10j and keeps asking me to select Home - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I long press the home key it takes me to Google Now, if I then press the home screen again it asks me to Select Home, which is select as "Home" and is ticked as the default. No matter what I do I can't get it to stop that happening.
any suggestions on how to clear this?

I'm getting the same problem and I'm on 10g firmware.

did you flash or did you got updated to 10j, if you flashed you SHOULD have done a cse flash and there woudn't be any issues now ....

Full cse flash for me, only thing I did afterwards was to do a restore with the built in lg backup and restore function. I heard that was safe to use and normal practice to restore all my apps.

Are you sure Settings->Privacy->Factory Reset doesn't work? I've used it twice already and it did the job.
Anyway, try Home + Volume Down(not Up), then power on.

If you have the key combination right, it should give you instructions for a factory reset as soon as the phone turns on.

Should be the left and right buttons on button of display and then power on.
Remove and reinsert battery before doing this.

You must flash doomkernel for xrecovery.
For doing that you must unlock bootloader.

Hold back and menu, then press power briefly until it powers on and then release power, don't let go of the back and menu buttons until the phone powers on, it should say safe mode down the bottom left, then go ahead and factory reset the phone.
Hope this helps.

Hello, I had this problem before. You have to press the volume down key lots of times (or the volume up key, I forget which one). This will make the back button work again

You have to make the cursor "wrap" 3 times (I think it is 3) and then the back button will be enabled again. By wrap I mean move past the top menu choice or past the bottom menu choice.

Power Button cuts device off on 1 press

Really trying to figure this out. Every time i Press the Power Button my phone immediately shuts off instead of going to the option to reboot or screenshot. It was fine earlier but now I cant use the shortcut to reboot into recovery or just reboot the phone + the lockscreen does not show up after 3 or 4 min after the phone is off (and yes the phone isn't set to go off in 10 min, just 1) can somebody please help or point me to a thread that shows me what the deal is? Thank you so much!

ROM/kernel you are running. Also pressing the power button IMMEDIATELY shuts the phone, keeping the power button pressed brings up the reboot menu.
Jedix20 Rom and the Stock kernel it came with. When I press the power button and the screen turns off. When I press it again it doesnt go to the lockscreen. And if I hold it just for 2 seconds instead of the pop up option to reboot the phone it just shuts the phone off. Normally it takes like 4-5 seconds after I hold it for it to completly power off. Now it doesnt do it anymore. I tried reverting back to the Stock GB through odin and it still doesnt work. I thought it was perhaps something wrong with the system files so I tried factory resetting JediX20. No good. I booted into download mode and installed stock through odin. No good. And I Installed Jedix20 back again. I had a factory test message with some box pop up on the screen and stayed primaraly on the home screen.. it looked like a debug mode. I downloaded Titanium and deleted those files and the factory mode with the phone information vanished. Im just trying to figure out why wont the lockscreen appear anymore or the options to boot to recovery, reboot, airplane mode ext. Wont appear.

It may be a hardware issue, as it is also happening on the stock rom. IMHO I would take it back to stock (remember to reset the flash count) and take it your carrier. Keep in mind that your phone has a 1 year warranty since the day it was delivered to the first customer.
Not really a possibility. I bought this outright and its on straight talk. Ive flashed pac 4.3 and it works like a charm. It only happens on touchwiz but why? I have no clue. It was fine untill a couple days ago. I know that since it did work on an aosp based rom that the problem lies somewhere in the touchwiz roms files.

Phone is in factory mode. Either your efs is corrupted or the phone has detected a crash somewhere else. Just google factory mode to see how to get out of it..usually by if you backed up your efs you could restore them and reboot

I flashed back to pacman 4.3 for a few days and it worked fine....then I reflashed jedix20 after 2 days and it was back to normal. Weird though. Im sure it was the efs thing you mentioned though

[Q] Reset this tab?

Hi guys, This come into our shop the customer had forgotten the screen lock password.
When I go into recovery to do a factory reset / wipe , it wont let me select it, it "jumps" past it when moving the bar up and down. The bar only moves if I "double click" the vol +/- , but it goes past factory reset.
Tried going in with SRS root but still no luck.
Any ideas?

Watch THIS video about this issue.
This is for CWM but it is the same issue with stock recovery.
Just use the volume up/down and even if the highlight doesn't change, hit the power button to choose the option you want.
Superb.
You were absolutely right, that worked perfectly.
Many thanks.

How to boot to recovery

Any way to without adb?

I've just been doing it through Titanium Backup. It's in the menu options.

Another option if you're rooted is G3 TweaksBox. It has an option to enable the advanced reboot menu.

If you are rooted download quick boot from market. It will have many options and one is booting into recovery.
I haven't done it on the G3, but I always used GooManager for that. I'm sure Flashify and others have that option.

How to Enter Recovery mode in LG G3:
First Switch off the phone. For that, press the power button and choose “power off”.
Wait for the mobile shuts down.
Now press and hold the “Volume Down + Power” button together untill you get the LG logo on your screen.
It may take up to 2 to 3 seconds.
Now release those buttons.
And again press those buttons for few seconds untill the recovery screen appears.
Now you will get the screen.

My solution for that has always been to make a TWRP back up, which I've already done, then move it to my PC and perform a factor reset, then moving the back up back to the phone.

I know this post is quite old, but for those unaware, if you have TWRP installed and need to manually access Recovery Mode; you will get a prompt to Factory Reset your phone. Just click "Yes" and it will reboot the phone back into TWRP. I have done this several times and my phone has never been factory reset.
Just thought I'd share!

This only works if you have TWRP installed via the Bump! method! If you do this if you don't have TWRP installed, you're going to wipe your system
If you want to get to the stock recovery/download mode follow these instructions: http://www.ninjaromeo.com/download-mode-lg-g3/
