I have read that Kitkat disables write access to the SD card. I have also heard that Samsung has -- in at least some of it's kitkat releases -- specifically enabled the SD card writes.
As it is now, though, the Galaxy Tab 7 7.0 and the Galaxy Tab 3 10.0 with their original OS still differ in a couple of features:
Move apps to SD: 7:no 10:yes
(There was another, but I forgot it temporarily)
So ... given that they crippled the 7.0 as compared to the 10.0 in the first go-round, I am asking: did they remove all write access to the SD the way standard kitkat is, or did they patch write access back in? (I need at least minimal write access so my Kindle books can be stored on the SD).
Second: If the answer to the first question was "yes" ... did they by any chance enable the ability to move apps to the SD?
Didn't know there was a galaxy tab 7 O.O. I'll just say the kitkat update enables apps2sd for the tab 3 7.0.
This is my problem too except my system keeps unmounting SD card then when its remounted, a toast saying trhenfile system is unsupported pops up immediately followed by the reformat SD card dialog.......my 64gb SD card is useless after updating to KitKat.

Tried this app on the play store and it worked fine but the changes don't stick after reboot which lands me in the same position, a reformat after mounting my fully functioning 64gb memory card.

I'm currently on the older AOKP Milestone 6 ICS rom and I'm having trouble installing APK's all of the sudden. Downloading straight from the market works fine, however if I try to install and older version of Google+ on APK it just keeps telling me I am out of space.
I have 9GB free on my internal storage and ~300MB free on my SD Card. However, if I look at storages in android settings I have 2 internal storages. The one that contains apps apparently only has 2GB total space and 676MB available. My SD card is there and then my actual internal storage is under it as well reporting an accurate 8GB free however it doesn't specify usage by apps, media, or etc. I don't know how to get the phone to use my REAL internal storage to install apps and media.
I tried following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846115 but it seems to only switch this imaginary 2GB internal storage and my SD card. And switching the "use internal storage for apps and media" option under storage management doesn't help either.

Nobody has any ideas?
Fresh rom install? I don't see why you can't install apps. You have space available. As for your internal sd storage not reading out like SD card and internal apps storage, that happens to me as well, on cm9 beta 1. Haven't figured out why, but haven't looked either.

I guess you've read this a million times here: "Apple User switched to Android = completely lost"
This forum is fantastic, but I gotta say its SO big with so much information, I find I've spent an hour or more just trying to find the right information, and even then I feel lost.
I recently tried Slim-t0lte, but I used the wrong ROM which was the N7100 when I have a GT- N7105 device. Lost all ability to make and receive calls and worst of all I lost my 64GB MicroSD card. Photo's, music, files the lot - gone!
That was a couple of days ago and since then I've done a lot of reading and have somewhat rectified the situation.
I am now using Slim-t0lte-4.2.2.build.7.2-WEEKLY and its working great, ie. I can make and receive calls at least, and I had to go and buy a new 64GB MicroSD which set me back $70 dollars. Formatted the new SD card to Fat32 using GuiFormat and the device now see's my new 64GB drive which is great.
But here I am now with everything done and I am completely lost as to how to use this ROM. In the image below is the phone set up how I thought it would look when I loaded the ROM. But it doesn't look anything like that, so I had a play around in settings and I've got the Time, Weather up on the lock screen, but nothing else.

Also I downloaded Universal_SlimBean_theme_lockscreen_blue_bubble, Universal_SlimBean_theme_power_widgets_ics_blue, Universal_SlimBean_theme_powermenu_ics_blue and Universal_SlimBean_theme_settings_ics_blue. I installed them all through CWM but I can't find a way to load them so I can see how how they look.
My question (after all the background info above) is there a how to, a video or something which shows the features of SlimBean that a novice user like me can watch so I can begin to navigate this great looking ROM and access its features?
Thx
Hello everybody,
I just bought this tablet and I was looking for a way to root it.
Anybody knows if there's a known way? Would the root method for Xiron 7 work?
Antutu says "Have root access = yes" so I've tried to simply install super su but it won't work and Root cheker says that the device isn't rooted :/

ok, I did it
I used Uberizer with the choice c - 16/17/18 (in that order, I was just shooting blanks and I succeed XD)
Now I have an another big problem...
This tablet have a really good 12gb of internal storage but it is definitely useless...
I can't use it to install apps and nor I can't use SD to install app! No way to move apps into one of the two mount point.
The problem is that internal is "emulated"
I've already tried app as Folder Mount, Mount2SD and Root External 2 Internal but with no success.
Someone know a way to enable my tablet to install apps to NAND Flash (preferred) or at least onto SD Card?
or even how to redistribute the NAND to the Internal Storage (all of it)? Like I did with my Cubot One.
Thanks!!
Same problem here. impossible to install any app on sd card using this tablet. Please help.
Nevermind didnt see 2# post. sorry
Hi, I'm hearkenoath and I have to bear with a Galaxy Fame GT-6810L ;P Not complaining so much recently though.
I partitioned mi 32 GB SD class 4 Card Adata (if the brand helps) using Mini Tool Partition Wizard Home Edition like sayhellotwoheaven posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126363 I followed his steps and numbers. Even though I knoe that partitions should be only 20% of the total space.
And I know, I know: maybe our kernel doesn't support EXT4. I'm using Corsifame ROM from this forum but the perfomance was pushing me to smash my device against the wall. So I was interested in swapping virtual memory AND I KNOW, VM has a reduced number of R/W cycles and potentially can fry my SD/internal storage.
I used this helpful thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50143050&postcount=101&nocache=1&z=8882311745546758 and set it up to full ZRAM usage and Swap partition (since the other options don't worked for me)
The result was superb, so much better that before or with the 32 GB card not partitioned but the space ended in 9.99 GB only readable trough the phone and with the Kies installed.
My problem is this: the SD card cant mount, obviuosly I can't flash zips from CWM (only using /sdcard0) or backup and that stuff. I tried umount /storage/extSdCard/ and mount/ from CWM. Also can't cd to that directory (but I feel like never can't)
What can I do?
My root was with VRoot if helps. I appreciate all input.
P.S. I followed this tutorial and got Backtrack 5 running in our humble device. I always thought that my device would freeze

Nice bro
BAD ASS NOTE 4
So, I'm confused. Is it safe to use your rooting method now for the COD6? If I get the security warning after flashing, just reboot the phone and it will work?
This didn't work for me. And did an ODIN stock twice.... anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Working perfectly... using root explorer, test by copying a file from internal storage to external sd card... it will copy without errors/asking anything...
Strange... I even checked the permissions.xml for the mod and its there. I can't write/copy/paste any files from and to the external sd card. It said operation failed.

Is there something wrong with this? I can't write to my SD card. It says operation failed.
I just confirm this worked for me. I just added the line manually to the platform.xml file and rebooted. I use Solid Explorer and transferring files to the SD card now works.
Did you reboot after making the change? Also make sure the program you are using such as Root Explorer or whatever has SU permissions granted.
Found out that is my SD card turned into a read only card. I'm getting a warranty replacement on it
Worked for me
