hey, im attempting to mod my xperia play r800i but need to clarify a few issue here as im very very very new to android.
1. currently on 0.42, if i root it and then update to 0.62, is the phone still rooted? if not, what is the way to root 0.62? is the same rooting method applicable on it?
2. to mod my phone, is the sequence correct? unlock boatloader via sony homepage>root phone> install DoomLord kernel> flash JokaWild rom
3. for the CVM, can it be accessed for all xperia play, or need to install someting to access into that mode?
thanks!
just unlock the bootloader and then install the DoomKernel via fastboot, Doomkernel is already rooted and CWM installed

If you update OTA and not through a computer, you keep root. However, OTA doesn't work after removing bloatware, so make sure you haven't removed anything yet.
The order would be unlock bootloader, flash stock .62 firmware, flash DooMKernel, load recovery, install jokawild.
The CWM you would use to flash jokawild is built into DooMKernel. When booting the phone, the notification light will turn blue. When it does, press the back button to enter recovery.
Also, you don't need to worry about keeping root, or rooting again since jokawild is already rooted automatically.

thanks for all the reply!
another question, how do i access my phone's internal memory via my laptop?
it seems that i can only access sd card data.
Afaik the only way is to use ADB, and I'm pretty sure that's only for push/pull commands and not file browsing.
I usually use root explorer from the phone itself.

hey, want to ask another question, if i do a 'factory reset', will it delete the crash bandicoot apk file in the internal memory? because i need the file for pspxperia to emulate ps1 games in it. thanks!

I believe the app comes factory preset.
You could always just copy the Crash Bandicoot files to your computer and not worry about it though.
in the sdk manager, what i should choose to install? the tools and android kit api 14?

no need to install that API, just install this only
- Android SDK tools
- Android SDK Platform-tools
- Google usb driver(extra)
A factory reset, as in one you do through the phone menus, doesn't modify which apps are installed. It only wipes user settings.
Flashing a stock firmware includes the games that you had when you got the phone.

which way to unlock boatloader is recommended? s2tool or from sony website?
is it true that if use s2tool method, update still can be done via OTA?
If you root your Xperia phone using Framaroot(Gandalf Exploit), and edit /system files, a random reboot occurs. We have to fix this by Remount-Reboot fix which was originally created by [NUT]. ADB version of this tool has already been shared here and here .
But it requires the use of PC to fully root your phone. I found a flashable version of the same tool and wanted to share with you guys
Download
http://nut.xperia-files.com/?dlid=cmVtb3VudHJlYm9vdGZpeA==
Instructions
1)Download framaroot apk
2)Open the app, select Gandalf exploit ("Install SuperSU" should be selected in the dropdown menu)
3)Keep trying until you get Success notification It will notify you to reboot your device
4)Reboot. SuperSU should be visible in your app drawer. If not, repeat the steps 1-4
5)If busybox is installed, fine and good. Or else the tool will install for you
6)Reboot into recovery and flash the zip file
7)Your phone is now fully rooted
You can test whether your phone is fully rooted by modifying any system app(Like you can rename a bloat app in /system/app) and the phone shouldn't reboot. If it reboots, then your phone isn't fully rooted.
Note: As soon as you have installed this rootfixer and you saw it replace the already installed busybox, remove any and all busybox installer apps you have, it will probably break the rootfixer if you update busybox using that app. The version this rootfixer installs is rock solid and is used by most if not every kernel dev working on Xperia line kernels.

Will this work with Flash Gordon?
This message was brought to you from my Sony Xperia M C1905 using Tapatalk.
Number 6 - reboot into recovery and flash zip
Yeah if you have an unlocked bootloader and elixer kernel which is the only way to have recovery on this phone so far.
Alternatively flash Gordon should work but technically needs full root to flash it via that app

Yes, you will have to have CWM to flash this obviously. The main aim to create this thread is to enable the users to get full root when you dont have PC with you.
Currently, there are two kernels - ELixir and the 'stock kernel with cwm by alvinhochun'. You can create a flashable version of these kernels and use them, So you dont have to depend on PC to get full root.
The reason why it reboots if you edit system files its because the phone is half rooted if you use Framaroot(Gandalf Exploit) you have to full root it and if you full root it you don't need to flash this
OP dont get me wrong but for now cwm is for only UBL....
in UBL reboot fix is not needed...UBL can mount systems...and can edit them without any issue
in locked BL u cant flash anything...so y did u created this/?
and framaroot wont work on dual sim..
I want to swap internal-external sdcard or mount folder app so that I can play big games with large data. For this, I rooted my phone with Impactor, and tried remount reboot fix by NUT and reboot fix by Anto Kus. But till now the phone reboots on using folder mount. Also my phone reboots while using a dual partitioned sdcard to use it with Link2sd. I have tested root checker which shows phone is rooted. I am using Titanium Backup without any problems. Should I go for bootloader unlock?
My phone xperia m dual c2004, 4.2.2, build 15.2.A.2.5.
Thanks

I had already installed busybox and followed the procedure shown in the thread. The busybox is supported but inspite of root access, I can't change permissions in system files as a result the reboot fix is not working. Somewhere I read unlocking bootloader will help. Is it?
yes u must unlock bootloader for use full root access like change permission etc

No, you don't need to unlock your bootloader to get full root access. Try this updated version of the reboot fix and then you're fully rooted...
Unlocking your bootloader will give you full root access without using root tools, exploits, etc., but many proprietary Sony apps will not work anymore because your DRM keys will be wiped when you unlock the bootloader...

I have already backed up bootloader using TA backup and got bootloader key from Sony website. But can I claim warranty, if I restore locked bootloader? Or warranty is void, not reversible.

Ya, I know about the cons of unlocking bootloader. Thats why I am still waiting for other ways. I have also tried the fix by NUT from the forum which u gave link but still not fully rooted as it is unable to write in system folder. But other root operations like removing bloatware is done without any problems. Thats strange. Busybox is installed by NUT which supports part of the fix but the other scripts did not work in system.
By the your xm dual c2004 was updated to build 15.2.A.2.5 or is it from out of box like mine?
What script is basically not working

If not working then you may update it via sony update service and reset phone
then follow guide again to root
According to guide use the same busybox as mentioned open and install it
or try from beggining again
Here are steps
use injector
install super su from google play
open and use super su
and install it binaries
install busy box x as mentioned
then open it and install allow root access if asked
then use reboot fix by NUT
follow cmd guide
and allow adb when ask permission
then phone will reboot
Then its written wait to check fix
And then its done press continue
done
use folder mount have fun
then
My C2004 also have full root access with locked bootloader, just updated to 15.2.A.2.5 through Sony Update Service, used Cydia Impactor, installed SuperSU from Play Store and then ran the script I linked to you. After all I have full root access, can remount system without problems and my bootloader still locked...

I tried to download it but the play store says it is not available in your country. Can you send me the apk?
Hi, i have an Xperia ZL with Locked Bootloader and i tested it and it worked, no need to flash anything, just go in your mobile browser to https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B28tGmPEAKnOeGhkemVTZlAtMk0/view?usp=sharing, download and install the apk and run it, it will do allt he work for you, i have experienced some reboots but some minutes after my phone goes completly stable, it will install a task killer called kingmaster and the root manager called kinguser, you can uninstall kingroot and kingmaster and just need to keep kiguser, super user and super su doesn´t work but with kinguser installed i have completly root acces
UPDATE: In my first post i posted the direct link to download kingroot from its website, but it was downloading different versions and not all of them are working fine, so i uploaded the correcto version to my google drive, it works perfectly, the version 4.0 is in chinese and doesnt work, but version 4.1 is in english and works fine
Can anybody else comment on this ? I've read shady details about kingroot from other threads but some of it may not be up to date.
I think this method doesn't really works, Titanium backup don't get root access by example...
You can indeed get root using this method, but will need to change it to SuperSU before attempting to use Titanium Backup.
I don't recommend it
can I unroot the phone afterward for warranty service?
Why you dont recomed it Oliver?
Dandy, i have been using titanium backup perfectly with this root method, just open king user, revoque the root acces to titanium and open titanium again, it will prompt you for root acces and then it works perfectly
Dlslith, there is no need to change to supersu or super user, i think this cannot be done
Atisho, i dont know a method to unroot Xperia zl on android lollipop, but im interested too, i will be searching and trying

Yes, the Kingroot method does work (you need to have internet access). I have used it to root my Z1, but it is generally considered a "Risky" way to root.
If you need it done fast, it will work. Most people recommend taking the longer process of downgrading to an earlier version, using a root tool that installs SuperSU or Superuser, then installing a recover, and finally installing a pre-rooted version of the ROM you want / need.
The reason that king is considered risky is that part of the root process requires you to have web access and the app sends the phone IMEI number to some unknown IP address in china.
Is that all that Kingroot sends? unknown
What can / do they do with the IMEI? unknown
What else does king user do if the root is sending your IMEI number to china? unknow
Use at own risk. I really was having trouble with my Z1 after I tried to install a rom but it was corrupted and I lost the recovery and root.
I used Kingroot to get root access, then used the root to install a recover, then did a clean install of the full ROM I wanted.
groot to get root access, then used the root to install a recover, then did a clean install of the full ROM I wanted.
Does anyone know which exploit kingroot is using to get root access?
Hi,
I tried to root on Lollipop using Kingroot, It installed root, then I tried to switch the Root Manager App to SuperSU, In doing this I uninstaled KingRoot, KingUser and all other apps and tried to update binaries with SuperSU which obviously failed.
Now the problem is such that - KingUser is installed as a system app and also the su binaries are loaded. When i type su command from the Terminal i get the following error:
[-] connect ui: timer expired.
Unable to root with any known technique
I have also tried to do a system reset but kinguser still persisted.
Is there any way to wipe /system clear and flash a ftf to start from a clean slate and try rooting again.
