[Q] Contact Image Size/Resolution - Moto 360

Hey--- Having perfect image resolution on my Nexus 5, but coming up distorted aplenty on the watch. Any ideas on what size i'm supposed to be pushing or if it will automatically tighten up after a few days of usage (yanno, things work out randomly like that some times). Actually-- It's not just from my contacts, It's pushing fuzzy images from IG profiles and Groupme profiles as well.
What's your image resolution look like across the board? I know people are struggling with contact photos, but how's everything else for y'all?

For me, all contact pictures look horrible, along with the background image for any 3rd party app that gets pushed to the phone..... It is REALLLLY annoying me how bad it looks.

IDEEA - Hi-res photos application

Hi guys!
despite i use my HD for 9 months now, i still didn't find an application to make photos stored into my HD to be seen in hi resolution when they are attached to a contact or displayed by TFD3D within Photos and Videos tab
it's kinda of frustrating when you take nice pics with a dedicated camera with +5Mpx and then transfer them into HD
i know that there are some "manual" methods to make them displayed in hi-res but this is very dificult when you have more then 10 pics
so i am asking if you, smart guys here, can make such an application in order to be used by all of us with less programming skills
i am sorry if this app allready exists and i dind't find it out. if so, please point me to the right direction
thank you and best regards to all of you!
this is interesting - 105 users view this and no comment
if it is intersting, why no comment?
if it is not interesting, why +100 views?
It's interesting and I would like such an app as well - but it doesn't make much sense for me to comment because I have no idea on how to program it!
And I'm quite sure most of the 105 other users that have read this don't know either!
Tap on the low res "framed" image on the Photos and Videos tab to open the image in glorious high quality.
Slide left and right to scroll through the images in the album.
As for contacts, add the high quality image to the contact on the phone, not via Outlook, and it will show a high quality version on the phone.
Hope this helps and I haven't totally missed what you really wanted

nope
i know what you said and this is not how i wanted
i want to copy hi-res pictures from my cam into my SD card and them to use them to attach to contacts or to display on "Pictures and Videos" tab without any manual trick in order to be displayed in hi-res
if this is not possible "by default" because of some windows or htc bug, then i want an application that can be run and then all pics to be displayed in hi-res, no matter what i do with them
would that be possible?
It should be possibly, its just that no one has ever developed such a program and I can't see anyone doing this either
sorry, dont get that.
every picture, i transfer to my touch hd from an external source, are displayed in high resolution.
you sure, you dont need some glasses?
please add a screenshot to show what your problem is.
Hm, do you want a 1:1 pixel mapping? Then you will have to scroll around on your display to see the image.
Attention modern art:
Attached picture shows the relation of a 5Mpix image (2kx2.5k) to a wvga (480x800 black rectangle) screen.
Typically images will be downsampled to show 'all' information on a smaller resolution. Simple example: Having a 16x16 image and you want to show it on 8x8 screen you could take the average of 2x2 pixel blocks of the image which will give the pixel color in the 8x8 screen. This will introduce some bluriness.

smart line! did you came out with it all by yourself?
the low res pictures problem of HD when attached to contacts or displayed on pictures & videos tab is well known.
maybe i missed something and it is solved on newer roms but i count also on fallen spartan comments and it seems that it is not solved yet

Both the HD's I've got show high res contact images.
I put the images on the phone (created an Avatar folder to keep things neat) then from the contact picked the image.
From what I've read, that's the way to do it.
If you pick the images in outlook then sync, it creates a lower res image and uses that on the phone.
The rolordex screen in album is admitedly lower res than selecting the image and scrolling left and right, but then if it wasn't the rolordex would be a lot more cpu hungry, what with having to display the picture rotated slightly, and animate it as you flick through the album.

Problem with phone displaying everything, HELP

My phone recently started displaying everything with like a cartoon effect where you can see all the pixels being thick? & I copied some images to my pc & they display correctly so I decided to take a screenshot of a picture, please look, any help?
Thanks in advance
hi does it do it when your on the se home screens and app draw or just with photos youv taken ?
Looks weird. Like the screen is only able to display a very little amount of colors which results in heavy banding in gradients. Or heavily compressed images.
Like the previous poster said, are only the photos affected or everything like homescreens too? If only photos, you haven't changed to camera quality settings to the worst (though I heavily doubt it could be that bad even if you did)?
Ooops you said they look fine on the computer which is weird. Maybe your screen if faulty somehow. Don't know. But if only the screen is faulty it should not show on a screenshot. Very weird problem indeed.
Its just affecting when I take pictures, or even when I download random images the same problem occurs, so just viewing images really
So just viewing images, It may be your image viewer.
Is that the stock photo app or camera360?

It's the stock gallery app.
If it only affects images I would try and download another gallery application like Quickpic and see if the images display fine.
Maybe if you replaced the app with the one fro system dump?
Sent from my Xperia Play
I used quickpic & it works fine its just gallery & some games
Wow, I found out what it was.... It was chainfire 3d, I accidently selected the unroll to 16 bit & when I uninstalled it it worked fine!

Poor camera quality in apps

Recently I got Snapchat and Instagram, when I use their built in camera, the quality is severely reduced. It looks like a 5 MP camera. But using stock camera app (or any camera app) the quality is great. The problem is with apps that do more than take pictures.. Here's two photos so you get an idea. Anyone else have these issues or know a fix?
I haven't noticed any particular image quality problems on my G3 with those apps. I do know that Snapchat saves images in same resolution as your screen, so in the G3's case: 2560x1440

I don't know if you can see from the pictures, but I don't get anywhere near that, or HD for that matter. You wouldn't happen to know a fix?
Instagram reduces filesize, so, they probably do this directly from the camera app.

I'm aware all apps reduce file size, but the images I capture are no where near up to par to a decent standard. The image quality with Snapchat on my HTC M8 was great, but on the G3 it's horrible
I'm having the same problem you are. I reinstalled Snapchat and the problem was still there. I even tried a camera mod (tweaks media_profiles) to no avail. It's a frustrating problem especially when I see my friends' high quality snapchat pictures and while mine are blurry.
Solution!
I finally figured out what was causing this, it somehow just came to me. All you have to do is hide the navigation bar in Snapchat (or any other app you're experiencing this in) and viola, clear pictures! Go to settings->display->home touch buttons. Hope this helps!

So it just looked blurry on your end until you removed the nav bar and on others' phones it looked fine even before your fix?
No it would be blurry to the people I snapchatted as well. I think it has to do with the fact that snapchat captures the image as a "screenshot" of what appears on the screen rather than the raw image from the camera.

Oh my, thank you so much man! I could finally Snapchat friends without feeling embarrassed, you're the best!
It bothered me so much before. Glad I could help!
My pictures are definitely better in snapchat after hiding home buttons

Google Photos app DNG, questionable viewing quality

Hi,
Bit of a small issue if you can call it that, just a tad annoying. DNG photos don't display poorly, but certainly not at their max quality. Other apps like lightroom do display the image in full quality/sharpness. However i cannot think of a good reason why G photos would not do that?
G photos recognises this as a RAW image, it just seems a tad dissapointing it isn't showing it in the full glory in my opinion, its locally stored as well obviously. Any ideas on this one? It seems though that capability isn't there.
Attached is a small section of the same photo opened up in the 2 different apps, quite a large difference in them.

Video - bad quality, faces blurred. What's the problem?

I just noticed a huge problem with 1080p video from my Mi Max 3 (original rom 6/128). Faces are totally blurred and flattened, huge quality problems. It looks the same in the phone itself then playing back. Why??? I don't want to root it but still have to shoot 1080p30 with image stabilization. Are there alternatives for stock camera app that can do that and don't crap out like that?
This is the link to example video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/e7gSKxykBVtXL5pW9
That is strange, have you tried video elsewhere
All videos from yesterday are like this. I didn't try anything else. It was cold but not too cold. I don't see anything in the settings that could have resulted in this... Why are those blobs there instead of faces? Weird... Older videos seem fine, however there was a recent firmware update...
Photos from the same day at the same time are also like this! But other photos are fine... I'm starting to think it was some kind of condensation on the glass or temperature affecting sensor or something like that, although it wasn't that cold, maybe -8C. Other person shooting on iphone got fine photos and videos. Weird...
