I tied to flash the pac-man 4.2.2 ROM to my rooted s4. It worked but all the Google apps did not come with it... so I downloaded an app package off of GooManeger. Anyway after reboot it was obvious the app package was not compatible. Wiped phone, then no ROM, no OS, no nothing. Device doesn't get past initial boot screen. I can get into download and recovery mode. Not really sure how to download anything on my phone right now as my computer doesn't recognize it anymore. My recovery mode is TeamWin. I'm sure there's more you want to know so please ask and I appreciate your help.

You need to start from scratch using ODIN and flash the stock/non rooted Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S4 M919 firmware.
(using download mode in the phone)
Here is the download link: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213469534/9ff06bd/M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_TMB.zip.html
After the odin flash you will need to root the phone unless you want to keep it stock.
Good luck!

You may have wiped the /system folder which may explain why your phone is stuck on the booting sequence. As the poster said above, use Odin to flash the stock MDL and root again. As far as your computer not recognizing it. Put the phone into download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power), plug the phone into a different USB port (and let the drivers install if it's the first time you're plugging your phone in that port for Windows users), and then open up Odin and flash the stock firmware from there. Let us know if Odin recognizes your phone.
If you can still get into download mode and recovery, you are NOT totally bricked.

Recovery is not working
Got phone back to normal, then accomplished root access. Downloaded clock work and now recovery mode does not work. I downloaded CW from hot file. I was sure to download the right one for my phone... anyway I cant factory reset at the moment, it just sticks at recovery boot screen. What I'm trying to accomplish is download CW, pacman 4.3 ROM, and Gapps.

You gotta be careful where you're getting your files from man.
Try Philz CWM flash via Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322676
You could also Odin back to stock (you know how to do that now:good
Root again and use ROM Manager to install CWM.

Start using and MD5 hash checker to make sure your downloads are not corrupted. :silly:
Odin back to stock and re-root. IIRC, CWM should be available from the Play store where you can then open the app and install/update the libraries. Didn't Pacman ROM include CWM?
Thank you guys for the advice. Super usefull
I was under the impression I needed to download a download a recovery mod first. Where is the best place to get my ROMs? I'm real interested in the pacman. I extracted the pacman files but it wont plug into the PDA in Odin. Also MD5 hash checker is something I've never heard of..

What? You don't install Pacrom through Odin. You flash the zip in recovery.

You need to have a working custom recovery first. Like Skipjacks stated, you flash ROM in the custom recovery.
I think you should start from the beginning and take it step by step.
I assumed at this point you're rooted on the stock ROM with stock recovery?
If not lets get to that stage and we can go from there.
-Stock ROM rooted with stock recovery
-Flash custom recovery
-Nandroid backup
-Flash custom ROM<<You are here

Derp moment. CWM != ROM Mgr. :silly: Thanks for the clarification.
I did it all with exception of flashing the ROM. Every time I try to flash the pacman 4.3 it fails. Any suggestions on how to fix that or should I turn my attention so a different ROM. I'm going for optimization and complete customization, without needing a launcher. Or maybe a suggested ave to customize touch wiz to the fullest.

What is the message or why is it "failing"?
It starts the download then at the end it says:

so, i flashed the kitkat bootloader from odin, then flashed the zip from philz touch recovery. the kernel splash screen stayed on for a long time, then the screen went out, and it loaded to the kernel splash, then to recovery. then i realized i hadnt wiped, so i flashed the kitkat stock rom through odin, installed philz touch recovery, did a full wipe, then installed the zip, and the same thing happened. being a new member with less than 10 posts i cant post on the official thread, so... whats the deal? what could the problem be?
EDIT: my bad everyone. i found a misleading link to philz, the newest version in that thread was not the newest version.

in aroma choose the stock kernel option. I had the same bootloop problem ....it kept going into recovery.
After choosing the stock kernel everything was smooth.
off course pls confirm that you are using the correct ROM version
for 5100 version is 1.2
1.3 is only for 5110
I didn't see any kernel options let me make a nandroid and run it again. and yeah I have the 5110. Thanks
hey, i reinstalled it, there were no kernel options, but i left the bootanimation option on stock samsung, and i had been using the XAR region, so i tried btu this time, because thats what the stock rom i have installed is. still crashes to recovery
EDIT: and after restoring my nandroid, i get to the rom splash screen, and it just loops there.

Here is the link to Stock KK:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29611
Also download Odin v3.09 from the same link.
Then follow these instructions:
1) Unzip the Download zip file, you will get N5110XXDNE1_N5110OXADNE1_HOME.tar.md5
2) Put the tablet in Download mode
3) Install N5110XXDNE1_N5110OXADNE1_HOME.tar.md5 using "PA" option of ODIN.
4) It will take a while, let it finish.
5) If that works, reboot back to download mode
6) Install latest Philz recovery, using ODIN's PA option.
7) Reboot into recovery, and install any custom ROMS.
Note: This will trip your KNOX counter

thats the thing.... i flashed it, i have stock rooted kitkat running fine, i have philz recovery running fine, but when i try to flash the custom kitkat rom, i wipe, flash the zip, the aroma installer boots i choose a few options, the aroma installer completes, then i reboot and it just crashes to recovery, no matter how many times i try, how many factory resets i do, anything. knox is tripped, but i can't run the rom. i had the 4.2.2 custom touchwiz from the same developer running fine, but then i decided i had to have kitkat, and.... nothing. it simply won't run.
if it matters, i am already running the same stock rom you linked to, 4.4.2 btu
EDIT: just for the record, i am not new to this in general, only this particular device - my sprint galaxy s3 is running carbon rom, my galaxy gear is running null rom, i flashed N3BULA on my dad's verizon galaxy note two, and ive already decided on a rom for the note 3 i am getting at the end of july.
this is just my first time encountering this problem, all assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.

Ok, so first try to validate the MD5 of the file that you are installing.
if you are installing "CivZ-FlexNote8.0_KK-Rev1.3-N5110_signed.zip" then the MD5 should match as below:
b8abeb1ec9535ef526d02ef402788359
Validate the MD5 in PC as well as Tablet. Sometime you get a good download on PC, but when you copy it to Phone/tablet file might not get copied properly.
Second option you can try to install another 4.4.2 based ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2763274
Again validate the MD5 before installing.

Hello everyone,
For the longest time I had just had my note 3 rooted with chainfire. Being familiar with modding androids I decided to give it a go on my note 3. As you can see from the title, I failed lol.
I've tried to use any tar.md5 I can find of the T-mobile US version; but most come up with md5 check failed. The only one i've gotten to work on the many odin versions i've tried is N900TUVUDNF4_N900TTMBDNF4_N900TUVUDNF4_HOME.tar.md5.
The phones state is it currently freezes loading on the samsung logo screen. I was able to install twrp custom recovery version 2.6.3.2. Before I installed the rom I was trying "X-note", I did a backup of the system. Though when I use the restore, it only does the boot and system files. The data fails everytime I try.
Before all this I was in 4.3.
If you guys could help me out, and point me in the right direction to at least get my phone working I'd appreciate it.

Before doing anything else you need to re-download the TAR.MD5 firmware.
If you get MD5 errors it simply means that for some reason the download
had an error in it (checksum error).
You need to have a error free download of the TAR.MD5 firmware in order
to solve the issues you are having. Your phone is NOT bricked at all and all
it needs is a error free TAR.MD5 file to flash with odin and your phone will
work perfectly. You should never flash a TAR.MD5 file which has errors.
Your problem has nothing to do with the versions of the firmwares like 4.4.2
and or 4.3 you are trying to flash, it all has to do with errors during the actual
download process of the TAR.MD5 file.
Good luck!
Thank you for replying!
So what should I look for in terms of flashing then? Just full stock of the t-mobile US version?
Reason I asked is because I'd downloaded about 15 different ones from all different sources, and only that one didn't have the issue. Should I try to flash through twrp over Odin?
Edit:
Like for instance I tried the one from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...900tuvudnf4-extracted-stock-firmware-t2834398
This was the only one that worked actually. Though after I flash it with odin it just shows the samsung logo with "recovery booting" in the top left corner.
Wow..holy crap after like attempt number 40 with the same flashing in odin it actually booted up. That's just crazy lol.

For anyone else with this problem: I had this problem I flashed the firmware a few times talked about earlier. Then I performed a factory reset through recovery and boom it works again. Maybe that's all I needed to do in the first place maybe odin wasn't even necessary... This may also work with other cf auto-root bricks across many phones.

Scratch that. This is what I believe happened. The way CF Auto-root works is it roots through a temporary custom recovery I believe. What happened is during the process something went wrong and the phone ended up with both a corrupted system and a corrupted recovery. You need to flash the stock tar to fix both then factory reset to make it boot the rest of the way. Again this is just for future reference with more people running into this problem... I do realize OP already got helped.

I always ODIN flash the newest firmware, let the phone boot up, then I just ODIN flash TWRP... and then in recovery I flash my personnel rom and flash SU from chainfire...
then I just install busybox which I have a copy of all the on my sdcard, a folder I call apk files.... then I install titanium backup and restore my apps.. all done in less then 10 minutes...
when ever u think u have a problem, flash the firmware your on, or the newest, that should always fix any issues.. I have all of the versions on my site, and stock odex roms...

I just kept trying to flash to the stock image that's in the link in my post. It kept giving me md5 errors, so I re downloaded the file until it passed. I also ran odin as administrator, which helps. I used an older version of odin, 3.5 I believe.
Everything else I tried failed, like hemdall. I did attempt it, but it failed when I tried to flash through it. I'm not really familiar with it, just followed the guide on these forums. It can supposedly do more than even odin can do, that's if you can get it to work lol.

So the first thing I noticed is, you listed the bold above. That means the rom is flashed? Thats my rom. Its stock and you even show the correct kernel. (although I would update to a newer one). Next thing is, after you download use an MD5 checker and compare to the rom thread or AFH next time. This will indicate if there are issues with the download or the file itself after moving it. Report back for us so we can proceed to help you further
Have you tried full unroot through SuperSU app and reflash latest SuperSU via recovery ?
OK. So I completely bricked the phone trying to get this to work.
I was able to download the ORIGINAL stock unrooted rom.
I rooted it again after getting it back up. I tried to flash a couple of ROMS, but TWRP just continues to reset back to TWRP menu when I flash. So I changed to Philz. Aborts each time
It sounds to me like the best plan at this point would be to Odin back to stock and start over. Something went wrong somewhere!
Yeah. If you can get into download mode then you didn't brick. Download the stock tar and try again.
I already restored it back to stock. I've done this 3x now. I'm stock again now, but each time I use the toolkit and reboot, when I try to flash ANY rom, it says failed or corrupt.
I've tried philz and TWRP. Both are giving the same results
I've rooted several phones and no issue. I was able to install one earlier before I bricked the first time, but the radio/data kept having issues even after I did the fix so I tried another rom, but to no avail.

I already restored it back to stock. I've done this 3x now. I'm stock again now, but each time I use the toolkit and reboot, when I try to flash ANY rom, it says failed or corrupt.
I've tried philz and TWRP. Both are giving the same results

you do know we could always skip the step thats probably not playing nice for you, the toolkit.
Odin Stock NK2 tar
Odin TWRP
Boot into TWRP
Flash Custom rom (all come prerooted nowadays)
Profit.
alternative to that is:
Odin Stock NK2 tar
Odin CF-autoroot
Odin Recovery Of choice
enjoy stock rooted or Reboot to recovery and flash custom recovery of choice.
Well, I just tried that also with the newest TWRP 2.8.4.0 and it didn't take through ODIN. The guy fell over when I went to see it as the the phone tried to do the update.
I used ODIN to download Philz and it took.
I then tried to flash Liquid Smooth and it aborted saying it can't open /storage/sdcard1/LS-LP-v4.0-2015-01-16- liquid_trltespr.zip (bad)
The I tried to /storage/sdcard1/cm-12-20150116-UNOFFICIAL-trltespr.zip (bad) and it aborted again

Now that none of these options worked (for some strange reason), I went back to the toolkit and re-rooted the phone and got rid of knox, added busybox, etc... Now I AM rooted again, but none of the roms will install.
I have a rooted phone that can't flash.
I tried all of the roms that I downloaded to my sd card, but none seem to work.
Even though I have a new 128 gb sandisc ultra, is it possible that I have a bad card??
I'm just baffled. I've been rooting phones for years, but this one is strange.
Is there a way to use odin to flash a rom?? I know it would have to be a tar file
Definitely yes... Put the rom on the internal memory and you will be good to go!

Unless your card is bad (or your drivers on your pc) the problems you are experiencing are still unfortunately most likely internet connection or user related errors. You don't detail your steps carefully. This is important in this situation.
Try downloading a ROM to your computer and transfer it to the internal storage. Also, how are you using philz recovery, I thought only twrp worked for our phone. Download the right recovery here, flash with Odin in PDA slot from download mode. http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/266
UPDATE!!!!!
Thanks EVERYBODY... I used my old 4GB SanDisk mini card and it is still good.
I downloaded the rom to the card and it took immediately.
The 128GB card that I bought is junk.
It is rooted and I have an AWESOME rom now.
Thanks agian EVERYONE for all of your help
Not my work but it works now.
How to
Reboot in recovery
Wipe device
Flash Rom and kernel:
Download for rom:
Flash this after:
Reboot
Recommend using twrp 3.0.0.1
what about the hardware keys? do they work with moar rom and this kernel or do we need virtual hardware keys?

Kernel fixes hardware issues
and if I'm on note 5 moar rom with patch.... no issue flashing right?
Sky-high made us a kernel? Sweet sadistic smiles, success! So happy. Anyone know if it'll work like the LP patch did for note roms, or does more need to happen first? Or do people just need to start trying and report back?
-edit-
Clicked the link and saw it was a note 5 Rom. What can I say, I was excited!

Oh I'm setting everything up right now for the flash! I'm so excited. Once I realized you linked to a note 5 Rom most of my questions got answered. My favorite part, the kernel was posted on my bday.
i tried wiping and clearing cache then flashing the rom and the kernel. nothing actually happens to my phone. i end up on the same home screen and apps i had installed on moar 5.1.1 with note 5 patch.
any ideas why wiping my phone doesnt work on twrp 3.0.0.0?

Update your TWRP.
https://dl.twrp.me/zenltespr/
yea I tried doing that with Odin and it would freeze mid way. I also tried flashing a twrp update zip file on twrp and that didn't work either.
you think I should flash with flash fire?
bricked my phone by trying to flash newer version of twrp with twrp manager
been trying to flash unbrick tar and pit file to get back up and running but its not working.
any help is much appreciated
fixed the brick by flashing new recovery in Odin, now on 3.0.2. still can't get the phone to wipe out install new rom and kernel

Have you checked for root with root checker? I have lost root access a few times in the past?
yea I just checked with root checker and I have root access.
I've never had this happen to me... weird
anything else you can think of?

Last thing I can think of is when opening TWRP the first time. It asks if you want to make the system 'read only'. Did you select No?
I never got that message when I flashed twrp 3.0.2 to unblock... how do I make it show up?

Not sure. You can click mount and see what is mounted. I am not sure that will work. I am not sure exactly what you are trying to wipe, but mount the items you are attempting to wipe and make sure the read-only is unchecked.
Try this:
Check to see if oem is checked
Re-root via root tar/odin
twrp 3.0.0.1 from edge files post in general
Backup stock
Wipe
Flash Moar
Don't reboot
Flash skyhigh kernel
Flash xposed(don't have to)
Reboot
Allow it to boot loop a couple time (from sky kernel)
Give 5-10 minutes to boot
I just did it with no issues and I've personally had more luck with 3.0.0.1 than any of the others.
heres my issue...twrp doesnt do anything for me (all versions) whether i wipe or install
so i used flashfire to flash the rom and the kernel at once and it finally displayed aroma installer (wouldnt get that in twrp)
however, after it in stalled i got stuck on boot screen
the only fix for this was flashing unbrick aok3 tar file which brought me to stock
i put on twrp as a recovery again starting fresh unrooted and it still doesnt respond to any of my commands
i think i will try flash fire on stock one more time and see what happens since its the only thing that is responding

Your on Lp bootloader that's your issue.
Download Marshmallow tar from the general post I made for rooting Bpg1.
Flash tar and follow post.
twrp. 3.0.x.x is more for marshmallow. You need to be on 6.0.1 not 5.1.1.
Don't use fireflash on this device.
Fireflash is more for phones with locked bootloaders like Verizon s4 on the of1 update.
Fireflash isn't really up to date with our phone and could easily brick your device.
