i think i bricked my note 2! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

hello, ive been searching everywhere, i finally got to load Recovery using the fix.tar but everytime im in recovery and i select install zip sdcard, my phone keeps rebooting, any help is greatly appreciated....

Have you checked the sdcard? If it reboots when you access it, it may be the culprit.

everytime i tried it would reboot, but before i gave up i was able to access it but i lost all my zip files. So i tried to Odin but i would get a fail.. after sboot it would give me the nand write faile. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried most file but it would give me the same result.

back on board... finally got it to flash using the mc2 stock files by billaird? to 4.1.2, now my question is using the Classic stock ne2 4.4.2 by chaz, do i do it from Odin? or can i odin philz.. then do it from philz recovery? thank you

I *think* chaz's is just the rom, and can be flashed through philz. Personally I would do the upgrade with garwynn's stock tar from here

Of course then you need to reflash recovery and reroot...

Jelly Bean HELP! Please Help! :)

Hi everyone. I am on the stock rom UVALH2, rooted, with a custom kernel. Can someone please help me flash back the proper kernel so I can update to JB?!
I will be in debt to you forever..
I just tried the OTA update to the newest kernel which failed and brought me to CWM. What do I need to do here?
You must be UVALJ4 to use the ota.
I suggest using odin w/ the fw I have in my fw/ota thread.

My FW thread has step by step instruction.

I'll have to try that. I flashed my old UVALH2 kernel back and then went to update. Downloaded the 335mb file but the signature verification failed and it booted to CWM. Is it because I am rooted or not on the latest UVAXXX?
Just go to Samsung updates download the whole Odin tar and just Odin it.. That's the best way

Faster to download it from my thread. Plus root66 is out too!

Found the FW thread. Need help extracting the .tar from the .7z file I downloaded. I also have Odin ready to go as well.
I'm a little confused here guys. I'm on Doc's Firmware thread and I've downloaded Odin. I also have downloaded root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.7z . However I'm stuck on how I extract the .tar file from that?
Download and install 7zip and use it to extract.

Okay doing that now. Now it seems when my phone is in CWM odin doesn't pickup/recognize the phone. However when the phone is on normally odin detects it.
-----Look Below-----
Going to do a full rundown so anyone can help me here. When I originally rooted the phone I used some type of tooklit (Looked like a green version of MS-DOS). I've always had the stock rom. I've always used CWM to flash different kernels. Right now in About Phone I'm on baseband T999UVLH2 with kernel version [email protected] #1
I'm trying to get Jelly Bean 4.1 as a clean install. Not worried about keeping root at the moment either. I have root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.tar.md5 downloaded which I am trying to push through Odin. However when I reboot my phone into CWM and connect the USB cable Odin doesn't recognize my phone. I'm willing to try anything at this point as this is frustrating me beyond belief.
You need download mode not recovery.
Same procedure but vol down instead.
Hold volume down, home and power to boot into download mode. Press vol up when prompted. Then odin will work.

I feel so stupid.. Thank you for that as well! (Can I buy you a beer?) Okay I did that Odin is now pushing root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.tar.md5. After this is done will Jelly Bean be on the phone? Should I wipe anything to get rid of the old firmware/files?
Success! Android 4.1.1 is now running with what appears to be the most updated kernel/baseband! Now should I do any type of wipe to get rid of any old files that could slow the phone down? What happens to the old firmware stuff?

Factory wipe under CWM? Will it make me lose my apps/contact info? I suppose I could always do a titanium backup.
Factory reset wiil wipe apps and user data. Not necessary but I do recommend it when updating android. Just makes for reduced potential for problems.
Reset in cwm or twrp does not wipe internal sd. Stock recovery will though.

If you downloaded the root66 zip file you just use winrar and choose extract. It will or at least should unzip to its own folder. After that just follow the directions to use Odin.

[Q] How to switch from CM10 to stock jellybean

So I'm giving my wife my galaxy s3 since I'm getting the nexus 4. I was running CM10 and she does not like cm10 and prefers touchwiz. So how do I safely go to the official tmobile jellybean update without bricking the phone. Need help been searching the forums all night. Thanks

Just flash the .zip if you want to stay rooted or you can odin which sometimes loses root. All you would have to do is flash recovery then flash the .zip with root injected to recover.

So I tried to flash the stock deodexed in cwm and it installed but I was stuck at the black samsung boot up screen. Is there like a step by step method of doing this. I'm still new to the whole odin thing and dont quite understand it.
Did you Odin back to stock? Or did you flash the .zip? There was two files on that thread I linked you to. The top one was an Odin file. The bottom one was the .zip to flash.
To use Odin DL the file then unzip the .tar and Odin it.

NP man. I was switching back and forth between ICS and jb and realized it was not only messing my SD card up but I had glitches galore on my jb ROMs. I reformatted my sdcard and Odin back to stock jb and have been running jb every since. I had a hard time understanding the process of Odin then flashing the ROM that was already rooted.

Flashing issues

Good morning you all,
I have my son's s3 on rooted stock mb1 at the moment.. was trying to update a kernel and it doesn't seem to be flashing.. the kernel name stays the same in the about phone screen... I also tried to flash the hotspot mod and it doesn't show up in the settings after flashing.. it's as of twrp isn't flashing fully.. it's says success when flashing but didn't seem to complete.. I'm thinking I may just try to update to the latest stock and go from there.. any ideas on the flashing and why things wouldn't be sticking?
Thanks

It would be very helpful to know the answers to these questions:
1. How did you attain root?
2. What recovery are you using?
3. What MB1 stock rooted ROM are you using?
4. Which kernel are you trying to flash?
5. did you check the MD5 code in the zip you downloaded?
Thanks
I obtained root using the tool kit..
I am using twrp for recovery.
Stock mb1 deoxed Rom.
Trying to flash updated optimized stock kernel..
Also retired to flash the hotspot fix zip..
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Yes.
I'd return to 100% stock and then obtain root -not- using the toolkit.
There have been lots of issues had by those that utilized that method of rooting.
First, unroot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
re-root:
follow this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoEVDgjTTdg&list=PL7011CD883D5201B8&index=12&feature=plpp_video
make sure to use the newest version of CWM (6.0.3.1) I am using touch, it works well.
EDIT: the tar file available for download (that the video talks about) should contain the latest version of CWM
Good luck
If you're just flashing a kernel you should wipe Dalvik and cache. That could be where it went sideways.

[Q] Fail to boot after installing TWRP via GooManager

Hi,
as in the title - I tried to flash TWRP via GooManager. When I tried to get into recovery, it stacked at the samsung logo... i cant boot into recovery nor system. Download mode is the only option that works.
How to fix it?
phone: N7105
On download mode try to flash stock Samsung firmware using odin.
Damn... stock roms are uploaded mostly on hotfile.com, which is shut down...
I can't find any other mirror for Polish stock rom... Does anyone have it on the hard drive and could upload it? I would be greatfull...
Ok, I found stock rom. But now, I have bootloop... I'm downloading another stock rom and will see.
Any other ideas how to bring him life again?

Failed at Odin

Hey gang, I'm stuck. I wanted to start my phone up back from stock to sell it to my friend and he wanted it not rooted. So I went to Odin and did all the steps correctly but it keeps failing. Ok last night I was able to use it and I did all the set up and even installed the update on my phone and now its on 4.3 over the air.
I wanted to put the S3Rx rom to show my friend what you can do with the phone but I can't install it because Odin keeps failing. The only thing I've noticed different was that the phone has now this "knox" app. I don't know if samsung made it harder to root your phone or what with this 4.3 upgrade.
Can someone help me solve this? what I want to do is just root my phone again. Any clues?
What are you trying to do in Odin?

I don't know what you mean about cf-auto root. I even tried the other method up the installing the twrp.tar file and using Odin trying to flash the Knox removal zip, and nothing seems to work.
I don't understand I used to do this all the time and it never gave me problems. I used to do this to clean out my phone with so much junk that it was chewing up my storage space.
If all you want to do is remove Knox then flash a recovery with Odin, and flash a stock ROM like stockmod 4.3, its also pre-roooted.. You cannot do that with Odin
Edit: also if you ever want to restore to stock or use root66 you need to flash the 4.3 tar versions, nothing below or it will fail everytime.. Things changed with the 4.3 official update

The firmware is already installed on your phone, you don't need to flash it again.. now just flash a recovery with Odin and then flash your rom

Ok, I am trying hard to get this and all I'm getting is frustrated with x amount of attempts. This is where I am: I'm on 4.3 Device status: Custom
Build: JSS15J.T999UVUEMJC
with this I can't get to flash a rom. I was trying to flash the S3Rx 3.0 aroma but whenever but it just won't and whenever I try to go to recovery through Rom Manager theres an era.
I guess I'm stuck with this so called stock 4.3 without any special features. I'm going to give it another try with another rom and see.

I've never used TWRP. I don't even know how to get it. If I do go to Rom Manager it says "you must root your phone for Rom Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su".
thats what I get when I go into Rom Manager.
when I pick ClockworkMod Recovery it asks for either 2.x or 3.x+ I pick either one and it says that it has been set up to use your existing recovery installation. then I tap OK and when I get out of app and go back into it, it says there is an update available for CWM I click at it and then it does the installation at 100% then I get "an error occurred while trying to flash your recovery"
So basically I have no recovery that can flash any roms. I really appreciate your help and patience. I'm just going insane here I honestly believe its that upgrade I got OTA to 4.3 because all along before I had 4.1.2 and gave me no problems. I think what it was is that when I used Odin to unroot my phone I did all the installation to get back to stock, then I was wondering about updates so I went to the menu and tapped on the Software upgrade and then it was upgrading (500 and something megabytes) then it reboot and it was 4.3
You need to download the recovery from http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/d2tmo and flash it with Odin.. Keep in mind that this will trip the warranty counter just to let you know, and you cannot reset it.. After that you can flash the ROM
