[Q] HTC M8 back problem - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,could anyone please tell me what are the white spots on the back of my htc m8 and any method to make them disappear?

I too have these white spots at bottom

Only thing i can think of is that it's the coating that's coming off by wearage ?!

Do you use yours without a case on it ? Hmm, mine has them too. Just clean it with a glass cleaner. You're good to go ! :good:

Changing HTC One X housing from Grey to White

I bought a grey One X, but decided that I should have bought the white, and so I purchased the rear casing and sim card tray from ebay.
All installed perfectly and my phone is working without issues, however the thing that did hit me as strage was after rebooting device with the white casing on, the handset reported a software update for the device (not an app update) of which I said ok.
Can't see any difference in what it reports in About this phone in regards to Software, and so was wondering is it possible that by changing the rear housing it also changes the CID of the device ?
Using CID reports HTC__001 ??
I know this is probably a newb question, however this phone is my first serious Android device other than my old Nook Color.... So if i'm making gaf's please excuse them.
Thank you.
Cool to know that you can change the outlook like that. Might want to buy one back just in case i want to try grey or white gets dents. Thanks!

Could you please post a few pictures of how your phone looks with the new housing? Preferably from the front, rear and side.
I've been considering something similar as well. Glad to know it can be done.

I'll upload a few for you shortly. Though it just looks like a white one X
Here you go folks.
Basically genuine HTC housing replacement, very simple to do. You have to order the sim card seperatly so make sure you order one at same time.
The phone pops out of the housing with a little bit of prying and put a little bit of sticky tape on the volume rocker and power button so that they dont drop on the floor when you remove your phone from the housing as otherwise you could end up missing a little part.
The trickiest part is popping out the speaker from the old housing and dropping it into the new. I used a pin to pop it out of the hole it sits in and then just dropped it into the new housing.
Squeeze your phone in and it will click into place. remove the tape on the outside holding the volume rocker and power button and hey presto new phone
And if I can do it, anyone can
Cool, thank you!
Is there any tutorial for the replacing?
How much did you payed for the case and the sim tray?
Link to where can I buy one for my one x?

Also note the back cover has self adhesive areas that need exposing before installing, and the inside of the camera lens has a blue plastic protection film that needs removing. Because it is clear plastic covering the self adhesive areas it can be missed and your back cover will not be fitted as well as the original.
Self adhesive areas are:
1) The whole area that essentially covers the battery has a plastic film cover that needs removing to exposed the adhesive.
2) The USB hole has a raised support that has a small plastic strip that needs removing to exposed the adhesive
3) At the bottom left and right sides of the back cover inside edge are small sticky areas, again the plastic film needs removing.
In terms of software updates because the back is changed, it was just a co-incidence, the back cover has no intelligence in it to alter serial numbers etc.

Phil

Yep great advice
It's easy to see where the self adhesive areas are simply because of the bright blue sticky plastic that was on my white case/housing inside.
Re: software update. I suspected it was just a co-incidence but wasn't 100% sure.

Yes I would think the white is much more obvious. If you have a new grey back, the film doesn't stand out at all.

Where did you order your parts? On ebay I could only find parts for e720 (or something like that, the chinese one x)
If you are opening your device, I would highly recommend that you read the Official HTC WiFi antenna repair guide as you might want to add those strips in to strengthen the contacts.

Bought the phone on impulse second hand for a good price,. So saved €289.99 off the regular sim-free price on expansys.... When there was that much of a saving, I wasn't going to argue about the color
(checks Expansys pricing, actually it was €309.99 price difference between what I paid for the grey and the white sim-free model there)....
Just a bit of info for you regarding opening up your One X (housing removal). This is part of an email reply that I received from HTC warranty in the UK, when I asked about opening up my One X to check something.
We would not advise you to take the phone apart as this will invalidate your warranty.

HTC One X screen vs Knife :) Amazing resistance!!! + Screen protection tested

Hi everyone!!!
I have changed my HTC One X screen because of some issues, and I have kept it to test its resistance
I have been so surprise because it's just so amazing!
Don't forget to thanks and thumbs up if you like
Tested:
- Screen vs Pen
- Screen vs Keys
- Screen vs Screwdriver
- Screen vs Scissors
- Screen vs Knife
And the results is just awesome, we don't need screen protection ^^
Stop speaking, let's go to watch!!
Enjoy
Moreover if you want to compare the original screen S-LCD2 vs my LCD screen replacement, here is the review:

How about a power drill ??
Why would you get LCD instead of SLCD? They put that in the repair center? As I left my phone for repair and screen replacement today cause of yellow spot, I'm just curious. If they put LCD instead of SLCD in mine I'm sure that I wont accept it

tomorrow is my phone back at repair center because of the issues...if they put again a lcd only in i go to insurance because it was a insurance "repair" and i then i want the money for my phone or completely new phone ( the hox) ....my wifi got so worse i can only use it with a cover and between cover and phone with a 5 cent piece and yes the middle line isnt working and compared to my moms hox is really bad! -.- in this case i don't want to have this phone! ... -.-
Very nice video thank you!
I didn't do the tests you did but I'm very happy with the screen.
It's the first device I use without a screen protector, 6 months and not the tiniest scratch.
I've been with my hox on the beach as well, curious about the sand test.
Would be cool if it can resist.

And the reason sand scratches the HOX is because it has a MOHS level of 9.

Broken LCD?

Hello Guys.
I dropped my phone today and when I lifted it up my screen was blue/black. I pulled the battery out and turned it on. Most of the screen is black and can't see anything. There are strips of blue pixels here and there.
What exactly is broken and what do i need to replace. I obviously need to replace the Glass frame/screen, LCD ... do I need to replace the digitizer as well?
If anyone knows about this please help me out.

As long as I know any T999 i535 I747 will be compatible except I9300. I dont know why but some T999 users havd problems.
Is a good deal indeed. But If you can find some with frame includes will ve a very sweet deal.

I know sound expensive but you only will have to change the mainboard and components very easy without any need of stick or glue to install it on the frame.

Yeah I heard it should work and is cross compatible. But my question is if on that eBay link.. Are they selling everything I need to fix my problem or do I need to buy something else? I
It says: 1. Front Glass Touch Screen Digitizer Panel + LCD Display Screen pre-assembled without frame
That's all I need ?
Thanks

Yes, the only concern I have is the glue used to join the frame with the screen, if isn't professional installed this will be falling soon or getting dust an sand under the screen. Thats why I recommend the entire frame and screen set...

I prefer black phones, so I bought the black one
I've put this on the backside and a protector on the frontside, because both scratch easily. These eliminate the fingerprint issue, too.

[Q] Gunmetal M8 gets dirty?

Hello, I use a DotView case with my M8. But its back gets dirty over time, is it normal? I have the option to change it to silver, so, should I do it? Or it's normal and all phones get dirty stains over time?

And where do you think that dirt has access from?
Dust does get into cases.. It gets into even my spigen slim armour, through the USB port area.
As long as the dust comes off its fine.. If stuff like sand gets in there, then it's possible that your phone will get scratched.. @xunholyx the dot view case just covers the corners well, there's a lot of space on all the sides for dust to enter..
