SIM unlock? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

It is possible to SIM unlock the m919? I work in IT and travel around a lot. As much as I love T-mo, the reception isn't good unless I'm in a city. About 70% of the time on on an edge connection . I wanna switch to AT&T prepaid.
Help?

If the phone is paid for T-Mobile will provide you the SIM unlock code for free. I called 2 months after I purchased the phone and they texted the unlock code within the day.

I don't believe so. However, I did unlock mine with a TW rom. What should happen is when you insert the non-TMO SIM, the phone should prompt for the code.

I told them I was going to Europe for a few weeks and wanted to be able to use cheaper SIM while I was over there.
I think this was the 3rd or 4th phone I've done this with.
Part of the reason I've stayed with PowerTel/VoiceStream/T-Mobile all these years.

You do have to be on touchwiz to unlock
Edit: maybe with a GPE ROM it will work but not sure

Gpe wouldn't have the menus since its already unlocked

[Q] Will this phone work on 3g in Europe & UK ?

I bought my SII a few days ago and am wondering if it will work in Europe.
Also, will t-mobile give me an unlock code? I've been with them for over a year.
I got an unlock code for mine and i have only been back with tmobile for 60 days. Just ask them in chat. It will work in Europe but I don't think it will be on hi speed network.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P512 using xda premium
How quick did you get the code? I just called in and made the request. She said up to 14 days.
I think Europe 3g band is 2100 which the t-mobs SII supports. But I don't know if that means it will work.
Yes it will work on 3G in Europe... I've taken TMO phones to Spain several times and was rocking 3G on Vodafone the entire time.
if it has the frequency it will work
Awesome, thanks guys.
Tmobile just sent me the unlock code. Is there any way to enter it without another sim card?
Could 1 of you guys request the Unlock code for my Galaxy S II? I don't have t-mobile, I brought the phone from a 3rd party phone shop. I have a receipt from the shop, but I'm assuming t-mobile wants a receipt that it was purchased from them. PM me if someone will help me pls.

No the new sim card has to be in the phone every time. When you used different sim card the code is the same .I travel to Poland a lot and other countries and I got the code like 4 years ago and it sill works all over europe and 3g works too
i travel to poland too, good news

It's not possible to do this for you, need TMo SIM, they check it.
You can pay one of those services a small amount of money for a code. It's fast and less hassle than trying to get TMo to give you one.

While this is excellent news, whatever the method is will not work on the AT&T variant.
This is a major deciding factor for me on getting the Note 4. Root is a must have just for AdAway and Xposed.

Because AT&T locks down all of their bootloaders. This makes it nearly impossible to root or flash custom roms. They've been doing this since last summer with the Galaxy S4.
Ya unfortunately. ATT's phone's for the most part have been rooted by geohots. Who now... Works for Google to fix the exploits for possible rooting. The ATT G3 was able to get rooted by Towelroot, I hope the same goes for Note 4... but I doubt it.
Yes, this is only for note 4's with unlocked bootloaders. It will not work on AT&T's or Verizon's. Possibly good news for the T-Mobile version though, as soon as we can get a stock rom dump to chainfire.
BTW: I would change my subject line OP so people don't get confused.
This is the first phone I have paid for not under contract. So as I started doing research u read about AT&T locking the bootloader. So last night I preordered the T-mobile phone just to have this ability. I did have to sign up for $50 a month just to be a customer but I will be a customer. I will cancel after the first month.

This will be my first time I am trying to convert a phone from one carrier to another. when I get the phone will I be able to just stick my existing AT&T sim card in to it and it work or will I have to wait for the 40 days and ask tmo to unlock it?
I know the iPhone 6/6+ came unlocked for tmo and you could just stick the AT&T sim card directly in to it and it would work.

From what I've gathered from the note 3 threads, we will most likely have to pay a website a fee to get an unlock code if we don't want to wait 40 days on contract for tmobile to do it. Chainfire released an app that had a "side effect" of carrier unlocking the sim for the Note 3. Whether that happens with the Note 4 remains to be seen. I'm just going to assume I'll have to pay a fee to an unlocking website.

I've had an htc one m7 with att and then wanted to sell it to a guy on craigslist who had t-mobile. you must sim unlock the device, it's a code. Just tell at&t or tmobile that you have a trip going to europe and need the phone unlocked to be able to use it. Then they will give you the unlock code. Put in the att sim card it will ask for a code then put it in.
What I did was I paid a guy on ebay 4$ to get the code and I got it within 5 seconds att was taking too long and the guy wanted the phone that day.

No, and don't try it either.
CF-ROOT won't ever work on AT&T Note 4 because it requires an unlocked bootloader to achieve it.

Won't be able to tell you until tomorrow
For all of you who are freaking out about it being a locked bootloader...so was the LG G3 for AT&T...we just got TWRP on it last week. Took 3 months but it is doable from the right people.
It was called "Bump" and I have tested the unlock myself with full custom twrp recovery & root.

Req. unlock code from AT&T...

I paid for my phone up front and will be requesting an unlock code from AT&T just as soon as my phone hits 60 days.
Once my phone is unlocked, i understand i can switch carriers... which other carriers will i be able to use aside from AT&T? At least with 3g speeds?
Also, once unlocked, will i be able to use cf auto-root to root? Thoughts on this?

I called at&t a week ago and ask for the unlock code because I am travelling out of the country, and they refuse to give it to me unless I pay the remaining balance since I use attnext program, so I decided to order the code online instead ,within 5 hrs they sent me an email of the unlock code and works great, I am in the Philippines right now, works great with SMART telecom sim with 4g lte, just sharing haha

HTC 10 Sim Unlock Code

I'm using t-mobile HTC 10 around a week, but want switch to AT&T now as the AT&Ts 4g internet connection is faster in my area. To my surprise not so many services can unlock this phone at this moment (maybe because the phone just came on market, hard locked or smth). found some services where htc 10 is supported. Just want to ask- is anyone used these services?
Mod Edit

Hi @stifilz, I back on HTC, this time with T-Mo HTC 10. It seems unlocked because my sim is working perfectly fine, 4g lte and all. I'm thinking of getting s-off and flashing US Unlocked RUU, just scared I might lose the sim unlock.

A few questions:
1. I read somewhere that when you flash the US Unlocked RUU during setup you're asked to pick a network. Was there anything like that for you? What did you do if there was?
2. How did you do the physical unlock and how much did it cost?
3. When I bought my phone from the guy I just popped in my sim and it works. The T-Mo unlock app is still in my apps but I've decided not to touch it. How can I tell if mine is physical unlock?
Thanks!

Not sure of your status with this but DO NOT use htcunlockingservice.com. It was $12 to begin with, then I was informed I'd need to pay an additional $12 bc the device was hard locked. I did, they notified me they got an unlock code from Sprint server but it did not work. Site says 100% money back guarantee but thats proving as much of a pain as dealing with Sprint customer service.

T-Mobile Firmware on Sprint phone?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has tried this. Obviously, the bootloader would need to be unlocked.
It works but doesn't. You'll still be locked to Sprint and the T-Mobile ROM will see that and you won't get service until you unlock the SIM. Other than that, it seemed okay when I tested it. Only tried it for a quick 15 minute boot though... Tested my flat mate's T-Mobile sim and my Sprint sim. Both wouldn't work.
Actually, I forgot to mention that Sprint has already SIM unlocked my phone. Knowing that, I could in theory at least flash the T-Mobile firmware and then with a TMobile sim get Tmobile wifi calling and VoLTE? Also would the phone then automatically get Tmobile software updates?

I wouldn't know. It's worth a try. You won't brick your phone. If it doesn't work, the switch back to Sprint firmware is just another flash all away.

I may do so. The only risk is that I'd have to open up a new T Mobile account to fully test, and then I'd be scrambling (and out of pocket) if I couldn't get the tmobile flashed sprint phone to work. Do you have a link for the T Mobile and Sprint firmware?
