[Q] HTC One E8(M8Sw) dual SIM from China Unicom - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The phone that i have is (should be the HTC One E8) but on the specs it says: HTC M8Sw. It is a dual SIM. It runs on Android 4.4.2. HTC sense version 6.0.
It is from China Unicom, so the google services are not allowed. I tryed to root it. I unlocked the bootloader and i used the One M8 all in one kit from Jasoon. I flashed the TWRP 2.7.0.2 and when i tryed to root it, it didn't work. It is stucked on fastboot mode. I suppose that TWRP was not the godd one. Does any one have suggesion what to do? The phone is no bricked, but i can no go ahead.

I doubt that M8 tools will work over E8 both are technically different device.
Have you tried to do a RUU flashing? I think flashing with official RUU might help to fix your problem.

The bootloader is unlocked, and still have S-ON. I am stucked on fastboot mode. Comparing with the pic you sent, mien says : TAMPERED
UNLOCKED THe CIN is the same. The only difference is the OS which in my case is 1.18.1402.1
Does anyone know how to get rid of that TAMPERED thing?

Tampered is not at all a problem unless if you are going for a warranty claim, it is caused due to your bootloader unlocking and Recovery flashing it all common. Well, do you have a Micro SD? if so,
>>>> Download and copy the RUU (Link already provided) to your MicroSD, also rename the copied RUU to 0PAJIMG (I believe the original name is "0PAJIMG_M8_ACE_DUGL_K44_SENSE60_HTCCN_CHS_CU_1.17. 1402.3_
Radio_1.18.30306251.05G_30.57.306251.00_release_38 1279_combined_signed_2_4" rename to "0PAJIMG")
>>>> After inserting the Micro SD boot to bootloader mode, I hope it automatically loads the file and initiate the process. This is safe and TAMPERED OR S-ON is not a problem here.
Try this and tell me atleast you can get into your system. The first boot after installation mostly take time, have patience.

I am not planing to claim warranty. I just wanted to root the phone in order to get rid of the Chinese staff ASAP and install the Google apps. I will get a micro SD and do as you suggest. But i am not sure whether that RUU is good for the phone. It says M8 ACE, referring to single SIM, and mine is a dual SIM. I don't know. Once i do that I will let you know.

Of cause it is dual SIM "0PAJIMG_M8_ACE_DUGL_K44" stands for Dual SIM variant, it is product RUU name not the model name that we people usually call. I think the "DUGL" makes it Dual SIM variant.
Better than trying the RUU link that I provided see below,
Try this ROM (It may remove Chinese apps, provide root, etc)
USE THIS RECOVERY (Optional but 100% E8 Dual SIM Compatible Recovery)
Installation is same as I said above, all is good only when you get a MicroSD

Additionally, can you explain me why i should go back to original RUU? The phone is not bricked, it works, i can access all the things it came with.I am sorry for asking stupid questions, but i want to understand. Wouldn't it be enough if i re lock the boot loader and install some custom RUU?

See my previous post, you don't need to put the original RUU anymore, my bad I thought you cant use your phone so that starting from beginning is a good start, anyway forget it.
Have a look @ my previous post it is much simpler, download all parts of the RUU and extract to get "0PAJIMG.zip" copy to MicroSD and boot to Bootloader and all good.
After installation you get rid of Chinese apps and You will have root too!

So, i download the ROM and Recovery into my PC. I copy the files into Micro SD and rename just the RUU file to 0PAJIMG.zip. Then i insert the Micro SD and boot into bootloader, right? Once i am there, should i move the volume keys to reboot or? Please lead me thoroughly, cause i wouldn't like to be stucked somewhere. Thx

Sorry to butt in, but just had to set the record straight: what you have there is the true E8 Dual SIM from China Unicom. If you still have this phone and still need to root it, I strongly recommend Dr. Oweida's ROM which I also have on my E8 and works like a charm. Lucky for you, you are already S-OFF so you will also have the international Blinkfeed.
Cheers!

i have an HTC one E8 M8sw from china but there is no playstore or google play on it! the is not even HTC market! and i need the playstore please someone help me!!

Can't install ROM or update

I hope that someone can help me with this problem. Sorry it is such a long post, but I thought it might help with diagnosis if I wrote it all down.
I have an HTC One X with Android 4.02. It was purchased from Optus. I followed the process on the HTC web site to root and unlock the phone. Since that time I have never been able to update automatically. I contacted both Optus and HTC and was told that this was because of the root and, more or less, “bad luck!” I’ve tried to manually update the zip file with CWM but just get an error message and abort update.
From time to time, the phone would lag badly and run slower and slower. The only way that I could fix it was to backup all the apps and data using Titanium backup; uninstall all the apps; and then re-install them. Afterwards, all would be fine again for several months. A couple of months ago, it began to happen again and I uninstalled/reinstalled, but this time it didn’t help. Finally, after trying to figure out what to do, I did a system reset and then reinstalled everything and everything worked fine except that one of my apps (one I use all the time!) now will not work at all.
I decided that this might be because I needed to update to a newer version of Android. Unfortunately, when I tried to install CM 10.2, the installation failed. I thought that this might be because the Bootloader was too old (v. 0.95) but I read that if it was an AOSP Rom that I wouldn’t need to update the bootloader. So, I tried to flash Xenon, but again no luck. I’ve scoured the forums, but can’t seem to find anything that matches this issue.
The phone is definitely rooted. I’ve previously installed new Roms on my old HTC Desire, so I’m pretty sure I’m doing it right. However, I’m by no means a particularly sophisticated user and quite often the discussion in the forums is a bit esoteric for me.
Do I need to update the bootloader? If I do, then do I need to unroot the phone first then update then re-root?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi
Can you give some details of the phone? CID?, international version?, S-On or off?, etc?
In short i think it is a good idea to update to a more recent bootloader. Then get yourself on to a newer ROM.
You might also want to consider twrp (big) as a new recovery.
This forum has lots of info.
Also take a look at www.onexroot.com
Thanks
The CID is OPTUS001.
The phone was purchased in Australia from the Optus network - I'm guessing then, that is an international.
The phone is S-on. From what I was reading when I was figuring out how to find whether it was On or Off, it seems like it needs to be Off to install any new Rom. I'd that right?
THanks for your help.

You can flash ROMs with S-ON. I fact its good to leave it as S-ON in case you flash the wrong firmware. Saved my bacon a few times.
Even if you bought it through Optus doesn't necessarily mean an international. Ca you post a screen shot of the boot loader screen. That will tell us.
Also an you find the CID number? There's some apps that can give you the the number. It looks like HTC-xyz. This will help in finding the right firmware.
good luck.

Nope, link still doesn't work. Use the attachments button when replying to attached the screenshot.
If that still doesn't work then let me know what the first three lines are when you are in fastboot mode. (Hold Vol down and power until you enter fastboot). The reason i want this info is to confirm you have the international version of HOX. If the second line contains the words "Endeavoru" then you have the international version, and we can then find the right ROM and recovery for you to use.
Also this is the link to download Hboot 1.36 for OPTUS001. http://d-h.st/users/ClydeB1/?fld_id=8110. Download this and keep it handy.
I am assuming that your bootloader is unlocked. First line tells you this. Did you use the site http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/? Do you still have the unlock token?
Here are the first 9 lines. Don't know why it doesn't work.

The unlock token usually arrives by email. Do you still have the email? If not go thru the process again and get the token. Then keep the token. You need it after you flash the firmware.zip (new HBOOT)
The question you might want to think about is what ROM are you planning to install? That suggests the custom recovery you need to install. For instance HOX international works well on Lollipop but you have to reformat the memory using twrp-big. A simple task that you can find on www.onexroot.com.
Once you answer the ROM question, the steps would be as follows. Instructions can be provided if needs be.
1. Flash custom recovery of your choice
2 Flash the firmware.zip (HBOOT)
3. Flash the ROM of your choise.
Or you can go down the path that Thant is suggesting. I did the Lollipop upgrade using Resurrection Remix ROM after doing steps 1 and 2.
Thanks

Step 1 must to be after step 2, because if he flash firmware after recovery will be with stock recovery and not be possible to flash rom with stock recovery and must to flash again custom recovery. But how I think he is not a good with android devices don't have good skil to flash the firmware by him self. I suggest to answare my question and then to see if we can find RUU
Thank you both. Sorry for the delay in responding. Family emergency and I've not had time. I'll follow up in a day or so.

Thanks. I'll try it and let you know.
I've tried running the RUU. When it asks me to verify the ROM image version I want to update, the "To:"version is the same as the "From:"version. They are both 1.28.980.11 Before I go ahead, is that correct? Shouldn't it be a different version of the ROM image?

M8 - No recovery, cant flash recovery or original ruu

My case in details:
I just bought htc m8 from another user and on its back the model ID was "0P6B100 "
I found that it has twrp recovery installed and super cid "11111111", i also notice in boot loader that its model "m8_wlv" which i think it is different from the model id written on the back that shows a Europe version while "wlv" referes to Verizon version.
**I don't know the phone original CID
The info found on boot loader:
----
locked
official software
m8_wlv pvt
s-off
cid-11111111
hboot 3.16.0.0000
radio 0.89.xx.xxxx
-----
I notice that there is no update tab available and noticed from many posts later that this occur because of the super cid
there is also conflict in battery charging percentage.. if my charge is 5% and I plug the charger it stuck on same percentage tell i restart to know the correct percent i charge to....
so i take a decision to download the official ruu, to receive updates or charge normally without conflicts in percentage numbers
i download ruu referes to Verizon because of the "wlv" found in boot loader...
I installed it from the pc via fasboot, and it installed safely without any problem...
After installation i found that this isn't my official rom , and my sim is not supported , also updates are only allowed in cdma mode
back to the boot loader to found that " official software version" is gone and also there is no twrp recovery or even stock recovery, when i hit recovery from boot loader it switch to the red triangle and every time i must press up bottom and power to restart
i failed to flash new recovery or twrp recovery from pc or sd card , i always get errors for that...
also the adb i am using in fastboot folder in not working, when writing any adb commands it always says
"error: device <null> not found
I download the ul RUU in order to flash it back but i always get an error in fastboot about header checking or model id failed
now what shall i can do in order to restore my phone original stock rom ? i don't want custom roms or anything from this staff.. all what i want is restoring my original stock rom and stock recovery.
is this because the conflict in the model id or the "m8_wlv" shown in bootloader ?

You need to go by what it says in bootloader, the back cover info is not reliable. The back cover was probably replaced to remove the Verizon logo. We've seen this a lot on these forums (back cover replaced to remove carrier logos).

SuperCID does not affect OTA updates. However, I believe the VZN version will only get OTA updates when connected to the VZN network. So that is your main issue with getting official updates.
i download ruu referes to Verizon because of the "wlv" found in boot loader...
I installed it from the pc via fasboot, and it installed safely without any problem...
After installation i found that this isn't my official rom , and my sim is not supported
back to the boot loader to found that " official software version" is gone and also there is no twrp recovery or even stock recovery, when i hit recovery from boot loader it switch to the red triangle and every time i must press up bottom and power to restart
Where did you get this RUU, and what is the exact file name? Its obviously not an official RUU; and I suspect its an RUU cobbled together by devs before the official ZVN RUU was available; such as this, or similar. It indicates its rooted, which would explain the modified software flag.
i failed to flash new recovery or twrp recovery from pc or sd card , i always get errors for that...
also the adb i am using in fastboot folder in not working, when writing any adb commands it always says
"error: device <null> not found
You can't flash recovery with a locked bootloader; and that is what LOCKED on the bootloader screen indicates.
I download the ul RUU in order to flash it back but i always get an error in fastboot about header checking or model id failed
Its fortunate for you that RUU failed. Do NOT attempt to flash this, or any other version RUU besides VZN They is not compatible, and may even cause a permanent radio brick due to partition differences with the VZN version.

Do a fastboot getvar all, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial numbers before posting). Mostly, I want to see the current MID.

I already downloaded the marshmallow version "VZWM8_S_ON_6_0" from this link this morning but it fails to flash using fastboot:
** shall I try flashing using another method ?
**shall I download the official Hboot too from same link ?
**what versions for hboot and ruu shall be downloaded ? current firmware "4.4.2 " or the marshmallow that i want to upgrade too ?

Try using htc_fastboot instead of the "generic" Google fastboot (disregard step #1 and renaming of the RUU.zip - just use the same RUU as before and you don't need to rename as long as you use the proper file name in the command): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
** shall I try flashing using another method ? You can certainly try the SD card method. Really, its probably the most straightforward method, as long as you have an SD card.
**shall I download the official Hboot too from same link ? No, hboot alone won't help your issue.
**what versions for hboot and ruu shall be downloaded ? same to android version i have "4.4.2 "]or the marshmallow that i want to upgrade too ?
Since you are s-off, technically any (VZN M8) RUU version should work (with s-on, you can only run RUU with same or greater versions - no downgrading). Although MM may cause a separate error running the RUU, so maybe try 5.0.1.

Many thanks dear,
The marshmallow version "VZWM8_S_ON_6_0" installed successfully via SD card
now the recovery is working , official status on boot loader
But it still A VZN software: The splash logo, the VZN applications, the notification of sim not supported, no stock browser(only chrome), no FM radio and updates are only available in CDMA mode
I believe the first rom came with my phone is not a VZN cause it don't contain any of this staff and also it showed on boot loader as an official rom !! for a reason i don't know it's only problem was no software updates ... and that's why i uninstalled it.
*is there any clean unlocked international official roms supported for m8_wlv "0P6B20000"?
Thanks again and again

I don't know of any official software for the VZN version that doesn't have the VZN bloat and branding.

This phone won't update OTA unless its connected to VZN, I already stated that. There's nothing you can do, that can change that AFAIK.
*shall I install a custom rom?, what is the best custom stable rom runing marshmallow advice?
If you want to get rid of carrier bloat and branding, than a custom ROM is probably your best bet. I don't personally own the VZN version. But I can tell you, that you can only use ROMs that specifically support the VZN M8 (otherwise you have to flash the proper kernel for it to work on the VZN M8).

Now I want to root my device in order to use "Battery calibration" tool and thats because:
My battery percentage drain quickly and stuck on 2% for more than half an hour, also it stuck and dont update while charging and to know the real battery percentage everytime i must reboot to bootloader screen and reboot again..
I tried many thinks like :
*full drain
*full charge
*wipe cash from recovery screen
*restore to factory from recovery screen
*reseting the cash method "volume up +volume down+ power key for 2 min"
And all failed, my last chance is to use the battery calibration tool and it requires rooting.

HTC one M8 wont update, boot to recovery or factory reset. Help please :)

Hi,
Yesterday I started trying to root my phone, needless to say it didn't go too well. As the title says, I'm unable to access recovery mode, and this morning when I tried to update to andriod 6.0, that wouldn't work either.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader, I think. It says unlocked in bootloader anyway. I have now relocked it to see if it will update with a locked bootloader.
Okay, so to describe what happens when I try to boot into recovery: The HTC logo shows up for a second or so, then the screen goes black and I have to boot it up from start. Also, I noticed, don't know if this is relevant, but in order for me to get into bootloader I have to hold vol down and power for at least 20 seconds, that does't seem normal to me.
I have downloaded a RUU from an HTC site(can't link, first post), but of course that wont install because im S-ON, which I don't know what it means. Anyway, the RUU wizard tells me to get the corret one, even though im fairly sure I am using the correct one.
my CID is HTC__Y13, do't know if that is going to help.
When trying to root I followed the htconeroot websites guide. again can't link :/
I have no idea what to do from here, if anyone who actually knows how these things work could help me, I would apreciate it greatly.
Thanks in advance!

Oh, also my battery is almost fully charged, still says 0mv... Don't know why, maybe somehow my phone incorrectly detects that my battery is too low when trying to run recover/update and quits because of low battery level?
You don't post serial and imei so you don't get your phone stolen. Those numbers can let someone report the phone as stolen, and have it become rejected by the carriers and such. As for the main issue you have, I'm S-OFF personally, so I flash everything manually. I haven't dealt with much of anything with S-ON aside from pure stock which does everything on it's own.

Your device is not a M8 but a different device called M8s
So the custom recovery that you installed most probably for M8 and definitely won't work on M8s.
And be frank with you, I am not familiar with your kind of device. There is a separate thread for M8s - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general
You can ask help here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245
or here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...lp-thread-htc-one-m8s-to-stock-howto-t3190238
maybe someone with your device version will help you
Wow! I feel so stupid now...
Thanks alot for your help guys!
I'll try using the correct stuff instead and see if I can solve things, thanks again!
By the way, what would be the easiest way to go about this?
My bootloader is locked and I can't unlock it again since I have used the wrong recovery mod... So I can't just flash the recovery mode now, can I?
Could I use the RUU to somehow restore my recovery mode ? That would be great.
You can unlock the bootloader again with the same unlock_code.bin that you applied to HtcDev.
This time use correct TWRP meant for M8s to root it. You can find it in that M8s thread.
I don't know whether there is RUU for your software version. As I mentioned above, those people in M8s thread know better.
Since your device is not rooted (most probably), why don't you do the update from 1.21.401.1 to Marshmallow 2.10.401.1 ?
You just need to reflash the stock recovery but you need to find either 1.21.401.1 0r 2.10.401.1 stock recovery.img
Well the problem is I can't reflash since my bootloader is locked, and I can't unlock my bootloader because whenever I go into the "do you really want to unlock bootloader" screen and say yes, it shows the HTC logo and then turns off again... Very frustrating.
I know I'm currently in the wrong section, but since I already have your attention and the fact that you seem to know your stuff, what do you think I should do?

OK .. you need to flash 1.21.401.1 signed firmware.zip
I'll try to find one (hopefully is available) but I'll do this tomorrow. It's already 1.45 am here .. I need to rest soon.
Meantime try to search/google 1.21.401.1 OTA.zip or firmware.zip. If you can find one (but make sure it is for M8s not M9 or any other device) .. you just need to run these command to flash it.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
you'll see error
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (one more time)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
this should fix your problem . your problem now is wrong recovery installed but unable to reinstall correct recovery alone because bootloader is relocked.
Thanks man!
If only the world was made up of people like you!
Get some rest, I'm not in any hurry!
I'll try to get the RUU version that I fits my phone, I'm guessing I can't use a newer one because I'm S-ON? Anyway, you don't have to answer now.
Thanks alot again, really appreiciate your help!

If there is a newer one 2.10.401.1 yes you can use, you can't use older version than 1.21.401.1 like 1.11.401.1 or 1.11.401.10 , higher version is ok.
Good night.
Hey, hopefully I don't wake you up somehow.
I found what I think is the right file, it was named the same thing you told me to flash.
When using the commands you told me I get this:
I can't understand any of it really, I'll google around some more and see if I can find what is wrong.
It happened that I woke up for a drink.
Just wait for tomorrow, I already have the correct firmware.zip for you.
Edit : try this - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4jGj3SfskzMVElpa0MxTlpCRGM/view?usp=sharing
See whether you can download it, posted on mobile.
I'll check your progress tomorrow
The last command to exit that cmd prompt screen is fastboot reboot-bootloader
Have to get some sleep, saw your answer just now lying in bed...
Will continue as soon as I wake up
EDIT- Okay so I couldn't wait lol.
Did as you said but I get this:
Am I supposed to put the firmware.zip in the fastboot folder. I did that, I'm guessing that's right...
Here is a picture of my fastboot folder in case it is somehow useful:

It seems like the generic fastboot.exe is not working for this. You should try using the htc_fastboot.exe
https://ruu.lalleman.net/HTC_M8S(QL_UL)/Tools/Fastboot/
put the htc_fastboot.exe in your fastboot folder, then try again with commands
fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
error...
repeat htc_fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
If this also fails, the last thing that you can do (you need microSD) ...
rename the firmware.zip to 0PKVIMG.zip (that's a zero not "O")
put 0PKVIMG.zip on your microSD (not in any folder)
on bootloader select hboot
it will scan the file and ask whether to update
volume up to update
once completed reboot
(remember to remove this 0PKVIMG.zip from microSD after reboot)
Thank you once again.
My phone now propely works thanks to you.
The htc_fastboot.exe seems to have done the trick. What is it that it actually does?
I can't stress enough how grateful I am!

Most probably the HTC encryption on the htc signed firmware.zip only can be read by htc_fastboot.exe
Great that you solved your problem .. you should update to the latest Marshmallow 2.10.401.1

when i perform OTA i says my device is already updated but my Android Version is 4.4.4
i want to update it to latest possible android version.
You have the US Sprint version. Which won't get OTA unless you are connected to that actual carrier (Sprint).
To update with official RUU, you can get it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
If updating to the latest (last) which is Marshmallow 6.20.651.3, then you will need to flash the 6.20.651.3 firmware, before flashing the RUU (peculiar requirement for flashing US Marshmallow RUUs). The firmware is also included on the link above.
Also note that your device may have an unbranded (not Sprint based) ROM installed by a 3rd party seller, in order for it to appear like an "unlocked" device. If you don't see any Sprint branding, such as Sprint logo on boot, Sprint apps, etc.; then it is likely that it has an unbranded ROM installed.
The RUU I linked will install official Sprint-branded ROM, so you may or may not like that. If you don't like the Sprint branding, after flashing firmware/RUU, you can go down the path of flashing a custom ROM (which support the Sprint version M8). But that is another process, and the firmware/RUU needs to be run even in that case, as your firmware (radio, WiFi, etc.) need to be updated to run the current custom ROMs, anyway.

I already suggested 6.20.651.3, so I don't know why you are wasting time confusing yourself. If asking for help, please try to read/understand more carefully; instead of asking questions that have already been answere, and making me repeat myself.
6.20.651.3 is the RUU for the "regular" (non-Harmon Kardon) Sprint version. 6.20.654.3 is the Harmon Kardon edition RUU. The only difference is the HK (software) mods. In actuality you can flash either one, since you have SuperCID (11111111). But seeing as your current version is non-HK (3.30.651.2), that is why I picked that one.
4.xx RUUs are Lollipop. Since the goal is to be updated, I would assume you want the latest possible, which is Marshmallow.
zip or exe format RUU is up to you. But for the zip format, you either need an SD card, or know how to use fastboot (and you will need the htc_fastboot instead of the "generic" Google fastboot, which cannot handle the large file size of the RUU).
For exe format, PC is required.

"Modified" firmware remove either recovery and/or boot.img. The main reason for using a "modified" firmware, is if you want to keep a custom recovery, or the current boot.img (kernel). Neither of those apply in your case.
My recommendation would be to flash the signed full firmware.

Again, this is a question whose answer I already stated in my previous reply. You need to flash the firmware before flashing the RUU. Otherwise the RUU will fail.
There are 3 different methods for flashing firmware: FUU, SD card method, or fastboot method. Which you use if up to you. But SD card method (obviously) requires an SD card. And fastboot method required you knowing how to use fastboot.

There is no official HTC Nougat (RUU) for this phone, if that is what you mean.
If you like, you can try a Nougat (or Oreo) based custom ROM after updating the firmware/RUU. But as I previously said, flashing a custom ROM is another process altogether. After flashing the firmware/RUU, you would then need to unlock the bootloader, flash custom recovery TWRP, then flash a Sprint M8 compatible custom ROM of your choice.
Better to take things one step at a time. Update firmware/RUU first. Then go from there, if you like.

You are not following instruction properly. You do not flash the RUU using the FUU!
RUU and firmware are two different things!
Flash the firmware (53 MB) first (using FUU, as it seems that is the method you've chosen to flash firmware).
If firmware flash is successful (you may need to flash it twice if you see an error "flush again immediately), then flash the RUU (1.5 GB). Do not use FUU to flash RUU! Since you've chosen the zip format RUU, you need to flash RUU either using htc_fastboot, or SD card method. Otherwise, download and flash RUU in exe format.

Stuck on HTC logo after flashing signed firmware is normal and expected, as it expects RUU to be flashed immediately after.
However, the OS number is not normal or expected. It should have changed to 6.20.651.3. I think you mean OS number 2.16.654.4 as there is no version 2.16.254.4 that I know of. Please make sure you type these kinds of number correctly, as they are very important, and telling me the wrong number is extremely confusing!
Check you downloaded the right firmware (6.20.651.3) and flash it again. If you are still getting 2.16.654.4, then the file must be the wrong one. Try the "unsigned Full" firmware 6.20.651.3

You flashed the firmware before already, you said (even if it was the wrong one 2.16.654.4). Why would debugging make a difference now, if it didn't before?
Flashing firmware doesn't require debugging. Everything is done by fastboot, not adb. adb needs debugging, fastboot does not.

I have done the firmware with firmware update utility tool. not by fastboot. Can you please guide me how to do it with fastboot?

Doing it with the FUU is fine. The FUU still connects via fastboot, and doesn't need adb, as far as I know.

It worked before, so it makes no sense that it doesn't work now. Try another cable, or another USB port. Make sure the phone is in bootloader-fastboot mode.

OK firmware installed now how would you suggest me to install the RUU?

Honestly, I haven't used the FUU. But if it's the same as RUU, it works in fastboot mode.
Or just try fastboot or SD card methods. The instructions are on the thread you got the firmware from.

I gave you the options, and the differences between them. Make the decision yourself. I don't even understand why you are asking me this question.
The RUU is similar to the FUU, but even easier. Just download and run it. So that is probably your best bet.

Forgot about that Sprint Hands Free Activation crap. So you can't get past that, by pressing home, back, or anything like that?

HTC 10 Bricked? Bootloop. Don't know what else to do.

So, my GF's HTC10 was rooted and whatnot, mainly cause she wanted to get rid of certain bloatware HTC apps that kept spamming.
After a while she kept getting update notices from HTC which she couldn't install, and more recently her batterydrain went through the roof.
We decided to return the phone to stock.
Enter the problems.
For her phone (CID: HTC_034, S-ON) I couldn't find a RUU exe.
So I went and tried the TWRP backup restore.
It restored, and rebooted, and from there on out was stuck in a bootloop.
I then tried to install the only RUU stock zipfile I could find (1.90.401.5) by renaming it and placing it on the root of the SD-Card.
Enter Download mode -> Get promped to flash -> Get error: ru_main_ver_fail os-version in android-info missing

(Picture: The error message when trying to flash Stock from Download Mode)
When in download mode it says: OS-2.41.401.41
So it seems there is a newer version of android on there, and I can't flash the Stock ROM because of the S-ON.
(Picture: All the info on the Download Mode Screen)
And for whatever weird reason I can't boot into Recoverymode (TWRP) either anymore.
Any help, tips, thoughts and prayers?
At this point I'm at a loss and don't know what to do anymore.
In 8 years of flashing custom and stock roms, rooting and unrooting I haven't bricked a single phone, and I'm kinda afraid I did now, not knowing how to fix it and if it's fixeable at all :x

You can't use that 1.90 RUU because it's a downgrade from your current version and you're S-on.
Try this one, it's the same version you currently have:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634797504
Rename it exactly to 2PS6IMG.zip, place in the root of your sd card and boot to download mode. It'll prompt you to flash it if done right

Thanks for the link (I wasn't able to find any official RUU except the 1.90 one, though I clearly didn't look well enough /shame).
However: Androidfilehost keeps giving me "No mirrors found" when I'm trying to download the RUU ?
Maybe these will work

I should try them. The last digits are only software updates and no firmware update.
So 2.41.401.4 or .3 will probably just work fine. Just try.....it won't hurt

The one in OP from your link is the RUU exe, that one appears to download fine.
Gonna check if it works, though I cant get ADB to work anymore, for whatever reason, so not sure if the exe works, then.

Houston, we have lift off!
The RUU exe did the trick.
But not untill after I uninstalled HTC Sync and deleted the drivers, and re-installed HTC sync (with drivers).
Still many thanks to providing the link with the proper RUU exe!

So, whatever firmware version you are on, run an official RUU.exe from HTC. I seem to be the only one who has this problem with flashing RUUs, but everytime I try. The screen never shows up after the unpacking process. Well, turns out you need to download some runtimes. Get the latest version of .NET, and get ms vc++ 2015 redistrtubutable. I dont run windows, I have it but only for things like that. Or if I have to run odin on a device. Good luck. OH - After u run an offical RUU.exe and are able to boot up and everything.. Before u go changing ROMS and ****, get sunshine and s-off. Trust me, its worth the money.
