Hi all experts,
I am a newbie on this. I am in Canada, since here we dont have i780, so I brought it on ebay and didn't realize its not really an unlock phone.(been cheated) although is sim free but GPS and many other 3rd party app don't work. so i was looking for solutions and found your thread here.
I followed the flashing guide and everything seems to be ok until the russians rom is flashed. The phone turned off itself and cannot turn on anymore. I have tried holding ENTER and FUNCTION button, solf reset hole, and Start + End buttons to turn it on but it doesn't response at all.
I have spent my hard earned $500 on this phone and i am so depressed now... Please kindly help me on fixing my "not just bricked, but dead phone" or i have to save up for months for a new one... sigh..
your response is highly appreciated
Jack
I feel your pain and I had the same issue as you before.
Phone won't turn on after flashing and the mirage reported the flash was 100% done.
I suspect this is due to the samsung modem driver was not installed properly. I had forgotten to do a reboot after the driver install or it might be due to something else.
The way I fixed it was to send to ther service center as it is still under warranty. They had to replace some chips to make it work again and I think that might be your last hope.
thanks for your advise. I did install the samsung modem driver and did reboot the PC before starting mirage updater..... but somehow turn that way.
I brought it from ebay, do you think it can still be warranty? anyways.. gotta try my luck.
thanks tho
I just contacted Canada's samsung service centre. They said They dont have this model here in Canada, so cannot fix my phone.
Please, anyone can give me a hand?
What about a hard reset? have you try it?
try to re load the rom.. i am using HH1 for phone and HH5 for the PDA... works good... with the russian ROM PU (if i am not wrong) i had to load few times as the process stopped at 80% or so... and u can load the ROM from this thread without loading the PU rom..
i have the same troubled too~~
right now my dash, when powered on, will just display a white screen.. when doing a hard-reset...nothing happens, when trying to do to the bootloader thing, the tri-color thing doesnt show but the computer does detect the dash...so i tried an update to stock...and it said that instalation was successful, alltho it was not

i thank you for the swift response, but im sorry to say that those two posts dont help me in the least bit...i fully understand the upgrade process, im just having some technical difficulties that i cant figure out, but please if there is anymore information that i can offer, feel free to ask... im kinda phone-less until i can solve this problem
how about these essages
you tried plugging it into the computer while holding the camera key? also how about the normal press two home keys and cycle the power button? If these dont work PM me and I will help you out. When you use the bootloader make sure that you are flashing back to a tmboile rom
I've been searching for an answer to this since before Christmas...I haven't found anything that's worked.
I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2. I attempted the Jedi Mind Trick Rom (I'm pretty sure that's what it was called...it's been so long I can't really remember all of the details). And my phone hasn't turned on since. I've been told that it's hard bricked and I'm willing to accept that, but I thought before I threw in the towel once and for all I'd see if anyone on here could shed some light on this. When I connect it to my computer, the computer recognizes it and wants me to format it and then tells me it can't format it. Then constantly (like every few seconds) the message pops up (see attached pics). I'm hoping someone out there can tell me if that's normal of a bricked phone or if by some miracle it's holding on by a tiny thread and there's something I can do to revive it. My fiancé and I had the same phone, so I've been able to put a fully charged battery in it, but still nothing. I think I've tried every button combo possible, too. Well...hope someone has some insight on this. Thank you in advance!!!!
A quoted by keithross39:
Ok.....so there are several different levels of "brick"......
Bootloop.....recovery and download modes are both accessible and wiping cache and dalvic will fix the problem....
Softbrick 1....recovery and download modes are accessible, wiping cache and dalvic doesn't solve things but reflashing the ROM in recovery does......
Softbrick 2....Only download mode accessible....flashing a firmware via odin fixes the problem.....
Hardbrick 1.....neither recovery or download modes are accessible, but you still get the battery charging symbol appearing when you plug in your charger....a jig *might* get you into download mode, a jtag *might* also help......
Hardbrick 2 (aka...call in the undertaker).....no recovery, no download, no signs of life even if the charger is plugged in....jig and jtag will NOT help.....mainboard replacement by Samsung the only option......
On that list....where are you? And what were you doing to the phone to cause it?. Also, what firmware/ROM were you on before it went "pear shaped"?.......

Wrong forum (and people here should know that given how many of we get these days). I'm assuming you have a SGH-T989 ? Your thread belongs here, report your OP by clicking the triangle with the ! in the right hand corner & ask mods to move it.

For last-ditch recovery attempts I generally recommend installing Kies and seeing if it can do a full factory restore on your phone. It'll write over everything from bad ROMS to bad radios and leave you right at whatever stock is being pushed right now. Then you can re-start the tinkering from that base.
Hello guys, need your help.
My wife was updating her LT281t to LT28at_6.1.C.1.111 via Sony Companion, when she came to the 5th step, "Press and hold volume down while connecting USB cable" she did but couldn't get into flashmode, unplugged the cable to try again and nothing happened. Now the phone wont bootup, she is crying cause of her phone.
Is there a way to make it boot up???
Thanks in advance.
You should be able to continue the install from sony companion by following the step. i had to unplug mine twice before i could get it to work. that also assumes the device isnt bricked by this issue. and if it is im not sure how to fix this issue might i suggest looking here:

Yea read that thread linked and you should be able to get it going again. The key is patience though. If you rush the steps you will start all over again. I had to charge mine for almost 36 hours before I got it back running again.
Thanks all
Thank you all for your comments. I had read the thread linked. At the end I could recover the phone. Had to let it charge for about 4 or 5 hours, then I could do a soft reboot and it did boot againg.
For now my wife is quite happy and forgot about upgrading at least till JB comes out.
Again. Thanks for your support.

Hello I hope this is the right place to post this request. A friend of mine asked me to try and fix his tablet and I have no idea what to do since all my usual methods arent working on it. I hope someone can tell me if this case is just hopeless or if their is something that can still be done.
The Problem,
My friend changed out the battery on his Tab S and at the same time he decided to reinstall his stock rom. Not exactly sure what was the reasoning behind this. Well mid installation his battery died out and ruined the ODIN install and left him with a wiped machine which seems to not even have a recovery option available any more. The tablet will not boot nor will it even show a samsung logo. The only option I have is to do the hardware button config (VOL Down+ Home+Power) to get it into download mode. Unfortunately even when in download mode no computer will detect that it is connected. I have installed and re-installed drivers from samsung but no cigar as well as not having any luck with the different cables/ports on the machines that we have tried.
Wondering if their is anything we can do at this point since it doesn't even seem possible to try a SD card installation. Any help or direction would be appreciated even if the course of action is to just abandonen ship at this point.
Thank,
J
