Did you ever figure this out? I"m having the same issue.
Can't flash a ROM on Tab 3 7.0 t210r
I am rooted, first thing I did after purchase.
Am currently running 4.1.2, build jzo54k.t210rueamk1
I have flashed PhilZ Touch 6, 6.44.9, ClockworkMod 6.0.4.9 from here:
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/lt02wifi/
I have tried to flash the following ROMs:
Stockrom Series Ultimate Edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489395
RocketTab v3.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507772
Flash fails with:
Installation aborted (bad), can't open <path to zip file><name of zip>
This happens after a factory reset, wipe data, cache.
I have a Samsung S3 that I have rooted, and then flashed many times. Before that I had an HTC EVO. I am not new to the process, but apparently I am missing something here.
Got any suggestions?
Which Odin Version you are used to install The Recovery? Try an other Version.
Is your Rom on The micro Sdcard ? If you use Philz so is The max capacity 32 GB, if you use TWRP so is max 64 GB supported.

I didn't use Odin to flash the recovery. Downloaded the zip and flashed via recovery.
I have tried with the ROM on the external and internal SD. Same results.

How do you rooted your Tab?
With Stockrecovery you can not flash a Rom or Recovery.
Flash Philz or TWRP With Odin, reboot to The New flashen Recovery , than you can install a Rom.
All information for The right steps you will find at dev Sektion.

Sounds like the rom download is bad. Check the md5 of the rom before trying to install.
Kind of success. I downloaded the same version of PhilZ, for Odin, on my laptop.
I put the tablet in download mode and flashed the recovery with Odin.
I downloaded the ROM again (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-stockrom-kitkat-version-16-08-2014-t2849742). This is one I had tried before. This time to my laptop and copied it to the tablet. The other times, I had downloaded the ROM directly onto the tablet.
While it was in the process of flashing, there were some video anomolies.
I rebooted the tablet into recovery and flashed the ROM. It hung on SAMSUNG for a very long time after the flash and reboot. I powered it off and rebooted. It booted completely this time, but not without some issues. The first thing was when the message pops up that Android is optimizing apps. That bar was all screwy looking, snowy. (see attached image)
Once I got to the lock screen and entered the pin, the screen "fractured", pieces shifted around, and the tablet locked up. I wish I had taken a picture of it. Never seen anything like it.
I had not done a data wipe yet. I did a data wipe, rebooted, entered the pin, tablet locked up again.
I then was going to restore the backup I made before the flashing. It wouldn't restore because of an MD5 mismatch. I had restored this backup previously with no problem.
I restored an older backup and then spent a couple of hours getting everything back to the level of the now broken backup.
Flash nolekat and all went fine.
I've had problems as well. I normally flash via a recovery. At times I'll have an md5 mismatch or it just doesn't work; I've even backed up a working ROM only to find out I can't restore the same backup. Seems like a hit or miss with me
I tried flashing NoleKat and it failed on me too.

At one of your post you write after flashing you must put in the Pin?
So you have make not a clean install or factory reset, you done a wipe cache and wipe dalvik.
You must do a clean install if you come from different Roms or Version.

Hi all, I was on AKOP's milestone ROM before trying to flash their newest one. I did not do anything to the kernel or anything by the way.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.2.7 and I rebooted into recovery and flashed super dark side wipe and then JB-MR1 and then gapps.
I went through the entire start up process with inputting your information and then finally I got into the actual home screen. I clicked around to see how the UI looked and then decided to reboot through the menu.
It was in the rebooting animation icon for at least 30 min before I decided to pull the battery. I want to wipe and start again but my cwm recovery isn't installing anything.
EDIT: The phone still works as I can boot into the phone and use it. I'm trying to reboot now: power button hold>reboot, but its taking ages still...need help on this reboot thanks
Any help here?
EDIT 2: Pretty much phone is "functional" but any method of trying to reboot or reboot into recovery fails
Thanks all!
Check the Md5 hash to make sure it is a good download.
Otherwise it sounds like it is CWM that can be causing issues.
Which version of gapps are you flashing?

Checked the Md5 with an app and it matches up perfectly with akop's main website.
I'm running 6.0.2.8 cwm. Is it even possible that its cwm? I used the same version to flash AKOPs new ROM.
and im flashing gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip
Does it have anything to do with my kernel?
You aren't supposed to use super wipe with cwm 6. That is probably your problem.

Thanks so much for pinpointing the problem! Is there a fix to this?
And is this the recommended method of flashing? (Taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926754):
1. Wipe factory data/reset
2. Wipe cache
3. Go into mounts and storage
4. Format /system
5. Format /data
6. Format /cache
7. Enter advanced
8. Wipe dalvik
9. Flash ROM then gapps
10. Reboot and let the ROM settle for 5-10 minutes if flashing TW ROMs, this step is unnecessary for AOSP based ROMs.
11. (Optional) if flashing a new radio flash AFTER the ROM has been initially booted for the first time. No wipes are necessary when flashing a new radio but it HAS to be flashed after the ROM is loaded and settled in. Flashing a radio first and then a ROM has caused issues like the phone not even recognizing there is a network for it. ( phone remains in emergency mode )
Edit:
Pretty sure my phone is bricked now... in a continuous boot up loop... BUT i can still access recovery

Yes, those are the proper flashing instructions for CWM6.
It sounds like you have a soft brick. I think your best bet is to Odin back to stock. Have a look here:

I'll try this at once!!
I have 2 questions though.
1. in regard to kernels. Do i need to do anything (aka change my kernel?) Or is the stock kernel suitable for 4.2.1?
2. If i cant boot into my phone to get to my SD card, how do i download and put files onto my phone?

Stock kernel is just fine.
Odin will flash the stock OS to your phone from the computer. Make sure to read the Odin directions a few times before trying it because it could hard brick if something goes wrong.

I'm trying to read through the thread you gave me but its kinda cluttered and its hard finding exactly where to start...pointers?
From the first post of that thread you will need
1. The prerequisites
-Odin
-Drivers
-Kies(dunno if this is mandatory but I guess it couldn't hurt.)
2. T-Mobile t989 uvlhi stock ROM(Odin)
You will need some type of zip software to extract the files from this.
3. Follow the steps under Installation - Odin installation(skip step 1)
After you get the stock ROM running you can install custom recovery and then flash your custom ROMs.

I actually got cwm 5.0.2.7 on my phone through odin. I just need root now to upgrade it to the most recent version.

Do i need busybox? Or can i just flash superuser through cwm recovery 5.0.2.7?

Hello,
I try to flash again Pimpdroid after full wipe, but it's not the good way...
I flash again latest stock Sammy ROM but the tablet reboot all time in recovery (TWRP).
I flash by odin but after few minutes flash fail.
I try to flash stock or Pimpdroid by CWM, but doesn't work too: locked on Sammy Tab 3 boot screen.
Sometimes on recovery I can read /system and /data can't be mounted.
I just want to wake up my tablet to use it. :good:

You probably made the same mistake I made the first time which was wiping "system" before flashing Pimpdroid. You need to Odin back to stock my friend. Odin flash TWRP and this time just do a "regular" wipe (Dalvik cache, cache, data) and then flash Pimproid. Good luck.
Yeah, I know. But I only find *.zip who can't be used with Odin. Thus I decompress with 7zip and make a *.tar.
But after few minutes "Fail!".

Go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and search for your device there. Do not mind the language of any ROM's. It is only for restoring so that you will be able to flash a custom ROM. Like Pimpdroid.
The file you will download is a .zip but if you unpack you get a .tar.md5 which you can use with ODIN.
And remember next time flashing: do NOT wipe /system. I as well made the same mistake.
Good luck!

Thank you for your answer. But in my first post I explain I have tried to install via TWRP / CWM / Odin a ROM. The stock rooted one from Restless (Not Pimpdroid):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625805
I flashed with TWRP: All done but bootloop on recovery.
I flashed with CWM: All done but reboot on Samy logo for hours.
I flash with Odin: Start the job by flashing all the small stuff, after few minutes copying the ROM I have a "Fail!" from Odin.
I can flash recoveries. But with CWM and TWRP I read in dedicated locations there is problem with mounting and/or formating partitions:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B62i2-Agz8wwb3BpZGxnN3VZaEU&usp=sharing
Ok with the Sammobile ROM:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=26250
Doesn't work with Restless stock ROM. There is a gap of 400MB between the both...
Thank you all. :good::silly::laugh:
so, i flashed the kitkat bootloader from odin, then flashed the zip from philz touch recovery. the kernel splash screen stayed on for a long time, then the screen went out, and it loaded to the kernel splash, then to recovery. then i realized i hadnt wiped, so i flashed the kitkat stock rom through odin, installed philz touch recovery, did a full wipe, then installed the zip, and the same thing happened. being a new member with less than 10 posts i cant post on the official thread, so... whats the deal? what could the problem be?

in aroma choose the stock kernel option. I had the same bootloop problem ....it kept going into recovery.
After choosing the stock kernel everything was smooth.
off course pls confirm that you are using the correct ROM version
for 5100 version is 1.2
1.3 is only for 5110
I didn't see any kernel options let me make a nandroid and run it again. and yeah I have the 5110. Thanks
hey, i reinstalled it, there were no kernel options, but i left the bootanimation option on stock samsung, and i had been using the XAR region, so i tried btu this time, because thats what the stock rom i have installed is. still crashes to recovery
EDIT: and after restoring my nandroid, i get to the rom splash screen, and it just loops there.

thats the thing.... i flashed it, i have stock rooted kitkat running fine, i have philz recovery running fine, but when i try to flash the custom kitkat rom, i wipe, flash the zip, the aroma installer boots i choose a few options, the aroma installer completes, then i reboot and it just crashes to recovery, no matter how many times i try, how many factory resets i do, anything. knox is tripped, but i can't run the rom. i had the 4.2.2 custom touchwiz from the same developer running fine, but then i decided i had to have kitkat, and.... nothing. it simply won't run.
if it matters, i am already running the same stock rom you linked to, 4.4.2 btu

Ok, so first try to validate the MD5 of the file that you are installing.
if you are installing "CivZ-FlexNote8.0_KK-Rev1.3-N5110_signed.zip" then the MD5 should match as below:
b8abeb1ec9535ef526d02ef402788359
Validate the MD5 in PC as well as Tablet. Sometime you get a good download on PC, but when you copy it to Phone/tablet file might not get copied properly.
Second option you can try to install another 4.4.2 based ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2763274
Again validate the MD5 before installing.

http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/n5110/philz_touch_6.41.6-n5110.tar.md5
the other guy who was boot looping, that is the link to the recovery you should use. everything will be fine with that one

Thanx my man...u hit it right on the head...Wrong Recovery...I hope everyone who has this problem reads ur post...Thanx again Buddy...:good::good:
I rooted the phone 3 times, with and without the toolkit. It says successful each time and I can use Titanium backup. I tried to de-knox (wasn't told to do so) but it says it can't find root. Root checker says I'm rooted and I have TWRP.
What in the world could I have done wrong.
Any help would be helpful.

So the first thing I noticed is, you listed the bold above. That means the rom is flashed? Thats my rom. Its stock and you even show the correct kernel. (although I would update to a newer one). Next thing is, after you download use an MD5 checker and compare to the rom thread or AFH next time. This will indicate if there are issues with the download or the file itself after moving it. Report back for us so we can proceed to help you further
Have you tried full unroot through SuperSU app and reflash latest SuperSU via recovery ?
OK. So I completely bricked the phone trying to get this to work.
I was able to download the ORIGINAL stock unrooted rom.
I rooted it again after getting it back up. I tried to flash a couple of ROMS, but TWRP just continues to reset back to TWRP menu when I flash. So I changed to Philz. Aborts each time
It sounds to me like the best plan at this point would be to Odin back to stock and start over. Something went wrong somewhere!
Yeah. If you can get into download mode then you didn't brick. Download the stock tar and try again.
I already restored it back to stock. I've done this 3x now. I'm stock again now, but each time I use the toolkit and reboot, when I try to flash ANY rom, it says failed or corrupt.
I've tried philz and TWRP. Both are giving the same results
I've rooted several phones and no issue. I was able to install one earlier before I bricked the first time, but the radio/data kept having issues even after I did the fix so I tried another rom, but to no avail.

you do know we could always skip the step thats probably not playing nice for you, the toolkit.
Odin Stock NK2 tar
Odin TWRP
Boot into TWRP
Flash Custom rom (all come prerooted nowadays)
Profit.
alternative to that is:
Odin Stock NK2 tar
Odin CF-autoroot
Odin Recovery Of choice
enjoy stock rooted or Reboot to recovery and flash custom recovery of choice.
Well, I just tried that also with the newest TWRP 2.8.4.0 and it didn't take through ODIN. The guy fell over when I went to see it as the the phone tried to do the update.
I used ODIN to download Philz and it took.
I then tried to flash Liquid Smooth and it aborted saying it can't open /storage/sdcard1/LS-LP-v4.0-2015-01-16- liquid_trltespr.zip (bad)
The I tried to /storage/sdcard1/cm-12-20150116-UNOFFICIAL-trltespr.zip (bad) and it aborted again

Now that none of these options worked (for some strange reason), I went back to the toolkit and re-rooted the phone and got rid of knox, added busybox, etc... Now I AM rooted again, but none of the roms will install.
I have a rooted phone that can't flash.
I tried all of the roms that I downloaded to my sd card, but none seem to work.
Even though I have a new 128 gb sandisc ultra, is it possible that I have a bad card??
I'm just baffled. I've been rooting phones for years, but this one is strange.
Is there a way to use odin to flash a rom?? I know it would have to be a tar file
Definitely yes... Put the rom on the internal memory and you will be good to go!

Unless your card is bad (or your drivers on your pc) the problems you are experiencing are still unfortunately most likely internet connection or user related errors. You don't detail your steps carefully. This is important in this situation.
Try downloading a ROM to your computer and transfer it to the internal storage. Also, how are you using philz recovery, I thought only twrp worked for our phone. Download the right recovery here, flash with Odin in PDA slot from download mode. http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/266
UPDATE!!!!!
Thanks EVERYBODY... I used my old 4GB SanDisk mini card and it is still good.
I downloaded the rom to the card and it took immediately.
The 128GB card that I bought is junk.
It is rooted and I have an AWESOME rom now.
Thanks agian EVERYONE for all of your help
Not my work but it works now.
How to
Reboot in recovery
Wipe device
Flash Rom and kernel:
Download for rom:
Flash this after:
Reboot
Recommend using twrp 3.0.0.1
what about the hardware keys? do they work with moar rom and this kernel or do we need virtual hardware keys?

Kernel fixes hardware issues
and if I'm on note 5 moar rom with patch.... no issue flashing right?
Sky-high made us a kernel? Sweet sadistic smiles, success! So happy. Anyone know if it'll work like the LP patch did for note roms, or does more need to happen first? Or do people just need to start trying and report back?
-edit-
Clicked the link and saw it was a note 5 Rom. What can I say, I was excited!

Oh I'm setting everything up right now for the flash! I'm so excited. Once I realized you linked to a note 5 Rom most of my questions got answered. My favorite part, the kernel was posted on my bday.
i tried wiping and clearing cache then flashing the rom and the kernel. nothing actually happens to my phone. i end up on the same home screen and apps i had installed on moar 5.1.1 with note 5 patch.
any ideas why wiping my phone doesnt work on twrp 3.0.0.0?

Update your TWRP.
https://dl.twrp.me/zenltespr/
yea I tried doing that with Odin and it would freeze mid way. I also tried flashing a twrp update zip file on twrp and that didn't work either.
you think I should flash with flash fire?
bricked my phone by trying to flash newer version of twrp with twrp manager
been trying to flash unbrick tar and pit file to get back up and running but its not working.
any help is much appreciated
fixed the brick by flashing new recovery in Odin, now on 3.0.2. still can't get the phone to wipe out install new rom and kernel

Have you checked for root with root checker? I have lost root access a few times in the past?
yea I just checked with root checker and I have root access.
I've never had this happen to me... weird
anything else you can think of?

Last thing I can think of is when opening TWRP the first time. It asks if you want to make the system 'read only'. Did you select No?
I never got that message when I flashed twrp 3.0.2 to unblock... how do I make it show up?

Not sure. You can click mount and see what is mounted. I am not sure that will work. I am not sure exactly what you are trying to wipe, but mount the items you are attempting to wipe and make sure the read-only is unchecked.
Try this:
Check to see if oem is checked
Re-root via root tar/odin
twrp 3.0.0.1 from edge files post in general
Backup stock
Wipe
Flash Moar
Don't reboot
Flash skyhigh kernel
Flash xposed(don't have to)
Reboot
Allow it to boot loop a couple time (from sky kernel)
Give 5-10 minutes to boot
I just did it with no issues and I've personally had more luck with 3.0.0.1 than any of the others.
heres my issue...twrp doesnt do anything for me (all versions) whether i wipe or install
so i used flashfire to flash the rom and the kernel at once and it finally displayed aroma installer (wouldnt get that in twrp)
however, after it in stalled i got stuck on boot screen
the only fix for this was flashing unbrick aok3 tar file which brought me to stock
i put on twrp as a recovery again starting fresh unrooted and it still doesnt respond to any of my commands
i think i will try flash fire on stock one more time and see what happens since its the only thing that is responding

Your on Lp bootloader that's your issue.
Download Marshmallow tar from the general post I made for rooting Bpg1.
Flash tar and follow post.
twrp. 3.0.x.x is more for marshmallow. You need to be on 6.0.1 not 5.1.1.
Don't use fireflash on this device.
Fireflash is more for phones with locked bootloaders like Verizon s4 on the of1 update.
Fireflash isn't really up to date with our phone and could easily brick your device.
