[Q] Xperia Play R800i No Service

Hello, i have an xperia play which is R800i, it's bootloader unlocked, and should be network unlocked, if i go in that option with brackets like [] Network etc they are all with empty brackets and 0, according to some pages its fully unlocked, but still, i cannot get it to work, i've made several baseband changes, roms, etc,
what could be the problem of the phone? i bought it from someone that i usually buy stuff off, so i "shuld" be sure its not imei locked, but then, even if it was imei locked, would i be able to set a PINfor the SIM card? is there a way to check if there's a SIM card inserted in the phone from android? because i feel like it doesn't read my sim at all.
Please suggestions are welcome i tried everything, thank you

He couldn't fix it because he said its after some week date etc, but really is there nothing to try?
Also what may be the reason after i flash a kernel it stays black screen? could kernel help resolve sim issues?

hi,replying cause i have same problem..i unlocked the bootloader with sony offcial method the second i had it in my hands and flashed a custom rom(everything working fine before the flashing..)..oddly i could use data(browser youtube facebook ecc working) but no calls or text..so i relocked bootloader and flashed with seus but nothing to do,same problem data working but no calls or text..then i unlocked again tried some roms,then decided to relock and give a try again with seus..now it won't recognise the sim at all,and NO FASTBOOT,it was working fine before the 2nd flash with seus,and i know for sure it's not an hardware issue...flashed many simlock.ta(changing the name to preset.ta) with flashtools..bot nothing.now i can only flash stock tft,since fastboot is no longer working(so i can't unlock the bootloader for the 3rd time), everytime after first boot it ask to insert sim and reboot, even if it ask for pin if i set it..so it IS reading the sim...the radio is bricked,been searching for 2 weeks now, and no solution found. i contacted alejandrissimo, he said he coul fix broken trim area for 20$, but it isn't answering to my messages anymore..sorry bro it looks like our play it's gone forever as a phone, so far..

I have the same issue in xperia play R800i too, network 2g not working anymore I tried several sim cards, not worked , my bootloader unlocked as my battery is drain in 5 hours too even I tried everything rooms kernels basebands , apps closing google play service all solutions in the net,with no hope :s , hardware problem ? it' snot because i heard someone found some new formation that it's an problem in baseband and it's happened to his Sk18i and Sony fixed it by ICS update , it's has the same problem no 2g and battery drain in 12 hours and after he updated the battery fixed it's goes for 48 ours with normal use and the 2g worked , and the problem is there is no official Ics update in our device
any one can help ?? or find solution ,, I'm sure that there are many many people who are suffering with this horrible problem

Check your APNs, from my experience they get reset if you flash a generic FTF

I'm 100% sure having a locked boot loader makes accessing fast boot impossible? If you can still flash FTF find one for an ICS Rom and see if that fixes it

thanks for replying, i reflashed with wotan and now i have unlocked bootloader, and can flash but the problem on 3g stiil exist. i'm on superjellybean8, and sometimes it will lose the signal on 3g(but data fully working) i get emergency call only,i can browse and other data task like facebook etc, but no call or text, so i turn airplane mode on off until it gets the signal(wich sometimes is very very painful and slow..). i usually get no problem on 2g..so may i start thinking it could be hardware problem on the 3g antenna or something? i've been using it for a couple month now,if i could get rid of the 3g problem it would be great..it makes me miss some important calls you know..

I'm pretty sure the GSM attenna is on the top left on the opposite of side of the power button, have you dropped it recently?
Just occurred to me now, call your service provider and see if the 3G tower in your area is undergoing maintenance

that's what happens.. it get the net but then give the emergency calls only message..

I've got r800i unlocked from aliexpress which was working fine but had non-working touch-sticks.
So I tried to flash newer firmware (.79) and end up with 'no service' problem.
Like OP I have "[] Network 0" so it's definitley not become locked but it doesn't see my provider.
The funny thing is that it does see one of the local providers but only one of three.
Tried different ftf's, currently on R800i_4.0.2.A.0.84_Vodafone DE_(1247-8566).
The only thing I know from the original firmware (from flashtool) is:
Current device : R800i - CB5A1D6HYX - 1247-6268_R8D - 1245-8821_4.0.2.A.0.42 - WORLD-1-8_4.0.2.A.0.42
As I understand this one had Meteor IE baseband.
Is this problem has something with firmware or could it be antenna/hardware problem?

I had problem with "no service" after flash FTF, so the idea its baseband related, I try flash another one, and with R800i_-80_Baseband_GSM.ftf I have success, i have carrier again. maybe help someone

Thanks bro, but I sent the faulty device back to China. That's was the first idea - to change basebands, but that didn't help either in my case.

[Q] Seriously guys i want your help. please....!! Airplane mode problem

Yesterday i install a custom Rom 4.2.2 after kitkat cyanogenmod BR2. before installation i put my phone on airplane mode.
after installation my HD is showing signal bars (white colored) and on top no service and cross sign.
other sim networks works perfectly only Telenor network has this problem.
i have tried changing radio version. now i am on latest one.
i have tried full wipe and install again kitkat and jellybean no success.
please guys help me what should i do.

So, other SIMs are working with different radio versions? I think that your phone is fine.

Might be a trouble from operator side. Check Telenor SIM on other phone.
If it will work - flash factory ship ROM on yor DHD and flash original radion version.
It's strange mystical part, but stock ROM resolves a lot of troubles

Thanks for reply other sims works fine with ever version of radio only that telenor sim doesn't work as before flashing a new rom i put my DHD in airplane mode i think that is the main problem...
if i do same process with other sim ( before flashing other rom put DHD in airplane mode ) then that sim network will not work also..those sims will work fine in other cellphone.
like i use the same process( before flashing other rom put DHD in airplane mode ) with Mobilink sim it shows signals but when i call or sms it says Mobile network not available (in screenshot)
and when i use Telenor it says no service (in screenshot)
when i try to choose a mobile network manually in settings it says "your sim doesn't allow a connection to this network" (in screenshot).
and when i try to choose a mobile network automatically in settings it says "Can't connect to this network right now try again latter" (in screenshot).
other sims works fine
all screenshots are attached with other information
please help me.please :crying:
update : also tried latest RUU same problem again

This Is strange... Is your device made in china or taiwan?
Reason for asking this question is that, taiwanese made DHD normally generate certain problems out of the bloom that usually makes no sense.
From my understanding, When you flash a rom, you format the data partition and this partition holds every change you made to the os during the time of use. So there isnt any reason why a mode you left your phone in before flashing another rom should have such an effect.
Have you tried inserting another sim from the same mobile operator?
Edit:: And what rom is that? It looks nice. Can you give me a link to it?

It cant be a simlock. It takes more than airplane mode to throw a device in sim lock.
And if it was sim lock, it would only accept one particular sim card and not accept some simcards and reject others.
These made in taiwan Desire HDs develop problems that dont mount up to any proper explanation, as i already said.
Like mine, its taiwanese made and when i take out the simcard, it runs smoothly, but as soon as i insert a simcard, the device becomes laggy/slow. i have tried so many things but they all dont seem to work. This isnt the only problem, there are others.
This only leaves me with the conclusion that, the taiwan made DHDs are immetations/fake.

Hardware or software issus?????

Hy friend in my galaxy s4 mini i9195..after all 30 min or 1h i lose 3g signal ans show (emergency call only) but after little time the 3g return... and i dont have 2g signal when i chose 2g signal its show (emergency call only) i do any thing i try deferent modems iam at stock roms 4.2.2...i dont lose m imei its good...i try défirent roms...no 2g network....question this is a probleme software or hardware ?? Note (3g work fine but some time crach)

I think you could downgrade modem only from that Brazilian firmware which boot loader is 2.0.
Last thing you could try is to do a e2fsck from adb on your partitions.
Again I'll ask about your Knox status is it 0x0 go to your download mode (Odin mode) if its under warranty send it to service, just because flashing don't seem to solve your problem.

Second came with Knox bootloader and I was afraid of the warranty so I didn't root it, it was flawless, then cm11 for the dual sim variant came out, installed a recovery and flashed cm11 knox became knox0x1 and 3g stopped working just showings emergency call tried many different modems to make 3g work in cm11 but none worked I flashed back stock and to my surprise 3g on my carrier didn't worked some carriers worked nice but not in mine.
Then I swapped screens with the old phone and that was the solution to my 3g problem same sims but different hardware.

no no i have knox 0*1 because i dont care about waranty
so can i flash the brazilian modem 4.2.2 on my kitkat firmoire for downgrade only the modem????

I see no problem flashing that modem.
If happens that you lost imei flash again the kk firmware your phone has right now.

tnx very much....i flashed just the modem and i dont lose my imei baseband is changed to the brazilian modem sussesfully but nothing happen....same probleme for the 2g network.but if i put another sim of another operator the 2g is worked fine....all sim of my same operator dont work at 2g network...but if i put another sim of other operatoer the 2g work normally??? so were are the probleme????

Crazy I know but my knowledge is limited but i think if all software seems to be right then it's hardware

its crazy yes but for me its not a hardware probleme.bcz if its a probleme hardware no sim card can be work my friend.because i try other sim card of other operator and 2g work like a charm.if i put my dim card or other sil card same at my simcard the probleme is the same hhhhhh this is crazy ????

but can't check for update always tell me registration failed
So i flash with odin but unfortunately network didn't work after flashing
So i flashed another rom network appears but cant make calls or internet
Now my phone works good but no network
Don't know what to do
All what i have now imei 1 imei 2 sn
I don't also remember the original rom come with phone
I flashed the phone without check my old version
Very sad of all this
And dont know what to do

May be this can help:
I had the same problem abroad. Check settings with your provider are right.
I couldn't find wifi, because my settings using phone abroad where out.

Another problem

Question Sim won’t register on network - based in Australia (Fold v SM-F926B)

Need some help guys. I am based in Australia and swapped an iPhone for the Z Fold 3. Went through the usual connection process with my sim and esim whilst connected to wifi. All was well as it allowed calls and received calls when I was home. As soon as I stepped outside my home where it was trying to use the network, it does not work. It keeps saying not registered on network. Tried to manually select network via settings, checked all APN settings from the network and all is ok. Even tried 3 different carrier sims (Vodafone, Optus and Telstra) yet still no matter what this phone will never connect to any carrier network without wifi. From there I tried 3 different firmwares from Sam mobile just in case it had corrupt firmware. Both android 11 and 12 will not work. Need help guys please. Any suggestions?

Two options
1. Get into recovery and do a factory reset
2. Flash the latest firmware ( F926BXXS1BVB3 ) , firmwares are now Multiregion so no problem with that

If that doesn't work , maybe you lost your EFS partition ( it contains your IMEI info ) and that is a big problem
You will have to read a lot here @ xda to try to recover it ( if it'spossible somehow )

I can see both imei numbers on the device if this is what you mean? Ironically when the phone is on WiFi with WiFi calling enabled and the simcard plugged in, it allows me to make calls with my number sending to the recipient, it just won't do the same when the WiFi is disabled, I can not communicate out by data nor voice and it keeps saying "not registered on network." I have checked and the phone is not network locked and is clear for use. I will try the firmware link you have sent however if this does not work, may I ask what you think may be next?

To add I have tried various firmware which did not work either.

Can anyone help with this as the above unfortunately did not work.

When you flashed stock firmware , did you use CSC or HOME_CSC ?
You have to use CSC , to get a fresh install
If possible , once flashed get into recovery to perform a Factory reset from there , maybe this can get back the EFS partition that seems to be corrupted
again ... DON'T use HOME_CSC

Thank you for your reply. I did use csc and followed all your instructions. Unfortunately still the same. I am so lost as to what to do as I love the phone but can not seem to fix it.
