Bluetooth keyboard case - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Hello,
My gf bought sgt pro 8,4 with this case
img.tvc-mall.com/uploads/details/KEYB-618A-1.jpg
(need to put http in front of it)
As we found out, keyboards don't work that well with the 4.4.2 android version nor the 8.4 gtp for that matter.
Do you have any advise ?
She'd like a keyboard case for it. Or a way to get it to work anyway?
Rather not install a custom rom with getting it rooted and whatnot. Didn't have good experience with that in the past with phones. Would that even be an option? Is there a simple way?
Would be very thankful if you guys could help me. These problems always give me a ton of stress and annoyance

[Q]Gingerblur on the Atrix...and getting the most out of Atrix.

First off, I have been coming to XDA for a while now and love this site. Thanks everyone for all your posts. I'm new to posting and figured I'd give it a shot.:
I recently bought the Atrix from AT&T and I love it. I upgraded from the Captivate which I loved as well but it broke on me and I'm happy for the upgrade. I just have some questions about the atrix:
I've been looking into all the cool hacks that are possible..I recently hacked it so I can view webtop without a dock and yesterday I installed Gingerblur which I love so much more than stock. I used the superoneclick software to root my phone which was a breeze. I did it while I was at work..thats how easy it was.
I was wondering if I can detect which version of Gingerblur I am running and if I can upgrade to the latest version if I'm not running it. I was also wondering if there are any other hacks like Gingerblur that are worth looking into.
I was also wondering if there is a way to get the "end all" option in the task manager when you long press the home button. I really liked that feature on the captivate, being that you don't need to run a Task Killer on android with the latest firmware. Is there a way to get that back? I just like knowing I can close all applications.
Also is there a way to get wifi toggle buttons in the drop down notification bar that the captivate had.
Being that I just rooted my atrix, and am figuring out ways to utilize such a powerful device, what would you guys recommend that I do to the phone to get the best out of it. I'm not sure exactly what rooting the phone can do to make my android experience better.
I'm new to forums and android so please be kind..I'm sorry if this post seems kind of jumbled with various topics. I would appreciate any input. Thanks guys
-Mike
I'm also running Launcher Pro which I Bought. I also bought setPCU but I'm not sure if the atrix is compatible or how to use it properly...but would love to overclock the phone when i can.
anyone? please?
I'm about to get the Atrix too!! As far as I explore the android market, there's antutu benchmark and its master boost apps that can overclock and test your phone's performance. I tried it on my HTC Desire and got a pretty impressive result. Definitely give it a shot.

[Q] (Q) Flashable phone function?

Hi XDA,
is there a way to flash a phone function to the new nexus 7 (LTE)?
actually i have a samsung galaxy tab 7.7 p6800 and its good to have a phone function, cause i need it regularly.
i wonder why google dont implent this function cause an SMS function is always included in the N7 series, and a note 8.0 LTE is another alternative choice but a little to expensive i think.
is there anyone out there who knows an answer to my question.
Not yet. Search forum for more info if needed.

Cool I am also coming from a P6800
I definitely prefer my Nexus 7 (I never thought I'd ever say that !), but my P6800 is my phone + Tablet and I dont wnat to carry an extra phone...
Cross fingers and hopefully we'll get a CM10 ROM with phone functions

How to best optimise this tablet with ports and roms?

Hello! I was gifted the LTE version of this tab a couple of weeks ago and is pretty nice. But no one seems to have any faith that Samsung will continue support following Android 5.0.
So! Best of a bad situation, how do I/we go about key point this tablet relevant? What are the essential ported apps and how do I boot custom roms while keeping S Pen support?
Is this tablet worth keeping at this point - should I trade in for another? Sorry if I sound vague, I'm just trying to get the best out of it.
waiting for Android Lollipop

Might buy D851: Looking for opinions

Hi folks,
I just dropped my Samsung S4 and cracked the screen. :crying: It still works, but it's time to move on. I never buy new / latest devices; instead I wait and buy last year's model from Swappa or the like, selling my old phone to partially subsidize the purchase. Looks like my S4 is going to the Boneyard.
What I've been looking for is a 2014 model, 5.5" screen, rootable/unlocked bootloader (I like custom ROMs :good: ), phone with a multicolor notification light and good battery. Was thinking to go up to Nexus 6 but it's just too big for me.
The LG G3 looks just about perfect. I've spent the last hour reading up on it. The T-Mo version should work fine for my AT&T service, and it comes unlocked, both SIM and Bootloader. Can any ATT users attest to the phone working well on that network? (EDIT: I googled a bit and found it works fine)
There seems to be plenty of development, though surprisingly I don't see a plain vanilla GPE 5.1.1 ROM out there. Most of the development I see seems to be around AOSP (I'm a fan of SlimROMs and have had good experiences with Dirty Unicorns too, been considering Bliss on other devices). Have I missed a very plain GPE (at least 5.1) compiled for the G3? Doing my research it looks like the latest OTA is still 20G (5.0.1), and it sounds like Marshmallow will eventually come out (I'm not sure I want it...). Would love to hear what the most plain GPE like 5.1 ROM is.
I'd love to hear any experience or recommendations... anybody get a G3 recently and wish they got something else, instead? Or is this a device we can all love for another year or so?
Thanks. I'm itching to pull the trigger and just need some encouragement, or possibly a conk on the head to look into some other phone.
One last question: how intense is the vibrate function on the G3? My S4 isn't strong enough vibrating, and I often miss calls and stuff when I'm in silent/vibrate mode. Looking for something a bit more attention getting if possible!
Marc
I dropped my note 3 for thus phone. Although it's rootable the g3 seems to be fragile when it comes to flashing roms if you don't know what you are doing. Not worse than the note 3 though ( ATT murdered that phone).
Thanks for the reply!
I've gone ahead and purchased the D851. It should arrive today, and I should have it set up later this week. Looking forward to it. I've bought an iCarez 0.2mm screen protector for it and am looking into bumpers/wraps to keep it minty.
I'm a bit concerned since there's no 5.1(.1) GPE ROM available, but many of the Dev'ed ROM options look attractive. I'm going to start by rooting the thing and subtracting bloatware. After that, we'll see... On the S4, the T-Mo boot animation was reason enough to flash a ROM. Loud and annoying.
I'm curious, are you stock, or have you flashed something (if so, which ROM)?
Again, thank you. I appreciate your reply.
I was practically in the same boat. I had a GS4 , but cracked the display, the actual display not the glass, and bought a G3. I replaced the front glass twice before that, its a very fragile phone. But otherwise I loved the S4 for the screen, the plain design, ROMs, expandable storage, and removable battery.
The G3 is very comparable to the S4, the screen I'd say is slight upgrade. You can barely notice 1440p vs 1080p, and I'd say its viewing angles aren't as good, but I still like it over my S4. I'm running paranoid android 5.1.1 on it now. Its similar to AOSP. If you liked the GS4 you'd probably like the G3 but it wasn't that great an upgrade. Still though, its logical to get the G3 if your S4 is broken as its pretty much an S4 with more up to date components and an LG logo on it.
Thanks for the input ! I did buy a G3 and will set it up this weekend. I will look into the ROM you mentioned too.

I wish I'd seen this sooner. I'd have steered you clear of the G3. Biggest piece of garbage unless you're running boring stock. Even the CM team can't figure out how to make a stable ROM for it... And they've been at it for over a year! Bluetooth audio will never be right, Bluetooth LE will stop working altogether and you'll experience major network connectivity issues... All on day one and with any of the custom ROMs out there. It seems that the LG is so proprietary that nothing can control it aside from the boring, bloated, ugly and battery eating stock.

Thanks for the opinion, but I have to say I'm loving my D851.
I rooted it and installed TWRP straight out of the gate, so that I could make some changes I wanted to (such as uninstalling T-Mobile specific system apps, not needed for me on ATT), but I never even needed to change out the ROM. The phone works great on the stock ROM (minus a few things I manually debloated), and doesn't feel bloated or laggy. I didn't even bother to install the Cloudy ROM (debloated stock).
I did install the Google Now launcher, because I wasn't a fan of the stock UI. I like the things Google Now brings to the table and it cleaned up the UI.
After the first few days I stopped playing around with the phone because everything works great. Bluetooth to my car, no problem, great WIFI antenna and Cell receptivity as compared to my Galaxy S4. Nice screen, battery life is outstanding...
Loving the phone.
Can't disagree with Aalendi more. I've had the 851 for almost 18 months and running SR Lolly V6 - Final on it for the past 6 months. Works perfectly and even though I'm tempted from time to time to "upgrade" to another phone, I cannot find enough differences out there to warrant it. Android 6 is already emerging and I'm waiting to upgrade the ROM when I feel its almost glitch-free (which it's not at the moment. I think you made a fine decision. JM2C
Manual debloat?
I am sorta/kinda new to the ROM party and am able to install TWRP and flash/root my D851. However, I went back to the stock ROM because of Wi-Fi calling and more stable network connectivity than 3rd-party ROMS. My question to you is what do you mean by 'manual debloat'? Is that a function of TWRP or simply removing/disabling apps? Thanks.
Manual de-bloat refers to you being able to remove programs that carriers or manufacturers install on your phone when you first purchase it. Rooting your phone allows you to do this yourself.

New A3 2017 user: questions

Hello, i just got my A3 2017. I have a few questions, i hope you can answer them.
1) Android version is Oreo 8.0, security 1. december 2018. I want to know if they fixed the bootloop and crash when you use certain wifi's. And if there is any other major fault on this android version.
2) Is there any reason to downgrade to 7.0 or 6.0.1 on this phone ? I dont care about latest version, i just want the version that works best with no problems.
3) Can i use call recorder on this phone and how ? I will not root the phone (have my reasons) and i want only official roms
4) Anything i should know about this phone to get the best experience ?

To start, yes, all issues have been fixed. Now, with these requirements you're pretty much limited to oreo as you can't downgrade to a version with an older bootlader without rooting or using a custom recovery. The oldest build you can flash is the August 2018 one since it shares the same bootloader (Version 3) with the December 2018 one. Now call recording is pretty much dependent on CSC (Country Sales Code). So unless your phone came with a CSC that allows call recording, you'd have to switch to one that does have it, otherwise you'd have to root and flash a package that unlocks all CSC specific features on your existing rom. And lastly, yeah Exynos 7870 isn't that great anymore and even though samsung keeps using it in phones, the RAM and Storage of this phone really kill it, so unless you are going to do basic tasks with frequent maintenance, this phone won't really be your cup of tea.
Thank you for your replies,
Im happy that problems have been fixed and i can remain on 8.0 with no problems. Call recording is probably off but i can live with that. As for speed, there is no worries, i mostly just use it for calls and messages and occasionaly browse a webpage and use google maps. Coming from samsung s5 mini, this should be plenty fast.
I did some testing and using lab501 web browsing simulation with wifi on and screen on normal, battery lasted a whooping 1060 minutes. Coming from s5 mini which lasted about 300 minutes, u can understand how i feel. Also i tested always on screen: in 10.5 hours battery went down 3%. I am still deciding whether to use it or not. Its also a lot faster than my s5 mini, that was basicly the main reason i upgraded phone. s5 mini was otherwise perfect, but it was really slow.
I am wondering about some camera tips. I want to get the most out of camera. How to tweak it ?
Just wanted to say so far i am very happy with my phone. It is snappy enough (obviously with disabled animations and some apps), battery is great. Camera obviously could be better but thats a compromise you have to take. I wish it was a bit smaller, i have to use it with 2 hands often. Its very slippery, i use a "condom" for it but that is also slippery, which is absolutely stupid. I ordered like 6 new "condoms" of different looks and types and hope that 1 of them will make the phone as awesome to hold as s5 mini was. Remember s5 mini back cover is basicly rubber, that phone sticks to your hand ! I have some more questions.
1) how to get the most out of the camera, what settings ?
2) is it possible to remove the back cover and replace it with a rubbery back cover, like s5 mini had ? Or maybe buy some duct tape that would be less slippery and just stick it to the phone ?
