Good tough cases - General Accessories

Hi i have a Samsung Galaxy Ace3 LTE, is there a case like Spigen make for iphones they only seem to make top end phone cases. I worry i will drop it break the screen bit clumsy, and i don't like the wallet type case. I looked at Invishield i think its called for the glass at least, i could use a gel cover for back, but is the Invishield good for drops or just scratches?. A full case Armour is ideal but making one up if i knew how any ideas thanks

The problem is that all big case manufacturers only focus on popular Samsung models, like Galaxy S# series or Note# series. I never heard of Ace model before. So, your best bet is to search eBay for rugged case for your phone model. Yes, the quality is not going to be as top notch as Spigen or Seidio or UAG, but it should still work great and will protect your phone.
Invishield, ia screen/body cover? Those are for scratch protection only, and they distort your screen cover. You drop your phone, screen will break

Hi thanks i thought as much .. Might have to buy an Iphone then

Go on eBay, search for a tpu case. More protection than you should need. Better than those hard cases people like so much.

The way to go is a wallet case. Not only does it keep your phone safe from screen cracking, it also looks good. This site has some nice ones http://OS_SmartMobileGear

[Q] Best SGS2 Cases Available

Hi,
I'm waiting for my Samsung Galaxy S II to arrive in the mail that I just bought on Ebay for $770 CAD. I was wondering what were the best cases available that won't detract from the phone's, 'sexyness'. Here are a few cases I thought looked nice on Ebay:
Barely There Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...00292&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2449wt_1115
Leather 'Wallet' Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...58999&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3824wt_1115
Mesh Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Samsung-Genuine-...Accessories&hash=item2a119b4aec#ht_4050wt_957
Does anyone know what would be the best case for what I'm looking for? I'm focused on quality and looks rather than the price.
UPDATE: I just read the thread rules that stated "no advertising of any kind". Please note that I am not advertising these products. I am only posting them here for comparative purposes, with no intention to sell any products.
UPDATE 2: I bought the "barely there TOUGH" case. It was a little more expensive than the average case (I think it's going for 30 on ebay as of dec 16) but let me tell you, it is probably the only case you'll ever need for this phone. It feels like my phone is wearing a badass suit while still lookin fresh. Buy this case. You'll love it.

barely there and mesh case are similar..both are slim ,light.. both look perfect..
mesh case has holes that might help on heat transfer from the phone, and can be removed much easier than the barely there case..
both do not cover top and bottom of the phone(barely there protects about 0.5cm more)..
in terms of the two in my opinion mesh case is better,,
the other case protects much more..but makes your phone extra large..
its a matter of personal taste
I like the mesh case, but I doubt these cases will protect the phone from any falls. I really like the Rearth case, and the mesh case. I'm waiting now for a Case-Mate Pop case I'm going to review, which will be out in august or september as I was told from CM. The best thin cases? I really REALLY like the Rearth case. I reviewed it just yesterday, check out my sig for that. The Mesh case, which I also own, are very good, and leave the phone all sexy ... The CM cases, I don't like the barely there case series. I don't know why. It makes it look too plain.
ive got the mesh case in black look great on the phone and as already stated really easy to take on and off but it does collect dust and dirty under it like a magnet. plus probably not much protection if dropped
I've got the casemate tough n it is nice, stops dust n grease, would defiantly protect from a fall. However the phone gets stupidly hot n stays hot for ages. Just ordered a mesh case to see how that goes

I have the samsung mesh in white and it collected dust under it like nobodys business! It looks sooo sexy though! Solution? I ordered a Zagg maximum protection and installed it on the back and sides... Like stated before, the case is so easy to put on it wrapped right around it perfect and you cant even tell its there. So i am totally protected (from scratches) and still look sexy and slim.

Don't care for the mesh case... tops and bottoms are completely exposed.
I'm using the SGP Ultra Capsule in Soul Black, fantastic case.
I'm waiting for this case to be back in stock: http://www.senacases.com/samsung-cases/galaxy-s-2/ultraslim/

Could someone please recommend a good slip-in pouch for the GS2?
I don't feel comfortable with the hard plastic cases, as they tend to harm the phone body after sometime..

Thanks guys,
I think the Ottercase looks the best so far, as it seems to have the most protection. My only concern is that it may make the phone look too bulky.
Any experience with these cases?

I've got both the Casemate barely there and the genuine mesh case (black with italic S character).
Both are thin, lightweight and adds a better grip without making it difficult to put the phone in and out of your pocket (I use tight pants ). In fact they are very similar, but the barely there has a bit more matte color, and is a tad more gray when compared to the completely black mesh case. Also the mesh case feels a tad better in the hand, and is easier to take on and off (it still sits firmly on the phone).
As you are talking about keeping the sexiness of the phone, I would recommend the mesh case But they both are good, so you won't be disappointed either way.

Thanks for your input Hrti!
I heard a few other people saying that the mesh case doesn't quite cover the whole entire phone. And while the 'sexyness' is a huge factor, I am more concerned about keeping the phone completely protected. Cuz I'd be devastated if anything ever happened to my baby. lol.
Keep the suggestions coming!

Got mesh case, now back using the case mate tough. Not sure what the mesh cases point is, top n bottom completely exposed, its a dust magnet. My phone dropped from the arm of the sofa and it came clean off. I suppose it does look nice but if that's the main concern and you're not bothered about the non protection it provides you may as well not have a case. That's just my opinion anyway

Thanks for writing that - I dropped my phone last night indoors on a carpet, and I've always used the mesh case - but it popped straight off and the phone and the case were about a meter apart when they settled.... (phone was fine btw). It got me thinking if I dropped that on concrete or something it'd be pretty badly damaged!
Was looking at the case mate tough - and it's not till I just read your post now that it's convinced me to get one!

Otterbox commuter?

Anyone getting this case for the S3?
Any other cases that perform similarly and have decent front-glass protection?
I'm curious about what kind of case I even need.
I'm getting one as soon as it becomes available. I used a commuter on my vibrant for almost two years and loved it. I think galaxy s are a bit thin and light to begin with and preferred the feel of my phone with case on. After dropping my phone about 30 times and there being zero damage I have to say I think the commuter is the is perfect balance of form and function for a phone case.

30 times! Man....you should get something to strap your phone to your wrist! lol
But thanks for the review, I was thinking of defender, but if commuter is good enough, then defender would probably be overkill.
Why isn't it out?! Come on you Otters! Ramp up productions!!! The whole world is waiting!!!
From what I have seen, commuter case don't come with front glass protection right ?? How will it save the screen in case of a drop then ?? I'm also looking out for good case but defender is kinda too bulky for me , also don't want to lose on protection factor...
will try that when it's available
I want to get the commuter case but I'm waiting for a local seller to have it in stock cause i live in south east asia and shipping prices are a *****.

You have 3 basic paths you can take. Flips, pouches, cases, all with some drawbacks.
Flips will cover the screen which is their major benefit. The drawbacks with them are that many find it annoying in day to day use and some while covering the screen do not otherwise provide good drop protection. The ones that do both will be bulky.
Pouches cover the entire phone and usually provide at least moderate drop protection. Downsides here are that you usually drop the phone while using it and the entire time you are doing so the phone remains unprotected. It also puts another step in between you and answering a call. This one tends to be best for people who like to use their phone naked because of the look or feel.
Cases do not cover the screen. Protection otherwise varies widely depending on the case. These have the benefit of providing whatever protection they do provide at all times without having to fuss with the flip or removing and returning to a pouch.
Realistically there is no perfect case, you must compromise in some area whether it be screen protections, drop protection, bulk, ease of use, etc. For myself when I tried a flip case I most def didn't like it. Gave the pouch that came with my N1 a go for a while and I did kinda like that one until I dropped it onto the pavement while pulling it from a pouch. Those were tough phones and it survived the drop with nothing more than a few scratches but it moved me back to getting a case again. I'm fairly big and like to bulk up modern phones as I find them easier to handle so I actually prefer a bulkier case and will probably go with another tough case. Thats me though, everybody has a different take which is why there are so many options.
i'm looking to get a commuter as my last case purchase for this phone. having a phone covered in silicone and backed by hard plating is the best protection you can get for a phone.

"Built-in screen protector prevents scratches while retaining the touch sensitivity of the screen."
So I guess there is some kind of protection for the front side, but it cannot be too thick as it has to retain the ability to use the touchscreen. I guess if you drop it to any sharper object which reaches over the few-millimeter outer casing, your screen will shatter like any other. The third picture at their site shows the screen protector.

yea I know that what I'm looking for is something made out of silicone that raises the screen up to avoid direct contact with a phone. I don't want a flip case as it would get it my way while typing
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well the added protection to your screen is basically provided by the soft silicone. It is a damper and it will absorb most of the energy from the drop before it ever gets to the phone itself. Unless you get the screen directly hitting a corner or a stone you will be fine probably. I have a commuter in my SGS II and it is great, I've had it for a year almost and I've dropped my phone maybe a couple of times and there is not a single scratch/broken screen. The defender is way too much and it will add a lot of bulk to the phone.

That's one of the things I like about the Otterbox too, none of the ports are exposed unless they're in use. Would be nice if they could find a way to somehow put these things on a diet w/o sacrificing protection but I guess it's a very small price to pay ensure the safety of your $600 device that contains information that is priceless

Anyone have a Case Mate DIY Tough Case?

Hey guys just got a Galaxy S3 and love it! I was looking @ cases and came across Case Mate Tough Case "Design your own case" thing which I am thinking of getting. Just wanted to know if anyone has one? I don't want the case to be to bulky like the OtterBox, and want to know if the buttons and everything line up
Thanks

I have the Case Mate Tough and I really like it. Yea the reason I dint choose the Otterbox was because its way too bulky for me Case Mate Tough Its a little bit bulky(but I don't have a problem with it) but compared to the Otterbox its not bulky at all. I don't have any problem pressing all the buttons.
Otterbox has passive protection and Case Mate Tough has active protection and with that I mean that is that Otterbox as a really sleek back and its easy to drop but if you drop it it will protect your S3 better than Case Mate Tough(but its not a very big difference) but you're less likely to drop your S3 if you have Case Mate Tough because its back is not very sleek, its much easier to hold. I'm very clumsy and usually drop things all the time but because of Case Mate Tough I haven't dropped my smartphone a single time.
(I hope I make sense)

Haha thanks that makes me more confident. Do you know if Headphone jack is easily accessible? Cause my Beats Headphones have a flat connector + I have a Original Samsung Desk Top Dock that works with some cases but if it is to think it doesn't work
The headphone jack is easily accessible yes =)
What about the durability of the printings on customs CM Tough?
Hi,
I am not a case guy... I was.
I agree to the overall quality of Tough case I had to buy for my S3 after a really little fall that shattered its digitizer/screen. Really fragile to say the least... When I see what my S2 endured during a year without any protection; sure it has some scratch on the case but the glass is pristine.
After reading a lot around here and Youtube reviews, I chosed this Case-Mate model that hybrid concept felt interesting and it was easy to get it fast as soon as I got the spare part and replaced the screen to put back the S3 in service.
Find it affordable for its quality.
Finally keeping the S2 too, before it disappeared from the shelves, I bought a Tough for it just in case (and if I sell or give it, feel better).
It is far less bulky on the S2, because of its square design, seems a best fit when the S3's more flat pebble design make it appear much larger but remain pocketable in a quite slim 501 jean front pocket.
Now, I'd like to order a custom/decorated for S3's Tough, just for fun but I wonder about the durability of their printings. Any one has an experience with that?
I find the case mate phantom to be the best of both worlds. Not as big as the otterbox defender, but the rubber bumper around the phone is really thick. Just got mine ttoday and really like it

UAG black - very good protection with just enough bulk/weight combo. Also, the case fits perfectly on the phone, very high quality production. With awesome design to boot. The screen cover it brings is also the best one i've ever seen, no cheapo 3 for 1€'s from ebay even compare.

Yes! This!!! I have the exact same case its amazing! Like nothing can destroy this phone with this case!
I used a SGP Neo Hybrid since more than one year but a few month ago the polycarbonat frame is broken so I buy this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Book-Wallet...-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-III-GT-i9300-/271210987593
And I'm total happy with this Case since 2 month!
After trying about 10 cases of varying materials , shapes and sizes I chose the fake Neo Hybrid case since the origional doesn't seem to be available anymore. Build quality is quite good for under 10 bucks and if it breaks itll be cheap to buy another.
UAG is the best!! Very good quality and build. Using it with a 0,4 mm glass screen protector. Beats the plastic ones by a 1000 miles.
+1 on the bodyglove shocksuit!! The shizz.
Spigen neo hybrid now, had an Otterbox commuter for the last year. Like them both but I prefer the Spigen
Got to agree body glove is the best. Good price and doesn't make the phone to big and bulky.

Oh my god yes. the UAG case is really nice. The one thing I do dislike is that the lettering on the back came off within the first week of having it. Still recommend for durability. Btw those who want the case, Slate is a lot closer to the natural GS3 blue than you think!

most of the fake UAG case sell cheap and have letters failling off or just painted on it not mentioning the quality is not the same at all.
im not saying you brought fake one but just sharing some experiences.
also my fav case is indeed a UAG one (Scout/black) i got it from Ebay for 24$ port inclusive from a Belgian seller, i did some investigation because even if its only 10 bucks less than the official store its still suspicious, i did sent some detailed pics of the case and box info/bar code and according to the customer service : it's a original one, nonetheless i spared 10$ on it but i didnt got custom taxes.

Wow, I didn't know they sold many knockoffs. Mine was direct from Amazon through UAG. I think I just have oily skin which made it easier to reduce the sticky solution for the lettering. Thanks for letting me know of that! I might get another just to have more color selection

exactly what make a UAG better than a Otterbox, Otter are nice but too bulky.
funny experience: i had 2 S3 dropped from my balcony (around 3meter)1 from a friend with a Otterbox defender and mine with the UAG without screen protector both hit the concrete on the lower edge (where the soft bumper is) result : mine nothing the other had a little (very small) crack on the bottom of the screen xD
sorry for the blurry quality xD

That life proof looks really solid but still just a bit too bulky for me. I might get something a bit thicker than my UAG, but first I need a proper full screen protector. I've gone through like 5 because they are dammed hard to apply.

I was thinking more about a simple protective case.. not too into the cover cases
I truly recommend Urban Armor Gear
https://urbanarmorgear.com/products/samsung-galaxy-a5-2017-case
I used one for my S5 and have dropped it numerous times onto concrete over 2.5 years and nothing ever happened to it.
So I got one for my A5 as well. It has already survived a few drops .
A cheap one
I recently bought a Spigen Liquid Air. My phone didn't fall but the case is very cheap and seems to be resistant.
I've trusted Spigen as always. Got the Liquid Air in black option. I really like matte finish on the sides and it's so far the best TPU case I've ever had on smartphone. And it's relatively cheap so...
Recommend verus high pro shield
Neon flip cover is very bad. Dont use this case.
Spigen Liquid Air in black option - solid standard with nice matte finish on the sides. I really can't complain. It is very solid.

I have not used SPIGEN dual-layer case for my A5 (yet); however, I have used SPIGEN dual's, like the one your link points to, for two years on my Nexus 5. It was a fantastic case and saved that phone's life more than once.

There's a chain of stores here in Toronto, Canada that sell a film-based protection. FONELAB. They have a tablet with every known smartphone's dimensions. You present your phone, they look it up in their database then laser cut a special military grade film to you device's exact dimensions and cutouts.. You can choose -- front only, back only or a full wrap. They then chemical clean your surfaces and apply the film using a wet process.
Very neat solution, especially for Edge phones.
This isn't so much for drop protection, though it is better than naked. The film cannot be cut or scratched. If you ever choose to remove it, it peels of WITHOUT an adhesive residue.
depends on what you need / want to use it for
For anyone that wants minimum protection, yet real protection then I also can recommend the Spigen Liquid Air Armor
The reason I say real protection, is that this one unlike many other cases does actually protect your phone also on the front side. It has good raised edges that protect your screen from falls.
I would still put this one in the category of the "regular" cases as it does not add much bulk to it. It is however more bulkier than those other ones that can be found in standard the phone shops. The reason is that most of the standard or cheap cases try to be as thin as possible to make it look good or make using it easier because of the now more curved edges phones have or the swipe menu movements. Resulting in low (al most screen height) and weak edges that cannot protect your screen.
The only thing i like less about this case is the sharp look it has on the design because of the edges, giving it a more square and strong look though.
I have seen another case, which was bought in a phone shop (Vodafone it was I believe), but I can't find this one in (Vodafone) shops locally. It was only in clear color i believe. but it was more rounded, felt slightly better in use but still good enough protection to not call it useless.
Do you believe that a leather wallet case can efficiently protect my A5 2017 from drops?
If OtterBox made a defender Case I would have gone for that but sadly no luck there so after an exhaustive search with not many promising results I ended up going with the UAG case and a glass screen cover designed to fit the curved screen. Altogether i didn't end up having to spend more than $50 and I am quite happy with the results and have dropped it on asphalt and concrete without any damage. I highly recommend the Urban Armor Gear case as the other options out there are purely superficial in regards to protection.

I had that first one... it was alright
honestly I'd get the cheapest clear case from ebay... after rocking a caseless galaxy s7 active I've come to enjoy minimalist designs even if the phone takes a beating from a drop. invest in a solid tampered glass screen protector though
I always buy the "cheapest one" I get (last is made of "leather"), is a flip case and cost around 6€ inclusive shipping - now I own it more than a year and it still look "good" and after all: it still works!
I bought the spigen liquid air is ****ing perfect
