Ok I recently upgraded from a LG G Pro to the G3..I have skimmed through the G3 threads and can't seam to locate any Roms that say they are comparable with the AT&t LG-D850... Or an I missing something. ?
Also are there any CWM recoveries for our phones?
Has a boot loader workaround been found like the Loki patch foer the G Pro?
Thanks in advanced guys...

Currently, no. I just got mine as well. I looked everywhere, and it seems from what I've read LG won't release the bootloader unlock due to carrier agreements. Only the T-Mobile variant has an unlocked bootloader.
However, you can root and install xposed framework + G3TweakBox. There is a lot you can still do here :good:

Need some help.
I se development of roms are a bit slow here when you are used to galaxy s4.
But still the LG firmware are very good i must say. I read that CM is on its way once the bootloder thing i fixed.
So now my question. Is there a stable recovery for the G3?
I am happy with the G3 it is a top notch phone i think and I hope development will explode.
Take care.
Only varient with stable recovery is tmobile...everyone is arne't as lucky due to the locked bootloader

What She said plus I don't mean to bust your bubble but the unlock bootloader thing. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. There is a way to get tethered TWRP recovery but it involves ADB side loading and things of a more advanced nature. For now I would recommend Xposed along with G3 tweakbox and Nova. It's a winning recipe.
Hope this helped.
I'm about to buy the international version of LG G4. And wondering if anyone has had any success with installing Xposed with no issues.
Also would appreciate if anyone can please direct me for the most safe steps to root the G4
Thanks in advance :good:
i got bootloop with xposed.
there is good rooting guides if you look in g4 threads.

Too bad :crying:
I'm kinda obsessed using xposed & GravityBox, extremely looking forward to get xposed work on LG G4
If anyone knows the trick, please keep us posted .. and I will .. :good:
From what I recall back when I was running GravityBox on my Nexus devices, it is only supported on Nexus and AOSP-based roms. Pretty sure even if we get Xposed working on the G4, you won't be able to use GravityBox on the stock LG ROM.

Not sure if it would matter as far as this case goes, but I was able to run GravityBox on my Galaxy Note Edge (which was on a modified stock TW rom, so no AOSP-Base), Not sure why it would run on TW and not UX.....but then again, who knows....I guess the whole point is moot if we can not find a way to even get Xposed running in the first place.

Thanks for your reply. I was reading almost all threads about rooting the G4, however, haven't yet found anything about rooting version H818. Please let me know if you have any idea about a successful rooting method for H818.

As you know, you must unlock your boot loader before you can root your G4. Mine is the international or EU model H815 unlocked and rooted back in May. Take heart. It is easy. Key points are: a visit to the LG support site. Then can make your way to the Developer section and register to receive the bootloader unlock code. LG will try three times to dissuade you but will in the end email you the code. Once done the process is "irreversible" and will always show bootloader ulocked (on the boot screen). LG say they have listened to customers (a dig at Sammy and the i-sheep) and have started to roll out the unlock code globally. Yours may be listed already, if not it soon will be. It's been a month now so register / monitor the site. Once you unlock, you'll find step by step method of rooting your G4 here on xda. I posted one myself but thread was closed as there is one there already. Your next query will probably be a lean deodexed ROM or to install Xposed. Sadly, no news on either of those for the G4. Hopefully a bright spark will crack those soon.

That's not accurate, you don't need to unlock the bootloader to root the device. There is root available for most variants in the dev section and none of them save the 815EU and H811 (TMo) variant have an unlocked bootloader available. The H815 you have to get unlocked via the LG support site as you mentioned and the H811 is unlocked by default from TMo.

On the G3 we had a module called G3 Tweaksbox which did a lot of the same things as GravityBox, and more, specifically designed for the G3. We can hope the same happens with the G4!
Long live XPOSED and G3 (G4) Tweaksbox!
Looking around the forum and Lineageos' website I see there's no version for the H812 (Canadian version). As per my research I see you can't root it which is fine I don't want it rooted. I just want to install a custom ROM so I can get rid of the bootloop problem.
Can it be done?

The H812 has a locked bootloader and cannot be unlocked officially. This means you cannot install a custom rom in the usual sense. However, steadfasterX has successfully unlocked an H812. Refer to https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/bl-unlock-unlock-bootloader-proof-t3648288and in particular the following post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73702478&postcount=66
Read the OP carefully and be fully aware of the risks and limitations. He can help with the bootloop problem as well.
You can root Lollipop (Android 5.1) but not Marshmallow (6.0) and install Xposed and Twrp-in-FiSH (a custom recovery developed by steadfasterX for LG G4's with locked bootloaders: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/locked-twrpinfish-locked-g4-devices-t3573048
Refer to the following thread for the root process and Xposed reference: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/canadian-guide-complete-source-lg-g4-t3212449
Post any questions you have in the referenced threads.
I have a non-FiSH TWRP installed. It's steadfasterX's preview. Tried both O and N both work fine. However on mine I got issues with props not getting set properly, so I get junk for ro.build.device instead of h812. So I repackaged his Lineage OS and AOSCP ROMs. Did a nicer job with the LOS one. The other I just hacked out the assert() . The LOS one I put in ui_print() instead. Anyway, long story short I made myself a signed copy of each one (`signapk.jar`, `zipadjust`, and `minsignapk.jar` with that generic cert).
Also searching for H812 custom rom

I'm heavily searching for a way to install a custom rom for my LG G4 H812 phone. I'm very interested in AOSP extended rom.
Since decembre 2017, there is a new law in Canada that give the user the right to unlock the phone at any service carrier. Does this have a link to the "locked bootloader" @sdembiske?

No, the carrier does not promote bootloader unlocking. Some phone manufacturers offer 'official' bootloader unlocking for certain models but the only LG G4 models that can be unlocked this way are the H815 International/European and the H811 U.S models. However, all is not lost with regards to the H812 Canadian model. It can be 'unofficially' bootloader unlocked due to the brilliant and diligent work of @steadfasterX, recognized developer.
Refer to the following link: [UNLOCK][UNOFFICIAL][G4] Unlock **ANY** LG G4 device with UsU
Read everything fully and carefully in the OP (original post, 1st page) and make sure you understand it fully. Links to specific custom roms for the H812 will be found there. Post any questions, problems you run into on that thread.
Make sure you back up your stock Marshmallow rom with SALT, only, before proceeding to unlock your H812.

Yeah, check these forums (fora?); That's where I found all the info. I used SALT where it grabs all the partition data, and just followed the steps.
As for the H812, I ended up with TWRP, and Magisk for root access, and the latest LineageOS at the time. Battery life was a lot better, though the only problem I had was video playing. I couldn't get smooth playback above 720p. It may have improved since.
I was trying to flash official zip from lolinet. I got a moto g fast carrier locked from boost mobile, bootloader unlocked tho. To see if I can remove the software variant "boost". Obviously to use it with my current carrier Metro. But I accidentally....(yeah right)! LOL. I ended up flashing in a blink the zip file
RAV_RETAIL_11_RPJ31.Q4U-47-35. and now, I got my self a moto g8 with android 11. Let me tell you. ITS AMAZING....some screenshots...
Got a link to where to download this firmware? The latest RetUS firmware on lolinet is still Android 10.
Does Android 11 on G Fast support WiFi calling?
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/rav/official/RETAIL/RAV_RETAIL_11_RPJ31.Q4U-47-35_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
That's the link from lolinet.
I have been exploring the device. (Hidden menu/settings, secrets codes) and I do see wifi calling native. But when I start the "action" it just opens up an empty white screen from settings that sais wifi calling preferences...
But no option to select....at all.
maybe cause my carrier doesn't support this mode?

I was too lazy to change my phone to RETAIL channel. Looks like Android 11 has now come to RETUS channel.
The firmware now includes a super.img_sparsechunk.15 file. I cut and pasted stock firmware flash instructions and failed to notice that it didn't flash this file and my phone boot looped. I redid the flash with all 15 sparsechunk files and now my phone works on Android 11!
I haven't made any calls yet. Call quality has been absolutely abysmal with Boost thus far, presumably due to lack of WiFi calling.

Yes I have a moto g facking boost mobile. There is no way of sim unlock this thing. Only sprint can do it. I'm on the latest ResurrectionRemixOS. And is, thus, trust me on this, the only ROM that fits my needs. I can do all and stil boot it up. No issues.
I'm on the latest TWRP recovery. Like flashed on memory....
Oh yeah and im under T-Mobile APN downloads are 50mb+ EVERYWHERE.
Stock Rom from boost mobile is horrible

Do you guarantee that by changing the rom I can unlock my phone?
Hey everyone, having an issue with my LG G8. It is a sprint phone, however I was using it through T-Mobile. The problem came when I tried to switch to Mint Mobile, I am unable to edit any of the current APNs and I cannot select them or any new ones that I create. Because of this I have no data and cannot even call or text. Any help is appreciated!

Pretty sure that running the Sprint rom, you won't find a way to make it work (properly) with t-mo mvno. Why not just cross-flash to US Open rom? My G8 has that rom and it works great with Mint, has volte and vowifi etc.
Mine is orig Sprint also, used remote unlock to unlock from Sprint. Then used Bkerler EDL utilities to completely backup Sprint rom (no kdz available, also, many of the files backed up now available could be needed later).
then use Netmsm guide to do crossflash, you don't have to root, but can if you want to. Since there won't be any more updates, really no reason not to. Latest (and probably last) version is a11. It works very well.
cheers

Hello. LG G8 ThinQ Unlocked (T-Mobile) here. Also got Mint Mobile. Everything works flawlessly w/o going through all that. Wi-Fi Calling, VoLTE, HD Voice+. Just wanted to say that we are getting Android 12. "Google is expected to release the stable Android 12 update by the end of August or within the first two weeks of September 2022 for the LG G8 ThinQ."

Well, you "go through all that" if you don't happen to have a T-Mobile device. And, not sure where you're getting your information but, Google does not release the ROM for LG devices, LG does.
