I'm sad that the G3 will not get a bootloader unlock soon. The phone is really great but I can't live without custom roms...
Do you guys have some tips on how to sell my G3 online? (what is safe and what I should be careful about)
I buy and sell exclusively on Swappa. Safest I've found.
I checked swappa but there seems to be nearly no trafic on the EU section, while on the US there are hundreds of people selling and buying.
Over here we sell a lot using marktplaats.nl
Unlock is coming. Be patient!

EBay is where I buy and sell everything. But swappa sounds promising.

Hey guys. I was planning on picking up a r800a. This may sound like a silly question but what is considered a good price for these? I've been checking out different sellers online and I've seen prices as high as $600. I know that a few of you have picked up from private sellers. Would you mind telling me the price you paid? If you don't want to post in this thread you can PM me. Thanks a lot!

I personally picked a new one up around two months ago for around $500, but I believe the phone is worth about $400-$450 now (in mint condition with all accessories + some extras). $600 is a little steep for this device at this stage in the game.

Thanks for the info. Is there any difference between the r800a from Canada (rogers) vs the r800a from the Google IO conference?
Don't buy from private seller of its going to cost that much... Warranty is way better when you buy from big companies. Any problems, they let you change and refund without hassle.

I thought I read somewhere that it can be unlocked to work with ATT? Well, it doesn't matter, I just picked up the dev model from someone that attended the Google I/O conference. I turned it on but haven't really used it yet. I'm waiting for my phantom skinz protector to arrive.
Sorry i mean the bootloader is factory locked. Still a good phone but only half as good as unlockable plays. Rogers phone = no custom roms, no overclocking, no custom kernals.

Wow. I guess I lucked out then. I almost bought the Rogers version. Hmm... I could have sworn that the bootloader was unlockable though. I don't plan on rooting any time soon so I guess it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
there is a way to unlock rogers bootloader already its not free but whatever its not that big a deal and plus Ive read around the arc forum that Blagus is working on a way to unlock too for factory bootloader locked phones he also said it wouldnt be free but it would be really cheap. so yea thats where that sits check arc forum lots have done it already and more are about to do it
I bought my Play through EBay for about $320 myself - of course wasn't new but came with everything plus a case. I almost had one that went $375 came with the docking station.
Rogers based - paid $15 to get it unlocked for other networks (not unlocked bootloader) and rooted. Currently running the UK Rom.
I just purchased a Xperia Play myself for Verizon for $150 which I thought was a great price considering the ESN was clean and the potential the phone has. Loving it so far.
Cheapest I've seen BRAND NEW in UK from a reputable shop is £259.99.
afaik only telstra units and google io units are unlockable, i paid $445AU for my new telstra unit about a month ago.
i wasnt sure that the bootloader would be unlockable when i bought it, but i had the feeling it would be based on telstras history since they operate the only 850mhz network in australia..anyways, it paid off....damn happy.
^^ cool!
Yeah, I'm just waiting for my skin protector to come in before I start playing with the phone.
I also noticed that letstalk.com is offering the Verizon xperia play for $0 with 2yr new activation, if anyone is interested in that.
Back to protectors; I heard that all SE xperia phones have some sort of film on the glass that can be peeled off. Are they meant to be left on? I am just wondering if I should peel it off before applying my skin protector on it.
I paid $30 at a kiosk to get my phone protection (full body) I heard there's a film on them but not sure what the scoop was. Mine was used but 90% sure previous owner didn't remove any protection on it and my new screen protection hasn't caused any issues whatsoever. I'd say your PROBABLY safe but hopefully someone else knows better then I

I'm wanting to pick up the unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus. I will never give Verizon a penny, and I've read it works on both ATT and TMobile 3g.
I was thinking Amazon, but I don't know how the warranty and things will work. So, for those people with the unlocked version, where did you buy it.

I bought mine from expansys. It came out to be like 585 I think. You should check it out.

You've got 5 minutes to buy from Daily Steals (above post)
I bought from Negri Electronics and it's been great.
In case you missed the dailysteal, try looking for on either eBay or Amazon. Try auction or whatever works for you. I won one auction for $585.05, so you should aim for that maximum amount. Or based on my calculation, you could wait another month or two and the price will go down to around $500. Good luck !
Got mine from Germany, Coated me about $538 with 2 cases and a screen protector.
If your in the states i order mines from Amazon.. choose One day Shipping.. got it the next. You could get free two day shipping also.. Its only $594
Click this link. All my friends bought theirs from these guys
If I had one bit of advice it'd be to discourage from buying on eBay or craigslist (or similar) if you at all care about warranty. I know it sucks and you'll hopefully never have to do it, but ordering from an importer will give you some peace of mind knowing you could send it in if you needed to. Importers have it for under $600 nowadays. Depends how much that's worth to you.
just my 2c
hey guys ive been looking for a new phone and this one seems to tick all the boxes but while looking for info on it ive found that there are a few different versions like f240 and l-04e and e980 and e986 and a few more lol, but im the sunny uk so im not sure if it will make a difference which one i buy? also does anyone have any suggestion where the best place to buy one of these phones from?

I did a lot of research before buying my OGP, as well. Swell device and I am more than satisfied with it. We have a small development community, but just enough to give you a taste of just about everything.
Go for one of the E98X ones. The F variants seem to have an even smaller development community here on XDA. You'd have to rely on Chinese and Vietnamese sites which are dominantly stock-based ROMs.
Not sure where you'd get one as I got mine through AT&T.

Thanks for the advice mate does make much difference which one of the E98X ones I get?

I don't really think so. Most ROMs say E980 (AT&T variant) but works on all E98X models (I think).

has anyone got any ideas where the best place to buy one of these phones is? ive seen a place called simply electronics but im too sure if its a decent place or not
I just bought a near mint e980 on ebay for $270 USD. Even with shipping I doubt you can do better. Seller is wirelesshut2010.

I'm also in the UK and I brought mine of ebay but now it is broken and the seller doesn't care. I would be very careful as the phone will obviously be an import so the warranty will not work in the UK. LG UK will not fix your phone, even if you pay for it. Many online shops, such as simply electronics, may take a long time to ship to you as they may have to get the device delivered from hong kong etc. Also, most of these online shops have none existent customer services and they won't reply if you have a problem. From looking at google shopping, there doesn't seem to be anywhere in the UK who will help you if your phone breaks. However, if you do buy from shops such as simply electronics and value basket, you should eventually receive the product.
Why don't you get the LG G2? It is only £320 on Amazon UK.

All this said, I think swappa.com may be the best place to buy a US model in the UK (if one ever comes up). Swappa is an XDA offshoot and they have a very good system for matching buyers with sellers at fair prices. I just sold a phone there for a little less than I paid for it to someone who didn't seem to know much about what he was buying but it all worked out fine. They do not charge sellers. Buyers pay a flat $10USD. Another advantage is the built in protections of PayPal. I would not hesitate to buy from Swappa, although their prices tend to be somewhat higher than ebay's due to the buyer fee and shipping included in the asking price.
A few (not most) US sellers will ship internationally.
Here's one: LG Optimus G Pro (Unlocked) For Sale - JCP297 - $400 > Swappa - http://is.gd/tLP8aL
F240s,said to be mint. With international shipping will probably cost more. Keep in mind that a locked AT&T e980 is now $370 direct from the carrier. Of course given UK prices this might still be less expensive than ordering locally.

The problem with paying with paypal is that in the uk, if the worst happens, you can get your credit card company (not debit card) to give you the money back, but you are paying paypal, not the seller directly, so you can have problems with getting your money back, especially if the seller is an individual, not a business.
Hi, I'm Selling my new Note 4 on Ebay and I need some advice listing it.
In forming my listing, I typically look at past successful listings and see how they worked their ad. I have noticed ad that claim to be "factory unlocked".
Can somebody explain this to me and also give me any tips on getting top buck for my listing?
I thought these phone were locked.
I can provide a photo of the label on my box.
I'm thinking on a quick 3 day sale so someone can get this in time for a Holiday present.
This is a typical listing that confuses me:
NEW FACTORY UNLOCKED Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910V 32GB WHTE Verizon GLOBAL GSM
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREAT-FACTO...1313163018?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item43d39e1b0a!
verizon's LTE phones are all sim unlocked
thats prob what they mean.

I've had much better luck selling on my smartphones on Swappa. It's your choice, but Swappa just seems to attach more serious buyers and has a reputation for better protecting the seller and the customer. You'll also get a better idea of what smartphones similar to yours are selling for.

Thank you for your reply!
So does that mean I can truthfully say in my ad?
" Factory Unlocked To Work With Any GSM Carrier * OverSeas"
Another vote for swappa. Sold my phone there in a day (and most of them are if you are reasonably priced)
no crazy ebay fees.......
Just list your phone with the model # and a good description. You will do fine.
I sold both iphone 4 and galaxy S3 and started bidding at $1 with a buy it now that I felt was a little over average. Both sold on ebay in less then 3 hours, buy it now instant pay.
use craigslist.
too many scams with paypal dude...
people will buy and say it never got delivered.
i only sell on craigslist, but never buy
Swappa did not work for me. Had 2 people buy the phone but neither could pay for it. Had to relist each time. Finally gave up.
Some great feedback here, thanks guys. Its on swappa for two days then I'm moving it over to fleaBay.

On ebay, you'll pay like $60 in fees on a $600 ending price.
So $600 on ebay nets you $540. You can lowball on Swappa for 575, lose $10 to swappa, pay shipping yourself, maybe $15, and still come out ahead despite an initial $25 lower price. Just something to think about.
I'm selling my G2 guys. I bought a G4 and am awaiting it's arrival this week. I know the G4 isn't as high end as it really should have been, but I really want to try that camera out. Also, the unlocked bootloader sounds awesome.MOD EDIT: No selling/trading/buying on XDA. Use swappa.com and you may have a discreet link to sale in signature only
$229..? No offense but that's way out there. Mint condition Sprint G2's are going for less than $150 on CList. Actually got my current G2 for $100 (not the norm, but lucky me). Even brand new GSM (unlocked) models are on eBay for $189, and we all know the CDMA models usually go for less.
Good luck.
ROFL ...$229 OP.. Seriously!??! Yeah good luck with that. Greed kicking in too much here OP.
I know its more than I'll get for it. It's just a buy it now price. The reserve price is wayyyyy lower. I always throw a rather high buy it now on auctions. It has an Otterbox and ZAGG shield as well. You're right tho, I will lower the BIN to $200.
Edit: eBay wont let you adjust the buy it now
