unroot, return to stock? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

So can someone tell me how to unroot and return to stock firmware? Ive run into problems with my phone and want to return it to stock and start fresh with a new root and such..
or does someone else have any recommendations?

Download stock firmware from thread in general and flash with Odin. Just don't try to flash older firmwares than what your device's firmware is

Have you used the xda search tool? There are detailed step by step guides you can use.

[Q] Need help with updating to gingerbread w/root

Hi i currently have stock rom but have it rooted. Can someone provide me with a link to update my phone to the new update w/root or let me know what I need to do? Thanks!
Also I am not sure if I am running ext or rfs can some tell me how to figure that out?
A great place to start learning about modding the Epic are the QBKing77 videos on youtube. Just search for them or check out the links to his videos in most of the OPs in the development section. There are a ton of custom roms to play with right now, as well as the stock EI22 Gingerbread rom that came out OTA.
Thanks as I said though I am already rooted but unsure if its ext 4 or RFS I need help figuring that out and then I think I can just odin it from their.
I wish to stay on stock.
Might I suggest taking a look at the MostlyStockROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339579
You can even go to the "old links" and choose to download the deodexed only first release which is Stock + doedexed + root. Or choose one of the newer releases which has the fixes/features you want.
If you want EI22 Fully Stock then I believe you will need to unroot your existing install and install the OWA. I haven't seen a stock ODIN method but may have missed it.
I see. How do I unroot my phone?
odin back to stock ec05.
ok so then how do I root my phone after going back to stock updating then what?
Or couldn't I just do a factory reset then update?

Once you odin back to stock ec05, it'll do the OTA update onto ei22. That's how I did my phone. Warning, once you odin back, you'll lose all your app and data.
I'm not worried about that I have titanium back up pro. their has got to be a easier way to do this though. Before All I had to do was Odin to the next update and that was it (eco5) now I have to odin back to stock remove root then update and then reroot...... thats a lot of work.
Is their a way to do this without un-rooting my phone?
Also can someone shoot me a link to a tutorial on going back to stock?
Also once root is removed I take it I would have to re root it. (this is ridiculous un root, update, reroot)
So what DO i do to re-root it?

you can just download the file and install it using CWM but i'm 0 for 2 with this method.

Follow the video that babystewie posted. I've used it twice, both succeeding with no issues what so ever. It will allow you to update to GB with root, but will give you a stock version of GB. If you're interested in rooting GB as well, check the video description and there's some more videos.
There are a lot of mostly stock roms or even just a cwm flashable ei22 in the development section. You'll keep root and won't have to go through using odin so many times.
what do you mean a stock version of gingerbread? also I already have clockwork if that helps does it mean i have ti do anything different if i want to keep root?
There really is no completely stock Gingerbread ROMs because we don't have the tar file for the Odin flash. There are several ROMs in the Development thread (where the ROMs are) that are mostly stock. You can simply flash one of those, and if you want the EI22 modem, you can flash the EC05 to EI22 modem updater found in the stickies in development. I recommend you start here:

Root OFFICIAL ICS? I'm sorta confused.

I know there's a thread about flashing v18f leaked root, then flash the new one.
but that thread is all confusing, since the guide involve root file, but then there's no root file,
then the root said to flash v20c kdz but then all there is system image :l
i'm a noob so ;9
is there anyway to root Official ICS at the time?
I know for sure you can have a rooted 20c if you go through the steps of the unbricking guide, and then flash the firmware through CWM. (Apparently you'll get a bootloop if you flash through CWM without having ever unbricked before). This also lets you keep CWM in case you want to flash something else or backup or something.
Try these instructions. Clear and they have a link to everything you need. I've used them and they worked perfectly. The best solution is probably still to follow cakemanofdoom's advice and unbrick and flash with CWM. That will allow you to change it again in the future if you want. I've gone through the unbricking process too and it's pretty easy.

I need help unrooting!

I am using a samsung galaxy s3 rooted. I noticed about a week ago that it said I was not rooted. So when I try to unroot Odin tells me Fail.
Can anyone help me, i would like to start from the very beginning.
any help?
Simply Put, easiest way to unroot is flash Current Firmware via Odin.
You're probably trying to flash older firmware, flash latest firmware as stated by Perseus71
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
The easiest way:
1 supplied with android-Market "SuperSU"
2 go to the settings the program's
3 to find the item "the totally remove Root"

Yea , I forgot to mention that. I am currently flashing 4.3 again. To reroot just root with 4.3 again?
Yes Reroot with 4.3
To unroot I flash same firmware with odin

Return To Stock

I have unlocked my bootloader, installed a TWRP, and flashed a custom ROM. Everything is working fine, but I just want to know how to return to stock if I wanted to. Is it just as simple as flashing the latest OTA? Do I have to re-lock my bootloader?
Thanks!
You can easily return firmware and/or recovery to stock by flashing, but currently there is no way to relock the bootloader.

I'm sort of a noob when it comes to this stuff. I usually just follow guides to get what I'm looking for.
So would I just download the latest OTA and flash that? Can someone share some simple instructions on how this is done?
Thanks!
When you want to flash back to stock from custom, are the steps the following?
1)Download stock rom from asus
2)Format phone
3)Flash stock ROM from custom recovery?
The reason I ask is because there is a guide that says you need to edit the stock rom when flashing from custom rom/recovery.. Link to his guide here: GUIDE FOR FULL ROM

Need help clearing up this firmware nightmare

Okay so i've rooted and unlocked on 5.1.1, next step was to flash CPD1 then re-root and re-unlock bootloader. Now I want my end result to be playing with 7.1 roms, but there are a few different ones I want to try but each requires a different firmware version from CPD1. I can't find any of these firmwares here on XDA that claim to be safe to flash with Odin and re-unlock, only place I'm seeing it is Sammobile.
Question is are these other (newer) firmwares safe to flash in Odin? Can I unlock them with the same method? Is there a better way to do it so I don't have to go through that horrible unlock method with every different firmware version I use so that i can try these ROMs out?
