Hi erybody
Is it possible to get 4.3 working as on F2FS? I used the F2FS converter by poo706 but he does say that it's only for 4.4 ROMs and rightly so: it didn't work on 4.3 for me
I just thought that the stock smoothness of 4.3, along with a custom kernel AND F2FS would just be killer...
Has anyone got a 4.3 rom n kernel combo that works?

It is possibe and should be easy.
What you can do is> build own ROM from AOSP with the required F2FS changes or modify JB ROM and its ramdisk..
Kerne must have F2FS changes too, so if using KK kernel then you probably have to edit the ramdisk files for Jelly Bean in order to get Android booting

Ah okay, thank you! Could you point me in the right direction as to what i would need to change in the rom and ramdisk? I don't currently have any sort of build environment set up :/

i saw that the new 3.14 kernel in the htc jellybean update supports usbhost, does anyone know which kernel currently uses it? or if anyone knows whether i can flash the stock kernel on a aosp rom? i'm currently using the official cm10 rom. if possible, any links to the stock kernel? thx
sorry i'm kind of a n00b
just wait for the JB update.
Galaxy nexus have Kernel compatibility issue between 4.1.2 <->4.2.1?
I'm using 4.1.2 stock rom
i tried compile kernel use this source (4.2.1 kernel source)
https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/omap -> •android-omap-tuna-3.0-jb-mr1
make tuna_defconfig
and compile kernel,
made boot.img (4.1.2, 4.2.1 ramdisk both tried)
and flashed on cwm recovery
as result, infinite loop at google logo (not "X" logo... white "google" with lock logo)
can't boot
maybe 4.2.1 kernel not compatibility with 4.1.2 rom?
or just my kernel have something wrong?
I think i remember i've read from some kernel developer that there're a lot of changes in the mainline of the kernel that makes it not compatible with the older version of the os. So if you want to boot in 4.1.2 you nedd the source of 4.1.2 kernel.

Isn't it possible to flash MIUI v5 and then flash the stock JB kernel on it to make it work as there is an official build?

well i guess this is the official one it works with stock kernel
Is a build based in CM10. You can't make work it with a stock kernel.

Actually, it doesn't say in the thread.
Can someone please confirm this?
anyone?
As far as I know, Xiaomi has already given up on XS development.
The rom on the thread is a CM based rom ported to XS.
Hi there!!
I'm about to unlock my phone bootloader, and i wanna know some things about kernels:
Can i "downgrade" the kernel. For example from a KitKat kernel to Stock (Jelly Bean 4.1) Kernel?
Can i use a KitKat Kernel in a Jelly Bean Rom?
If Kernel have CWM recovery, it still working even if ROM stop working?
I know that in Linux you can update to the lastest kernel in same distro and don't matters, but Android is "special"...
Now i've CWM for locked bootloader and it is installed in ROM instead in Kernel, then if ROM is damaged CWM can stop working. I think if is included in Kernel then don't matters what happen in ROM, but I want to be sure.
Thanks!!
I'm not really sure about question 1 & 2.
Answer for question 3:
Yes, the recovery should work even the rom is messed up.
Thats when bootloop happen .

1- Each rom has a specific kernel so if you want to install a kitkat kernel you can't install a JB rom so if you want to downgrade you can only downgrade the version of the kernel !!!
2-As I mentioned above you can't
3-Yes because the kernel is not damaged in your case so CWM will be working with no issues !!!
Thanks!!!, for now i'm still using a JB kernel with JB Rom. Waiting for a full working port of xLoud

If You are going to unlock Your bootloader in future, do remember to backup Your TA partition.
Hi all,
Has anybody tried porting any 4.3 rom to enable F2FS feature? I mean. I know there are kernels for 4.2 and 4.3 which have F2FS feature enabled, but had not any luck trying to have a 4.3/4.2 ROM running it.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks!
