So I had lucky patcher and few other ad blocking apps on my tab 3 and I did a factory reset on it.
Now my Google play store is unable to sign in and after much research I found out that the reason being the host file.
Then I checked my host file and it is blocking it. I am unable to edit it with any rooted explorers and I also get prasing error when I am trying to install any apk files. So can't undo what lucky patcher did.
I found some threads here which say, I need a stock rom to fix it but I couldn't find one for my model.
samsung tab 3 T217A.
I would really appreciate if someone can help me fix this problem.
Thank you.

First of, jump down to the red dotted line for what i need help with, the text above just explains root method, phone and programs i have installed.
Thanks for taking the time.
I have been searching and reading up on every problem I've had so far in the install, i have come to a dead end and i need to get pushed a step further, i need help.
I am installing BT5 ARM on my Note 2 N7100.
Whatever the reason, i grew up with BT and i have my reasons why i want it on my phone (if i wanted to crack someone i would have just used my BT on USB, i have a lot of different things like this mostly for nostalgia)
I have a Note 2 N7100 with android 4.1.2
I rooted my phone using METHOD 2 in this thread (Odin307)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143479
I have SuperSU BusyBox and AndroidVNC
All installed and working as they should.

Now it gets wierd.
On Terminal Emulator i grant SU and go into the BT5 folder and boot the "bootbt" file.
"ioctl LOOP_SET_FD failed: Device or resource busy"
I am not a linux expert, I am what you will call an experienced n00b :good:
I was up LATE last night and i figured out something i cant remember now.
It was something about if my device had "loop 1-2-3-4 etc" enabled?
AND that i might need an modified "bootbt" file ?
I am so stuck and I have been staring in the eyes of this problem for so long i have gone blind.
Help me see.
Thank you.
I have the same problem on my samsung s5
good to know
you need custom kernel, as stock doesn't support it
Just received my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900T yesterday and it's gorgeous! I used CF-Auto-Root to get root in under 30 seconds as advertised! I installed F-Droid and then Adaway, which is my ad blocker of choice, but it has a problem writing the hosts file. I was wondering if this has something to do with not having access to a particular partition? It's not really a huge ordeal and I know the device is brand new but I thought I would throw this out there just in case anyone else had noticed the issue or has a solution. Thanks in advance.

Make sure Busybox is up to date. If you installed it, rebooted, and it still doesn't work, try enabling USB debugging, and try again. That worked for me in the past when I had issues with it not working right.

To update my own results. I couldn't get it to work normally. I had to change the host destination in settings to /data/data/hosts, and then let the app create a symlink. Now it works great.

Can anyone upload the stock keyboard APK for me? I've tried the apk from the thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/themes-apps/samsung-ime-choose-stock-note-pro-t3024272 - but it won't install on my device. I don't know if it's because I'm running BlissPop 5.0.2, or not, but I'd love to give it a go if anyone can help?

I'd like the stock Samsung keyboard apk to use on an AOSP ROM. Can I extract SamsungIME.apk from a Touchwiz ROM?
Bump.
The link is dead. Can someone PLEASE re-upload this. I've spent days mindlessly searching for a way just to get the pleasant sound the Tab S keyboard gave on KitKat after updating my ROM. (Yes, I've tried the system/media/audio/ui replacement technique, but it doesn't work. I can't find that damn sound file anywhere. I even went do far as to delete the entire folder, but it got rid of every system sound BUT they keyboard...
Please help an amateur developer out.
I just recently got this phone and started playing around with it.
I'm currently rooted on the stock ROM.
One of the first things I wanted to install is, in fact one of biggest reasons why I rooted the phone in the first place was to install Xposed Framework and customize it bit by bit on my own.
However, it seems that I can't actually install the framework? When I download the installer, I get this message in the Framework tab:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I suppose I could still flash the zip manually in the recovery but it sounds awfully risky considering the message.
I'm sorry if this was asked before but I searched the Xposed Framework threads and couldn't find anything about it. Google search came up with a few hits saying that I could simply by downloading the latest version but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I appreciate anyone willing to help.

So, after some extensive research, I finally got it to work.
Just download this modified installer, and choose automatic recovery installation.
Good luck!
By the way, if for some reason you can't boot up, the installation will leave a Xposed Disabler zip on your main storage. Flash it and you should be good to go.

Hi,
I am using Zenfone 2 ZE551ML and I install Lineage OS 14.1.
I realized I only have root access via ADB then I download addonsu-14.1-x86-signed.zip file from download.lineageos.org/extras.
I flashed with TWRP and I see the new options in settings like "Apps and ADB" and I choosed this one then I tried apps need root access and no apps work.

Download this zip file: theflamingskull.com/downloads/addonsu-14.1-x86-silvermont.zip [I can't put links thats why i put the link like that]
Then open your recovery mode(twrp) and flash it.
My phone is Zenfone 2 ZE551ML so if your phone is not the same model please do not try it.
