted to report that I went through the steps and installed JM13, and then used toolkit to push the stock boot image. And sure enough, it all works! Turns out I missed AllShare Cast in JM13 before because it wasn't in the toggles. BUT, there is a widget for it that you can drag to a home screen. Tested it out and works great with the dongle. Thanks for posting all this!
Edit: I should add that anyone doing this should know that some of the kernel-related tweaks in JM will not work without it's own Saber kernel installed. So after pushing the stock boot image, which overwrites Saber and restores the stock kernel, Voodoo sound for sure does not work, and probably some of the Jedi cpu tweaks, haven't tried those.
I just came back home to replay ur previous post. I am very glad that it worked for u. I hope this trick will work on all custom roms based on touchwize. If there is a tester out to try my method that will be great.
I also hope this thread become sticky. Because there isn't anyone online that wrote a solution for it.
Thanks

I think the big issue with this working on any custom rom is gonna be the kernel issue. JM is custom but still pretty close to stock. Or at least closer than probably any other rom. So pushing the stock kernel instead of the one the rom dev provided could cause some pretty bad things on some roms that really depend on the kernel.
The best part of this trick is to have rooted ROM and AllShare cast dongle. It's much better than stock ROM not rooted. So now u can enjoy root features which everyone needs and a big screen with ur phone desktop.

Thank you very much for your kind and sharing it with us.
I just bought the Allshare Cast Dongle, and I'm having a real problem with this dang thing. I went from iphone3 to GN2, so I'm very noob on rooting stuff, so please bare with me.
I follwed the youtube video to root my device to TRWP custom rom/recovery, but it wont work with Allshare Cast Dongle since it is a custom rom. I did some research and people said I have to use Triangle Away to reset the binary counter to 0, so i did that, but my binary counter was still at 1! It still didnt work with Allshare Cast Dongle.
Then I used Triangle Away again to reset the binary counter, and then went into Odin Download Mode to flash the Stock Recovery. The dang Allshare Cast Dongle still didnt work!
I did remove some bloatwares before, so I'm not sure if this has to do with it.
Is there anyway you or someone can help me solve this problem?
Also, whats the difference between stock recovery and stock boot,
and could you give me the link to the Stock boot file?
I have T-mobile GN2 and I really dont want to unroot and do the factory reset... I have alot of stuff on my phone.
Thank you very much

According to your description you did one mistake in your steps.
You need to flash Stock BOOT img and keep the Custom Recovery. The Custom Recovery is very useful tool. You can flash Custom ROMs, Themes, or any .zip file.
After you flashing stock boot img, then you will use Triangle Away. As I mentioned in my OP, even if you still have the counter on 1, it doesn't matter.
After you boot into the system just go ahead and connect to Allshare Cast Dongle.
I hope it will work for you. Anyway let me know if you have any problem.

is it possible that you give me the link to Tmobile SGH-T889 stock Boot img?
Also, since I have already flashed the stock recovery, is it going to be a problem when flashing Stock Boot img with Odin?

First I am still not responsible to anything happen to your device. but here is the way that I would do it on my own device:
1. Flash Custom Recovery TWRP. to make it easier for you to flash a custom ROM (Jedi Master 13).
2. Flash Jedi Master 13
4. Flash Stock Boot Img. as for the file, Galaxy note 2 Toolkit will download those files for you. Follow the instructions on the toolkit and you should be able to flash the Stock Boot img.
5. use the Triangle Away. it doesnt matter if the flash counter=1 nor Modified. The reason we are using Triangle Away because it "resets binaries".
6. After that connect to your Dongle
Note: After doing all the steps. if you went to the Custom Recovery in the future for any reason, you will have to use Triangle Away again. I noticed when every-time i go to custom recover to do something, I wont be able to connect to AllShare cast dongle. So use Triangle away to reset your binaries and you should be fine.

Thank you very much for the details step by step instructions.
I've flashed stock recovery before, but I do not think my phone is on stock recovery because I have removed some bloatwares after I rooted, so i believe Samsung did not allow me to switch back to stock recovery unless I do the factory reset, and then flash stock firmware.
However, I'm not sure if that was the case since I dont know how to check my phone to see if it's still on custom or stock recovery
After I flashed the stock recovery, my phone still boots up and works just like I had before.
I think I just need to flash the Jedi Madter 13 without having to flash TWRP custom recovery again.
As far as Stock Boot .img, I dont see any option that says Stock Boot .img anywhere on gn2 toolkit, I only saw
option#3: Flash insecure Boot image Only, for adb access.. is this the right option on GN2 toolkit menu?
I'm sorry to ask you so many questions, but I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing because I cant really afford another GN2
Thanks alot for your patience helping me.

T-Mobile model (SGH-T889). One more thing, watch the video all the way to end make sure you understand then do it step by step.
http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-tutorials/how-to-unrootunbrick-galaxy-note-2-with-stock-firmware/
Note: Custom Recovery is used to flash custom ROMs and do nand back-up, also some other useful things. So, I strongly recommend that you keep custom recovery.
I really hope this will help you. I guarantee if you went back to stock and follow the steps then your phone should be connected to the dongle.
Good luck:fingers-crossed:

Hi everyone!
I have just bought a Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110). and I had flashed TWRP and rooted it, HOWEVER, after I tried to boot into recovery using "Quick Boot", the system keeps going into Recovery no matter what.
I have tried to use Odin to reflash the recovery, and I have tried to flash a different custom ROM (StockRom-V1.1-T110) using recovery, but whenever it reboots, it just goes straight to recovery.....
How can I fix this?
Please help!

I didn't know how to just flash the kernal, so I flash the stock firmware with odin.
and everything works now.
download THIS
and extract the file, and use odin to flash it, doesn't take that long, but all the apps and settings will be reset.
To install stock firmware, go to this THREAD, and watch "GALAXY TAB 3 UNBRICK AND RESTORE", great tutorial by Rootjunky

got you and thank you for your time .. now does this other file even matter usually they dont come in these tar zips
SS_DL.dll whats that for
Same situation. I rooted it fine. Installed a custom rom. No issues. Then it asked to update the supersu binary. Did that and now it keeps booting into TWRP no matter what I do. Gonna start fresh and this time I'll not use TWRP to update the binary I guess.
To fix the booting in recovery
flash stock recovery with oodin
now go to stock recovery
select clear cache
it will show error (and recovery crashes) and tab will boot normally.

Problems installing Boot Menu on OUYA
Hi,
I followed the instructions to load CM11 on my OUYA, I flashed CWM 6.0.4.8, Boot Menu v2.0.4, CM11 Nightly, Gapps and the Key mapping zips all from CWM Recovery (latest version) and the OUYA rebooted into CM11, set up all ok, very happy so far.
However it struck me when I rebooted that I didn't get a new boot menu, so I tried flashing again and I don't see any errors it just comes back to recovery and when I reboot there is no boot menu! I did not sideload the files using ADB I flashed the zips from recovery.
Previously when running stock OUYA (rooted) I could not flash recovery and it would not update and I suspect that this was a permission issue as it only worked when I reloaded SU. Is it possible that permissions are blocking the installation of the boot menu and if so how can I fix this?
Please note I am a real Newby by name and just a user, I really have no programming experience but am happy to do whatever to resolve the problem. So any advice is appreciated. Having CM11 is a great improvement.
Cheers
Paul.

Ok I re tried loading the zip from CWM and as before it looks to install without any issue, this time I found the log under advanced and it showed success. I then rebooted and again I don't see the bootmenu.
Do you think that it is possible that it is installed but for some reason not showing up on the TV? I have a suspision that it is loaded and booting after the time out as the screen goes blank for about 10 seconds before the Cynogenmod logo appears. how can I test if I can't see it, does the boot menu respond to the keyboard, if so is it two down arrows and and return to get to recovery?
Cheers
Paul.
Hi, I have installed this marvellous boot system with cm rom. Now I want to install the new stock rom update. I download the ota zip but I don't know how I must install it with this boot. Remember to reboot into the new recovery (6.0.48) BEFORE flashing the bootmenu!
I got that problem as well. It just means that you need to reboot the Ouya once again. You can't flash the new recovery module and the bootmenu zips in one go. Instead you have to flash 6.0.48 while in the older recovery (6.0.32), reboot and then you can flash the bootmenu zip without any error.
I just wanted to note that a couple of TVs I've tried don't lock to the hdmi signal until the boot menu is gone. This means you won't see the boot menu even though it is there and functioning correctly.
If you push the power button once or twice about 3 seconds after you power on the ouya, you will actually be selecting from the boot menu and that will cause the boot menu screen to persist (hopefully) until the TV or monitor locks.
Not my work but it works now.

Kernel fixes hardware issues
and if I'm on note 5 moar rom with patch.... no issue flashing right?
Sky-high made us a kernel? Sweet sadistic smiles, success! So happy. Anyone know if it'll work like the LP patch did for note roms, or does more need to happen first? Or do people just need to start trying and report back?
-edit-
Clicked the link and saw it was a note 5 Rom. What can I say, I was excited!

Oh I'm setting everything up right now for the flash! I'm so excited. Once I realized you linked to a note 5 Rom most of my questions got answered. My favorite part, the kernel was posted on my bday.
i tried wiping and clearing cache then flashing the rom and the kernel. nothing actually happens to my phone. i end up on the same home screen and apps i had installed on moar 5.1.1 with note 5 patch.
any ideas why wiping my phone doesnt work on twrp 3.0.0.0?

Update your TWRP.
https://dl.twrp.me/zenltespr/
yea I tried doing that with Odin and it would freeze mid way. I also tried flashing a twrp update zip file on twrp and that didn't work either.
you think I should flash with flash fire?
bricked my phone by trying to flash newer version of twrp with twrp manager
been trying to flash unbrick tar and pit file to get back up and running but its not working.
any help is much appreciated
fixed the brick by flashing new recovery in Odin, now on 3.0.2. still can't get the phone to wipe out install new rom and kernel

Have you checked for root with root checker? I have lost root access a few times in the past?
yea I just checked with root checker and I have root access.
I've never had this happen to me... weird
anything else you can think of?

Last thing I can think of is when opening TWRP the first time. It asks if you want to make the system 'read only'. Did you select No?
I never got that message when I flashed twrp 3.0.2 to unblock... how do I make it show up?

Not sure. You can click mount and see what is mounted. I am not sure that will work. I am not sure exactly what you are trying to wipe, but mount the items you are attempting to wipe and make sure the read-only is unchecked.
Try this:
Check to see if oem is checked
Re-root via root tar/odin
twrp 3.0.0.1 from edge files post in general
Backup stock
Wipe
Flash Moar
Don't reboot
Flash skyhigh kernel
Flash xposed(don't have to)
Reboot
Allow it to boot loop a couple time (from sky kernel)
Give 5-10 minutes to boot
I just did it with no issues and I've personally had more luck with 3.0.0.1 than any of the others.
heres my issue...twrp doesnt do anything for me (all versions) whether i wipe or install
so i used flashfire to flash the rom and the kernel at once and it finally displayed aroma installer (wouldnt get that in twrp)
however, after it in stalled i got stuck on boot screen
the only fix for this was flashing unbrick aok3 tar file which brought me to stock
i put on twrp as a recovery again starting fresh unrooted and it still doesnt respond to any of my commands
i think i will try flash fire on stock one more time and see what happens since its the only thing that is responding

Your on Lp bootloader that's your issue.
Download Marshmallow tar from the general post I made for rooting Bpg1.
Flash tar and follow post.
twrp. 3.0.x.x is more for marshmallow. You need to be on 6.0.1 not 5.1.1.
Don't use fireflash on this device.
Fireflash is more for phones with locked bootloaders like Verizon s4 on the of1 update.
Fireflash isn't really up to date with our phone and could easily brick your device.
