Sleep as Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.sleep) has an Android Wear component that detects your movement. It does work with Moto 360. Just make sure you have your battery charged ahead of time. It consumed about 30% over 8 hours.

Kills my 360 as well. I reported this to the developer and he blamed it on the "old" processor. Claimed the Gear Live works better. I happen to have a Gear Live so I tested that with this app and got the same result. A dead battery before I woke up 8 hours later.
Love the app, but the battery killing kills the app for me.
I generally try to charge my watch before, but generally lose about 40% of over night running the app.

OK, I take that back. Installed Facer and one of the Sinn watch-faces, this morning my watch was dead when I woke up. My early assumption is that using a Facer plus Sleep as Android will drain the battery. I will try it tonight with a stock watch-face to see how the battery handles the sleep tracking.

Has anyone got their watch to last the night? I got the update for the Moto 360 so I'm going to switch to a stock face and charge up before bed.

No luck here, I turned this feature off because it would rather be able to charge my watch up to 100% in the morning before I leave for work than get accurate sleep statistics from my watch.
Hoping that they'll improve it.

Yeah, mine didn't make it either. I'm glad the watch gets a full charge in about an hour.
My Moto 360 has been working well with sleep as android. I usually have about 30% battery remaining.
have anyone tried to work with this app while the moto360 set to flightmode ?

not yet, but i will try.....
so far i make sure at 9pm i charge my 360.... go to bed with like 90%
in the morning its low... only killed it once... but it has been ok to get me to 70% or so with 25 min charge while i get ready
well... i've tried to sleep with the 360 for a few times ... its too bulky to sleep with.
rolled back to the miband.
Using LG G watch
I've been using Sleep as Android for the past week with my LG G watch and found it only uses about 15-20% of the battery overnight, so with a normal days usage and then a nights sleep im left with about 20% most mornings. Maybe the dev has made some updates recently ans its worth a revisit?
My charge cycle is now in the morning while I'm having brekky and getting for the day, not so bad.....
Morning All,
how do I start the app?
when I start it from the wear launcher, nothing appearant happens, if I start it from my phone (MotoX 1.Gen.) it keeps saying 'waiting for connection'.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA!

did u enabled smartwatch on the app settings??
because i use wear mini launcher, and when i click on it, in a few seconds, it connects to my phone
I got a 40% decrease per night. Given the time the battery usually last, is hard to do much better with the MOTO 360. I simply let it charge when I arrive home after dinner, so I can sleep with it fully charged, and let it charging while getting ready in the morning. Never had a problem of it killing my battery if it was full. Tried with watch apps, and some take it to real kill the battery. I suppose if your watchface reacts to the watch being active, it will drain the baterry. Bu I am using a custom (weather, calendar, time in different timezones) and no problem with Sleep As Android. Also developer had improved a lot since the first posts, so it is the best option and works pretty well with MOTO 360. Better battery buy a pebble

Did exactly the same, wear launcher as well.
Following your steps I just get sort of a timeout message on the watch.
Could it be, that the app portion on the watch somehow is stuck on an old version?

I have the newest fireware from last week on my moto 360. After I got the update battery was 2% to 3% an hour drain. Coming from 5%. Ambient off and screen either on auto or 4 brightness. Yesterday and today my battery life is now 8% to 10%. Nothing changed. Same watch face. Using Facer app for watch faces. My watch will drain 2% 15mins or so. Ill look at it and it will show 88% then 15 mins later Ill watch it jump down 2%. Not 1% but always 2%. I have reset the moto 360 and uninstalled facer and reinstalled it. Nothing same battery life. How come after the firmware the battery life was awesome then all of sudden 5, 6 days later im seeing this battery drain? Even if I use the stock watch faces it still drains way to fast. I have every thing off. Crap even after the update I used ambient for two days and still lasted from 7am to 10pm with juice to spare. Now I cant even get 7am to 10 pm with out a charge. What could be going on?
You tried resetting the 360. Now try restarting your phone. Remember, these two devices are tethered together via Bluetooth, so phone issues can affect the 360's battery life as well. I'm not saying that's positively the culprit, but with no other changes to the watch, there's not much else, other than a defective battery. (Assuming there's not another change you haven't seen, such as an updated wear-compatible app.)

Yeah I have done that. I just changed watch faces on the facer app to see if the watch face was causing the issue. Ill know in a few.
I think there's an app that bugs and uses battery, I noticed bad battery life and I reset and got over 2x more.
Try reset and not installing apps :good:

Not even facer?
I've noticed this myself. And like you, I've reset my 360, switched to minimal watch face, restarted my phone and even deleted the data for my google now app on my phone. Not sure what's causing it. Latest firmware and everything.
Mine just started recently.... i think mine might be related to the update of the wear app on my phone... it updated and did a force reboot of my moto 360. after that my watch started crashing processes and getting stuck... for a while, i couldn't even factory reset.... battery fell like a rock.... very odd.
Removed all 3rd party apps from phone, factory reset watch, and still battery drain is crazy. what used to last all day with 30% left over when i get home is now chewing up 50% in just 5 hours.... something is very wrong with the latest wear app i think....
Very interesting, I have had better life after the update...BUT one or two apps are acting a but funky on the phone...

I updated a couple of days ago to the android wear 5.0.1 OS and the latest android wear app...
Great work was done on the watchface API. Watchfaces are now more organized and accessible..
The biggest problem I'm facing now is the huge Battery Drain.
Watch can no longer last through the day.. I put it on at atound 6:30 in the morning.. At 2:30 PM, I'll be down to 15%.
What good is a watch if it can't last a normal day?
I think i might have jumped on the android wear wagon too soon.
Now I'm stuck with a useless device in my wrist.
Do you have a lot of 3rd party apps for the watch? I"m just guessing but it could be that these 3rd party apps aren't optimized to work with 5.0.1. Perhaps you could remove those apps and see how it goes.
And I assume that you've already done a reset?
I've made it through about 16 hours and am down to 46%. What are you doing to run it down so much? I have wrist activation turned off and ambient mode turned off. I do have Facer running with a watch face that gives weather and battery stats, but that's the only thing that would drain my battery.
I have not reset... I have two third party apps.. A compass and phone lost detection..
I'll reset and feedback here.. Good advice man thanks.
I have the same problem once i got the update even facer also updated battery life is bad again
Im having the same problem also. But after turn off BT a night, next day turn in again, the problem fix magically. Problem now is sometimes having difficulty to charge it. Need to turn off BT again then only can fully charge. Btw, didnt reset after system update.[/QUOTE]

For facer, see if this makes and difference -> http://www.reddit.com/r/Facer/comments/2p2in2/battery_life_android_wear_5_duplicate_watchfaces/
switch to the "other" facer app on your watch...

Same thing happened to me. I usually take my watch off the cradle around 8am and get home from work around 6pm. Usually have about 60% life remaining. I'm using just the built in digital watch face. Today was my first full day on 5.0.1 update and my watch died before 3pm. I can't believe it. Hoping it's just a fluke. Think I'll go one more day and if it happens again will try a reset.

The reset did improved the battery performance for me.
I don't see any harm in resetting as this is a watch after all, so little will be lost.
However, the battery performance surely improved but it did not return the watch to the same battery performance as before the update.
I used to pick up the watch at 6:30 AM and put it on the dock at 11:30 PM with 48-50 percent left.
Now I pick it up at 6:30 and put it on the dock at 10 PM with 15 percent left. But it's still surely an improvement before the reset and after the update (I got only 5 hours before I decided to reset)
I still haven't installed ANY third party apps at all. I can only imagine how the performance will decrease if I install phone lost detection or any other Bluetooth-demanding apps.
i am finding that i'm getting slightly less battery life, but i make it through the day fine. i'm starting to wonder how much the accelerometer is killing battery. they finally integrated the option to disable "tilt to wake" and i have seen an improvement only at work where moving my hands on the keyboard. on the weekends, when i'm just wearing/walking, etc., tilt to wake makes no difference.
I got the latest 5.0.1 update on my watch seem like battery life is back! Im at 65% and its 4pm I removed it from the charger at around 5am .
My previous problem was I had the 4.4w on my watch and Facer that was on Android 5.0 . That was the reason for the bad battery life.
I've been on 5.0.1 for a couple days now and while battery life seems unchanged to me, the watch does seem to have a hard time charging to 100%. I got home from work and put it on the charger and usually it charges to 100% within an hour. Now I noticed it would get to about 85-90% and stop charging completely. The blue circle charging screen stays on but it doesn't keep charging. I left it on the charger all night and it was at 86% when I picked it up in the morning. Anyone else seeing this issue?

I have pretty much the same issue with my Moto 360, except in my case I only get to 75~78%, less than yours. I've been googling here and there about this one, but so far no luck with fixes or workarounds. I've e-mailed Motorola and, although I don't except a lot from them, hopefully they get back to me with something useful.
i think i noticed this also! hovered around 85% -ish.
i just took it off the charger, put it back and then it has not happened since. this was a couple days ago.
stock stock stock all the way homie! latest updates. nex 6 paired.
Yeah seems ok to me now too. Strange.
Im seriously considering returning this item. I just bough the moto 360 yesterday and im getting unaceptable battery life. I see people on this forum able to use the watch for a full day and it still got battery while mine is struggling to run for 6 hours straight. Right now my watch has been running for 4 hours and a half and its down to 44%. I have tried every troubleshoot,I have resetted my watch 4 times now,I have cleared the cache of my application and reinstalled the whole thing. I even tried running it without any application installed, completely stock and my battery is still draining like crazy.
Im not using it that much. Right now I have insta weather installed, skymaster skin and wear battery stats and thats about it. I love this watch but i cant deal with this kind of ****. I consider myself pretty good with hardware and new accesories, and I cant believe how much time ive wasted trying to make this thing worked. Is there something to do really?
Try to use for is purpose for notifications if you bought yesterday and do all that things how are you going yo know which is is battery life with a normal use ?
The panel is who use al the battery , if u use ir forma notification you would get a day battery like a phone if you use youre phone for 4 hours you would drain your battery is battery life of your phone of 4 hours ? NO.

I have some difficulty understanding , but from what I can see you are telling me im using my watch to much? this is not the case. I just got back from work, and in 3 hours of work I lost about 30% of battery. this mean that my watch would be dead after 10 hours of small to none-use of my watch. I always see people talk about how theirs can last 18-24hours on average usage, are these people simply lying?

Yea well, I still have 12 days left to try it and see if it gets better, If not im gonna have to return this watch. I need at least 10 hours.. I mean comon this is ridiculous getting 5 to 8 hours per charge.. Im doing 20 hours of heavy usage on my LG g3 right now so the watch would die on me 3 to 4 time by the time my phone die... this is ridiculous
That Skyweather app is incredibly poorly written and eating your battery like crazy! It looks like it's causing wakelocks! UNINSTALL IT! NOW! And don't put it back on your watch, ever!
And you never mentioned what screen settings you are using which can be a huge culprit for battery drain! If you care about battery life:
Do NOT use Ambient Mode!
Do NOT use Auto Brightness!
Set your watch on the lowest #1 brightness and leave it alone. Stop fiddling with it. Stop turning on the screen! I see a LOT of on-screen time! I know it's new and all but it's not a toy.
It's supposed to be for quick glances, not a replacement for your smartphone!
Put the watch into THEATER mode if you find your wrist movements are waking it up far too much and eating battery. Be smart.
Also, YES, fully charge and then fully drain the watch for several days to a week. (Bring your charger to work for this part.)
I did this and my battery is excellent. It worked for me so give it a try.

One more tip that works well when you don't need to use your watch at night power it down and back on when you wake up and if you don't need notifications from your watch put it in aeroplane mode that turns bluetooth off big drainer when you need it take it out of aeroplane mode I get nearly 3 days use like this.

"...If you care about battery life:"? It's good advice, however do you hear yourself? What you are basically saying is "don't use the features, shut it all down and use it only to look at the time (ahem, just get $35 timex if that is the case). That's kinda nuts for a product that is targeted to the general consumer. Motorola (or Lenovo or Google?) have a marginal product here at best. Thats bad because the smartwatch has been with us now for a number of years, the battery should be a lot better - especially at this fairly high price point. How many people have returned the 360 after a few days because the battery life is crap in real world use? I'm going to bet many did, unless they are like us tinkerers, programmers and devs here... Nobody and I mean nobody is going to know to do the the things you have outlined to "save" the battery. Consumers are just going to use it, show it off and load whatever is available on the app store..
I've said it before on these forums and I say it again... We are paying to beta test this watch for Motorola. The battery life is horrific and Motorola know it. It is a "toy" admittedly a cool one at that. But frankly... All of us 1st gen owners who are sticking it out should be getting coupons for a deep discount on gen 2.

Umm, did you notice that you're in the Motorola Moto 360 forum?
same here i bought it tried to learn or play with the watch all day not all day few hour after it died but i didn't thought it was watch defective or w/e. its my own fault because i turned it on non-stop. i give it a normal usage a day after i bought it pretty much live to 20% on 9 hour on few times changing face theme and showing off to friends lol,, i think this watch will last 15hrs max on any heavy usage. those who said 1 or 2 day they're definitely lying or encouraging people to buy the watch or can be Motorola's hired scum bags
Guys, I am constantly getting at least 40 percent left at the end of my 12 hours day.
Using it for notifications only, as intended, plus some weather checking and replies by voice to incoming messages.
Ambient OFF
Auto brightness ON

While that post is pretty much in need of a complete rewrite, I will agree that I have no idea who these people are that are getting 2 days out of there watch on a single charge. I End the day at about 30% which is great, but it would be practically dead by morning if I wouldn't charge it over night.
I use InstaWeather and have no issues on battery life. Have you updated to the latest firmware? I can easily get a full day with plenty of battery life left at the end of the day. I'd return it for a different one. You may have issues. After the first update to 4.4, battery life for everyone went up dramatically.
Hey people!
Just got the Moto 360, first time battery really drained pretty quickly. Searched around forums, reinstalled the watch etc. It runs on 5.1.1 (and I am aware of the confirmed bug in Android). Though I'd like to share my second day of battery. Charged it yesterday to 94% at 23:00, reinstalled the watch. Had 78% left, didn't charge untill then. See the screenshot of the battery usage. Is this kind of normal?
Many thanks for your input! I am still doubting to get a other smartwatch with kind of slightly better battery life. Was hoping for 2 days, but it doesn't cut it. I have ambient off, wrist gestures off, tilt to wake off. I don't mind the watch being off actually. Just a quick tap to see the time is fine for me. I mostly did some google searches today and a short navigation test.
Maybe I'll get the Pebble Time... who knows. This watch is so perfect... but the battery is slightly average. How are you experiences towards the battery? Dealbreaker?
it getts better with time..

Dealbreaker?

even I wasn't impressed on the first week... my battery used to run down to 35% (from 100) in 10 hours...
but the backup was better as time went on... also after 5.1.1 update (and a reset after update) the battery life is great....
now I get 60-65% left when I return home....
I use to charge to 100% and switch it off before going to bed and start my day with the 100%.
65% left by evening could do another day but I have never tried!

I know people have had issues with navigation and it not turning off when they are done. What were you doing during the part when the battery drained fast (looks like 1 to 5 pm)? When I go for a run with runkeeper on (using GPS) I see drain that looks like that for the hour to two that I am out. I have found for most normal days that I can make it through a day. Active days with a run will be 20% to 30% at the end of the day. Non-active days without a run will be 30% to 50% at the end. My day is 5:30 am to 10:30 pm.
My watch has been off charger since 7:30 this am. It is now 12:52 and the battery is at 66%. I'm not sure if this is good or bad as I just got the watch a few days ago. I have disconnected the WiFi as I don't need notifications when I don't have my phone on me. Is it possible to turn certain notifications off? I like getting notifications on my phones for like twitter feeds I follow or G+ but I don't want them on my watch. I do want texts and emails to my watch though...
Thanks in advance

You can block individual app notifications from the settings in android wear app on your phone.

Yeah I've looked into this but I can't find how to do it? I was hoping there was a feature like this. How do I access this?
Oops never mind, just found it...lol
So I got my moto 360 about 6 days ago... I don't use any pre-installed apps too much.. I just use the watch to look at my time. The 3rd party apps I use are- Wear mini launcher and Wear Audio recorder... I just use them about 3 times a day and my battery life lasts around 7 hrs MAX! If I use my 3rd party apps, then its even worse. Yesterday I took my watch off the charger at 8:30 am and it barely made till 2 pm without 3rd party apps used. I tried factory resetting the watch twice. But with no luck. Saviours of XDA, please save me! I love this watch but this is a serious problem
P.S, I am running android 5.1.1 with android wear 1.3 and build number LCA44B.

As you can see, my battery lasted from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. It was on 95% because it was charging when i took the screenshot... but you probably know that from the graph.

If you have any of the location settings turned on (on your phone settings>>location set to off), turn those off. If your not using Google card preview turn that off too. If your not using Fit disable that too. I took mine off the charger @ 9PM last night, it is now 3:45 PM and I still have 69%. I have all notifications going to the watch, email from 2 accounts, sms, calendar.
Basically, turn off anything you are not using. You always have the option of turning it back on. Ambient display is another battery killer as well as wrist gestures... I just tap to display.

Everything you said is already turned off for me. I go to school at 8:30 am and get back home at 3.00 pm. Today I took the watch off the charger at 8:25 am and at 3:00 pm, I had 54% left. So its better but definitely not as good as you. Since I can't take my phone to school, I switched on airplane mode.
I'm getting worried. Some people say that the battery life gets better magically about 2 weeks later. And yesterday I saw this video on youtube where a guy replaced his 6 hour moto 360 to get a new one which gave him more that 24 hours battery backup. The last date that I can replace my 360 from where I ordered it is 14th of October. Should I wait for 2 weeks or replace my watch? What happed with you? Did your watch perform poorly at the start too? Or did you have this amazing battery life from the start?

My battery life got better over time, but if you are concerned, replace it while you can. Nothing worse than wondering what if I would have gotten a new one....
Update!!

As I said, I got home at 3:00 pm. I have received notifications since then and used the watch more than I do at school. Its 8:45 pm and I still have 6% left. So I think I will keep it. Its definitely getting better. Today it went a little more than 12 hours. So yeah, its nice. Thank you for all your help by the way... I look forward for battery life like yours. Will post an update tomorrow.

Disable location settings on phone, not watch... You can disable card previews in the android wear app.
Also, you can disable ambient mode from both android wear app and the watch itself.

Go to settings on the watch, scroll down to ambient mode and turn it off. Search Google for more details.
I've done this and I cannot get CLOSE to the battery life you guys get. I lose about 10% an hour if it's connected to my phone. I can get better than that if it's in airplane mode, but it's not by much. Maybe 5%. I have Google Fit turned off, I let the battery drain to 0, reset SEVERAL times, reset PHONE several times.
I did the tips above, but I don't know if it will help. When I described my issue with Motorola, they said that it sounded like there might be a battery issue.
But, I can't tell. Is there something else I am missing?
I want to use Moto Body, have a Watchmaker Premium Watch Face, use "Ok Google", use a Pedometer, and have the watch connected to the phone with notifications. I've read arguments for both Moto Body and Google Fit, and how each is better than the other with regards to battery life, but I can't tell. I just want this watch to work!
FYI, I bought it a week ago and I wonder if the fact that the watch was sitting there for 6 months on shelf contributed to the bad battery life.
Your thoughts?
