Edit: Well nevermind I seem to have fixed it. I thought it was the gain, but as it turns out I had the Noise Filtering option checked. The audio quality in calls is clear as mud now.

Has anyone noticed that the volume is lower in Froyo than it was in Eclair?
I've tried a number of different apps (built in player, tunewiki etc.) and there seems to be a definite reduction in the volume since upgrading. Any ideas?
i was going to post a thread saying volume is much better!
earlier on 2.1 it was crap for me. now both in call volume and media volume are much better and in call volume is clearer. the rear speaker sounds less tinny and is passable now. the shrill hiss / tinny sound at max volume is gone now totally since froyo update i think atleast on the tracks i listed to (preinstalled music and soem youtube videos). i was infact thinking i might reduce the volume a bit which seems a bit of a shock to me knowing the crap rear speaker dished out with the desire. earlier i had said elsewhere that this was the worst speaker i had seen on a phone compared to any of my phones in the last decade, but now i retract that statement. looks like it was a software issue.
i had before the froyo update installed the free 'car mode' app that uses the rear speaker, i would use that mode when ever i put the phone in my trouser pocket as otherwise i would never hear the notifications and often the ring if i was out and about. then after fiddling around i found some sound settings which wasnt obvious at first and disabled the default tick box that made the ring volume and notification volume the same. after disabling that tick box then i could independently adjust the notification volume.
also before the froyo update i installed the free 'quick settings' app which under its settings has a setting for sound, under that apart from the usual volume controls, it has a separate control for system volume which i couldnt find elsewhere on the phone and after increasing that system volume to max, the volume output improved from the rear speakers.
but after froyo it is even better now, both for call volume from earpiece and rear speaker. i cant comment about the earphones as have never used them yet and still in its packet somewhere. wish there was a way to use the fm radio without needing the earphones.
Interesting..I'm specifically speaking of the headphone volume and the ringer volume. It's certainly lower (around 30% lower than 2.1).
I do agree the output from the inbuilt speaker is improved.
Upon further research, I have seen others mention similar issues and also relating to the quality of the sound. I've also seen custom roms using pershoot's audio mod which is supposed to increase loudness. Can this be applied to a stock 2.2 rom (rooted of course)?
I've tried both GrooveIP and Talkatone, and both apps result in very quiet incoming audio. I have no complaints from the person on the other end hearing me, but I can barely hear them. Going into the settings of each program and boosting the speaker gain helps a little, but hinders audio quality. Even using the gain boost in each program has little effect on the earpiece volume (using the earpiece on the phone).
Is there another setting in either app or on the phone itself I might be missing? I am on an Epic 4G Touch running PhantomPhreak's CM10 ROM.

I found a solution. It seems odd, but I'm not complaining. It works. Using Talkatone, I went into the call settings and changed the "audio playback stream" from voice call to music. I noticed by changing this, it also deselected the hardware echo cancellation. It's odd changing this setting makes callers go from nearly inaudible because the sound is so quiet to being nearly like a normal non-wifi call. If I had to guess, the Epic 4g touch has no hardware echo cancellation or it isn't compatible with Talkatone if it does. In any case, I'm happy I can use wifi calling and finally hear the other person.
Hello,
I do not use the phone feature very often, but recently I had to take some calls while driving and could hardly understand what the other person is saying, because the speaker phone volume is really low.
Now, of course I set the volume to max and checked every setting I could find related to phone calls. I even went into the service menu and did the speaker tests. There I realized that the speaker phone is using a different speaker as the one that is used to play back music or other sounds. The same sound sample is used in the tests and it is much softer in the speaker phone test compared to the mono or stereo speaker tests.
Is there any hack, setting or configuration file change I can do to use the mono or stereo speaker for the speaker phone feature?
Please help, this is the only gripe with this fine phone I have.
Same problem here.
Solutions, anyone?

Low Sound. Playing Music on Yureka loudspeaker will not appeal to many as the sound output is low. Sometimes sound plays muffled as well, depending upon the type of track you’re playing. If the sound output is distorting kinda, Go to audiofx app and disable it on speaker mode.
In-call sound is great but if you get low sound in earpiece, make sure in-call volume is at its peak. There is volume controls bug as well for in-call sound. During call, if the user tries to lower the volume, the volume slider moves but the volume level in reality is not lowered. I have also faced this bug. So, wait for software update, hopefully, these issues will be fixed.
Thank you. Unable to hear/attend callls without putting into speaker mode. After disabling audiofix option it solved the problem.

Glad I was helpful!
no problem like this has happened, but if its there it will be fixed soon.
Is anyone else upset about the low volume while on a call. Is there anyway to change it? Or modify etc/path.XML. just need a little boost not much. Already using viper and dual audio speaker mod so those don't seem to help at all as they don't control the ear piece. I'm rooted on latest pure nexus.
I actually sometimes put in-call volume too high and it hurts my ear unless I hold the phone away an inch or two because it's too loud.
I have WiFi calling turned on, and voice privacy off.
NO issue at all! It's call quality is great! Crystal clear and loud sound!
Perhaps the dual speaker mod affected call volume in some way? I don't have that mod but do have V4A. No issues with call volume.
Hmm, probably the ROM. Cause this phone has the best call quality I have ever experienced, and too loud, and look where I live! Including them old Nokias and Motorolas and BlackBerries.
