So basically I came from the GS4 then N5 now M8 and I can't say enough how much I am in love with this phone.
I'm a flashaholic and I know why because I'm always trying to improve my phone, maximize battery and performance.
It took me a while but finally got an M8 and have no urge whatsoever to flash, at all!
I've always been a pure android nut but sense 6 is just awesome.
Battery life is insane on this phone stock, and build quality.... OMG!
Just wanted to say I LOVE this phone!

The M8 is very well done device and HTC did a great job with Sense 6. I did the GPE conversion and after a month of testing, I decided that I like Sense better. Pretty harsh realization on my part.
There really is no need to root this phone. In fact unless the m9 really has something new and exciting I'm going to stay with this device for awhile
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Ya I have no urge to root this phone either, its actually weird lol. Don't meet to root for Greenify, UI tweaks, custom kernels etc. Its strange how a great launcher and awesome battery life can change your perspective.
I came from Note 2 to Nexus 5 and now m8. Honestly despite a better processor really not much of a difference between Nexus and m8. However jumped to m8 due to bigger battery and SD card. Later I would appreciate premium build and boom sound
Same here man... I don't even see a reason to root this phone.. It's awesome and I just installed this slickwrap with my favorite color and now it's just baddass.. lol

I have to agree with you on this. I did the GPE conversion to my M8 as well, and I just went back to Sense after 2 weeks. I came from a Nexus 5 and I love what I will call "Stock Android." I still have a Nexus 7 so I can have that clean look. I will keep my M8 on Sense until I feel I'm ready to move to a new phone.

I've seen many people root just for this, I'm actually considering it now, there seems to be something keeping my phone awake, plus Greenify I have always loved. Definitely looking into rooting now.

Are most users in desire forum own a higher end device and have a desire as a secondary device? Or do most users own 1 device (desire) and use it as their primary device?
Curious to see if porting sense 3.6/4.0 is important
Desire as primary. Nothing else.
Should have added a poll.

Samsung devices are good, but when you see the built quality of HTC Devices Samsung looks very cheap.
I have tried different devices like Sony, Samsung Galaxy SLCD, but HTC Desire is still the Best, both in terms of looks, built and also It has a large number of Custom ROM's.
Yes Desire will remain my Primary Device for atleast One more year.
It was my first mobile and I still use it as my primary device.

Just give the guy a straight answer. He doesn't need to hear your complaints or experiences with the Desire or any other device you own.

I use Desire as my primary phone, and i won't see myself change my phone for a while.
So yes, i think Sense 3.6 / 4.0 port is important
It's my first smartphone and I still use it as primary device. Love it!! The dedelopment is great and i learned a lot about Android, Kernels and Linux. So I think with a custom rom an some mods it's everything you need at the moment to be happy.

And where did he say he want to? He is rom developer. He already knows the limitations of that phone otherwise he wouldn't try to port a Sense 4. All he needs to know is if its worth wasting his time developing a new rom for all of you. Just give him a straight answer and not waste his time reading through your opinion before giving him the answer that he needs.

The Desire HD is a must have phone, especially for the its current price on the market! Battery isnt fantastic but custom ROMs fix that and if you're not too much of a tech junkie where you have a must have need for all the latest tech, then I'd definitely suggest the DHD!
To be honest I've had my DHD since it's release and it has proved to be reliable, stable & just plain brilliant! Battery on stock ROM's are a mixed bag but easily fixed by flashing a new ROM (don't go for Sense unless you like pretty stuff, it uses fair chunk of battery 'cause of the animations), camera is decent (although lack of front facing camera can be dissapointing at times), screen is, again, brilliant (AMOLED & LED are just gimmicks to be honest), speaker is a little tinny (only REAL dissapointment on the whole phone).

That looks like a decent run. Near water too, so I assume less traffic fumes. What's the reason you use the GPS when running? (Speed, time?) The line is a little jagged. We didn't want to say, but you do kind of wobble when you run.
Maybe the water or buildings somehow throw the GPS off.
Back on topic: If a Desire HD is a decent step-up from your current phone and the price is much lower than 18 months ago, then there's no reason to shy away from getting one, in my opinion. I still value mine.
I'm most likely going to be getting this phone sometime in the near future and wanted to ask if anyone noticed any niggles or other nonsense that sometimes happens with Samsung Android phones (i.e. roaming notification not caring about no longer displaying the message, GPS issues, etc.)
Just quick reviews, mostly I'm looking for the little things that bug people.
Thanks

+1, had a number of smartphones in the past, this one clearly blows all of my expectations away. The only issue I've had is sporadically losing connectivity to my wifi and I'm not sure if it's something I've loaded or a bug from Samsung/Sprint. My kids have the Evo LTE and Iphone 4S and I wouldn't trade for the world.
The best phone yet IMO, yes the only con I have found is data connectivity every once and awhile. LG8 radio seems better than any other. Been running jellybomb rom, superfast. Fastest phone I've owned so far, and I've had um back to the HTC Hero.
message brought to u by my JellyBombed GalaxyS3

What's not to love about it. Bought the phone on Friday and I just can't get over how great this phone REALLY is. Display, speed and battery are superior to any phone I have seen or used. Did I say the display was great.... I hope we do get developers for this phone, because it would be a shame not to really see what this phone can do. I when in to ATT to purchase the HTC One, looked at the high end smart phones and walked out with the G Pro. I guess you can tell, I am quite happy with my purchase.

Speed. No lag its so quick. S4 lagged to hell.

Not much. Maybe the video 1080p quality. But recent updates have improved it.

Ms D.
Talks over in Elevate show that Google delivered Android 5.0 Lollipop. HTC promise to their top tier devices within 90 days. The counter starts now.
Who thinks they will get it done in time? Lets talk about it below.
They may get it done in time but there is no chance verizon releases anytime soon.
Now that the Play store has an option for carriers send their bloatware to their customers we might see it withing the allotted time. Plus the GPE edition roms should hit within the next 2 weeks. Giving us a little taste of 5.0 without the wait.
The play store option is almost getting to be a must these days. The system partition use is just getting way too high. Plus with changes to how root would work it sorta makes sense.
Speaking from past occurrences with Verizon and HTC working together, I say it will be about 2-3 weeks past the deadline

This also means the user can nuke the bloat they dont want. Thats if VZW doesnt hide a little piece of it in /system. Now with most companies moving away from the SD slot, It would make sense to lower system partition size so the user has more space for everyday items like pics or videos. Its a win, win for the user and carrier IMO

Seeing as how we don't have the selinux level and kernel that the new devices and lollipop are meant to have, I think we will still see system partition based bloatware on this device.
Once the M7 GPE gets the rom, would the GPE kernel be ported over as well? Trying to get an idea of how stable it would be.

Yes, as long as source is posted for it(which it generally is posted at time of release).
Then yes, the kernel source would also be ported for our m7 variant and should be just as stable as the Official release for Gsm GPE models.
Just the same as has been done with past revisions.
