[Q] Slimport adaptor - T-Mobile LG G3

Hello to all, I've been trying to get the TV out to work on my G3 for about a month and was wondering if anybody out there has any success, If so what adapter you are using? Just trying to determine if it's just my phone that is having the problem or the adapters I've tried. So far I have tried

by Analogix Semiconductor, Inc.
All were purchased through Amazon but this site won't let me post links.
All with very unstable connections, for example playing back a video in no matter what app video goes to snow or freezes or just goes to black and sometimes works for an hour or sometimes works for 5 minutes.

Chromecast is a great wireless option and you can stream anything via the Chrome Browse as well. Also chromecast has the cast screen option that mirrors whatever is on your phone

After reading a lot of reviews, quite a free people are having problems with slimport adaptors not made from the main company.
You might want to try one made by Analogix. Their newest version is the SP1004. You could also try a different HDMI cable.
It could also be your ROM. I have great mirroring on the stock ROM, but no audio on the 4.4 PacMan ROM.

[Q] Micro USB to HDMI (MHL) Adapter

Has anyone had any luck using an a Micro USB to HDMI adapter?
I am trying to get my adapter working with the Optimus G Pro but having no luck. It does work fine with my Galaxy Note and my brother's Droid Razr Maxx HD. I read an article stating that MHL does not work with this phone yet the specs that are advertised state that the micro USB connection supports MHL.
Any input would be great.
Thanks.
If you're using the mhl adapter, that's the problem. No need for mhl at all.

What do you mean?
Am I correct in saying that the only way to view your home screen and games on the big screen is to use the miracast device or an MHL adapter? I can already view videos wirelessly through DLNA but I want to do more than just watch media.

I'll check when I get home, I wouldn't guess it would be an issue with this phone

OGPro doesn't support mhl. Straight USB to HDMI is what u need.
MHL adapter won't work. You'll need a SlimPort adapter, which is much more expensive.
Thanks Guys I'll get one and try it out.

[Q] How to output to TV?

I've been trying to figure out how to mirror my Nexus 7's display to my standard TV. I believe I need a composite cable to do this. Is there any way I can directly output from the Nexus 7 to composite? Or do I have to go Nexus 7 > HDMI > HDMI to Composite Converter > TV? I'm just searching around for the cheapest possible solution, thanks!

Well, I'm searching for a method that does not involve HDMI. That will be most cost efficient and have less cables. I don't have an HDTV so I need a composite cable. Thanks!

Yeah i know what are you trying to do, but actually the only way to get wired audio/video signal is to use the slimport adaptor. (With wireless you would use Miracast but this isn't your case) So in your case you must use the slimport, the hdmi to composite adaptor and i think you should be good.

Okay, thanks! If I purchase the Official SlimPort, will I be able to mirror both the Nexus 7 and other Samsung devices? Or just Nexus devices? Thanks.

It would work fine with every device that support Slimport, newer devices do like LG G2, G Pad 8.3, Nexus 5 and so on. But you should check on the specifications of your devices. Before Slimport productors used to support MHL, which is almost the same but it keeps busy the USB port and on display that doesn't support MHL you should even buy an adapter which even needs external power supply.. if you can see on the Analogix Slimport adaptor you got a microUSB and the HDMI, the first is just for using it as the device one and HDMI for streaming. I was reading that Slimport has some limitations about the length of the HDMI cable, something like that it needs to be not longer than 50 centimeters otherwise you'd encounter problems..
Anyway i think that the Slimport adapter that costs just 15 bucks will be great.

Alright, looks like the SlimPort isn't going to work with the Samsung devices. Is there a cheap alternative so I can switch between Nexus 7 and the other devices? Specifically the S3 and S2 (Epic 4G Touch)
Thanks!

I think the only way is to use Wi-Fi Direct/DLNA. If you're gonna cast your screen just for viewing youtube, netflix and stuff like that, you could use the Chromecast, which does that particular job. It can't cast the entire screen but movies, audio (and other DLNA stuff) and compatible apps (you need to see on its webpage) can right now. To cast the entire screen you would need the Miracast technology but i don't know if there are any good dongles on the market that permit to do that as chromecast does. I hope you know what I mean, i'm not a native english speaker
You should take a look at the Chromecast if that can do what you need, or you can see Miracast dongles like this but i can't suggest anything
OK, I'm trying to do the same. I bought a slimport adapter and a HDMI to composite adapter. My N7 works just fine from slimport to HDMI to the TV, but doesn't work when I add the HDMI to composite adapter. However, if I hook my cable box through HDMI to the composite adapter, all works well. So its something from that slimport out of the tablet to the other adapter. What I'm trying to do is get the display mirrored in my van for the kids and the van only has composite inputs. I'm at a loss.

Slimport connectivity issue

Hello XDA,
I have just purchased a HDMI slimport adapter to connect my nexus 5 to my LCD screen. But for some reason it is not showing anything. I wanted to know if the HDMI cable I am using is apt to connect the slimport to the TV set. This is the cable that I am using. I am also posting the link the slimport adapter that I purchased. Please help as soon as possible.
Thanks

Is it possible to connect 5x to hdmi mini laser beam projector?

Hello? I'm thinking of buying Sony's mini laser beam projector MP-CL1.
This device have widi and miracast for wireless and a hdmi port for wire connection.
As far as I know, 5x doesn't support miracast and I'm not sure about widi.
So I'm thinking of connecting 5x to the projector by hdmi port.
I do own a hdmi cable and am going buy usb c to hdmi adapter.
In theory, 5x usb c to hdmi adapter to cable to projector would be the way connect.
I just want to know has anyone tried connecting 5x to any hdmi devices like tv or projector?
Under Settings - Display - enabled "Wireless" in Cast - N5X connected to Chromecast's HDMI connection to the HDTV, playing MP4 video now. (EX rom)
I usually travel with the Chromecast and not bother with taking along an HDMI cable and more adapters/converters - and, USB powered - nano router with hotspot functionality for wireless network.
In addition to support for Chromecast, which is a given among Nexus/Android devices including N5 and N5X, N7, etc. - I can also confirm that N5X solidly support Miracast. I have an Android TV Box (has its own HDMI connection) with support for FireReceiver and Miracast -casting wirelessly now directly to HDTV, whatever is on the N5X screen and of course, pictures & videos ... presentations / slides should NOT be a problem. Depending on where OP is buying the Sony projector, I would take the N5X along to test it on the spot before buying/taking it home, unless familiar with it.

Has anyone tried a USB-C hub with the G8? What is supported?

Wondering if we have support for:
RJ-45 Ethernet jack
microsd/SD card readers
HDMI-Out
Extra USB-A ports
An example of the device is here: https://www.amazon.ca/VAVA-Adapter-...b&qid=1563056649&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1
They are advertised for macbook but USB-C is obviously universal so it works with computers and stuff, wondering what kind of support we have on G8 if anyone has one to test.
I thought of this use case, use the HDMI to send to a monitor, and 2 of the usb slots for keyboard and mouse.... turn the G8 into a little laptop. I might order one to try it, in theory it could work but I have my doubts.
I didn't try the video out, but mouse and keyboard work fine through mine.

cool thanks, the video isn't even as important because wifi screen sharing is a thing too
Everything is working on my LG G8s ThinQ like before on my LG V40 ThinQ, LG G7 ThinQ.
The only problem is power drop when you connect multiple devices.
I tried an HDMI screen (it shares your Android screen and hopefully, no lags like with WiFi Screen Sharing), Ethernet connection, Microsoft multimedia keyboard (integrated touchpad on the keyboard), Western Digital My Passport and SanDisk DualDrive.
PS: The only thing I still didn't tried is Netflix via HDMI to USB-C. On my Galaxy S8 I couldn't have the images but well the sound but on my V40 it worked so, I'm wondering if LG isn't implementing Something to make it work. I must ask my manager
I found an adapter...
I was searching for an HDMI to USB-C adapter and tried a UGreen 6-in-1 adapter. It works perfectly. You can hook up your phone charger to the adapter to charge your phone while outputting to the TV/Monitor. It also has 2 USB 3.0 ports and SD/MicroSD slots. I got it to use my AKG Lyra microphone on my phone while making video calls for better audio. I've hooked my TV AND microphone to my phone so I can mount my phone on a stand and use the back (much better) camera for my calls. I use the TV to monitor the video. It works great! Search Amazon for " UGREEN USB C Hub 6 in 1 Type C to HDMI 4K " to find (I paid $25US). (New to xda and haven't posted enough to post links)
Hope this helps!

Useful informations! I was thinking about one of those things, just to try out some kind of desktop mode when/IF it will be available on LG G8s, and a simple usb-c to hdmi seems to me too limiting as melvinmajor pointed out before (power drop).
