Unable to flash AOSP/AOKP without limited functionality. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

The title says it all. Not sure why, but I can use Quantum with no issues. I can install apps, backup and restore without issues. I can install tw ROMs with no issues, install apps, restore apps. No issues.
If I install aosp or AOKP, 9 times out of 10 either I've no phone service, no data, or when it does work, I'm unable to restore my apps from tibu backup, or even install them from the play store. I get an error stating "unable to install to SD card or USB storage" I've never seen that before.
I even went as far as moving all data from my device and my SD card to my PC and wiping both. Then pushing it back, still with the same result. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks everyone!
Forgot to mention TWRP 2.8.0.1, boot loader is NE4 and so is the modem

Are you on a stable/release? Kernels with Linux 3.4.103 are known to be problematic. And there have been many cell radio issues lately due to CM commits.
Not sure about the storage problem. Have you tried task650's AOKP and found similar issues?

I have been through numerous ROMs, gummy, candykat, aokp, but not tasks aokp. I'm no stranger to device flashing and recovering from bad flashes etc.. But this is irritating
Update: flashed tasks aokp let it sit while rebooting, it sat at that boot ani for 15 minutes. Reboot again, same thing. No go.

Try factory resetting. Usually solves boot hangs.

I'm going to run my phone through the ringer today. Backup, full on wipes internal storage etc... Then go from there and reflash.

[Q] GAAPs seem to break WiFi in CM 10.1 RC2

[EDIT] I meant GAPPs. Damnit.
Hello,
I'm at a loss for what's happening and how to fix it. My GoogleFU is failing and nothing I try seems to work.
Basically, WiFi does not work for me in CM 10.1 RC2 and it's something to do with the GAAPs. Everything is initially fine on a fresh install [edit: I don't know if it matters, but when I flash the latest milestone of AOKP WiFi never works. At the initial set up it connects but fails to authenticate over and over] and it's all going swimmingly at first. When I open the Playstore in these first few moments, it's the last version. Eventually the Playstore updates itself and that's when WiFi stops working. Nothing can connect to anything. In the Playstore I just get a 'failed to connect' message and a 'retry' button that doesn't work. The browser doesn't pull anything up and I can't get any sort of connection until I turn WiFi off and go to data.
I'm really at a loss. If it helps, I'm on the Sasktel version, but it's still the I747 [i747m in the stock ROM] which is the same as Bell/AT&T, right? So that shouldn't matter. I'm flashing the 20130301 GAAPs and even tried the 4.1.2 ones (they didn't work at all). I'm using CWMR 6.0.1.2. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with ROMs on my S3 when it was so much easier to root than my old One V (which is still running CM 10 like a champ with 0 errors - I gave that phone to my sister).
Sorry for the long post, but this has been melting my brain.
so what all are you wiping before these flashes? i would recommend data, cache, dalvik, format /system, format /data when changing ROMs and especially when changing android versions (4.1 to 4.2, etc). If you have a micro sd card, place your ROM, gapps and a backup on there and go through the above wipe procedures.
you should also consider updating your recovery. 6.0.3.1 is the latest. you can flash this in recovery, go to Advanced and reboot recovery for this to take effect.

Random freezes and cannot add google account

Hi, I'm using Galaxy Note N7100. I have been experiencing random freezes on my phone lately. I have tried switching from ProBam to various other AOSP roms and nothing much changed. I have cleared Cache+Dalvik every time along with Factory reset. Also, I cannot add my Google account to the newly installed rom sometimes. It shows a message that says that "Connection could not be established." Presently I am on RootBox ROM. Please help, this is really frustrating. Also, would cleaning Internal storage help in any way?
Also, I haven't flashed any kernels. Just the stock ones, that come with the respective Roms.

What I would do is to install a original rom from sammy and if you still have this problem with that rom get sammy to fix it.
Just tell them what you have problems with and they will probably take it in for a fix.
And it sounds like you might have a emmc problem, have a look here as alot of users have had the same problem.

im using twrp first i tried to factory reset, caches that didnt work i formated internal storage same problem everything works great untill i restart the phone then wont go past boot screen. like its not reading the internal drive even did fix permisions and wiped caches after install. Also i used the updated su to flash after still problems, beyond me no problems with older ones or tw just the 4.3 roms
I, also, am having this very same issue. I'm honestly surprised that noone else seems to have run across this issue.
Installing is never an issue, running is never a problem, but if I ever reboot, if a ROM reboots itself, I'm left stuck at the GalaxyS4 splash screen, and the only way out it to Wipe everything and reinstall.
I see youre posting from an S3, I am using an AT&T S4.
Clearly, the issue is related to 4.3...
I had that problem with an unofficial build. But that was a bad download. Do you have new phones? The mount points are different on the newer sg3's. There's a thread with a fix for that
i had that problem. for some reason it locks your recovery and internal storage. you have to wipe it and install a rom via odin to work again. thats why im staying away from 4.3
i got my phone last december so its not real new, guess Ill just stay away from 4.3 roms. my recovery never got locked it just wont boot back up after restart. thanks for all the ideas

[Q] Have CM 10.2 - Phone Randomly Reboots

I did some searching, and found other people having issues with their Galaxy S3 rebooting randomly, but they were having that issue with CM 11. Since I'm still on 10.2, though, the methods that they suggest (mainly installing the updated gapps for CM 11) won't work.
Heres's the background info:
I'm on Sprint, and have been having issues with LTE reception ever since I switched from Touch Wiz to CM back in October. The issue started a couple weeks ago when I found out that the MK3 modem was available. I was still on MD4, and having issues with LTE reception, I thought this new modem would help. I downloaded an install zip file I found on this site and used CWM to install it. That same day I also found out about an updated apns-config.xml file that had helped out other people that used Sprint/Ting with LTE reception. I found that file here (I'm still considerd a new user, so replace _ with a period):
help_ting_com/entries/23423026
The install zip that I downloaded from that site didn't work, so I backed up the original apns-config.xml, and manually replaced it with the new one. I had to change permissions on a couple folders in order to replace it, too.
That day is when the random reboots started happening. I've since reverted back to the MD4 modem, and have also reverted to a backup of the old apns-conf.xml. I've also changed the permissions to the system and system/etc folders to what they were before, as well. The random reboots keep happening, though.
Any help would be amazing.

When I 1st flashed a cm11 based rom, I had random reboots. I solved the problem by changing kernel governor from interactive to on demand. I have not had a single reboot in months. All phones are built differently though. I've had mine since they 1st came out.

Thanks. I tried this, and it didn't seem to work. Phone's still randomly rebooting. I'm on 10.2, btw. Haven't moved to 11 yet.

The best way to truly fix your issue is to start back over at square 1... Odin it back to stock with the tar or MD5 file. The last thing you want to do is make things worse trying too many things.
If you can get back into recovery wipe everything, (but not your Sd card ) as long as you've got a Rom on your Sd card to flash. Don't flash the same rom again, your issue could be a number of things.
- If you made a backup before flashing then revert back to it. Then try to download the rom again, or if you can download the latest slimkat on another pc and copy it to your sd card it's small a quick download and it will get you back up and running.
That is, if you don't feel like using Odin.

So I wiped, and started over, and then restored data, but the random reboots are still happening. Should I not have restored data? I'd like to avoid losing everything if I could.

Data restore could very well be the culprit.

So I'd have to start from scratch? Is there any way I could keep my data?

[Q] Cyanogenmod Glitches

I am currently running Cyanogenmod 10.2.1 on my Sprint GS3. I am running into a few issues, of which I have had over many builds. For one, my phone will random reboot when using it, while it happens rarely, it seems to do it at the most inconvenient times and I am left waiting for it to reboot for no reason. The next, and definitely most annoying glitch, is the "disconnect reconnect" issue with PCs. When connected to a PC, it repeatedly disconnects and reconnects and never stops this loop. I hear the disconnect/connect sound over and over until I actually disconnect the phone. Because of this, I am unable to add new music, photos, etc. At first I thought it was just the current build, but after updating to 10.2.1 from 10.2.0, and so on, nothing has really changed. I'm not sure what to do at this point other than just go back to the factory ROM. If any of you have any idea why this may be happening, let me know. Thanks in advanced.

That's an interesting experience, which I haven't had so far.
Did you dirty flash the rom or completely wiped your phone before installing?
Which modem version are you on?

I don't format the phone between cyanogenmod updates, but I do when installing a completely different ROM (factory -> Cyanogenmod). As far as the modem version goes, as of now, I am running LJ7. I believe that was on there by default, although I may be wrong. I did try others before (If I remember right) installing the original. I tend to have horrible reception in KC (everywhere actually), so I was hoping to fix it that way.

You're right, there's no need for completely formatting the phone between nightlies. However, your modem seems to be an older version. I believe the CM 10 based on MD4 and the CM 11 is based on MK3. You can verify this in their respective forums though.
My suggestion would be to download the latest modem and the CM 11 onto an external card. Format your phone completely. Install the modem then install the CM 11 + KK Gapps.
Let us know how it went if you go through it.
