Bluetooth audio stops working after 20min - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, i hope someone can help to solve this issue i have with my firetv.
I sideloaded the settings.apk and i can pair my bluetooth tracks air with it. It works fine for about 20min and then the audio starts cracking and after some time it just goes off.
I can close the connection at the settings.apk and pair it again and it will work again for sometime. I dont know if the problem is with my headphone which works fine with my pc or the firetv. Any help?
Thanks
Edit: it would help if someone says his bluetooth headphone works without any issue. Cause then i would know that it is possible somehow.

Hi, I'm afraid I can't help you but I can confirm I had the same problem!
Thought it was just a once off until I saw your post. I have it paird to my BOSE Soundock but yes, the sound starting breaking up after about 20 minutes.

Thanks for your report. So i guess the problem is the firetv. I hope it's fixable with some tweaking or settings.

Just a thought, haven't had a chance to test but because it seems it happen after a period of time could be the screensaver trying to activate on Fire TV. Or I'm playing music through XBMC, I have it set to quit after 15 minutes....

I don't think that's it. It happens outside of xbmc and once i was able to watch a full 50min episode without losing the audio.
I'm not bold enough to test it but i think maybe freezing the kftv launcher can help? I read some bluetooth controllers and keyboards works this way. But i'm afraid to brick my firetv for something i can live with it. And i'm outside USA, so if i brick it, it's a total loss.

I have the same issue. My bluetooth speaker cuts out after 20 minutes while streaming audio from fire tv. At that point, the only way to get it to work again is to reset the fire tv box. For now, I just do a manual reset.

I have a sony car stereo and just tried the bluetooth streaming and it is not great, keeps breaking up etc... Just wondered if anybody else is having similar problems or is they any settings I can change or is it just my stereo ??
Thanks

Try unpairing and reparing. On the G1 (never happened on desire yet) sometimes you get like a "faulty" connection which breaks up all the time. Am using Bluetooth earphones but the concept is the same.

Did that fix it for you? Because i have the same problem with my JVC deck ans it didn't fix a thing. This phone works as well as my Fuse/Raphael does from outside the car. 10 feet away.
I am so glad im still in my return window. This phone is really nice under first impression.. but all motorolas crapware, locked bootloader, etc, nulls all the awe put of this phone. I think im giving up on Android for my next contract term. Sigh

[Q] {SOLVED} Music stops playing... any ideas?

Greetings to whomever is listening out there. Im running the GWiz ROM (not sure if it makes a difference) and every time i play music through both my bluetooth stereo headset and my other bluetooth earpiece, the song stops after 30 seconds / 1 minute or so. However, it does play fine through my bathroom bluetooth speaker. Doesnt matter if i am streaming or playing local and ive tried using different music apps. I searched around and couldnt find any answers so i thought to consult the hive. Thanks to any who help.....
does it happen with the stock rom?Have u tried testing it with stock rom?
If it does not make the same kind of behavior then it is the fault of the rom.
if the bluetooth device still shows this kinda behavior then maybe it is not compatible.
Try switching roms and exploring the Bluetooth settings

Thanks for the reply Soul, I believe I have found the problem: My bathroom radio is trying to steal the Bluetooth connection!! If I watch the Bluetooth devices screen, when playing is interrupted I can see the other radio trying to connect and quickly disconnecting. My solution for the time being is to unplug the bathroom radio. I see there are some apps to lock Bluetooth connection and I may pursue those.... any suggestions are appreciated.
I will leave this up in case it helps others..... thanks again Soul......
Sorry for the late reply,
I am not sure what a bathroom radio is, so I was just tryin to gather some info(since it is not available in our country). So does this bathroom radio of yours work on Bluetooth?
before recomending you to use some apps, I would like you to try a small experiment.
As soon as you pair your Bluetooth stereo with your device try switching the discoverable settings to off and see if the interference is still there..

Greetings Soul Reaper and thanks again for your reply. I have an electronic device in my bathroom area that provides music while I shower. It also has Bluetooth capabilities. I tried the settings that you suggested but to no avail. This device has stolen my bluetooth before when I was downstairs at the bus stop outside! I suppose I shall have to live with it for now.

[Q] Does the amazon fire tv work with bluetooth headphones?

I want to know if its possible to pair some bluetooth headphones with the fire tv since it does have bluetooth? I would be nice to be able to watch a movie using bluetooth headphones with the unit. Only makes sense that this should be a feature.

Yes if you install the Android Settings.apk you can make the FireTV pair with bluetooth audio devices. However with both devices I tried, a headset and a speaker, there's horrendous audio lag that makes it basically unusable. I guess I'll just wait for official support from Amazon.

Dang that sucks, this thing really needs a be update now because so far it's missing a lot of things.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Have you used the audio offset feature to correct the lag ? I had to use it to correct the lag while using my Ouya and a Bluetooth enabled powered PA speaker.

There's a good chance the next update will come June 18th when Amazon reveals their smartphone. I would expect the Fire TV will need to be updated in order to interact with the phone.

It's not a constant lag on the firetv, lag increases the longer you play something.
All you need to do is connect a USB Bluetooth receiver that often comes with the headphones and pair it with that directly. Get a multi-USB hub so you can connect various other things to it also. I'm using everything with the USB port like air mouses etc. and all work perfectly and it doesn't require any settings or rooting.
where to get a working settings.apk ?
I used settings.apk to pair my headphones. Music plays just fine. However playing an .mkv video thru XBMC-Kodi did not work at all. I just got really loud static -- I guess there was a problem with the dts audio. Knowing there was an audio lag anyway, I didn't mess with the XBMC setting to downmix.
Cross posting from the bigger thread...
I successfully paired my bluetooth headset using settings.apk method - thanks!
However - Bluetooth only puts audio out of my headset for SIDELOADED apps - but not apps from FireTV's app sources, i.e. NETFLIX. (I even confirmed by installing NETFLIX and sideloading NETFLIX - audio comes out differently ...)
Does anyone else experience this?

Why is Bluetooth working so well wire AFTV now? Not complaining, just wondering.

Amazon Fire controller 2 with Nvidia Shield TV?

Is this possible? Seems it was previously but I have had no luck so far. Its a Bluetooth controller and should in theory, have no problems, yet its not.
Could this be something resolved in Marshmallow? Or is it a non starter altogether?
Just want some multiplayer action, have a shield controller already and had a fire TV 4k with pad as well.
Thanks in advance
Well that was easy. Turns out the fire controller 2 is WiFi and not Bluetooth. It connects like a charm as a Shield accessory and plays games as it should.
So if anyone, like me reads this and has been struggling like a fool (that was me the past hour) to connect it, its WIFI not Bluetooth. Connect this and a FireTV 2 remote as a shield accessory and away you go.
Edit - voice search also works, which I had seen people stating you most it, or couldn't pair the AFTV voice remote with the Shield TV because of it. Just press and hold and works as it does on the fire box.

Thats actually pretty dope to learn! i havent played with a fire tv controller 2 yet but just seeing the images online it looks like a high quality, sturdy controller. Would be interesting to see how well it performs, and the fact that it works natively with the shield is even more interesting and better. wonder if nvidia just updated the firmware to allow it to work or if they just so happen to use the same protocols?
couple of questions: is the button layout the same? does headphone jack work as well?

The headphone jack doesn't work. Just tried with Borderlands and it works, though with some lag on the Shield controller but not the Fire 2 controller.
Every other button functions perfectly though, including clicking in the anologues. As a second player pad, and with the useful voice search function, its pretty cool that I got it connected. Could not find any help online at all.

Thats awesome man. Thanks for the heads up! Would love to see anyone else chime in to confirm before i consider the plunge on a controller, but its always nice to have another type of gamepad available. Wonder if latency is the same, but I assume since its wifi, it shoudl be at least as good as the shield controller.
Do you know if this works with a pc as well? (via usb of course)

Won't work on PC, not with USB anyway as its not there lol. Surprised me too.
Latency seems on par with stock controller. Been playing Fifa 16 UT for a while and won every game, so no issues with the pad.
I too would like others to test this as I couldn't get any help online and cane across it by chance.
has anyone tried the new apple r emoe does it work?
how do you past the settings menu on the fifq 16 android on the shiled. do you need mouse input?
My problem is that once it connects I lose all audio.
The headphone Jack not working is a real bummer too.
Fifa 16 UT does this game even work? i cant get past main menu
Has anyone tested it on the new 6.0 Marshmallow build?

I managed to connect the Fire TV game controller on StockRestyle Marshmallow, but I cannot get the Fire TV 4K remote to work.
Which version of the Shield TV firmware are you using?
Do you need to press a specific button on the Fire TV remote? I tried Home and the OK buttons (I indeed tried all of them), removing the batteries without any success.
EDIT: I tried a second Fire TV 4K, first try: press Home -> success Thanks

If that would be working, including the voice search function, that would be great because shield game controllers aren't working wireless on full Android.

I'm having major problems connecting my Amazon Controller 2 to my Shield K1 Tablet.
I go to the app and open it up. The 3 or 4 lights flash on the controller and then solidify. At which point the mouse cursor appears and I can move it around and - if I press home, the app closes.
But at that stage the controller starts searching again, the lights flash.
I've tried holding down the home button, I've tried putting the batteries in only once the apps open. No luck.
The controller works beautfully with my amazon fire tv box.
Anyone want to give me step by step instructions?

Bluetooth Car Sync Issue

Is anyone else having issues syncing to your car? Mine connects for 5 seconds and then flashes phone not detected on my phone screen and disconnects. I am running the deluxe standard model, not the special edition. I have checked the easy stuff like making sure Bluetooth is enabled and successful pairing. I can connect to Bluetooth speakers no problem. My Google music app also froze and could not be recovered by powering off or closing apps. I had to uninstall and reinstall. Let me know if anyone has had a similar issue and hire or if you fixed it.
I listen to music in my car via A2DP/BT Audio & have no issues with either listening, or controlling (fwd, rewind, etc...) music apps like VLC via the car controls.
no problem pairing with my car, mobile, music etc etc.

2 ppl confirmed properly working BT;
1: make sure you're on the latest firmware
2: close any other apps which might be using BT (do you have other BT devices on you? They might be conflicting)
3: make sure your music app is whitelisted in battery optimization options
4: try other music apps, like VLC
5: choose balanced power management
6: factory reset & try BT audio as the 1st thing after a fresh boot; this should help you isolate the issue.

I have the same issue sometimes. My Honda Accord had no issues pairing to my Note 7, and connected to it perfectly every time. The car also initially paired quickly to the ZF3D, but when I get in the car I have to manually select the car in the Bluetooth menu. If I try waiting, it will either never connect, or flash like yours. connect for a second then lose connection.
either way, manually selecting it makes the phone keep its connection throughout the entire drive.
Hope it helps!

Thanks all, I tried all of the tips above to no effect. Manually selecting still drops within 5 seconds. Tonight I will try it in a different car to rule out a compatibility issue with mine. I aIso downloaded VLC and made sure everything was white listed. Phone reset had the same issue with no apps installed. My old Note 4 pairs just fine and stays connected. The Buick Bluetooth (2012) system isn't the most up to date either and has limited capability (phone only, no music) so it may be a car issue.
Thanks,

I am finding that auto connecting to BT in the car and on my Gear S3 is hit and miss, however i have had no issues when doing it manually, but it is a pain in the ass. hopefully ASUS will fix this when they release the nougat update!
My Zenfone 3 will pair with the car and a number comes up that I have to type into the phone but the keypad flashes up on the phone for 1 second and then disappears too quickly to enter it. I have tryed it about 10 times and always the same result. Anyone have any idears on how to fix it.
