[Q] Samsung 5210 - Won't restart after rooting - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I rooted my Samsung 5210 using Odin v3.07.
In the message screen it said:
<ID:0/007> RES OK !!
<ID:0/007> Removed!!
<ID:0/007> Remain Port .... 0
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)
<ID:0/004> Added!!
<ID:0/004> Removed!!
(Also attached a screen shot).
The tablet rebooted, but before I could press Home + Power + Volume Up to enter the Recovery Mode to flash the root zip file, the regular start screen appeared. I rebooted it manually, but since then it's dead - neither pressing the Power or the Home + Power + Volume Up will start the tablet.
Any idea how this can be solved ?

Wao, almost 13 hours and no body has answered. There a a few things you have to do to improve the chance you get help. But before let me say a few things.
1) About Your self:
Your record shows 1rst post in xda!
Can you talk about you, your knowledge and skils.
Is this your first android device? Have you done rom modification before? What?
About P5210?
Is your device New? Can you talk about what you had in your device preciously. Most 5210 came with 4.2.2 but it been said that new are coming with 4.4.2? What was yours.
About your Procedure.
What procedure are you following- Please tell us the link? Just as a note If you are following a Link in the web best to do is to request help in the same Link. But never mind lets continue here.
2) You said: "I rooted my Samsung 5210 using Odin v3.07. "
This is strange: Normally we used Odin to install a partition, or going back to stock. So most of the time Odin is used at the beginning to install the a new Recovery CWM, TWRP or new improves like Philz. Afterwards we reboot into Recovery (NOT ODIN) to install the Super SU (root). Then we restart in Android OS and once up we run Super SU and verify it work. The we can say that we are rooted.
But you said "I rooted" So it was rooted or not?
3) Now in the other hand your picture shows you where trying not to root but to Install a TWRP image? a file called "TWRP Recovery\recovery.tar.md5" So we fall back to what procedure are you following and what files?
4)
The tablet rebooted, but before I could press Home + Power + Volume Up to enter the Recovery Mode to flash the root zip file, the regular start screen appeared.

This happens because you did not un-Check "Auto Reboot", look at your Odin image.
You said : "regular start screen appeared" . Did you let it boot all the way to Android OS and then did "Power Off"?
I rebooted it manually, but since then it's dead - neither pressing the Power or the Home + Power + Volume Up will start the tablet

What is "rebooted it manually"? I guess all reboot are manually, we do have to manually ask the device to reboot? Listen I do not what to be mean. I am trying to show that what you have written is just confusing??

Here is the MOST disturbing part of you message. Installing a new recovery.img should not had modified your boot-loaders!! The first boot-loader is the one in charge of responding to [Power] or [Home] + [Power] + [Volume Up]
Once you tell us what procedure you are following and what files, we may have an Idea if you use a bad recovery.img. but for now let said you have a bad recovery image.
You should at least bee able to press [Power] for 5 to 8 seconds and release. This will mimic a Battery Removed. then you could do one of two things:
a) Press power and see it reboot and see the Samsung Logo. And it should boot in to OS.
or
b) Or you should be able to press [Home] + [Power] + [Volume Down] in fact you do not need [HOME] in Tab3 just [Power] + [Volume Down].
Then you should see it booting in "Download Mode"
So why are you saying " it's dead" it is disturbing to me.
NOW here is the MOST important part of this. See me response it has at least 10 times more words than you initial request. And clearly it took me 10 times more time to do it. So do you assignment and tell us more info so that we can help you.

Well, I guess you're right, I should share a bit more info. I have two android devices: a Samsung Galaxy S Duos (S7562) mobile phone and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (GT-P5210). The mobile has been rooted a while ago and caused me no issues.

I followed those instructions (apparently I am not yet allowed to insert external links as I do not yet have enough posts in this community)
1. Download Odin v3.07 from this link and extract to your computer.
2. Download TWRP Recovery from here and extract it on your computer. Keep extracting the archive until you get recovery.tar.md5 file.
3. Now download Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 root file from here and transfer the root.zip file to internal memory of the tablet.
4. Turn off the tablet and press Home+Power+Volume down button simultaneously until you get to a warning screen. Release the buttons and press Volume up button to continue. When the tablet is in download mode, connect it to the computer using USB cable.
5. Start Odin and click on PDA button then select the file “recovery.tar.md5″.
6. On the Odin window make sure “Re-partition” is unchecked.
7. Now click on the Start button to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.
8. Once the flashing process is complete the tablet will reboot.
9. When the tablet is rebooting press Home+Power+Volume up button to enter Recovery mode. From the TWRP recovery flash the root.zip file and reboot the tablet.
I could complete the procedure up to step 9. After reboot I missed to press Home & Power & Volume and it booted regularly. Afterwards I tried to catch up with the missing step, tried to reboot the device but it never came up again.

@Johi13
From you simplistic way of answer this is what I got.
*Your experience: I guess you may not be experienced but had done Recovery Installation and root in the past. This is good. I guess then you know what you are doing.
*Your device: "The device is about 9 months old" , I too also believe should had been 4.2.2 originally. So that root out any weird 4.4.2 bootloaders
*Your procedure:??? The procedure shown seems ok except for the 7 instruction:
7. Now click on the Start button to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.
Click to collapse
should read instead
7. Now click on the Start button to send new recovery to Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.

It my be true that you can not post links. In fact NONE of us should past live links. We can always use one of many alternatives. lets say i want to place this link but I am not allowed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442915
So I can do this
Code:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 > Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Android Development > [RECOVERY][TWRP_2.7] SGT3 Recovery[FINAL]
or I can do this
Code:
Please google "[RECOVERY][TWRP_2.7] SGT3 Recovery[FINAL]"
or I can do this:
Code:
h__p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442915
Then we here can look and read and inspect the files.
But it does not matter lets assume all is OK. Procedure seems OK and lets say Files are Ok.
You have said
" I rebooted it manually, but since then it's dead - neither pressing the Power or the Home + Power + Volume Up will start the tablet."
"tried to reboot the device but it never came up again"
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT.
I

I can not help you any more except suggest you the following:
You could have a broken button like the [Power] ! If the buttons do not work it can not Boot-up.
You may have a Battery with to little juice! Hook it to an outlet ans see if it take charge.
Apart from that you may have damage you boot loading partition!! If this happens there is little we can do. It requires then Specialize service that almost only Samsung can provide such as Jtag or something similar. There is in some Samsung devices that have a Hardware option that when the bootloaders can not be reach it then try to boot from External SDCARD, I have no Idea is this is the case of Tab3 10.

@Johi13
Just a thought, If you could disconnect the battery, and reconnect, you may be able to press just [Volume Down] and see the Battery Icon.
Then you may be able to follow similar instructions.

Please post results if that works.

Bricked Samsung Galaxy S3 With Bad Software

I accidentally bricked my Samsung Galaxy S3 with a bad software. Now, It won't turn on at all. I tried this so far by pressing volume + home+ power with no luck. Whatever that I do, I cannot get it to go into download mode. This is what I did that bricked my phone. I really feel so dumb for not seeing the "for windows os!" Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.
Section 1: (For Windows OS)How to Odin stock pre rooted 4.1.1 JellyBean/Unlock bootloader/Flash a Custom recovery
Step 2: Power device off, hold the volume down/home/power keys until you see a yellow triangle, then press the volume up key to access "odin or download mode".
Step 3: Open odin and connect the oem usb cable to pc & device. There should be a "comport number" in upper left hand corner of odin indicating communication between the device & pc.
Step 4: Click on the PDA function of odin. Select the stock rom you downloaded in step 1, then select start. This operation should take less than 8 minutes before odin will say pass/reset and should reboot. If not manually reboot...
Step 5: Open up the SuperUser application from your app drawer and make sure its up to date!
Step 6: Download the EZ-Unlock app to your device from HERE.(Only use version 1.1 or 1.2 for now as the latest versions have issues!)
Step 7: Open the app and select unlock! Now your unlocked...yup its that easy!
Step 8: Download the EZ-recovery app to your device from HERE.
Step 9: Open app, select CWM recovery, tap the pulldown menu, choose CWM 6.0.1, select flash, then reboot recovery.
Step 10: Congrats you are now rooted, unlocked, and have a custom recovery installed!! If you want to flash a custom rom proceed to section 3 or 4.
It wasn't bad software, just the wrong software. Looking at those directions that is the root and recovery method for a Verizon GS3. Try to get it into download mode again (vol -, home, pwr) and see if you can flash the stock odin files.

Thank you, but that didn't do it cause it's fully bricked. I had to jtag it in order to bring it back to life!

Seriously bricked Sgh-T898

My trusty Galaxy is seriously sick. No matter what keys I use to power it on (power; power+volup; power+voldown; power+both volup & voldown), I get the screen that says: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
So I go into Kies and click on Tools/Emergency firmware recovery. However the "List of devices requiring emergency recovery" box is empty so no recovery can be done through Kies.
Please help me fix this.
1. take out battery.
2. wait 30 seconds
3. put battery back in.
4. press volume down + power for a few seconds until you see the message saying something like 'press volume up to enter into recovery mode." Let go of the volume down + power button, then press the volume up. If you can't get into recovery, I don't know what else you can try. If you do get into recovery follow my previous post
Try using Odin and flashing to stock ROM
+1 to odin mode fixing. Download the tar.md5 file from sammobile.com/firmwares (go to that site and search for the model # of your device and download the tar) then do the stuff in post #2 and then use odin. If you need instructions on how to use odin, theres stuff all over xda and google for it, but i cal walk ya thru it too.

Hey Guys Im Back! Thank you for the support and how it blew up. I have tested this on Android 10 UI 2.0 and it works better then ever!
Also installed lineage os : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a10/development/rom-lineage-os-a10-a105f-t4078093
So i tried using afaneh92's tutorial which will be linked here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a10/how-to/magisk-root-galaxy-a10-series-t3963822
Which lead to me bootlooping or softbricking and my storage was reduced from 32 gb to 16Gb so i decided to work on my own method!
Credits go to afaneh92 for the Twrp!
BEFORE YOU START YOU SHOULD HAVE
1.Samsung Drivers installed

2.Press on Install (first one) then press install again and after that press Install Zip Only
3.Then go into Twrp by doing the steps below

2.vbmeta.img error - you have the wrong vbmeta.img file. Redownload the original firmware and take out the right vbmeta.img next time you try flashing. Reminder AP->AP BL->BL CP->CP HOME_CSC->CSC
3.A blue screen telling you to use samsung switch emergency update. That wont work so just flash the original firmware and try flashing twrp again.

i notice thread title says exynos only.. u do know they are all exynos including a102u and a102u1 right?
Oh. Alright thanks for telling me.
Press on app? I have nothing in odin saying that, do you mean ap?
Edit: guess not....i'm bricked, stuck on galaxy logo, device not recognized by pc, holoding power button wont force reboot, nothing lol.
Edit2: can force reboot holding volume down and power but instantly stuck on logo again, cannot power off or enter download, nothing...bricked. Followed this guide to the letter. I assumed when you said app in odin you meant ap since there is no app button. My bootloader unlocked then I went to flash in odin the tar i made with patched boot and vbmeta, along with recovery linked. I used matching firmware to what my A10 has also. Would not mind if i could get back into download mode, but that looks impossible now.
Edit3: Managed to get download mode but had to be so quick...hopefully I can reflash stock now.

Of course I have unlocked OEM in developer options, but still I get this error in the bootloader.
Any ideas?

[Guide] How to root your Samsung Galaxy A10 with Magisk [SM-A105xx]

THIS MIGHT WORK FOR YOUR DEVICE BUT IF ANY DAMAGE IS DONE TO YOUR DEVICE I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE! AND THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON A10. [SM-A105, SM-A107 AND MORE]
1. You need to install the exact firmware for your model onto your PC. [I recommend a website called updato or install samware and get the firmware there.]
2. Install Odin 3.14.1. If you already have it go to the next step.
3. Unlock your bootloader. If you have done this please go to the next step but if not please go to 3.a
3a. !UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER WILL FACTORY RESET YOUR DEVICE! - Go to settings and go to about phone, then tap the build number until a message comes on the bottom of the screen saying "You are now a developer!" or something close to that. Go to developer settings by going back to the settings menu and scrolling all the way down to see it. After going to developer options turn on "OEM Unlocking" and tap allow. Also just in case turn on USB Debugging. After that turn off your device. After your phone is turned off press "Volume Up"+ "Volume Down" and plug in a USB from your PC simultaneously, you should see a splash screen with a warning. Hold "Volume Up" for until 7 seconds or less and you should see another warning to confirm you want to unlock the bootloader. Press "Volume Up". You will get a warning when you boot up the phone, just press "Power".
4. After the phone booted up, do the normal setup. Then go to Chrome and download Magisk Manager.
5. Then, go to your pc, and locate the firmware you have downloaded and copy the AP tar file onto your phone.
6. Open magisk manager, tap install, and tap "Select and Patch a File".
7. Select the AP tar file you copied from your PC and wait for the process to be done.
8. You should see a new file called "magisk_patched.tar" and transfer the file to your PC.
9. Open Odin on your PC, and turn off your device and turn it on using "Volume Up", "Volume Down" and USB combination.
10. You should see the same warning sign. Just press "Volume Up" once. Do not hold it just press it once.
11. Your PC will make a sound alerting you that the phone has connected.
12. On the BL section on Odin, open your firmware location and select the file with BL in front of it.
13. On the AP section on Odin, open the "magisk_patched.tar" file you had transferred from the phone.
14. On the CP section on Odin, open your firmware location and select the file with CP in front of it.
15. On the CSC section on Odin, open your firmware location and select the file with CSC in front of it.
16. On Odin, look for a section called Options on the left-hand side. Click options, and turn off auto restart.
17. Click start and wait for the process to finish.
18. After the process is finished, please take the USB out.
19. !!THIS IS THE HARD PART!! - You need to hold down "Volume Down" and "Power". After the screen goes black immediately hold "Volume Up" and "Power". This will direct you to the stock recovery of the phone.
20. If the recovery says, "NO SYSTEM FOUND", don't worry as for then your phone is not A/B partitioned and that's okay and you will need to skip 21 for now and select Reboot System and do the normal setup. But if you can see options in the recovery, please use the "Volume keys" to scroll and "Power" to select. Select Wipe Data and confirm.
21. After the erasing process, just let the phone boot up, and do the setup.
22. Install Magisk Manager if your phone hasn't already downloaded it.
23. !!!FOR THE NON A/B PARTITIONED IF YOU ARE A/B PARTITIONED THEN PLEASE GO TO THE NEXT STEP!!! If you boot up normally - (System without magisk)
Booting up with "Volume Up" and "Power" - (System with magisk)
24. Enjoy Magisk!

Should work with any Samsung galaxy a10, so if it works, enjoy!
Odin keeps crashing when it is nearly complete
I have done this yet however it crashes when I follow your steps with a text box like "Odin Downloader has stop working". I have even gone to the extent where I have turned the magisk_patched.tar into a .tar.md5 file and still the same old error. How do I fix it?
If you require more info, I have a sm-a105fn/ds running android 9. Whenever it is on the "userdata" stage in odin, it crashes. I am using Odin 3 v3.13.1
error in boot and go back to download mode
Not working
I tried and once the flashing was done it rebooted to Download Mode instead and says "error verifying vbmeta image ok_not_signed (3)"
