Update Posted September 26 2014:
Numerous fixes and additions:
Added Slimbean Extras including Email, Exchange2, Launcher2, Music2 and VideoEditor
Camera delay is positively fixed - absoultely no delay
Removed FM radio which does not work
Instructions:
I always prefer fresh install.
You may try, if you wish and if you already have the previous version, to flash this on top;
If you are doing fresh install, see original instructions (full wipe).
P.S. When you boot for the first time, you will get:
1. Notificaiton that email app stopped (disregard it, the app will work without any further messages)
2. Notification that SU binary should be updated: follow instructions
Regarding bootloops: Do a fresh install, which is always preferred. Also, remember, custom roms based on Cyanogen want all system apps signed by the same key. If you have SU or any other app that you installed in the system (and then flash update on top) that means that those apps are signed by different keys, which would result in a bootloop during subsequent updates. Do research and learn about not messing with system apps. Neither SU nor any other app needs to be installed in system. Also, the same applies if you decompile and mess with a system app - once you re-compile the app, you'll have to sign it and your key is different, which again means bootloop.
Also remember that this rom is designed to work with Stock JB 4.1.2 kernel only. If you have an unlocked bootloader and custom kernel, you will get bootloop and/or other issues
Before posting this update, I reformatted my phone and did a fresh install: no issues. You know what it means: I don't want to hear about bootloops.
____________________________________________________________________________
Rom checked on my device: boots 100% in about 25 seconds. Just re-uploaded. This might have been an issue of a corrupt upload.
Slimbean latest release built from sources on September 6, 2014. This is for IONs with locked bootloaders. This is not Kitkat, it is based on JB 4.1.2, which is ages more stable.
Changes:
1. Open source Launcher Advanced (one of few open launchers)
2. Terminal and FM radio added (were missing in original release by Olivier)
3. Battery/Wifi fixes incorporated in code prior to building
4. Radio menu fixed (now when you dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone, you no longer get F/C)
5. Default network changed to LTE
The phone seems snappier than with the original release, perhaps because the rom was built on Gentoo, which is the best Linux around. But maybe it is just placebo. You decide.
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Be rooted, have Recovery and JB 4.1.2 kernel
2. Enter recovery, wipe System/Data/Cache (remember factory reset is not enough)
3. Flash the rom, reboot and let it settle, which shouldn't take long
4. Enjoy and press thank you or perhaps donate...

Thanks for the rom. I just flashed it and rebooted.. the screen is stuck on the slimbean logo for over 10 minutes.. the slimbean logo is flashing normally as if its about to load. You think something went wrong and I should interrupt it?
EDIT: So i interrupted after about 12 minutes by holding power and volume up keys and entered twrp to go back to previous rom. Will try back later.

I'll look into it. Did you do system/cache/data wipe prior to flashing?
Sorry to ask again but can we have INLINE/INVOICE CALL RECORDER like the one seen in your honami ROM. I think it was a part of 0.96w fw jellybean 4.1.2. I really need it and so do others too

Rom re-uploaded: works fine
I checked the rom and it boots on my ION fine. Re-uploaded. This might have been an issue of a corrupt upload.
Downloading, will try tomorrow after school is out. Thank you Optimum you and your damn roms tempt me as much as i tell myself to stick to stock after CM10 had quite a few issues on my end i guess.
Also on a side note if you need mirrors, I can make two or three.
Can we have kitkat like notification quick settings in this rom ?

Yup, I wiped system/data/cache and haven't had any problems with flashing other roms before/after this rom.
I see that you re-uploaded.. will give it a try later today. Thank you.
I had the same problem, stuck at the logo. I'll try another download too.

I'm not really a picture taker. Post #3 in this thread has a flashable camera. I'm not sure it would work on this rom, but I would flash it and if it didn't work just do a restore from backup.

Does anyone low of how I can get small apps back? Although they're not a deal breaker, I actually used a couple of them and would like them back.

You can try these:

But that would go against AOSP nature of this rom.

Ok, I'm slowly catching on. I switched from iPhone a couple of months ago and had gotten an HTC One which I unlocked the boot loader, did the S-Off and rooted. I run AOKP on that phone and the xperia was a backup to carry when I'm running or cycling. As it turns out, my wife's iPhone is messing up so I've put a sense rom back on the One. She likes getting that feed screen and all. Now the Xperia is my main phone. I guess Honami is the Sony equivalent of proprietary like sense is to HTC.
I've found I like the Sony's and will probably replace the HTC with a Z1 or Z1 compact but I need to do some research as unlocking the boot loader is a requirement. It wasn't so important on the ion due to its purpose, plus I couldn't find an I or H at a reasonable price.
I realize I've gotten wordy and a touch off topic and apologize.
I'll keep my eyes out for a camera and as for the multi tasking, I forgot there's an xposed app that may allow some multi tasking.
I really do appreciate the ROM and am especially grateful to the dev of this rom for making it usable on a locked boot loader.

Here is a 4.3 ROM built from AOSP source designed to emulate what a Verizon 4.3 ROM would be like. The changes from AOSP include the addition of GAPPS, addition of Verizon apps, appropriate binaries so everything works, addition of busybox, correct eri.xml, home screen layout to mimic a stock ROM, and the removal of the tethering restriction. The ROM is not pre-rooted, so flash Chainfire's SuperSU if you want root.
As usual, flash at your own risk and post any successes or problems.

I'd recommend a full factory reset, but people can try what they feel comfortable with. Personally, I did a factory reset, wiped both caches, and then flashed the ROM (with TWRP).

Do you have any on your sdcard partition in the Ringtones folder? If not, I'd check \system\media\audio path (subfolders for ringtones, alarms, etc). Delete any duplicates you find in there. I don't have any duplicates and there aren't any in the rom.zip I uploaded.
just overwrote mms.apk in system/apps to get the custom pink mms, and got a quick reboot to my boot screen, this never happened on 4.1 roms that weren't source, don't know if this is normal because i replaced the app and it was a one time thing (i hope). as far as going to system/media/ringtones, i see them but there arent any doubles, however theres doubles when i go to select a ringtone from the menu, for everything system related, ringtones and notifications.
What issues have people had? Any boot issues?
I replaced the "stock" keypress ogg files from ics/jelly bean that sound better with this 4.1.1 release, the new key click sounds are horrible. works fine. i used to have t-cdma 64 with any build from 4.1.1 there is a fix that works that ill just apply. its a xml file or something.

Install Instructions:
1. Back up your current rom. Keep in mind that after flashing, you will have to reinstall CWM, as this is stock kernel.
2. Have latest JB stock kernel, Root and CWM
3. Enter recovery, mount System, Cache, Data and Format each (don't just do data erase/reset, it is not enough)
4. Flash the rom
5. Fix permissions (optional, but wouldn't hurt)
6. Reboot and let the rom settle
7. Go to Settings/Display/QuickSettings, you will have a pop up asking which app to use. Select QuickSettings for black or SystemUI for white background. You want black since this is a black version
8. After connecting to WIFI and testing browser, go to WIFI/Advanced and select Keep WIFI While Screen Sleeps "Always"
9. Enjoy the rom
10. Hit Thank you if you like it.
Instructions for Honami Camera
1. Put camera widget on home screen
2. Press the dinosaur
3. Press another dinosaur on bottom left
4. Choose Manual
From now on, you can start camera the usual way
Superior Auto doesn't work. If you touch SA, photo image stabilization or 2mp resolution, you will get black screen or f/c. To remedy, just exit and restart camera the usual way (by pressing camera button)

1. Did you do mount system/cache/data and format each or just data erase and settings reset? Because the latter only gets rid of user data and settings. Your system apps and many others stay and interfere.
2. What is buggy other than internal storage?
3. It says in OP "Testing" as I don't have Acro.
It may be a porting issue, therefore, any input is appreciated.
"the worst rom" : I have seen roms that initially result in no boot or bootloop and yet this one is the worst? Remember, this forum is by developers for developers, as opposed to developers for users...
Yes, mounted and formatted each.
The screen with all the apps installed had a square that was darker than the rest, and icons were outside the screen.
Didn't get a celluar connection either.
Beside that it was running Windows 8 on a IBM Personal Computer XT at times.
The worst rom I have managed to get running.

Because of all the slowdowns in kitkat, I decided to give ICS another try.
Specs:
-Based on CyanogenMod 9
-With Mackay kernel (updated to 3.0.101, updated governors & schedulers, XL RAM some other nice stuff):
https://github.com/kasperhettinga/samsung-kernel-aries/commits/mackay-cm9-2014
-TWRP 2.2.2.0
-no 720p possible, XLMem (do not ask for other flavours, I just make a one-flavour option tuned for smoothness)
Download:
https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/kasperhettinga/sgs/rom/pre-KK//
Gapps:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
This are the latest official gapps. Newer gapps can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.om/showpost.php?p=50748003&postcount=135
(I haven't tested this package, I also don't think latest gapps is relevant, as gapps get updated through Play Store anyway)
Install:
-From existing CM9: install on top + flash gapps
-From any jellybean ROM: you can try to install it on top, but it may result in bootloops, requiring flashing GB through Odin (see below for next steps). Flash ROM. Flash gapps.
-From stock Samsung GB: install CF-ROOT-CWM kernel, or any other CWM containing kernel. Flash ROM. Flash gapps.
You need to flash gapps on every new build, backup/restore of gapps does not work yet!
If you have space issues, you can use a solution to bind /datadata to /data partition:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50653795&postcount=55
THIS IS NOT AN ADVICE TO DO THIS! I do not like this solution, as it will slow down your phone (especially with the slow internal memory chip). And it goes against my lean & mean philosophy for this ROM. Therefore: please think well before doing this!

Wow, that was totally unexpected! Thank you very much! @kasper_h I was wondering: does your rom use the older partition layout, that was introduced in ics, which caused datadata to be full, or the jb one? It would be awesome if you switched to the newer partition layout *.*

You remember it wrong
ICS always had a small system & small datadata partition, both on the fast Onenand. This was actually the fastest layout I ever worked with. The changes in layout all happened in jellybean. And I will not start using jellybean partition layouts: I strive for speed and simplicity, which fits perfectly with the ICS layout.

@kasper_h I have 3 questions:
1. No 720p support at all or only 720p recording is disabled but 720p playback still works?
2. If there's no Performance->Scheduler option in ICS, can schedulers be selected using other ways?
3. zRAM , KSM are still there ? (sorry I am used to your KK kernel)

Alright then I have a problem though: I can't donwload any apps from the Play Store, also, it won't update itself. The error I get when I try to download something is 403
WOOOHOO!
My dreams came true, it actually happened!
You know, I was testing out CM9 a few times and I noticed huge improvements in smoothness and stuff like that, but the most impressive thing that I realised was that the chrome browser was not lagging at all! I think this means something!
I just have a few questions:
Is it possible to port CMA here? (it's not really necessary, I'm just wondering)
Aaand what about all those super cool features from Omni ROMs? Is there any way to port those? (again it's not necessary at all, I'm just asking)
Anyway I hope the development of this ROM will continue. Going to install this right away! :good: :good:
If you'll continue working on this ROM and we'll continue using it, we can make together the fastest and the best ROM ever made for our SGS, I believe!
The guys. Collect this ROM for Vibrant. Please!
Wow, our aging i9000 gets an encore ICS build!
What a joy! I will try!
I have a question regarding my old official CM9 nandroid backup done with Semaphore 1.3.0: is it worth trying to advanced restore only its data with Sema 1.3.0 to this ROM, and then flash this ROM over it to retain Mackay kernel back and my beloved TWRP with it?

Google Play Store is not updating itself aswell. Got the same problem with 403 . Coming from Android 4.4.2, I've flashed an Android 4.3.1 kernel, reboot to recovery, flashed CM9 twice, full wipe with system format, flashed Mackay CM9 and ICS gapps. Full wiped and system format, flashed the ROM again with gapps and the 403 error was still there. Then I've tried to go back to CM11 and the 403 error persisted.
Went back to stock GB and rooted it using Odin3 and then flashed Mackay CM9 and ICS gapps, now 403 is not showing up but another error appeared (921) and I've tried to clear data for Download Manager, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework, removed my Google Account and rebooted. Then I've re-added the Google Account and now the 403 error reappeared.
@kasper_h got any ideas ?

-CMA is not worth it, would hardly give more free RAM.
-Due to major overhauls in Android between ICS->JB->KitKat it will be nearly impossible to port anything back. Also, my motto for this ROM is lean & mean.

My play store is working and was updated automatically. I could manually install apps, and some gapps (TTS, Search) were updated fine as well. Maybe try deleting Play Store data, as that seems like the best way in any Android revision to solve Play Store issues.

That didn't work for me.
I tried to:
-delete Play Store data
-reflash rom & gapps
-manually update Play Store & then try to install apps, delete Play Store data
-etc,etc, nothing helped.
Now I'm trying another gapps package.
EDIT: Success! The updated 4.0.4 gapps package from this thread works for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294152

Why dont make 4.4 fastest :/
Rom updated. Compiled from Cyanogenmode latest sources on April 29. All fixes (battery/audio/wifi) incorporated in code before compiling, so there is no need to decompile individual apps. Also, I have changed default network from WCDM to LTE/GSM, which means that your phone should connect to LTE/4G right on reboot.
CHANGES: Numerous ranging from improving network to better ram management. If you look at commits, they go between 4 days to 6 months old.
Remember, this is not a port or cooked up rom, it has been fully compiled from sources. Enjoy.

Here is another CM10 rom for IONs with locked bootloaders. This one is based on original CM10 experimental build by Jenkins. So, it is a slightly different build from that of FXP based MrGezz's one.
Changes:
1. Rom completely rebuilt
2. All my patches (Wifi/Battery) included, so, no need to flash anything post installation
3. Google Analytics disabled
4. Newer Camera and Gallery included
5. Dock enabled in Settings (I think)
6. A few stock alarm, ringtones and notification sounds added
7. All apps re-signed with the same key to fix bootloop
BUGS: same as in all CM based roms
CREDIT: Cyanogen Team; MrGezz/Letama/Olivier for initial LB patch
INSTRUCTIONS:
Fresh Install (recommended)
1. Have JB latest Stock Kernel, Roger's Baseband in case of LT28i, Root and Recovery
2. Format System/Data/Cache in TWRP or Mount and Format the same in CWM
3. Install the ROM and Reboot. Nothing else is needed
If you are already on CM-10 by Mr.Gezz, you might be able to restore your Data partition. In this case, after
initial installation steps above:
1. Reboot, let the rom settle, then restart the phone and go to TWRP
2. Restore your previously backed up CM-10 rom: DATA ONLY!!! The only thing you might have different is if you had a different SU app, you now might have two. In this case, delete the one you are not going to use. Although, this method should work fine, the preferred way is always: Fresh Install
WARNING!!! Back up your rom prior to new install. As usual, I am not responsible for bricking your device, cold war, WW3 or total annexation of your country by mother Russia (which may happen anyway regardless of this install). If you dare to complain after this fair warning, I will forward your grievances to Mr. Putin.
P.S. I have not tested this version of the rom on the phone, but the original CM10 version by Jenkins works fine with LB patch. Also, I have confirmed that re-signing all system apps gets rid of bootloops when patched framework and settings apps are incorporated in the rom. But again, don't forget to back up your current rom.

Thanks for the browser.
Had problems with the CM file manager. After transferring to system/app and changing permissions, the file manager force-closed. And from this point on, it FC'd every time I tried to launch it. And also started getting random calendar app FC toast when I wasnt trying to run the calendar app.
I re-flashed the rom and got this done with root explorer and now there are no FC's.

You do need to instal the original web browser unless you use something else. Google Analytics? You decompile an app, go to the corresponding XML file and change "true" to "false." Or if you want to delete it you delete several files...

For future reference, please tell me the right way to set permissions. Would rebooting into recovery and setting permissions this way be safer? I don't have a strong background in these things but I am happy to follow instructions.
Also, I installed xperia_launcher3.apk that I found on xda. Its a light 1MB launcher and sort of gives me best of both worlds in terms of sony appearance. Do you recommend making this a system app and removing trebuchet or will trebuchet just be sleeping while xperia launcher is running as the default?

Don't ever fix permissions on custom roms for locked bootloaders, you will never boot. With the new launcher installed, try to freez trebuchet, if everything works, then delete it. Yes, it makes sense to put the launcher in system with right permissions.

Then how do you fix permissions on a custom ROM? I've found that fixing permissions every few months fixes forced close (FC) problems.

You can't fix permissions on a custom rom for locked bootloaders. If you don't install rougue apps, there is no need to fix permissions. If you experience f/cs, you should clear settings in individual apps. If that doesn't help, you could try to restore system partition of your rom (of course it needs to be backedup first).
~EDITED~
I know mastergrillo already has a thread similar to this, but I didn't see an option that had everything I wanted. I'm just sharing the version I made for myself in case anyone needs it. Flash at your own risk.
This is simply a stock Samsung Lollipop 5.0 rom (N900TUVUFOB6) for the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 (N900T) that includes the following features:
Features:
Rooted (SuperSU and Busybox included)
KNOX removed (it will still trip KNOX 0x1, but it won't annoy you about a security issue)
Deodexed (makes the system easier to MOD and is currently required for installing the Xposed framework)
Zipaligned (optimizes apk alignment to reduce memory usage)
Rom based /etc/init.d script support (doesn't require a kernel with init.d support, but it will still work fine if your kernel does [scripts shouldn't get run twice])
Untouched stock Samsung kernel
It was not debloated because what's bloat to me may be useful to someone else and vice versa. You can easily debloat it yourself using Titanium Backup or a debloating script.
Nothing else was touched, and all T-Mobile based features like wifi calling work fine.
Issues:
No issues that I know of.
Installation instructions
Note: This rom does not include the lollipop bootloader or modem, so it's recommended to update both of those first if you haven't already.
Do a full backup
Flash with TWRP recovery (other custom recoveries may work, but it hasn't been tested)
Wipe dalvik cache, system, data, and cache partitions before installing. You probably don't have to wipe the data partition if you're coming from the original Samsung Lollipop 5.0 (this will preserve your apps and settings), but I haven't tested it.
May take 10 to 20 minutes for first boot (it will stay on the t-mobile logo for a while). Just be patient.
Stagefright vulnerability fix
There's a patch available to fix the stagefright vulnerabilities (credit goes to mastergrillo for this). The patch can be installed with TWRP immediately after installing the rom (you don't need to reboot first).
Other MODs that are compatible with this ROM (not included)
External sdcard write fix (allows apps to write to the external sdcard)
Android 6.0 Marshmallow boot animation (here's a video of what it looks like)
Xposed framework
Note: Xposed is still in alpha status for Lollipop, so some modules may still have issues.
First install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk (or newer) from here
And then flash xposed-v75-sdk21-arm-arter97-snapdragon.zip (or newer) from here using TWRP. The important parts of the filename that should stay the same are "sdk21" (for Lollipop 5.0.x) and "snapdragon" (for our chipset).
If you have any questions or issues with Xposed, please ask them in arter97's Xposed thread.

@dirtybudha
The data service problem has been fixed in version 1.1 (OP updated with link).
The bug happened because I forgot to include the CSC files from the original Samsung rom. I didn't notice the bug because I manually flashed the CSC files after flashing the rom, which fixed the problem for me.
Anyways, I reflashed the new version myself using the flashing instructions in the OP to verify that it was corrected. It should work fine now.
..
Thanks! Will flash and report back.

Hey, I just tested bluetooth on my phone, but I can't replicate your problem. It's working fine for me. You may want to try clearing the caches if you haven't already. I did a full wipe (system, data, cache, and dalvik cache) when flashing version 1.1.
How did you flash version 1.1? Was it a clean install? Can you please tell me what you wiped? Have you tried this bluetooth device on the stock lollipop before?
If anyone else has tried bluetooth, please post your results.
Thanks
And can you please tell me the device you tried to pair with the phone, or would bluetooth just not turn on at all when you tried to enable it?
Edit:
btw.. are you running the lollipop bootloader and modem?
It was a clean install, wiped caches, data, system. I do this ever time i flag a ROM. I do have the bootloader and modem for Lollipop. I'm currently running stock Lollipop, and have been for a while.
I was trying to pair my Asus Zenwatch. Problem is that the Bluetooth Jay wouldn't turn on at all.
Let me try again. Could have been a bad a download or the moon wasn't in the right place last night.
Update: it was a bad download, apparently. Seems like everything is working so far.
About to backup everything and flash Xposed.
BOOM, shalakalaka
I've actually been looking for exactly this. Being that it is bone stock is it safe to assume that Wifi calling and everything else works?
If you read through the OP you will see that this ROM is almost entirely stock for the T-Mobile Note 3. That means WiFi Calling works. I just turned it on and everything is in order.

Xposed took some thinking, all anyone needs to do is flash the Alpha 4 file. So far it shows that it is up and running. Although my multi window manager wasn't able to work, it may not be compatible with lollipop. I'll have to go through and test some of the apps later. I just left the FC Dallas soccer game and I'm headed home to watch the Dallas Cowboys play.
Great work! I, as well as the community, appreciate your contribution.

I believe you also have to install arter97's xposed-v71-sdk21-arm-arter97-V6-snapdragon.zip in order for xposed to work properly on Samsung roms.

Nothing was done except deodexing it, which is what is needed for arter97's xposed files to work. When I mentioned that you'd still need to install arter97's stuff, I thought that would be clear (but I may have added that after you downloaded it).
I didn't want to include arter97's xposed files in case some people didn't want it, it's still in alpha status stability wise and gets updated often, and it can also easily be added by flashing arter97's latest file. I simply mentioned xposed ready, so people would know that it could be installed.
I've updated the OP to make it clearer.
Touche.
Well it worked great!
