I rooted, unlocked bootloader, flashed firmware up to .79, installed turbo 3.1 and moved the racing speed rom to my sd file.
I can get into the turbo boot menu but when I try to use CWM to install the rom from sd it freezes on "Installing update."
It also freezes doing other things: It won't boot into TWRP (Hangs on the loading screen) and it won't mount system (it just freezes).
I suspect the kernel is corrupted. My question is, what do I do now? To make matters worse I don't have a recovery image in can restore using CWM (sorry, noob). Is there a way of using CWM to re-flash the kernel with turbo 3.1? Or can I use CWM to put the phone into fastboot mode so I can reflash with turbo 3.1?
I'm totally lost, I have sunk hours into trying to get this to work!
Did you erased system and data from fastboot after flashing kernel? You must do that every time when flashing kernels with different partitions
EDIT:
download attachment, unpack, put your phone in fastboot mode and double-click on "start.bat". When finished reboot to recovery

To be honest, I don't think I did. It has been incredibly difficult to follow this process because the instructions on the threads assume a lot of knowledge.
Assuming, I failed to erase system and data as you said, what should I do now?
Thanks for your help, appreciated.

Hi Guys
Wondering if you can help, I have checked other threads with similar titles but to no avail for my problem in which I post.
I was moving from leedriod extreme rom to viper rom.
I made the mistake of flashing the boot.img zip file rather than just the .img file.
This keeps putting me into the an unlocked bootloader, I have gone to my cwm recovery as i backed up prior to doing so, however when I restore and it completes it, I reboot and it still goes to bootloader, I tried an older restore point and I get the same.
could anyone please help me?
Many thanks
Mick
Have you tried reflashing boot.IMG ?
Sent from my HTC One X
Reflash the boot.img and you should be fine, if all fails run the RUU.
Hi and thank you for your replies.
I tried flashing the boot img with the flasher that the viper rom comes with, however kept saying failed.
I have since locked and unlocked the boot locker
locked as i wanted to run the stock rom and unlocked due to not having enough battery.
I amm currently carrying out the battery .bat mod in which it charges it up every 6 seconds.
Would you suggest I try again with the boot.img file or just go straight to stock rom?
p.s. i have latest cwm and left it on charge and it did not charge, is this related?
I will get there said:

Have you tried wiping dalvik cache?
Hi Bossman
Yes tried wipe dalvik cache also full factory reset too!
Maybe the boot.img is corrupted? Try re-downloading.
How did you flash your boot.img? You should just extract the zip file and use their bat file to flash.
After that, re-install re-install the rom again. should be resolved.
1. Go into fastboot mode on phone
2. Load up command prompt and execute fastboot erase cache
3. Reflash boot.img
4. Flash Superwipe from ARHD thread
5. Reflash LeeDroid
Should work..

I tried installing a custom rom today and I think I messed up really bad, because my phone does not get pass the boot screen and I cannot enter the recovery setting. I think I messed up after entering
fastboot flash boot boot.img
in the command prompt and restarting because I forgot to put the rom zip on my phone. Since then I could not get pass the boot screen and even tried running a backup using CWM, but it didn't help. I then managed to mount my phone and put the rom onto it and installed it, but again it didn't help.
Now my phone can only enter the bootloader, I select hboot and fastboot, but nothing else works. Everytime I select recovery or factory reset I get the htc boot screen and it gets stuck. Does anyone have any solutions?
Thanks
did u backup your phone rom???
if you did u can go to recovery and restore it
and never try to change rom again trust me in that
otherwise i can't help bcuz i did the same mistake
I did make a backup, but like I said I can't enter recovery anymore, so I can't load the backup.
Thanks for trying to help anyway though.

What HBOOT version do you have and what custom ROM are you trying to install?
edit: you didn't need to restart after changing boot.img cause in Recovery you can just go Advanced and then mount USB and copy the ROM or whatever files you want that way.

I have hboot 1.39.0000 and I was trying to install the latest cyanogenmod cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-endeavoru.
Yeah I realized this after I restarted and did it get the zip onto the phone. I think I installed it, but the phone is still stuck on the boot screen
UPDATE: Okay I've managed to install CWM recovery, so I think I'm making progress
You had to flash CWM again? Odd..
Anyway, if you happen to encounter the same problem with CM10 I suggest you try some other custom ROM.. Just make sure you "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and then "fastboot erase cache", and if for some reason you decide to format the sdcard or simply forget to add in the ROM zip, you can do it in Recovery when you mount the device as USB under Advanced options. Best of luck!

Yeah CWM didn't load up, but I got it working again. Well it seems I'm back to getting the rom to install and being stuck at the boot screen again, so maybe I just need to use a different rom. Thanks for the help though
Okay, I've tried installing a few roms, but unfortunately I'm still on the boot screen, I can sometimes even reach the cyanogenmod boot screen, but get stuck there. I've read that this might be kernel issue, does anyone have any ideas?
CM10 requires a special boot.img for newer hboots. Check post 9308 in CM10 thread.

Ok, so..my Girlfriend tried to root the phone herself and i think something went wrong...actually i know something went wrong..when i load up the Bootloader it gives me a few NO IMAGE found things on the SD card....but the real issue arises when i try to load a ROM onto the phone it will function for like 5 maybe 6 mintues then restart.
I tried to restore the phone to before roms were attempted to be installed on it, and the phone just hangs on the HTC screen and doesn't move.
I've tried installing Different Kernels using the whole fastboot flash boot boot.img method and none of the kernels i install seem to help..
I'm not 100% familiar with this phone since i myself use a S2 Skyrocket..
So my real question is..is there any way to get this phone back to square one so i can reinstall HBoot or whatever its called, or is there a way from where i'm at to stop this phone from constantly rebooting itself?
i don't think because there is no way to reinstall Hboot , only it can be done by HTC service centre but i will advice you to root it again from beginning , if your bootloader is already unlocked then try to root HOV , and after rooting i will suggest you to use PA rom with cm10 hellboy kernel
The no image thing is normal.not to worry.
Which Rom did you try to install?
Edit:is the phone gsm or cdma?

I was trying to install that one "Pacman"
It gets about to the point where she would enter her information for account sync and then it would just reboot.
and the phone is CDMA through Virgin Mobile
And about the CM10 thing, i was reading that CM10 doesn't work with the camera, and she needs the camera for work to send pics to her other managers
Ok,your phone is completely normal.
Now,do this in order
Put Rom and gapps in sdcard
Put the kernel in fastboot/platform-tools folder
Boot into bootloader and select fastboot.
flash kernel using the command you described in OP
Enter recovery.do a full wipe,i.e,factory reset,wipe cache,wipe.dalvik cache.also,go into mounts and storage and format every partition,except sdcard.
Then flash the Rom.zip, boot into Rom and then again into recovery and flash gapps.

Ok doing that now, Do i format the/sd-ext? or just leave that alone with the sdcard
sd-ext format isn't supported so you may as well leave it.and, use the boot.img inside the zip, that is the supersick kernel.

You said in OP that you have a backup right?restore it first.and flash the boot.img found inside the backup.

You have to flash the kernel first!only then will it boot.
Go into fastboot, flash the kernel found inside the backup and then restore it.

Hi all.
Just got my one x 32gb, basically...wifi and mobile signal was all working perfect, so I did what I usually do and flash a custom rom straight away.
Unlocked the bootloader with the all in one tool kit and the token etc and installed recovery.
Installed Viper kernel, the Viper Rom.
Rom installs fine, then i reboot and it goes to the screen where you have to choose 'language'
I select English, then next screen is 'Team Venom Rom Specs and setupwizard' so i click next.
then a message comes up saying 'Warning = Network service is unavailable'...so i press ok.
next screen is scan and install apps, so i do that, works fine.
Then next screen is 'internet connection' where you can choose 'mobile data or wi-fi etc.....i select 'mobile data or wifi' then click 'next'...but instead of it going to the next screen where it asks me to click on what wifi connection i want to connect to and password etc, it just goes straight to 'Transfer My Stuff' then 'Dropbox'
When ive gone through all that, I try to manually setup wifi via settings, but it just keeps saying error.
Can someone help me out please??
I've wiped everything and tried reinstalling Rom twice.:crying:
Any help would be sooooooo appreciated.:good:
cheers
Matt
fastboot erase cache after flash? installed modules for kernel?
I'm having the same problem... tried everything I can think of but no success yet.
Any suggestions?
I also have the same problem but with Renovate rom.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Flash the boot.img via fastboot and then its modules via recovery with a cache and dalvic wipe.. I'm sure it will be fixed...

Maybe you missed a step in the toolkit you used. you usually get the sort of problems you are experiencing when you either, forget to flash the boot image, or forget to erase the cache after you flash the boot image. The boot image is in the zip file of the rom, you should have extracted it from the rom zip before you placed the the zip on your sdcard. Or if you used a custom kernel it should be accompanied by modules which you have to install in the same way as the rom, ie flashed from within recovery

If you downloaded a custom kernel it will have been in a zip file. Extract the boot.img from zip and put zip on your one x. Boot your phone to bootloader choose fastboot usb. Type fastboot flash boot boot.img[or name of image you extracted]. Type fastboot erase cache. Boot into recovery and flash modules (zip file you download) after you flash modules erase cache and dalvik cache.
Thanks very much for the info guys, have now flashed the boot image and got it working. Initial problem was me being stupid, I had not made a nandroid backup of my initial rom so had nothing to recover back to. I then had the wrong hboot for the rom, was really worried.
I really appreciate the help.
Hi Everyone,
Tried to flash a rom. Wiped Data and cache the rom failed to install now im at a boot loop, I tried the "All in one" tool but it doesnt successfully flash the proper factory image.
Is there a way to get access to the internal SD card to put another ROM on there?
Im at a complete loss.

fastboot flash your system back to stock. You'll probably lose all your data though.
If you are able to boot twrp.img (without flash zip then), and connect your device to a computer you can open storage and extract some files before wipe to go back to stock, at least

This. You could try removing the -w in the flash all script when you fastboot flash the stock image so it doesn't wipe everything but it probably won't boot (won't hurt anything though if it doesn't). If it still doesn't boot then you're gonna have to wipe and start over.
take this opportunity to learn how to flash files manually. ive seen All-in-one's brick devices and cause problems that simply can be solved by the tool.
a working set of adb + fastboot drivers and you have the most powerful tool when it comes to recovery.
as for your question, get fastboot drivers, download factory image, and flash it from the bootloader.
I appreciate the feedback everyone.
