Interesting the Aluminum case and TPU alike look rather well on the device! BUT I have never used a bumper, only TPU cases; so does anyone know if this would supply sufficient protection from drop damage? I imagine the Aluminum would make the phone more susceptible to cracked screens from a drop but IDK. Thanks and subbed.
Very interesting.. going to purchase a set as well of the TPU ones and see how that is. I'm still loving the Diztronic, but it's starting to lift up my screen protector in two of the corners and it's becoming slightly annoying having to lift up the lip of the case and push the protector back down.

Probably just as well as the TPU ones.. And the TPU ones wont scratch your case up.. that's what I would be worried about with the Aluminum one.

The problem is that I have honestly never used a bumper. I had a TPU case for my
S2 but I never dropped it *knocks on wood* so idk how well bumpers protect from fall damage.

I would think it would provide as must fall protection as a Tpu case of equal thickness and I know for the 3 weeks I had an iPhone the bumper on it seemed to work well

So I've been looking for a TPU bumper for a while, and all I've seen are normal cases which have a back. I'm looking for one thats just a bumper and without a back. currently i have an aluminum bumper on my OPO but i dont like it much because of the sharp corners and slipperiness.

this isnt a bumper though. its a case with a clear back. plus according to reviews, theres a gap between the lip and the bezel of the device which doesnt look that great, and the back clear plastic scratches really easily :/

I think there are no TPU bumpers available because they do not hold to the edge without slipping often. Just imagine you put a rubber band around the edge of the phone and taking it in and out of your pocket.

this is unfortunate. i think it is possible to make one though. the nexus 4 has a bumper and its completely round lol. plus rhinoshield had a model for it, they just never went through with making it.
I have been looking for one as well. I thought about getting that Orzly Fusion mentioned earlier in the thread and seeing if I could separate the back from it. I love the feel of my sandstone back, and don't want to cover it.
Looks like that might work. I think if you used a dremel cutting wheel and left a little of the clear lip around the back it might work really well.

I have one and you should be able to do that, however, it does seem like the back would be loose which means you might have to either cut the plastic from the outer edge which can be a hard job and leave some plastic left on the inside to cover the slack or fill in the slack with something else, either way it is achievable but you do risk losing £10

I don't think anything exists that is a bumper case that isn't made out of some kind of metal.
There are quite a few metal bumper case for OPO on Ebay and and Indian Ecommerce site flipkart, but I don't want a metal one.

Upstate: Received on Sunday from Amazon. I'm happy with this case. It does what I wanted, which was protect the front and rear glass areas from contacting surfaces when I put the device down. The raised rubberized black lines keep the phone up away from the clear cover. The holes in the clear cover for USB, mic, stereo jack (bottom), and whatever the tiny hole next to the camera is on the back all line up perfectly. I like the bumpers on the corners too. Hopefully I won't have reason to test them, but they look capable. :good:

I also picked up this case. It is quite good, nice and slim with solid side grips. Having a clear back allows my Skinnova skin to show through which is cool. It fits tightly around the phone and feels quite sturdy. I'd definitely recommend this if you're looking for something close to a bumper case. I think this might be as close as we're going to get for this device.

Will do! I just ordered it yesterday, the total came out to around $20 USD. It looks like they 3D print the cases individually, so it won't be shipping out until Aug 31st.
I just got the bumper case from Shapeways today. First impressions - it's just ok, nothing spectacular. It feels like a $5 -10 bumper case, not a $20 one. The fit is a bit loose and not as sung as I would like. The grip is really solid though, and I like the texture. Overall I would say this bumper case isn't worth the money. But if you REALLY want a slim case, I would say go for it. I'm not sure if we'll ever get a different bumper case for this phone, so this might be your only option (at least right now).

Yeah it does.
TBH i've yet to come across a case (on the 11 or the 11+) that edge sense DIDNT work with.
They would have to be [pretty ill fitting or have an uncommon design for it not to work.

Got my XLevel transparent tpu cover today and I really liked it, quality is top notch, the back is transparent enough to see the translucent u11+ back, the sides are opaque but very grippy, the cover protects about 1.5mm above the screen too which is good enough and better than cheap tpu covers I had on u11

Tried one the same binned it straight away. Glass on glass is asking for trouble. Not practical goes no where near far enough. Avoid.

Wish I would have read this post first. I bought that Stomob case. It does look good with the translucent cover but within 6 hours of putting it on I had 3 large scratches across the screen of my brand new OP7 Pro. The hard plastic cover (it isn't glass - likely polycarbonate) grinds into your screen. I'm super bummed and will see if Stomob stands behind their product at all that they claim ensures screen protection.
I've used clamshell cases on other phones for years without ever getting a scratch - this case causes scratches - avoid at all costs.

No. They're the only option for this kind of case. That sucks. Which is why I question the idea of modding other cases in order to have a bumper-only case. RS cases are just not that great, IMO.

Agree. They're not. I used them on my 6p and if you drop the phone, it's a scuff mark. The paint job peels quite easily as well.
