Hi,
I've been reading some about some root methods and found that things:
1. Lg G3 (D855) in my case, has a root counter
Check: 3845#*855# -> LG RCT-> show result
2. PurppleRoot permaroot can root the phone without tripping that flag.
3. The counter can reset if you flash stock with a.kdz file
Just want to verify the info I've found so just in case I wan to use the warrenty by LG or Ronlight in my case.
Is it safe (judging by warrenty issues) to root the phone?
As an Android developer I need to have rooted phone (!)
Thanks for the help
Yes.. Its safe.
Many android phones need a total reset to stock to go under the waranty radar. Its from my experience.

That's OK.. as long as if you would flash a stock FW, it will be OK..?
Yep! Flashed with flash tools and TOT method and confirm that flash counter is reset. AKA unroot with no trace!

So I managed to root my phone and disable knox through supersu. After that I froze it using titanium backup but I was wondering if it is safe to fully uninstall it ?
Thanks

Hi
Can you tell us how you gained root access? My device was rooted in 4.1.2 version and after installing 4.3, I started getting error "Unauthorized access to a secured area has been blocked. Tap to learn more." If I use SuperU (which was installed during 4.1.2), it asks me to manually re-root.
I tried going through steps mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991 but didnt work.
Can you give link to the software and mention the steps to remove Knox or regain root access?
Help would be appreciated.

I used method one from that thread. The CF auto root method. Just remember to update supersu afterwards. It'll ask you if you want to disable knox when you open it up after updating.

Perfect!! it worked for me in less than 13sec!!
At first, device took some time to recognise the network, so I was a bit afraid but after 2-3 mins, i could make calls.
I had to install SuperSU separately, and Just as Florad77 mentioned, it disabled KNOX.
Thanks a lot to both of you...

True, my bad, but with freegee and the recovery change you can install a prerooted rom (stock based or no)

I haven't tried rooting a 10h, but take a look at this tool, which worked like a charm on my Korean F180S. As far as I can understand the way it works, I see no reason for it NOT to work on a 10h, or any particular version of the ROM. It uses adb to push busybox, su and superuser to your phone. (BTW, I just realized I never thanked @fiddy619 for this tool. Oh well, better late than never... )

OK, so you need to root the phone first to begin with, in order to use FreGee, in order to install a custom recovery, in order to then install a pre-rooted ROM. Umm... I think I need a drink to process that...
Framaroot is working on 10h.

Thanks, I tried before ZV9-ZVB, but perhaps I did something wrong, however I used framaroot as guys suggested here and it works
CF-Auto-Root is now available from the repo - http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
Before flashing, make sure you have enabled "OEM unlock" from "Developer Settings" !
Note that CFAR's display code isn't yet compatible with the S7, as such, there is no output on screen. This means that after flashing with ODIN, the device will only show you the S7 logo, and it seems like nothing happens. Just leave the device alone for 5 minutes. It'll reboot a few times, then boot into Android, but now you have root.
If it still doesn't do anything after 5 minutes, something has gone wrong, and you should probably reflash your stock boot.img and recovery.img.
Great work! Thank you.
Any opinion about if it would work with G935/Exynos Edge?
Sry! Didn't see your tweet!

if we already have root with SuperSU 2.68, is it necessary to flash this? thanks

This will not work on G930A.
@Chainfire
Is dm-verity disabled when you flash CF-Auto-Root? Can I make system modifications like CSC feature expert?
How will this not wipe your phone if it includes unlocking the bootloader...also will this work on the W8 Canadian variant?
Echt weer een super prestatie van je @Chainfire !
Tomorrow my S7 will arrive and of course I need root to restore Titanium Backups of my old S5 (only data, not the progs).
Just to be sure, rooting with CF-Autoroot will not trip my Knox counter right ?

Sorry dude, must have overlooked it somehow in my anxiousness to receive my S7 tomorrow.
Thanks!
Does this leave stock recovery or TWRP?
you'll have to flash this back. once autoroot is done there is no need in leaving the boot and recovery img from chainfire on your phone.
get your hands on the corresponding boot and recovery images for your phone and flash them back after you are done.
knox will be tripped anyway, so you may also flash twrp or anything else.

You have to unlock the bootloader too. Unblocking the bootloader will wipe your device.
As a rule of thumb, I always unlock bootloader on day one of purchasing my devices. (mostly Nexus or OP so far). This way you avoid potentially losing data.
Or u can download systemless xposed which will allow to turn on and off to use Android pay

root (access) is obtained via apps like SuperSU
xposed has nothing to do with root access - it is an additional framework allowing for low level modifications (like amplify, etc)
unlocking bootloader is always the first step, from there you can flash supersu (which is NOT just an APK file).
there's a number of threads about it that can explain it better than i.

One more question : is the warrantly lost after rooting ?
Hey everyone,
I feel like I've looked EVERYWHERE and tried EVERY app and computer program to root my device. Is there anyway to root a LG G4 VS986 2BA at this time? If not is there some way I can degrade my software in order to do it? Or, am I stuck with this lousy phone the way it is?
Thanks everyone!

You can only root a VS986 after downgrading it to Marshmallow/13B.

"vs986 UsU"
I tried to root stock mm with Update-superSU.zip and twrp but no luck. you can flash the stock noget rom but I suggest deleting the modem.bin file in the zip file because you will boot loop. But if you do this you won't be able to make calls but you can use data this is still a work in progress
Here is the current active steadfasterX LG G4 UsU Unlocking thread for anyone interested in following it:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/unlock-unlock-lg-g4-device-usu-t3760451
I don't think I've seen any reports of VS986s working 100% after UsU unlock, so if you rely on your VS986 exclusively, you might want to do some research first.

By "Unlock" you mean (network) carrier branded phones correct?
So you MUST downgrade from 2BA to 13B to root? Via the LGUP / flashing a .kdz correct? The 1an stock firmware is compatable 100% the way it is? And then you root from there?
What is this magisk?
