Hi guys,
Please check out this pic:
When not in fullscreen mode I always get these screen-errors on youtube videos.....changing to fullscreen cures it, but what' s the reason for that? Any ideas welcome...
G pad 8.3 unrooted and running on Kitkat 4.4.2
Thanks....
No ideas, anybody?
I have good news and bad news.
Good news is that you are not alone, I get the same gray tearing issue on some, not all, youtube videos when viewing via chrome.
Bad news is that I have no idea how to fix it or why it happens. I've noticed that some videos don't present this issue and other do.
Like you have been doing, I've simply been forcing those videos to full screen. Clearing the chrome and youtube app data to give the apps a "fresh start" doesn't seem to help.
My theory is that there is something slightly different about the encoding/compression of some videos and Chrome doesn't like it when they play embeded via HTML5. Strangely this does not happen on my phone.
I've also seen the gray tearing in the youtube app once, but can't reproduce the issue.

Moto X KK 4.4.4 (Verizon Stock Rooted)
Well, yeah....the only thing for certain that I can say is hat it is not browser dependant.....it happens in all the usual browsers, but as yet not in that yourtube app....
Doesn't bother too much, but it gets on my t*ts

My Nexus 7 keeps locking up whenever I try to play video through YouTube. I can start the Netflix app or mX Video Player because they failed to load. I also get a lot of Ghost clicks that will register a quick that is the far corner of the screen depending on where I tab down on screen.I have a video detailing the crash that I get after I start watching a video on YouTube that I will post to YouTube with my phone. its going to take me awhile to get the video loaded onto YouTube it soon as its done I will post it on this thread.
I would also like to add that I are currently have the latest updates on my Nexus 7 and I'm not rooted or running a custom ROM. I appreciate any and all help that I can get in trying to fix these issues.
Update: the problem persists in safe mode, I've also got a picture here of what the screen looks like before crash.

Mine is doing exactly that whenever I launch Camera, Youtube, Google Earth and Shadowgun. The weird strip is not that visible though, mine is just a green strip, but the tablet freezes and reboots. Really frustrating since I live in Brazil and there's no Nexus 7 support here...
Still looking but haven't found and possible sources of the issue. Seems to be something with 4.3 and video playing apps.
I really hope this is just a software issue...

Are you on build JSS15Q? There were tweaks not only to the touchscreen but also others, it may fix your issues. Check in "About tablet" for an update or adb sideload the OTA if you're impatient.
I'm on Jovy's stock rooted 4.3 and loving it. A few weeks ago I picked up an LG G Pad 8.3 tablet. It's awesome! But it won't play flash content, specifically when using Chrome. I've searched XDA and it seems Chrome is not compatible with Flash Player. But my S4 plays it just fine. Even in Chrome. I can go to the exact same site and click the same video link on both the S4 and the G Pad using Chrome browser. The S4 plays immediately where as the G Pad will give me an error message about needing Adobe Flash and that my device is not compatible with it. What is different with our S4? What is actually playing the video if Chrome is supposedly not compatible with flash? The G Pad is on stock rooted 4.2.2 and the S4 is stock rooted 4.3.

Whats different is the UA (User-Agent) String. The website might be seeing the S4 as a mobile device, and using a different website HTML file. Where the tablet is detected as normal browser. When you say you are watching flash on the S4, you are more than likely watching an HTML5 version or similiar, of the video. Chrome does NOT support flash. If you wanna stream videos to your tablet, I highly recommend Dolphin Browser. I use it on my TF300T and have zero issues watching my videos.

Aah, that makes sense. Appreciate the explanation. I'll give Dolphin a try, but I like keeping the same browser across all my devices and keeping them synced. May have to try discovering what is being read by each device and getting them to match some way. Thanks!

whatismybrowser.com will give you the UA String. But Dolphin has the ability to sync your stuff.. i think lol.
Hello e-980 users,
I'm trying to execute latest Netflix 3.6.1 app on my e-980, and I see split video. Has anyone else faced the same issue?
Could anyone of you please upload the apk who could view the video properly?
I'm on CM 11 and have not logged in to Google, so has no access to Play Store.
Thanks in advance!
I also have the issue. I am unaware if it is because of the app, or the update itself. It's been broken since 4.4.2. Currently running 4.4.4 and the issues still persists. I assume it is an issue with KK itself, as many people have reported similar issues in other apps.
Hopefully it'll be worked out soon. At least YouTube still works.
Try Netflix black. Search for it

Yes, I have installed Netflix 2.1.2 and it seems to be working fine.
video plays smooth using old netflix no matter default process are running in background. im using stock 1.8.1 since i cannot uninstall the preloaded app.
When I use the YouTube app, everything seems to be normal as long as I don't minimize the video (you know, drag it to the corner so it's in the lower right of the screen)
It lags like hell. I mean, I got a OnePlus 3 and a Nexus 7 and both do it with 60fps. The 5t does not, and I don't know why. When you drag it, it almost looks like you're dragging two videos at once (doing it very fast looks like there's a black scren behind it)
Does anyone else has this issue? It's no game breaker but it certainly buggs me. And yeah, uninstalled the updates, reinstalled them, deleted the cache of youtube, signed out and signed in...
Bootloader is unlocked, however not rooted. I'm still waiting for the official twrp release.
If anyone got any idea... I would really appreciate it.
I tried to use iYTPB but uninstalled it since it had not the features I liked (and it was laggy too - not the videos, the animations of the app itself)
Am I the only one...? :s
Did you ever fixed this? I'm having this problem on another device.
Well, having come from a long line of Nexus phones I really like the 5T and OOS except...
I can't get many simple videos to play back - either getting a 'MIME/Not Supported' or 'EXCEPTION' in the logs.
An example is the video at the top of this article: https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/pr...n-my-quiet-cul-de-sac-say-Auckland-neighbours
Can others play that video?
Now, installing VLC or otherwise is NOT a solution because many videos I'm struggling with are embedded so use the built in Chromium player.
Everything works fine on my 6.0.1 Nexus 5x but many (most?) don't work on my 8.0.0 (OOS 5.0.4) OP 5T.
If I can't play most of the media I find on the web the phone is practically useless and will be going back. This is a 1990's problem, not one we should be facing in 2018.
Thoughts? Insights? Comments?
As it happens https://oneplus.net/support/ticket/submit is broken too at the moment, nice one OP.
42 views and nobody has tested the link for me...
Open beta 4. Play just fine. No problem here.

I am interested in buying the 5T, among other phones... so I was intrigued by your post.
I tried this link on my home computer - and do you realize the video in question is a APPLE "mpeg.url" link? It could simply be the app your phone is dedicated to use is not equipped to understand URL's as links. Try installing a different browsers, and try to play it with each....and see what your results are.
I suspect the problem is the default app isn't equipped to understand those links. My Asus tablet TF700 had a similar issue until I realized it was the old version of "Chrome" that was installed on it that was having the problem... FireFox on the same Tablet didn't exhibit the same problem.
Thanks for the suggestions @Animal2017, I have tried a few browsers with the same result I'm afraid.
Since @tanpro260196 can play the videos with the stock (albeit beta) ROM and browser I think I'll flash back to fresh and new first and build from there. OnePlus tech support also advise they can play the video on a 5T (not sure of ROM version though) so there's hope.
Tried with mozilla Firefox and Chrome, video plays just fine. OB4
Okay, well I dirty-flashed OB4 and the problem is fixed.
I then decided to go back to 8.0 using a nandroid backup to see if I could diagnose further (an unnecessary step but for my interest). TWRP proceeded to bork my storage so I lost everything on /data and /sdcard including all my backups. Great.
Anyway, thanks for the help and replies.
