Should I root my new phone. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Just switch to T mobile from sprint with the jump program. My question is should I root the phone or wait for the note 4, since it is coming out in a few months. And if I root which is the most stable Rom out here for this phone. Thanks guys for any help.

Sure if you want the N4, otherwise no. But that's just common sense.

I bought my Note2 in October. Week after Christmas I got my Nexus 4, February I sold my Nexus 4. The Note2 is a better device all around. Sure the Nexus 4 gets the latest Android release but it will never have many of the features of the Note2. You want the latest Android features, install Cyanogenmod or one of it's off shoots. i find that CM is a better package then what what Google releases.
Don't get me wrong, for the price the Nexus4 is pretty good phone but I much prefer my Note2.
Note 2 is better in every way. Battery screen etc. Nexus 4 just has more development and faster ota

Why such a lack of 4.4 Roms?

Cm11, etc Verizon Note 2 has it, why don't we? Be nice to have more options...

I counted 6 threads for 4.4 roms in this forum, including CM11. Not bad for a device that just officially got 4.3 a week or so ago.

So im geussing...

So im guessing were not gonna see a KitKat TW rom for our still wonderful Note 2 device? Pretty sure samsung already has it but are just not releasing it on purpose so we just buy the note 3 or s5.

It is really poking an open wound when I go into the the other Note 2 variant forums and see all these kit kat tw roms and themes and so forth. I get so depressed. I need to flash somethinggggggggg!! Lol

Recently flashed W03 SlimKat and it's awesome. Fantastic KK Rom.
International version is getting it now..all the carrier versions are always going to be late/delayed.....I'm just waiting for a rooted version of the OTA to come out.
Its not up to samsung. Updates are from Google and the carrier.

Correction: Samsung still needs to add Touchwiz and the "S" features to whatever Google produces way before the carriers even get to cripple features by adding bloatware.
Yes, as you said, samsung adds whatever they want, then at&t decides if a phone model gets an update, so, as others have said, its up to the carrier. Google decides if the processor of the phone continues to get support.

I realize there are Kit Kat roms already but those are ASOP not Touchwiz roms. But thank you for your input.

I've interpreted this to mean that you are saying that the official release is the 26th, but a leak may appear days before.
Does anyone know if DG tweeted anything to say otherwise?
If we get kitkat I could definitely hold onto my Note 2 for another year and not use my upgrade yet.

I suggest S5 because its features are more better then note 3
^^^with all that being said, you still can't beat the convenience of having the S-Pen for the Note3

fast some what stock look rom

Can someone suggest a rom for me to use one that is fast and somewhat stock looking with tethering hot spot not restricted by t-mobile. Thank you. SM-N900T
Closest to stock with tethering would be Effortless ROM v6

If you are referring to stock android I would recommend slimkat. I can use tethering without having to use any agent switching or VPN service. I tether to my surface pro 3 all day and never have any issues and my hotspot usage is still showing 0 hotspot used. Been using it for about 4 or 5 months. I never have any luck with ROMs based off of touch wiz. I always had to use a user agent or VPN and my hotspot usage still counted up with those. I tried just about each ROM . Slim Kat seems to work best for me especially since I don't use any touch whiz features.

MIUI v6

Well I have been playing with the MIUI V6 port found on the n7100 and n7105 (international note 2's). I have a working version on my l900 but it is also a gsm modified and runs on cricket (att) network. I know that the touchwiz ports from the international has issues with mobile data on sprint but since this is aosp (4.4.4) I am pretty sure it will work fine for sprint users. This is a very early (beta) rom that I am using but if anyone is will to test on sprint network let me know. I have some work to do to fix a couple of device specific issues but should have a tester in a day or two.
How's MIUI running on GSM?
I will test may take awhile though swamped at work and it is my anniversary this weekend so I am not sure when I'll have time.

I am running it now. There is only one big issue of clock app not working.

Well 5.6.1 came out and so far it is running great. I will do up a sprint/verizon build in a couple of days. Look for it in your pm. You will be the only sprint tester I am going to use so I will be dependent on your feedback.

I look forward to it.
A couple shots of power usage with modified plasma 2.56 for miui. The big drop on reboot is me updating from 5.5.23 to 5.6.1 miui.

No worries here. I'm still working on rooting and porting it to my Boost Mobile account. So looking forward to having MIUI on this beauty.
How's the testing on this coming along?
I wouldn't mind testing v6 a bit. Does mobile (sprint0 work?
I don't have a tester ready yet. Also while I have a sprint note 2 I dont have sprint service.
