How to remove the email account from the Email app? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hello, I linked my Gmail account (not the Android account I use to purchase Apps in the Play Store) to the Email app. How do I disconnect the link? Emails from the account keep showing up on my screen. Thanks.

Mail versus GMail

I want to try using the Mail app instead of the GMail one, but is it actually possible to disable the GMail app without losing all the other functionality you get from logging into your Google account? - there seems to be a unified log in used by GMaps as well, for example. And when I try to remove the account in settings, it says I have to do a factory reset, this seems bonkers to me.
I couldn't manage to get my Google Mail account to sign into the Mail app...

Turn off sync for Gmail under Settings->Accounts & sync.
You might also want to switch of notifications in the Gmail app too.

Dave
Will the phone sync google mail contacts via imap on the mail app or do I need to stick to the gmail app for that?

I think you must have a different version from mine. I have
Settings - Accounts& Sync
Background Data (tickbox)
AutoSync (tickbox)
Manage Accounts
Google
Stocks
Weather
If I tick Google I get a new screen:
Sync calendar
Sync contacts
Sync Google Mail
Sync Picassa Web Albums
(These all just trigger a sync)
At the bottom there are 2 buttons, Sync Now and Remove Account.
If I try remove account a box pops up warning that it will delete all the data, I say OK, then another box that says it can't do it, I have to factory reset because it is required by some applications.
I have been using the Google Mail app since I've had my phone, but today came across a problem - I could not copy & paste a tracking # from an email. I then quickly set up my gmail in the Mail app, & was able to perform this action very easily.
So my question is: has anyone used both apps extensively, & could they give me a quick "pro's & cons"?

Here you go someone has already done that:

The only thing that really annoys me is the fact that your Mail widget does not update the list of emails unless you open the Mail application.
Even if you already updated the email list in your GMail appl.
For example: I receive an email. I get a notification in the notification bar. I open it and it takes me to the Gmail appl (by default). I check my emails, read them, exit the application.
However, my HTCMail Widget (sitting on the desktop) does not show any updates. I have to open the HTCMail manually, sync (again!) and only then can I see the updated list.
Aaaargh!
I've been tempted to move to using the mail application over the gmail one as well.
I think ill setup the mail application with my other gmail account then compare the 2
I much prefer the gmail app. I think its quicker and easier to reply, and it syncs straight away unlike the mail app.
Only downside is the lack of widget, but with the number of apps I have on my homescreens, this isn't an issue.
I always feel it's worth mentioning k9mail at this point, if only because it supports IMAP IDLE.

Buy the app again from Market?

Hello, yesterday I flashed a new rom on my desire, and when i tried to download some apps that i have bought before, the market shows me the payment screen again.
Do you know why is this happening and how can i fix it??
Thanks
Have you recently changed your googlemail to gmail?

Quite possibly.. if you keep changing it might just need a few hours to re-sync.

Here is what i have done:
I have been using my Google Apps username ([email protected]) which can be used to redirect to the Google Account that i have on the Gmail ([email protected]) for the Google services that aren't provided for hosted domains.
The previous orders have been charged on the Gmail Account ([email protected]) since there can't be a Google Checkout Account on a Google Apps domain.
Yesterday when i set up the phone i used the Gmail username, and after searching those apps it asked for payment.
So, what is wrong with all this? Since the apps are bought in the [email protected] email, what is the problem with Android Market?
I also have to say that i use market enabler since i live in a non-supported country and faked to the US carrier.
This is really troubling :S
I contacted the support of one of the apps and they advised to buy again and they will refund the previous charge.
Unfortunately this is not a good solution even though it is fair :|

If I understand you correctly, when you original purchased your apps you used your [email protected] account which is a Google Apps for Domains account.
Since the Market doesn't allow Google Checkout with Apps for Domains accounts, when you purchased it would have asked you to use an alternate [email protected] account.
Assuming this is the case, your purchases are still linked to your original [email protected] account (which is fine), but you have now logged into your phone directly with your [email protected] account. It seems that the GMail account is only required to link with Google Checkout, and your apps are not linked to this account.
If you reset your phone and log back in again as [email protected], you should be ok.
I also use an Apps for Domains account, and I can tell you that this works fine for me.

DAve
I see..
Well I had changed to the gmail login for some reasons so I suppose I have to buy the apps again :|
Thanks for the reply though

Possible to transfer purchase in Market Place to different GMAIL acct?

I have a primary GMAIL account that is my main one that has all my contacts etc...
When making purchases in Market Place this is the account that the transactions usually take place on.
However, I recently purchased a game on another account (somehow it was logged into one of my other GMAIL accounts) and it's annoying having to switch accounts when trying to play that game.
Because if it's not on the account it was purchased on, the game icon would show up as not being installed on the phone.
Anyone know how to transfer purchases if it's even possible?
the new version of Android Market 3.3.0.0, lets you choose which account to purchase from
Correct, which I'm using.
The purchase has already been made on my other GMAIL account as oppose to my primary GMAIL account...
I'm wondering if there is away to transfer (authentication?) my purchase over form my secondary to primary GMAIL so I don't have to always switch to the secondary to play the game.
Otherwise, I have to keep switching back and forth and it's annoying.

The simple answer is no, they limit this to prevent piracy. You could pull the game from Root/Data/App and try to install it like any other app.

How to put a third account in Google accouts in settings?

I have 3 calender accounts, 2 gmail and 1 yahoo. Is it possible to add a third account so the tab will sync with it also. I have the 2 gmails added to the Google account settings but can not find a way to add a third. I know it is possible to add yahoo because I had it installed on other tablet but I never had 3 in the Google setings. Is it possible?

You can actually use gmail email accounts to import emails from things like say yahoo so they all come to one email address if that makes sense, but otherwise its sacrifice time lol sorry...may i ask what is your intended use to have the 3 gmail accounts synced in your phone? Do u just want the emails themselves or all of googles services for all 3 if that makes sense.
I have a Yahoo account on my calander and does not sync.

How can I remove email account from gmail app ?!

Hi guys, I've got 2 accounts and wants to remove one, can you explain me how to remove email account from fu...king gmail app ?!
at Settings -> Accounts & sync -> Personal (POP3) - when click on 3 dot's got only "sync now" option, theres no remove option, at gmail app cannot find remove option as well.. can someone help me ? thanks
You have to do it via accounts in settings. For some strange reason the functionality isn't built into the app itself. Obviously this means everything associated with this account will be deleted, not just email.
Actually you can go under the google account, and turn off just email, thus keeping play store functionality. Select the google account, and turn off Gmail. note this won't delete the mail already on the phone, you'll have to reset the gmail app to do that, but it will stop syncing and downloading of new messages.
