So I am aware that the touchwiz framework is propriatary and legally cannot be added to CM11 and then distributed.
However I had a thought but no idea how to go about it, would it be possible for the user of the device himself to decompile touchwiz or somehow inject it into a CM11 image and as a result Samsungs apps theoretically would work. If this is possible, does anyone have any insight onto how it would be done?
Edit:
Also come to think of it, if this is possible it would apply to all AOSP based roms too.
If this is in the wrong forum please forgive me

Hello everyone, I was wondering if it was possible to take the Dialer apk out of the 4.4 kitkat release and make it useable in the S3. Yes, I have tried exdialer, but it doesn't do the exact same thing as the actual dialer would do.
If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Try it out and let us know. Worste case you restore to a backup you make before hand right?
I'd imagine it might work, if not the source of the dialer may need tweeking, changing the rom to work with the dialer might break other things (just a guess).
Still, try it out, it may not have been targeted to older versions of Android so maybe rebuilding it from source in eclipse to target older version like 4.1.2 and see if it compiles without error, error would just point you to what needs to be fixed on the surface, then try to compile it for 4.1.2 again and keep testing, that would be what I would do if I was interested in it. If the source isn't available for that app, maybe try decompiling it, but I have only read a little about that so I am not able to give any advice as to what decompiled code might look like.
Good luck.

Did you ever figure this out? Apparently the dialer with business search is in the Nexus 4 OTA.
The ROM I use has some kitkat apps running see this post:

So they may work.
Always backup first though!
I've almost got everything perfect on my new Note 10.1 but I wanted to use the AOSP lockscreen instead of the stock one. Mainly because Xposed modules modify AOSP instead of Sammy's lockscreen. Anyone know how to do that on this device. I'm using clean ROM and I'm not exactly expecting a lot of development for this device so waiting for a ROM that does this out of the box just wasn't something I'd want to do. I'm OK with modifying files myself since that's probably what I'd have to do. I'm just not sure where to start.

Have you tried this xposed module? It's for the note but you can test if you want:

Or the app Holo Locker:

Is there a particular technical reason why no stock based ROM has touched this? It is a very useful feature that was on many ROMs I used. I believe it can also be added with Xposed. Is something in the LG Base preventing messing with that particular menu?

CloudyG3 1.2 has the reboot menu.
Those menus are added by decompiling the apk. manually editing the smali code, recompiling the apk, pushing them, and hoping for the best.
While there are lots of guides on how to do this, it's slightly different for every phone and it can be a real daunting task if a person doesn't have much experience actually doing mods like that.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I hope the lollipop based cloudy has it in the future too.
Hey Guys,
Thank you for any help you may provide in advance, and please know I did a proper search before posting this.
I am currently using Malaysk firmware (April release) and have I am very happy with such a dev.
However there is one thing I would like to do; I would like to completely remove the Xposed framework and any trace remaining of it. (I already uninstalled the framework using the app)
This is due to the fact that the current app of my tv provider gets blocked when it discovers this and I would love to have this functionality back.
Could someone point me in the right direction on this topic?
Thx Again,
Gtrz Ecniv
Did it work before on an older version of Malaysk ROM? There are xposed apps that can prevent apps from seeing a modified system like Root Cloak there was one that you could type in specific modifications not sure the name though. Does a rooted device have a conflict with your app? there are apps that disable certain features or all if root is detected. I'm not sure where Xposed is located on the storage but a simple search in ES File Explorer might find it for you.
Hey bsavoir22,
Thx for the input, to be honest I can`t remember if I ever had it working on a Malaysk ROM however I do know what you are talking about; The Irdetto fix. Unfortunately I have tried and tested that and it won`t work I did have it running on a rooted previous firmware though (Non-Malaysk, rooted Stock GS firmware) in combination with root cloak that`s why I`m suspecting the Xposed framework.
That`s why I am interested in trying to remove the framework entirely as I love the ROMs made by Malaysk really would like all functionality back that I had on my old firmware.:good:

Would the oxygenOS launcher be able to be installed on custom roms because it is so far my favoourite thing about the phone, if so could someone post the APK please
Thanks
James
No, it's not possible as far as I know.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9ufl4TwjDDqdXhZZDNEUWJtZ1E/view?usp=drivesdk
But i'm not sure if it works on custom rom
It is possible if someone puts in time and effort to see what additional libs it needs and I suspect the framework will also need editing as well.
