Having searched the threads and read as much as I can (why do people hijack one thread for something totally unrelated?) but nothing seems to work.
Every time I reboot my tablet I have no wireless passwords and have to re-enter them again.
This has happened since I rooted my tablet. I am on stock rom.
Does anyone have any solutions without wandering off topic?

Hi!
I know there are plenty of threads about the wifi on this phone, I've read every one of them, posted in many places and have had no good outcome.
Here is my (lengthy) story.
Had annoying wifi bugs on stock 4.1.2, seemingly general lack of interest from the phone in connecting to wifi, but would generally connect after a reboot of both modem+phone+ disabling PSM (even then, not always )
6 months on stock go by, thought flashing a custom rom would fix everything and all would be well again, so I flashed PA.
An even more annoying bug showed up,
Turn wifi on > doesn't automatically connect, so I manually go to the wifi settings page and try connecting.
Before trying to connect - Full signal.
While trying to connect - Goes down to one bar while connecting > fails > then goes back to full signal.
Does occasionally connect, but it's rare. Rebooting both phone and the modem does nothing at all, seems to have a mood of it's own.
It's not just my wifi, but wifi at college too, other devices connect to the same access point just fine.
What would fix this? Will pretty much try most things now,I tried flashing NEAK too.
I don't have a data plan either, so my phone is basically useless without wifi, I've resigned to using my laptop all the time.
Thank you for reading this so far, I'd be thankful for ANY advice.
TL;DR :- Annoying wfi bug, tried every 'solution' I've heard of, nothing worked, never buying a Samsung again :crying:
(Attached images of the phenomenon)
UPDATE:- Just like stock, it will only connect if I am a foot away from the router, irrespective of how much signal I have. Even if I have a full signal elsewhere, it won't connect

We meet again!
Like mentioned in the post, the only reason I flashed an aosp based ROM was in the desperate hope it'd rid the phone of its WiFi problem.
Thought a custom ROM would do what Samsung refuses to do.
Hope someone has a valid solution for this.

Anyone?
I forgot I already had the range issue for quite a while, even on stock.
I had tried everything, including static IP, wps, and whatever else was stated to work.
Does anyone know of a working solution to this? Is this a hardware/software issue?

Has anyone else experience their WIFI connection almost completely stop working? For the last few days either I get no connectivity at all or very slow, but every now and then for a few minutes it will run at normal speeds.
I'm stock, rooted, no custom recovery or 2nd bootloader. I've rebooted the kindle and my router multiple times. I've done a full factory reset on the Kindle. None of that helped. There's 3 laptops, 2 other tablets, and 2 phone all running fine on the WIFI so I don't think it's the router.
If anyone has any suggestions. I'd appreciate it.
Have you done any other modifications other than rooting?

I've got the google services installed to get the Play Store working, and installed NOVA launcher. I think that's all.
Well, I thought it may be something with the drivers gone funny, so I finally got around to getting 2nd bootloader and recovery going. I tried CM10, I tried Hashcode's stock ROM, and I tried the full restore from the KFHD First Aide tool. All the same results. I'll get intermittent bursts of full speed, but for the most part every web page, market request or attempt to stream something times out.
When I look at the WIFI settings in the kindle, it pretty consistently says 39Mb link speed. My phone is connecting at 26Mps, but everything works no problem as do all the other devices.
I know I'm heading into O/T territory, but does anyone know what Router Settings to check for that may be limiting just one device? Failing that I'm going to have to return to stock and see if I can get some help from Amazon.
Thanks in advance!
I'm also having some wifi issues like you. Mine's 8.4.3, rooted, with google play store and a few other things. Like you, all my wireless settings seem to be ok, several other devices use the wifi without any problems. And like you, I've had CM 10.1 installed in the past and I'm back on the stock Amazon rom.
One hunch that I had yesterday was the following: I bought a cover for my Kindle that can cover the back and front of the kindle. When I use it normally, I fold the front cover around to the back of the device, meaning there's a double cover on the back when in use. I thought to myself, maybe the cover is blocking the wifi signal or something... I then tried changing the cover to "kickstand" mode, so that it wasn't against the back of the device. It seemed to help, but I still need to do more testing.
If you have a cover then maybe try taking it off and testing the wifi. If not then I'm out of ideas, but I'm not sure how it could be a software problem, since you've tried different ROMs with the same results.
Apparently, after a quick google search, it looks like a lot of people are having wifi problems with the kindle fire HD. Perhaps the following thread will help: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210002. It mentions changing some router settings. I'll try it on mine when I get home.
Make sure that QoS is disabled on your router.

Thanks for the suggestions. No help unfortunately.
I need to get somewhere I can try connecting to a different router. If that's still unusable, I think it's time for the service call.
Hi!
I know google doesn't want to implement this feature into Android, but there are a lot of patched wpa-supplicant around that work on other phones. Is there one for our phone? Has anybody managed to get this working? I looked all over but wasn't able to find a solution for HTC One X.
Thanks!

Just by searching, I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1718053
just by searching, i found this and many other things for other phones but nothing seems to work on hox, at least for me, that's why i asked here. there is surprisingly little discussion about this issue for our phone, so i thought maybe someone managed to get it working some way or the other. thanks anyway!

Well I tested it yesterday on my HOX, and I successfully connected my HOX to the ad-hoc network. The add-hoc network even shows up in the available network list on my HOX.
Edit: I created the add-hoc network on a Macbook Pro running a Windows 8.1 bootcamp.
well, ad-hoc networks, created e.g. with an iphone or some other phone, certainly don't show up in wifi settings, but this is usual android behaviour as far as i know. they show up in wifi manager app, but i can't connect to them, even with static ip, as it's described in some possible solutions like the one you posted before.
well, my sailing trip, where i need such access, because during sailing we use an old windows mobile samsung omnia as a 3g wifi router, is unfortunately slowly coming to an end, and back home i won't be having this problem anymore .
thanks for your help!
Ok, So this has been happening for a while. I kept looking up for a fix, and i finally foudn this issue ticket open that looks like others having the same issue, and it appears to be this specific phone.
Is anyone else having this problem and is there an easier way to solve it than resetting the device?
Goggle issue 58230
I will copy the first post, as it pretty much mirrors my experience.
My wifi is always on (turned on the option for keeping it on even when the phone is idle). With older versions (4.2.2 and older), when I arrived at home, the phone automatically was connected to my home wifi.
But when 4.3, sometimes it doesn´t connect until I enter the wifi menu.

My issue extends to work as i work at a school, with many different WAP's, and this occurs sometimes when switching WAP's as well.
Thanks
Oh common, i cant be the ONLY one on here with this issue.

Lyian, I have the same issue as well, on google stock rom as well as all the modded roms, whether 4.3, or 4.4. I may have to junk my (otherwise perfect) phone just for this. I don't see any solutions anywhere.
(Using Sprint version of Galaxy Nexus)
Have poked around and searched the forums (and Google) for a fix or workaround for the Tab S 8.4 "forgetting" the wifi login password each time upon reboot/disconnect.
More of an annoyance than problem really. Rooted only with stock ROM. Ideas?
Thanks all.

You really need to poke a little harder. .....
Threads opened and many many posts on the subject.
Either:
1. mod your build.prop yourself
2. Flash a ROM with fix cooked in
3. Flash my kernel

I had some trouble locating the actual fix too.
Found this through google though, hope it helps: http://gs5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/b...alaxy-s5-with-these-build-prop-hacks-0156850/
