i just received my M8 today. i know it is an import european version, not the official dutch version
as i turned it on it was on dutch language but there was no installer, so just to make sure i did a factory reset. during installation i didn't see Dutch as language (a lot of othere languages but no Dutch)
any idea what happened and how i can get my language back to dutch?
at the shop where i bought it they told me that i couldn't slect my language because there was no Dutch simcard inserted. i don't think that is correct is it? i havent been able to try as i don't have my nano-sim yet.

Hi there,
I am about to pick up a Dopod c720w for 2500 RMB here in China, it's a Taiwanese version with no English.
My question is -- is there some kind of ROM I could install that would give me dual English/Chinese support? Or some other method? I don't want to buy the unit if it's going to be forever stuck in Chinese...
Thanks!
Matt.
*Edit* - Also, I just received a T-Mobile MDA Mail which was a mistake, because it doesn't support WiFi.... the vendor switched me away from the c720w because it didn't have English (and he wasn't even aware that the MDA Mail doesn't have Wifi). So, he'll switch me back to the c720w, but only if it is possible for me to get it running in English (with Chinese support, preferably, so that I can easily view / have friends here type stuff in).
The Dopods in Singapore are Eng+Chinese (config either or)
maybe u can try the ROMs from DopodAsia
I have a Taiwanese one I bought in Taipei. It has both languages installed.
When you CID unlock the phone you can install the rom you want.
mine are hongkong version and support both english and chinesse
try to go to setting press 7 (more) and then 5 (regional setting)
the first row is regional setting and i think it' changeable
those with english + chinese, is it a CHT rom or WWE rom?
Hello!
I recently purchased myself an HTC Desire in Sweden. It appears though that the retailer had imported it from either Spain or Portugal since the documentation was all in Spanish. When I turned on the phone with my SIM card it asked, in Swedish, if I wanted to copy the contacts and so forth from the SIM.
When the set up guide then started it was all back to English and when I wanted to pick a language, Swedish was not available (It had English, French, Spanish, and some other(s), can't remember exactly). I like English and all, but I cannot make do without Swedish when composing an SMS/text message for instance.
The phone obviously got some Swedish language support since it asked me to copy the contacts and whatnot when it started up. To clarify: I need to change locale and language on the phone. So, is there some way I can "unlock" the language or can I perhaps download and install the language package somewhere? (I do not want to root my phone.)
Thanks in advance!
Solved by installing More Locale 2.
I all
I have a htc wildfire S "Europe" but in languages isn't available the portuguese portugal language is there a way to update the rom with portuguese language
best regards
Hi,
I had the same problem, just purchased one and wanted to use my mothertongue ...
The Italian Lang was on the device, I checked the ROM installed and it was a generic EU. However it was not visible in the selection of the languages.
The language selection shows on this firmware ONLY the languages for the country where the SIM card belongs to. I installed in an Italian sim card and the phone magically switched on ITA (after prompting, sim card changed etc etc)
No need for languange packs, however I searched the internet and the market before getting to you. There are no language packs to change the os language in android. If the pack is installed in the rom it's ok otherwise there is nothing that can be installed via the market. Adding a language to the OS would require to ROOT into the device and write into /system folder (which is not possible on a STOCK image). Currently Android up to version 2.3 does not foresee any language pack addition, it is not a feature of the OS.
Change HTC Wildfire S language
Hi,
Do you mean that my Wildfire S should propose more language when installing a SIM card from another country ?
Now it shows only English and Chinese.
Thanks.
Yes, it propose you the language according to your sim card.. put in a portuguese sim card
I have a similar problem.
I bought a phone and I don't know what is the rom, but I suspect it is Asian (although I bought it in England). When I try to change the language, only appears English and to Chinese or similar (I can't precise, because I don't understand it).
I tried to put the SIM, but still the same.
I contacted the HTC chat support, they told me to install an app from Android market, MoreLocale2, but nothing happened: always the same 3 idioms.
I'm looking for a way to put Portuguese, maybe replacing the rom or something.
If anyone could help, I would appreciate very much.
If you have European version, try to install an application from the market: MoreLocale2 and select Portuguese. Maybe you're luckier then me.
after install morelocale2 you have to go to morelocale2 and select portuguese, in "original phone configuration" it will keep the default but the phone wil switch to the language selected in morelocale2.
it work for me
There's no way to work with me...
There's still only English and Chinese.
morelocale2 worked perfect for me ;]
Worked for me too! Portuguese for HTC Buzz (Wildfire).

m.oliveira: installing morelocale2 won't get you portuguese on the htc available languages. They will remain chinese and english.
But after installing morelocale2, click on morelocale2 icon and select portuguese.
After that all will be changed to portuguese, in spite of in the system language the available options remain chinese and portuguese.
It won't change available languages on the languages list, the new available languages will only appear on morelocale2 app!
Try this and let us know!
Did its WWE RUU ?
Or to be more focused.. there is hebrew language inside?
Oh, I wish I read this before I installed a custom rom today.
But no it was not wwe, it only let me chose from a few asian locations with english, chinese, and it had vietnamese and thai keyboard installed. Don't think it had hebrew, but hopefully someone else can confirm what I seem to remember.
Why you disapointed ?
I don't get it... I'm not disappointed
Hello everybody
I received an HTC X One as a gift and it comes from Malaysia.
I do not see the French language in the language options.
What procedure must be done to add other languages and mostly French?
For information, I didn't upgrade the software of my phone yet and i didn't use my french Provider SIM neither.
Thank you in advance for your help
Mankaps
Chances are you have a non-EU handset - which won't have French on it. Only options you have are...
1. Return it and get an EU model, or
2. Try MoreLocale from the Market
Hi EddyOS.
I will try Morelocale.
Thanks for your help
