You need to have the sim unlocked for different carriers. Either call your service provider and request the unlock code or you will have to pay to have someone do it. But if you root your i727 and try and put ROM's made for the T989 you will have lots of problems. You NEED to have the SIM UNLOCKED to use on different service providers.
No matter of rooting and flashing roms will help.
yes i understand having it sim unlocked. Im asking if because i read that you need to flash a T989 Modem and Rom (of t989) and kernel of i727 for it to work on T-Mobile.

If your sim is unlocked already you just need to flash roms and radios that are for the i727 and you would need to change your apn settings to which every ccarriers setting you plan on using.
If you flash a kernel made for the t989 to your i727 then you better be prepared to have a brick

i've installd the newest cyanogenmod rom on my skyrocket along with just about every radio that claims to work with AWS/T-Mobile. For whatever reason I cannot get Wind Mobile to work properly. SMS and reception are just fine, but when I made voice calls the outgoing audio gets all garballed up while incoming is perfectly clear. Any idea what is causing this?

If you read the ROM thread, it shows you how to make sure it works on Sprint. the biggest thing was not being able to send/receive MMS. and that was changed using ##DATA# and changing the settings. its located on the thread. But its a new build and mostlikely has patches for what was wrong in FF18. But I haven't tried it.
This guide has already been used twice (and possibly four times) to break xda rules. I will not enable that.
Sorry everyone. Thread closed.
I have flashed ATT TW AND AOSP roms for my Tmobile out of the box and it works. I then change the build.prop with root explorer.
Going to give this a try this weekend. It's a dumb question but could I use this to say port a Sprint ROM to my AT&T phone ? Just a straight port over but just changing the things you list here ?

I can't say for sure, but it should work just fine.
Though I must admit, Sprint is the worst choice you could make for your first port attempt. You could have problems with both libs and kernels.
And I still haven't figured out how to get MMS working on my Sprint port.

I think Verizon would be a good choice.
Is there any way of porting anything from the international i9300 to the AT&T i747 using a similar method as found in the original post?
I understand the processor and radio differences.

There is going to be a lot more than is listed here for that... I doubt its really possible. Kind like you can't easily port a i777 ROM to a skyrocket

It will take much more than what is listed in the OP. I am not sure I have ever seen a ROM ported from Europe to the US (or the other way around).
As you mentioned, the processor and radios are different, but so are the system partitions. Anything is possible, but I think that would be a huge amount of work.
If you try this please be very careful. Many, many users have bricked their devices flashing a ROM from across the pond.

I wasn't going to try it. I had just wanted to get 4.1.2 without the AT&T bloatware and someone else's build that has additional features that I don't need.
Hey all, I was hoping to get some assistance on an issue that myself and stratatak7 have been having. We're trying to port the Intergalactic ROM over to VZW. Following this guide, I was able to get it to boot and everything is functional including calling and texts, but we cannot get any mobile data. We've gone as far as replacing the kernel with a vzw kernel and replacing the modules in Intergalactic with modules from a vzw rom but mobile data refuses to work. I would be grateful for any suggestions because it seems that we are at a loss. Thanks

OK, I apologize for having to ask this, but are you sure you followed all the steps correctly? I have to ask because my ROMs are the same version Intergalactic. Also, are you sure you grabbed the files from a VZW BLK3 ROM? Libs are the most important for data.
I have attached the files I use for my VZW port. I would change nothing except the ROM name in the build.prop for now and see how that goes. The eri.xml is compiled, so you can just add the file to framework-res with 7Zip. I started adding the csc files recently, but I don't think they really make a difference.

For your own personal use you should be able to get by with just changing your build.prop. Maybe the apn if you run in to any data problems. You should not need to flash a kernel or radio.

SGH-M919 is the T-Mobile variant, so it should be no problem.
The easiest way to go back to stock is to use KIES, but that will revert you back to V.
You can download stock and flash with ODIN. As long as it is stock T-Mobile and you have a T-Mobile account, WiFi calling will work fine.

Is there anything I need to do specifically since I have Nextel firmware in the phone.

No, the modem wouldn't be your problem. Since you are already updated to the official 4.4.2, you now have KNOX to worry about. If you don't care about setting the 0x1 flag, your best bet would more than likely be to flash a custom recovery and a modded/stock ROM specifically for the M919 from the Android Development section. You keep mentioning that you have a Nextel device... just to confirm, you have a T-Mobile SIM, correct? Because if not, WiFi calling won't work for you anyway.
Yup, I have a T-mobile account and the phone has a T-mobile SIM in it
I don't think that KNOX flag is an issue as it is an unlocked Non T-mobile phone.
If I have an issue with the phone at all T-mobile is not going to support it.
The model phone I have apparently is exactly the same as the T-mobile branded phone, when I registered it with Samsung they identify it as a T-mobile phone.
I guess I could just get a 1900MHZ repeater and call it a day as well.

You could, I guess... but I would be willing to bet that it would be a lot cheaper to just get WiFi calling working
Like I said, you'll probably have to forget going the Odin route and use a custom recovery and modded/stock T-Mobile TouchWiz ROM.

I'm not interested in constantly flashing the phone to get the bug fixes ...
I'd give a stable ROM a try so is that the one to go with?

Yeah, most every ROM posted in the development section is stable, TouchWiz or AOSP. Just make sure you read the OP to confirm that whichever ROM has WiFi calling included as there are TW ROMs which have been ported to our device from other carrier's S4s.... Only those specifically for the M919 will have WiFi calling and it will be specified in the OP. I'm not going to recommend which ROM to flash, but from someone who's tried them all... you can't make a bad decision whatever you choose.

Yes, you can. The only S4 ROMs you should stay away from are those made for the i9500 and non-standard S4's (i.e. S4 mini, S4 Active, etc). Any other variant of the standard S4 (including the i9505G) is good to go; just use a kernel for your specific device. On that note though, the i9505 and M919 kernels are interchangeable, so there's no need to follow that protocol when using our ROMs for your device and vice versa.

Thanks bro for your reply, that's great to know and gained extra 150+ ROMs thread as well really good to use great ROMS in this section
After doing some research my question:
The reason I can't use this firmware is due to the fact that my current baseband is higher than the one I was attempting to flash.
I have FNE2 and was trying to flash FNB4?
Thoughts?
Still looking to do this did anything change here? Has anyone successfully with flashing this with the stock ROM?
I'm a T- Mobile customer
Thanks

Yes. Absolutely. everything matters. You can't simply flash a T-mobile or Verizon Note 4 rom on our sprint note 4 and it work. not gonna happen. Especially roms built specifically for GSM networks and different hardware/chipsets. These things are critical and there's no exceptions. If you want to flash a Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or other international rom on the sprint Note 4 SM-N910P then you're gonna have to do more than swap out the framework.jar and framework-res. I guarantee it. Don't fall for the okey doke stuff! :silly:
