Native Hotspot - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have recently CF Auto rooted my Note 2 (SPHL900) 4.4.2. Is there a native hotspot hack that I can use to enable hotspot? Thanks

Idk then..I don't think it's available yet..

There will never be a native wifi hack for the ota/odin rom. The rom needs to be deodexed and then you can modify the jar file or use a modified jar file. Otherwise you will have to use an app to get working hotspot.

[Q] Tethering on rooted stock AT&T Galaxy 3?

Hello,
I did a search, but the only reference to tethering seem to involve custom ROMs. I have rooted the stock phone and need to use wifi tethering for my Win8 tablet. Is this possible? I tried turning on tethering in the phone settings, but it says to contact AT&T. So I downloaded a wifi tethering program, but no wifi hot spots show up on my tablet.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

there are touchwiz-based roms (if you prefer that look/style) in the Android Development section and AOSP-based roms in the Original Android section. look over both sections to see what you might like. read up. most touchwiz roms have been modified and have native tethering. tethering is also standard on the AOSP roms.
installing a custom recovery and rom are covered in the attached directions. cheers

Yes, I'd like to stay on stock, so I'll look for barnacle. Thanks!
Keep in mind to some providers can track it and will charge u or shut off data till u add feathering to ur plan. I have been doing it on ATT with no issue but I have had friends on provider like straight talk that have experienced this

Got Barnacle but it's not working. Says "Wifi: Could not set ad-hoc mode of wlan0: Operation not supported on transport endpoint". I suspect it's some monkeying around by AT&T...
I already told you that you can find a stock based rom in the Android development section that has tethering established on it. That feature will be listed among the other features in the rom OP. Do some reading/research for yourself if you truly want tethering instead of leaning on a half-baked app supplied by someone who's intel comes from straight talk friends. These developers are on this site for a reason...they're the best. Cheers
What's the ROM version on your phone? Flashable mods have been made for all the stock ROMs...
Assuming you're on the stock AT&T 4.1.1 release, you'll need to flash a modified framework-res.apk in order to tether.

Im also on a rooted but stock ATT rom. Foxfi worked until the jellybean update. What changes when you flash the modified framework?

Well people built flashbale mods to enable it for I thought was all the SW versions, I only found older sw versions... Are you opposed to flashing a whole ROM?
No, Im not opposed to flashing a new rom.
I wont loose anything by doing that right?

Which carrier are you using? I'm assuming T-Mobile....
Reading the install instructions you should have done B. The post that says match what the APNs are is missing. I would got back to the thread and ask for APNs.

Did you try flashing another kernel? I believe the T-mobile variants need to use a kernel like Devil or Agni to get wifi working. there was a link in the OP for the rom you flashed for a kernel. It has probably been updated since the link was added.

I actually got the Data to work by adding APN. The wifi issue, i did flash that Kernel with no change. Is there any one Kernel that you'd recommend?
Thanks for the help BTW

I prefer agni. You only need a custom kernel if you are running a pre-knox bootloader. I do and choose Agni. You can find it in the N7105 dev forum.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
Late to the party, but I agree- get Agni kernel, it's amazing!
For future reference, here is a text file with the T-Mobile apn settings I use. I have an i317 for At&t, but these settings allow my data on T-mobile's network to work flawlessly. I have a primary and a secondary listed. Anyway, you can save this text file to your extSD so you always have it for reference.

Roms

How difficult would it be to port a rom over from the other carriers for the developer edition? I understand there are build and kernel issues. I would be happy to experiment, but I have little knowledge in this area. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

AOSP will not install, it throws an error everytime. I have tried several times but I can't get the APN settings to stick to enable LTE.
Someone will figure it out eventually. I remember my galaxy s4 was in the same boat on GPE ROM for a while
So, basically I could flash something like dynamic kat and ktoonz or faux for tmobile, get it booted up, change the APN and if it sticks, I'm good to go?

You can either wait for root on the retail edition or purchase a developer edition when they are back in stock. Those of us who are flashing ROMs have purchased a developer edition that can be rooted unlike the retail edition that most have purchased that can not be rooted yet. The link I posted for a developer edition is the onlly way you can get one besides buying a used one. Verizon dose not supply these.
Is root getting close?

Update problem!

I got a notification that a software update was available. However I didn't realize that Samsung requires the update be done via WiFi. This isn't a problem for most ppl but I stay at a VA facility which is currently in lock down, so I can't go home and use my WiFi and there's no WiFi here for us to use.
My ? is can this be side-loaded? If so can someone point me in the right direction.
I don't want to hack into someone else's WiFi hot spot because I couldn't be sure how stable it would be.
Thnx in advance.
Use Odin. Download firmware from www.samfw.com
