I have lost root access from flashing a ROM...I am not able to access a PC at the moment...is there a way to root my phone again without using a PC (hooking phone up via USB and flashing cf auto root via Odin etc.) ?
Have you searched XDA for a SU.zip you can flash via custom recovery?
OK thanks

You can find Chainfire's SU.zip on XDA. Download it and flash it via custom recovery. No PC needed

Can you post the link to the zip if possible?
If that search fails you, try towel root. I haven't used it myself but it's an apk root and it might substitute until you have access to a pc

Do I need to be rooted to use this custom rom? If not what do I need to do?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yes you need to be rooted to install any rom or custom recovery.
OK thank you. I rooted my previous phone and when I did. I had nothing but problems it seemed like.. but that was probably 3 years ago or so..

Since you had to ask if you needed root to flash a custom ROM they were almost certainly User caused. But to each their own.
Do you still need to use a computer and all that too root your phone? And I'm running 4.1.1 is that going to screw me at all?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Scratch that definitely User error.
There are stickies right at the top of this very section on how to root.

if your bootloader is unlocked you could flash twrp using goo manager and download the supersu zip.. then flash that in twrp to root

Okay, I'm not sure what you flashed with Odin. Download twrp and flash the recovery img in the past, with everything unchecked. Once you boot into recovery you have to flash the root file in the twrp root kit on that site.

T-Mobile has released kit kat for the Note 3.
Has anyone tried using SuperSU's root keeper. Wanams ability to hide a custom Rom and taken the OTA. I was hoping if I disabled root and took the update I could re-enable root via and install Kit Kat from the OTA update without tripping Knox. Otherwise we need to get a rooted build and fkash it via Mobile Odin.
I tried and install failed

Apparently mobile odin can keep root on some of the other carriers builds without tripping knox. (have to flash bootloader separately)
I really wish there were step-by-step instructions...
Ha yea I had to use Kies to update and lost root nothing has changed so I would wait till there is update on how to root on 4.4.2
Ok I have a SGH-i317 on att and my problem is this. So I went to update my phone through the OTA from att and had to get the 4.3 bootloader for the DN3 rom I installed. Messed up a couple files and had to downgrade back to 4.1.2 ( this is where things went to hell) it booted fine on stock 4.1.2 until I let it do another OTA then the phone froze and will now only let me enter download mode. I checked probably 10 threads pertaining to my problem like this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891 and I can't get it off the initial start up screen. I can still enter download mode but thats it. I've tried flashing the stock 4.3 through Odin and a custom recovery from the link above I even tried to flash a pit file and a bootloader file but the bootloader file comes back in error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
