Greetings,
This phone shut down, came back up in a recovery screen, and was unable to access the OS again. I am able to advance to the TWRP screen, but am unable to do anything else. I can only use the internal storage if no micro SD card is in place. If I place a micro SD card in, I am then unable to access the internal storage. When I connect to my PC, I am able to access the internal storage by mounting it through TWRP. The phone info that appears in the initial screen is as follows:
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
TC2 PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.31.0013
RADIO-0.10.40f.00.24_2
OpenDSP-v3.2.0221.0918
eMMC-boot
HBOOT
Anything I try results in the following messages:
E: unable to mount '/cache'
E: unable to mount '/data'
TWRP v2.4.1.0 is the custom recovery that's installed.
Although I have tried fastboot commands and Hassoon's, I am sure I am doing something wrong. Please help!
You may have done this but I'll give it a go.
Go to TWRP, wipe system three times, wipe cache three times, Factory Reset three times. Mount external storage (if it isn't already) and install a downloaded ROM. Seems to me that your fstab or grub is foobarred

Whilst attempting to install MIUI 1.14 I got an error that the zip was invalid or something along those lines. I then rebooted but the Desire got stuck in a boot loop. After wiping the phone and formatting the SD card it booted fine, however the SD card is still not recognised, ADB doesn't work and the USB debugging icon keeps coming up as though it keeps getting reconnected. When I try to mount it in recovery, I get:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0 (no such file or directory)
and
E:Can't mount SDCARD:/nandroid/
Any help much appreciated.
Oh, and the memory card works fine on an old Hero I have lying around so the problem isn't there. Is there anyway I can restore it to stock over USB? It boots fine and is recognised in fastboot, as well as showing up in device manager.

forget the hero
the problem IS the sdcard if recovery cannot mount it as well as the rom
these are two seperate os's
if the zip file was not intact then it would point to there being sdcard corruption and the bootloop will also happen due to faulty SD
If i were you i would put it in a card reader and use h2testw to check the integrity of the card
if that is successful then format the card from the device itself in settings>sdcard & storage
Thanks for the advice. I don't currently have a micro SD card reader (only an SD card one), although I can get one tomorrow fairly easily.
However, given I formatted the card from the Hero's recovery would it not make more sense to go straight to a new SD card? I might be able to borrow one to confirm, regardless. Oh, and how is the ADB issue likely to tie into all of this?
Hello all,
i have been around on the site for a while reading, learning, and rooting my DInc. I have SkyRaider 3.5 w/ stock kernal. Currently running CWM 2.5.0.5. I was going to dip into the realm of setting CPU settings for different functions. I DLed SetCPU from the market and installed. i figured this would be a good time to do a backup through CWM in case i eff something up. after the backup completed, i selected the "reboot system now"
Upon rebooting, it loaded into my lock screen with the stock background and clock, not the ones i had before the backup process. when i did the slide unlock, it would just go to an all white screen with the htc green logo in the middle, and all my buttons but the power button were useless. strange i thought.....so i pulled the battery and proceeded into the CWM again to restore to a previous backup. got into CWM just fine, but now i had 5 message lines at the bottom of the CWM screen:
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(file exists)
E:Cant mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(File exists)
E:Cant mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(File exists)
Then, i go into the backup and restore option, and select restore, it kicks me back to the main menu with 5 more messages:
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/bloc
k/mmcblk1)
(No such file or directory)
E:Cant mount /sdcard
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(File exists)
E:Cant mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(File exists)
I've tried doing a wipe data/factory reset, and it gives me a bunch of mounting errors and basically skips all format, then kicks me back to main menu in less than 3 seconds.
I've done a fair amount of research for this and can't find anything related to the DInc for this issue. Seen it on a few other devices (earlier droids) but not sure how much that info pertains to this device.
unfortunately i do not have a micro-sd card reader on my computer, so i have not tried re-flashing my ROM since i do not have a ROM on my SD card, not sure if it would be of any use since it sounds like my SD card is not mounting properly.
I will probably go out and buy a universal card reader (should come in handy) as well as a second SD card in case it happens to be the SD card that crapped out.
I figured I'd get this up here anyways to see if anyone can help.
Thanks so much for any advise or fixes you may be able to offer!

update
well, i managed to do a couple hboot updates and basically return my phone to the way it was when i got it from the store. i have no idea what caused it, but the original sd card still works, albeit reformatted, and the phone is functioning perfectly so far. I'm still curious to see if anyone had any ideas about what happened. sorry i can be of service to troubleshoot since i fixed it (the long way). my phone is too vital and i have travel coming up.
Thanks,
Trey
When I tethered my incredible to my pc I would get errors. I've had to actually run defrag on my sd card. I actually have several Micro sd readers but I was lazy and did this after tethering to my pc. Seems to have fixed the problem
So, I decided to try to go back to root last night, with the help of Preludedrew. rooted using unrevoked3 and updated to CWM 3. when it was all finished, it left me in CWM recovery and i had new E: errors:
E:Can't mount /dev/recovery/log
E:Can't open /dev/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /dev/recovery/last log ?
E:Can't open /dev/recovery/last log
when i would try to mount cache or sdcard, it would still fail, and when trying to load zip from sdcard, it would error in trying to mount sdcard.
with some more help from drew, we tried using adb shell to mount/access some partitions, and the mmcblk0p2 (i think) could not be found on the device.
thankfully the phone still booted this time, but i went into the phone settings under SD & storage...and the sdcard was there showing my 15GB of total/available space.
But....under the internal phone storage section, it said "unavailable" for both total space and available space.
so the only thing we could somewhat deduce, is that the internal phone memory has crapped out, thus when i RUU'd (?) back to stock, it could not find my phone internal storage so it just reassigned my sdcard to the 0p1 block, and where the sdcard should be in the 0p2 block there is nothing. Hence why cwm cant find anything related to my sdcard since its looking in the 0p2 block.
so now that i'm back to stock, i'll take it to the verizon store today and see what they'll do about it since the internal memory seems to be crap. i have insurance, so i dont think it will be a problem getting a new phone, unless they want to try to replace the internal memory, which is fine with me.
unless anyone has any other ideas?
sorry for the noobish verbage, i'm trying to remember what i all did at 1230 last night.
Thanks,
sorry for the quick reply, but i just had the idea to try mounting my device as disk storage, since it should come up as 2 drives (internal phone and sdcard) on my computer
both drives show up under my computer, sdcard access is fine, but when i try to access the other drive, i get "please insert a disk into drive G:"
and when i switch back to charge only, it will only say "preparing sd storage" and doesnt do "preparing phone storage" like i thought i remember it doing when it was still good.
I guess just another reaffirmation that the storage space is crap.
I encrypted the device, then decided I wanted it off. I factory reset the phone to remove it and now It's stuck at the Google screen and won't boot.
I tried going into recovery (TWRP) to restore a previous backup but none of my backups are listed. Looked in the file manager and the SD card was blank. I looked in the Mount menu and sure enough, it was unmounted. I tried mounting it, but nothing happens when I touch it. I can't mount the data or SD Card. I can mount and unmount the system and cache just fine though.
The log for TWRP says "E:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)"
The galaxy nexus toolkit does not recognize the device when using "fastboot devices" or "adb devices" commands.
Anyone have this problem before or know anything that might fix this?
Edit: got it booting again. if anyone's wondering, I used this: http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/for...how-return-stock-using-odin-vzw-lte-only.html
Hi there,
I was about to flash a new rom on my Dinc, and right after I formatted /system, the sdcard became unable to mount and now I can't access the .zip for the new rom. I've tried flashing 3 versions of CWM as well as one of TWRP but none of them can access my SD card. I also reformatted it in my PC with no success. I currently don't have any operating system on it so all I can work with is hboot and recovery.
Can anyone help me fix this?

Did you format it fat32 with the pc? If the cards fine (can be used by pc and fat32) and recovery and hboot still cant find it, then id venture to say the sdcard slot is damaged or went out.
Using adb in recovery, you should be able to push a rom file to emmc and flash it from there.

I did format it FAT32, and the SD card is definitely fine. I don't think that the slot is the problem either because other things won't mount either.
Actually the only thing I can mount in recovery is /system, everything else is inaccessible. It was having mounting problems before which is why I decided to flash it with a new rom (was running Jellybean very poorly). I also tried flashing the original recovery, doing "clear storage" that way, and reflashing with CWM but it had no effect. During the storage wipe it said that /datadata doesn't even exist. It also shows errors that it can't mount the files /dev/block/mmcblk01 and /dev/blk/mmcblk0p2
This is what the log shows when I did the CLEAR STORAGE using the stock recovery
Restore factory NV setting...
Formatting DATA:...
E: format_root_device: can't find mtd partition "datadata"
Formatting EMMC:...
Formatting CACHE:...
Wipe ALL failed.
E:Can't mount DATADATA:recovery/log
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1)
(No such file or directory)
The same thing happened to me long back. What I did was that I cleared data, cache, and dalvik cache... Worked for me... You can try but i wont take any responsibility

Hello friends, i hope you can help me because i ****ed up real bad today... I was in cwm recovery, and press some button that said something like "format for rom" or something like that... Now i dont have any SO installed, no rom on my phone, and it says i have 0mb avalaible. So i flashed the TWRP recovery because im more familiar with it, i have tried sideload but get this error con the cmd window after it gets to 100% * failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)' *
On the phone i have: E: No valid storage partitions.
Any help please? Already tried adb push rom.zip /data or /sdcard but since i have 0mb for storage on my phone i think any of that will work. I can flash recoverys, but cant move any rom to my phone to flash Help please
Ok it seems that i was able to push the rom.zip to my /system but when i try to flash it, it says:
E: Unable to mount /data
E: Unable to find storage partition to mount to usb

What carrier are you on?
How does that matter? The phone was originally at&t. I need to format my storage or my /data or something to be able to install the rom
