[Q] Tape sticking out from 8.4's frame, advice? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just got the 8.4 LTE model, and after some initial excitement I noticed that there's some kind of blue/grayish tape coming out from between the frame and the front panel:
(Can't link image as a new user, sorry)

Anyone else encountered this? There seem to be no teardowns as of yet, so I have no idea if it's something extra that's safe to pull off with extreme force (which it seems to require), or if it's a part of some actual component...
Alternatively, has anyone been able to remove the back panel and/or frame and look inside?

I have never seen this on my tab s (10.5 WiFi). I think someone put some tape there when packaging it or it come from the package. I would suggest taking it back and ask them why its there because there shouldn't be one on the tab s. Pulling it off may break something with the screen. I can't tell if the the tape is inside or just on the outside part. Hope this helps!

Back Cover Flexing?

I was wondering if anyone else had some backcover flexing. Specifically, right between the camera and the google logo. This is with the standard cover with 1750mhA battery.
It just bothers me a bit because its not perfect. :S
I definitely have some flexing there and for me, if I press my finger to the right of the camera (looking at the back) it flexes and makes a slight clicking noise. Bothers me too and I end up doing it on purpose way too much >< My friend works at the place I bought it and she let me try another back to see if it made a difference but it did the same thing so I think it's normal!
It's good to know that it's not just my phone experiencing this. Thanks of the reply.
Mine doesn't flex at all!
mine does, and the one i replaced did as well, i expect the 3rd one does the same so i didnt go back to exchange it
same to 3 of my frd's
so, if u dont like it, put 2 layers of scrotch tape on the inside of the battery cover around the camera area

[Q] loose spring

The spring has come loose from one of the portions of the slider mechanism. I can't really tell but it looks like it's still attached to the screen. It doesn't look broken, at the loose end it looks like a screw should go there. How hard would it be to put back into place? I've been looking for a good teardown video of this model but I can't find it. Samsung wants to charge me $70 for what seems like a fairly simple repair since the pieces aren't even broken. Any help?
the good news is I was right, the unit is easy to disassemble, and the spring is easy to put back on the slide plate. Unfortunately I managed to rip out the video cable in the process ;p I'm hoping it's easy to replace and I won't need a whole new screen
$36.95 for a new cable http://cellphone-repair-shop.com/att-captivate-glide-main-flex-cable/
Well this could be helpful, for my slide up has some problems and this is probably what's about to come out on mine.
sent from my captivate glide
I didn't take any pictures but it's pretty easy to put the spring back on the slide mechanism. There are two little silver posts and all you have to do is compress the spring and pop it back into place. However, you can't get to the slider mechanism that easily. Once you get the phone apart, the screen will be tied to the back by a video cable. To avoid ripping it out like I did, I recommend taking the screen apart and unplugging it, since you need to take the slider off the screen anyway to fix it.
You can also try feeding the cable back from the motherboard. If you look at the picture I linked to you can see at the very top a gold square and a little cable off to the side of that. The little flex cable attaches to the motherboard, and the gold square is glued to a plastic spacer in the housing. You can peel it off the spacer. When you replace it there's no need to glue it back on. It's held on by tiny notches and pressure from the assembled phone keeps it on.

[Q] Back cover creak.

Hello there!
I bought my xperia m 10 days ago, and i am pleased so far, except for one thing..
I noticed yesterday that the removable cover has started creaking, especially on the side with no buttons where the usb port is.
Has anyone else noticed that with their device? Is this something that inevitably happens after a while, or should i try to get it replaced because of a defect?
Yes, it started happening a few days after I bought or... If it happens to others too, I'll assume it's inevitable
This message was brought to you from my Sony Xperia M C1905 using Tapatalk.
Hmm I see..
Well I thought I'd ask because if it is something that is going to happen anyway, i will not bother taking it to the store.
They will have to send the phone to the service center and all that fuss just to replace the back cover, so it is not worth it.
If someone else can also confirm that this is the case with their phone I will be assured.
My phone also makes noises when pushed, most at top right and bottom left corners.
Well I take it there is nothing I can do about it then, so no point in returning it, I will have to live with it...
It is a shame though, because other than that the phone is outstanding in terms of value, I see no reason to spend any more that what I spent on this. It hits the sweet spot for me in the price/performance scale.
Has anyone found any solution to this problem?
I have tried putting little pieces of paper at the hotspots (bottom left and below the usb port in my case) but I had little success...
I am also curious to hear reports from others, maybe a silicon case can lessen the issue...

I have silicone case, it is the same. I am thinking about using thin layer of hotglue. It can be peeled of easily.
After some experimenting I found that putting a small piece of paper (3mm tall and about 3cm long) between the phone and the cover eliminated the major creaks that where in the lower-middle left side of my phone. I just folded a piece of printer paper in two and cut it to the above dimensions. If you try it make sure to put it in a way that does not block the small plastic clips that clip on the phone.

[Q] Replacement parts

Hello all I was wondering if anyone could help me in finding some replacement parts for my oppo find 7a. So what happened was the very tip of the 3.5mm audio jack on my POS headphones stuck in my phone while the rest of it came out. No matter what I did I couldn't get it out. It prevented me from making calls or obviously using the jack for headphones.
So I took it apart. I successfully removed it but in putting it back together the little button that actuates the power switch was not in place so I couldn't control the power button. I went back in and managed to break it off. One tiny little piece of plastic and the entire phone is now useless. So I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of ordering a replacement part. I think I will have to order an entirely new little circuit board. I haven't found anything on Oppo's site, could anyone help me out?

I'd like to know this same information.
I have a bad usb/supply circuit board and i can't find any place to buy it.
Anyone who has got news on this? Myself, I am looking for a new cover for the camera (as in, the glass that is right above the lense sitting inside the back cover).
I found some parts on Ali Express (look for Original LCD Display +Digitizer touch Screen+frame by GD Technology Co., Ltd; the board's software unfortunately does not allow me to post full URLs yet).
In my case, I am not sure if the “frame” advertised above actually includes that little glass cover, or if there is an additional part I am looking for.

Query: Replacement Front Frame

Hi
Accidently damaged my front frame when removing the display assembly.
Wherever I look, I'm unable to find anyone selling the front frame. Anybody here have a clue where I can get hold of one?
bump, I need one too.
Anyone know where to get one?
happened to me too and can't find the part anywhere. so instead I installed a screen protector and put my device in a bumper style case.
Do you mean the shiny black bezel surrounding the screen? I literally JUST dropped my tablet and the bezel cracked at the bottom left corner right after looking at this thread
Does anyone know where to get the part and how to replace it? It doesn't seem too hard to replace, it looks like it might be held on with adhesive and wouldn't require disassembling the tablet.
