[CONFIRMED] Xperia M won't be receiving KitKat update - Sony Xperia M

I just found this post which has been posted a month after the release of 4.3 update.
It states there that Xperia SP, C, L, M, and V won't be receiving KitKat update, as confirmed by the Head Engineer at Sony Care, India.
It may or may not be true as Xperia SP is having KitKat under investigation.
For more info, check out the post and tell me what you think about it.

Until the Xperia M software update page (the Sony one) shows 4.3 as the final version there is still hope that we will get another update.

I know how you feel, locked bootloader is very annoying!
But it kept locked for a reason...
That's why I do not buy phones from a network provider, just from a normal mobile store.
Try to enjoy stock fw with some kitkat mods, it is still okay.

I'm glad to let you know that there's been a change in the plans regarding this. This is planned to be fixed in the next software update that will be available shortly.

I see above there are 'indications' updates are still forthcoming.

Spare a thought for the Xperia L and Xperia C owners who have a final version of Android 4.2
and even the dashed dreams of the Xperia SP owners now confirmed as a final version of Android 4.3
I still think the Xperia M is a great little phone and it'll be a keeper.
Admittedly mine is rooted, with Link2SD and FolderMount, such that the internal 4GB of NAND memory(2GB user partitioned) is bypassed for a high speed read/write (45MB read) card.
So don't cry for me Marge and Tina.

That is Bad.. :crying:
So I have noob Question
My Brother phone come with lock bootloader even any sim working on it..
If I flash another firmware will it allow the unlock bootloader..

Difference from Xperia S

It's amazing how this phone has the same specs hardware wise (CPU, GPU, ram) as the Xperia S but to me the experience is sooo much better on the ion. The screen is loads better on the ion. Blacks are deeper and colors are more vibrant. The speed and smoothness of the phone is also better on the ion.
Even the camera, which from I have seen specs wise should be the same, is by far and away much better than my Xperia S. Focuses a lot quicker just feels like it responds better.
Anyone else had experience with both these phones and notice the same? Not sure if they polished the android 2.3.7 more on the ion or what but it definitely feels smoother.

what about HDMI output in the Ion ? I saw some reports of lag video and lower performance on the S when using HDMI output.
what about HDMI output and Ion performance ? any change? is that smooth?
I was about to buy the S early this month and decided to hold a while to look for the ion. still not sure, but seems the ion should be better somehow...
just wondering now if should go with the international version or get an AT&T and unlock it...

Been using an unlocked Xperia S for a while and other androids (Dell Streak Motorola Atrix, Xperia Play 4G) before that and tethered them. You need to use the right apns and have a non AT&T rom. Never gotten the message from them and I still have my unlimited plan.

as dim as before, and the battery saver widget doesn't work correctly.
however, i recommend updating to ATT ICS rom simply because under call settings, there is a hearing aids option which hugely buffs the call volume. well we don't have hearing problem but maybe japanese ears are just too darn good

Well.. I remember removing bloatware using titanium. But i think what cause the error is the rom manager that i flash before. Maybe because of the missing bloatware trigger the update. I donno. I'm planning to back to stock and then root back.

Which to get? Xperia TX LT29i (Bond phone) or Ion LT28h?

Both phones have great specs and are within $100 of each other. Found some on Ebay and other online retailers for decent orices new. What would you current owners of either handset recommend? When I get one of these the first thing I'm going to do is root and probably just enjoy the phone as is (let's see how long that lasts). I really want the new Z in white but can't wait around and need a phone by next week.
From what I could gather
LT29i

Comes in white, black and another color
Removable battery
Better battery
Better processor
Screen seems shorter from all the review videos I've seen online.
No capacitive buttons and uses the on screen ones which take up screen space
LT28h
Only comes in black and red (shame no white)
Taller viewing screen
Capacitive buttons (I like this)
Very similar to the LT29i performance
I'm probably missing something but that's why I'm asking real world users for their opinions. Thanks!!
Obviously Xperia TX because it's a newer device and will be supported by Sony further and ion's support will end soon.

You should wait for the xperia z is my opinion, but choosing ion is more budgetfriendly, almost same performance but a matter of design would make me choose ion anyway since that is a top priority for me, but the capacitive buttons isn't the best on either ion or s

You definitely made the right choice IMO. The S4 devices that I have used (One X, 8x and Atrix HD) have run rings around the Ion that I'm currently using as far as responsiveness goes. UI lag should be minimal. I actually prefer Sony's Android interface to HTC's or Motorola's, that I have used. The Bond phone should serve you well.

Yeah I was truly on the fence. Honestly I hated mostly the fact it only came in black. I told myself the next phone I got no matter which one, it would have to be in white. That and the LT29i was about $100+ but I'm going off contract once my T-Mobile is done in June. Probably with AT&T's Straight Talk as they have the best coverage where I now located.

I actually stumbled across a posting from someone across the pond who rooted the most recent firmware. I personally didn't follow the all in one thread because it was way to confusing for me, so I just started experimenting on my own and it worked. My boot loader is unlocked by the way.
I will locate the post I used and link you later.

After I unlocked the LT's bootloader through Sony I flashed the TX kernel in the thead below and after that I was rooted. Note my phone came from factory with 7.0.A.3.212. Hope that helps.

[DISCUSSION] No any CM10.1 or higher for ion?

As I know that the fw of ion will stop at 6.2.B.0.211.There are some bugs in this fw.At the time only semc team make a test rom but there is a problem of the baseband.I have tested and found some issue of the kernel. The semc gave up to fix the bugs?
Look like ion development nearly goes to the end..Now I'm start thinking to move another device next time..Any suggestion what model should I take?..

If you have nothing useful to add about his question, simply don't post. Other phones brand have their problems and so does Sony.
I believe Sony will release a new update for Xperia Ion soon. Traditionally, Xperia Ion gets the update several weeks after Xperia S.

No need to panic man, the update has only been released two days. There's no source saying the update isn't coming, and so far the Ion has always received the update a bit after the rest. So keep the rant for when you're sure nothing's coming.
