Hey guys i want to root my g3 using purple drake and was wondering if in the same process it allows you to flash a custom recovery (TRWP?) or do i have to do something else to get it? Also do i have to download any lg software to my computer? i cannot seem to find it in the thread if we actually do need it.
Thanks guys!

I'm sure you already read the op from top to bottom but you must have missed some parts. You should probably read it again everything you need to know is in the op.

No yea i read it completely now i had missed the part where it has the lg drivers. My question now is that when i run purpledrake am i just rooting it or will it give me the option of flashing twrp in it?
Just to make sure, the only steps involved in rooting my phone is installing the drivers, running the purple drake file and putting my phone in ptp mode during the process right? sorry for being a noob i just want to make sure im not turning my 600$ phone into a brick lol

okay, okay even though that's in the op as well yes it gives the option to install twrp. If I was you I would pick the option that installs twrp and the edited boot.img also if you have problems installing twrp you can just use the twrp installer from the play store. You might want to do that regardless so you can have the updated twrp.
*edit*
yes from what I remember you have the correct process for purple drake

Every time i install any of the custom rom on my Hong Kong GT-N7105; the screen flickers on the Samsung intro screen and then it goes dark. If I press the buttons a few times it'll finally come on, but it does it every reboot. It also doesn't recognize the SD card and corrupts it. I'll finally get aggravated & go back to stock. What can I do different?
Another question. Why do I have to wipe & reset settings every time before it will reboot on stock after I install it with Odin?
I got an answer 4 u bro. Dont root it again and stop doing it, ok. If u don't know what you doing, then don't do it. It's 4 your own good peace-out

Well, that's about what I decided to do. I don't like stock 4.1.1 looking like Gingerbread. I sure had a lot better luck doing my Note 1 that is when i stayed away from the D2att Roms.
Make sure you are installing a custom rom for the N7105 because the roms for the N7100 don't work on the N7105.

I try to use ones that have t0lte in the file name.
I have the same issue like yours few days ago but i manage to solve it. The problem lies with the root file. May i know what file did you use to root your phone? I use cf-auto-note2 on my N7100 but after changing it to CWM.... it works like charm. Do try it out.
Previously... after root or flash custom rom, my screen flickered. After changing to the right root file.... it is solved 100%

Well, I tried to install the Paranoid JB again and it flickered on the boot again and goes black. I couldn't wake it up til I reinstalled stock again. I may just have to bite the bullet and run stock.
I haven't seen a clear answer on this, so does anybody know what root methods still work after the new update? If they all still do, is there anything I should do differently in the rooting process?
You have to wait till one of the methods gets an upgrade
BAD ASS G3
Well seeing as how the d851 boot loader is shipping unlocked from T-Mobile I think it would be pretty safe to say that once you manage to properly install the 10m OTA, you would simply flash TWRP from purpledrake in fastboot and from there flash supersu.

Purpledrake probably replaced the M boot.img with the C boot.img. If it did that means your back on the C kernel and if it didn't you no longer have the modded disabled root checker.

Does this phone have a root indicator like the G2 did? In download mode I believe it was. And also in about phone it would say modified or something.

Using the phone dialer pad enter 3845#*850#. (Relace 850 with your variant). This allows you to enter the hidden menu. Look for LG RCT tag and display result. The content of the file will indicate whether G3 is rooted or not.

You asked for input, and I gave you one. I told you the one difference between using the original Bump installation proces, and using a noob tool like flashify that does everything for you.
There is no difference between the two, they do the same stuff after all.

My original question was if there was a difference between using one over the other; If BUMP did something Flashify couldn't or vice versa. Not which one was the easiest to do or is "noob" friendly. Why go out of my way to use ADB on my PC when I can just download the TWRP img to my phone and flash it from the phone itself? Either way, this has been solved and I now have TWRP. Thanks for your input, anyways.
Hey guys so i rooted my G3 using purple drake a while back and i remember not being able to create a back up it just stays in TWRP recovery forever. I was wondering if somone could point me in the right direction here because im a little skeptical about trying to flash a rom and my recovery not working.
I am still on D85110c so im thinking that maybe when i rooted it TWRP wasnt fully supported?
Thanks guys
No problem with twrp and 10c. Do you follow purple Drake steps correctly?

Hello. I have looked at the forum for how to install twrp on my Lg G3 D855 lollipop.
First I have rooted my phone withh this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951, that worked fine now I read that I have to go to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845 tread to install twrp, but I can't seams to figure this out.
1: Shuld I first unroot my phone and then use that other guide insted of the first one I used.
2: will the other guide then reset my phone so it will be like a new rom installation or what.
if some could clarify for me in "how to" install twrp on my phone or maby have a link where it already says how to.

Will this reset my phone like a new rom or what, I tried the one i Linked earlier but that only gave me root but not the recovery, as what I can see when I try to enter recovery is says if I want to factory reset my phone and I was affraid to click yes there.
I'm also trying to figure out how to instal TWRP onto a LG G3 I'm coming from a LG G2 and it was a whole lot simple. So do I download the script onto my sd card then launch the exe from there? Thanks for the help!!

it will only install recovery, it will not reset it like new. Its a very simple one click script.
Ok, I ran the one click that I linked and that seemed to install recovery, I didn't know how to enter it the correct way.
So I ran the script on my D852 all went good but when I try to boot into recovery mode by holding down button and power button all I get is red light blue light. Then pull the battery and it boots back into stock. Weird...does it hurt anything to try to run the script again?
Thanks for the help!
